Copying Sheets Containing Named Ranges With VBA
Apr 9, 2014This should be a fairly simple question, I've already got the code for copying sorted, I'm just curious about several of the named ranges within the sheet and what happens to them when I copy it all over.
I'm working from a spreadsheet made by my predecessor and they've got a template sheet with numerous named rages all scoped to the workbook, on the new template I've created, it has lots of ranges scoped to the sheet itself. The new template works just fine as it is but I just want to try and make sure that when I change over the templates it will continue to work fine and the current template's named ranges are going, so far I have actually copied everything and are running tests, but you can't test for everything, so if the named ranges on the new template being only scoped to the sheet will affect it at all?
Copy/Paste Cell To Named Range Named In Adjacent Cell
Sep 4, 2007I have read post re this question but have not been able to answer my problem. I get the error message 'Application defined or object defined error' when running the code below. I should indicate the range counter currently indicated about 6,200 rows that this code will work on and the individual range names in the list of 6,200 rows are spread over at least 20 worksheets.
The code appears to be running but after some time it stops on the line of code 'Range(Cells(i, 1).Value) = Cells(i, 2)'.

Apr 1, 2014I have a master sheet and 102 'advisor named sheets'. The master sheet is updated daily with information (number and text) along 1 row in different columns (A:W). I would like when the advisors name is typed (W) =joebloggs! for this whole row to be auto input on joebloggs sheet. There can be multiple of these entered daily for same person, so the information would need to populate on the next row so not to type over the previous entry.

I tried to work with the function MID but that doesn't work because the values don't have a fixed position. They don't start always at the same character number.

Jul 25, 2013I have run an INDEX and MATCH formula to give me a resultant cