View 7 RepliesNeed to convert decimal degrees into degrees, minutes, & seconds (displayed in three columns). Currently calculated manually from ATAN, ASIN, or ACOS functions.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had a similar problem a day or two ago in converting Deg Min.dec to Deg.dec and it has happened again. This time I want to convert Degrees Minutes & Seconds to Degrees.decimals.
The formula I am using works for a two digit number Lat. but not 3 Long.?? Here it is below:
=+IF(A2<>"",INT((LEFT(A2,3)+MID(A2,4,2)/60+MID(A2,7,4)/3600)*100000)/100000&"d","")
how would you take decimals to dms, and also how to put dms into the right bearings?

I've writing excel formulas to convert Decimal Degrees (DD) to Degrees Minutes and Seconds (DMS) and back again for astronomy. These are for converting DD angles for telescope Right Ascension (RA) and Declination Angles (DEC) pointing.
I've got the formulas to work except for one minor annoyance. Try this formula for converting DEC DD angle of -1.5° to a DEC DMS angle: ....
I have degree values as this 4145.5
Which is 41 degrees 45.5min
and 0010.2
Which is 0 degrees 10.2min
I need 4145.5 and 0010.2 to be converted to decimals so that I can add and subtract them
Then the answer needs to be converted back into
a format like this
45° 45.5'
I am trying to convert Degrees Minutes & Decimals of a minute (12° 34.567') to Degrees and decimals of a degree (12.57611°). I have the formula to convert latitude, that is two digits, but it doesn't want to work with longitudes, three digits. (see attachment). This is the formula that I am using:
=IF(A2="","",(INT((LEFT(A2,3)+MID(A2,4,6)/60)*100000)/100000)&"d")
I have a chart which has horizontal gradients in increments of 500. For example, $500, $1000, $1500, etc. Is it possible to make one of the horizontal gradient lines which run across the chart, darker than the other horizontal gradient lines? For example, if a "goal" is to reach $2000, can I make that horizontal line in the chart darker than the lines for $500, $1000, $1500, etc.? I am not talking about the bars that run vertically for each data, but the lines that run horizontally across the chart.
I dont know if this can even be done in a chart or not.
I am fairly new to spreadsheet and need to develop a simple spreadsheet that will present a actual vs budget % for certain clients on a weekly basis.
It is currently taking me forever to remap my formula each week when i have populated my actual vs budget data.
On Sheet 1 it has my data and on Sheet 2 is where my ratios are presented with graphs.
On Sheet 2, the ratio is presented in one cell with a formula that calculates based on two cells adjacent to each other on Sheet 1.
I am currently running my report horizontally across the spreadsheet.
The problem is that when i add in another week running horizontally across my spread, the formula can not be dragged across as it does not jump by two cells.
I have attached a example : example.xlsx‎
I am calculating ratios to show as 1:0 or 3:2 etc using this formula: =IFERROR(CONCATENATE((K2/GCD(K2,N2)),":",((N2/GCD(K2,N2)))),"Nil")... I have a lot of columns that have zeros in them and the formula i am using doesn't seem to work for those...
Example
A B
3 6 should equal: 1:2 works OK
2 0 should equal: 2:0 my current result: 1:0
3 0 should equal: 3:0 my current result: 1:0
0 1 should equal: 0:1 works OK
0 0 should equal: Nil works OK
4 1 should equal: 4:1 works OK
Anything with a zero in the first column comes up as 1:0
What I need is a formula for the following:
If Column A equals "No Show" and Column B equals "Anthem" then sum of cell C2 divided by D2
Every time I input this simple little formula I get an error.
A
B
C
D
Status
Coverage
Counts
No Shows
No Show
Anthem

10
The attached worksheet is for giving competitors a score of 1 if they meet certain criteria and 0 if they don’t. Need to write a formula that warns me if the three highlighted ratios are not meet. The last Ratio (15) is on a sliding scale so must be at least 1.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is what I’ve been trying to do. There are 3 different work schedules for each employee. Each employee gets 2 days off in a row. At the top of the employee schedule worksheet, there are 3 schedules. The zeroes represents days off for that schedule and the 1’s represents days worked. Ok, Cells c7 thru c17 display total staff needed for that day Cells c8 thru c18 display average number of customer on a particular day Cells c9- 19 display number of needed based on a staff to customer ratio of 1 employee per 80 customers B11 displays that ratio
I need to make a comparison of two different staff to customer ratios. My goal is to find lowest total payroll while adequately staffing the store. In B13 I want to enter the daily salary amount for 1 employee at $10 hr/8 hrs per day
In A16 enter total payroll amount
Total staff B7 times salary in B13
Use solver to find minimum payroll amount
Target cell is total payroll found in A16
Target cell must be = to minimum value................
Working on a project and using a formula like this just so we can get the degree sign:
=TEXT(ROUND(DEGREES(ATAN2((C6-C30)/2,A25)),1),"0.0")&CHAR(176)
This obviously results in a text value.
How can I dump the TEXT function and the CHAR function and format the cell to display the degree sign and still be a numeric data type?
I have a spreadsheet that is so long ie columns that i have decided to flip it over so that my old row titles are now column headings and my column heading are now row titles.
The reason for this is that I need to enter more that 256 columns into my worksheet matrix and I only have 209 rows thus light bulb moment turned the whole spreasheet 90 degrees within the worksheet!
i am trying to finish a spreadsheet off using cos functions. I want to convert 26 degrees into 0.8988. when i use my hand calculator i type 26 in then press cos and it converts it to 0.8988 which is correct, but when i try to use the excel cos function it gives 0.646919322 which is in-correct.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I custom format a cell to display degrees minutes seconds. I now there is a way. I found in on the web once but can not find it again. The formating from cpearson does not work the way i want.
For example if in cell a1 I input 50.2536, I want to to format the cell as 50° 25' 36". opefully this can be applished without any formulas. Either soem code or formating would be great. The last time I found it I thought it was something like ###° ??'/??" but that did not work. Thanks in advance. The reason I need it, is to use the convert_decimal function I found on the microsoft website.
I have a column in excel which includes numbers like (12 13 14.5), and I want to format like this (12 Degree Sign, 13 Minute Sign, 14.5 Second Sign).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a label in a userform which is picking up data from sheet1.range("a1") and i would like it to show along the left side of the userform so rotated at 90 degrees.
I do not have to use a label but I do need the data to be shown at 90 degrees.
I have created a table in Excel that I want to import in a word portrait page, but would like to rotate it to 90 degrees.
I would like the table to take the whole page and that I still have some space above the table to put table number and description.
I have uploaded the table in excel and a screenshot of the way I would like the table to appear in word file.
The problem I am having is in trying to make a custom cell format for inputting my data. I want it to appear as 44° 41' 5" (in the same cell). I would like the cell to function so that if im inputting data manually for it to automatically put in the appropriate (degree, minute or second marks). That way I could just enter somthing like 44 41 5 and it display properly. Also I am trying to keep the data in text format for another marco I am running to convert the DMS data into decimal.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an excel table .xls : 1.jpg
And I have to convert it to .csv (as the only applicable format for a database mass upload) , but when I do this , all the 0 values (numbers) from the NEW ZIP POSTAL table disappear.
If I save it : 2.jpg
The issue is that there are six types of "numbers" in the table that I am trying to turn into all numbers. Obviously, I'd like to turn the Ks in 1,000s and the Ms into 1,000,000s:
#.##K
#.#K
#K
#.##M
#.#M
#M
If there weren't all six, I think I could fix this pretty easily, but as it is I'm pretty stumped (other than a manual fix).
I am currently exporting data into excel. The data i am exporting comes in the form of hh:mm:ss. When i export it into excel...everything appears fine. I am also using the data to generate charts. I have multiplied the values by 1440 in order to show as minutes for the charts.
When i import the data to excel and the hours value is bigger than 24, for some reason excel converts it into totally different figures. The minutes caluation (*1440) still works fine, but i need the actual hh:mm:ss to be correct, not amended by excel. Is there a way to do this. Ex. Data imported: 74:51:03 in hh:mm:ss - excel coverts this to 02:51:03.
I have put VBA code which will winzip all the excel files to .zip files in a folder. But problem is when i run the code it zips the file as .xls.zip.
For example:-
Sub Zipping()
'
Dim file As Variant
Const SOURCE = "E:Output"
[Code]....
So the output is :- abc.xls gets converted to abc.xls.zip
I have some code where it prompts you to enter a %, and then it calculates if the Lst Wk Sales > Avg Wkly Sales + %.
box2 = InputBox("Enter % increased by Sales")
ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "=IF(RC[-111]>RC[-121]+" & box2 & ",""YES"",""NO"")"
The problem I have is that excel treats the formula as +50% rather +1.5. Can anyone help me around this issue?
I am working within Excel and am hoping to convert from A LOT of columns containing hh:mm:ss to AM at the end, however I am unsure of a fast / efficient way to do this. I am using MS Office Excel 07....
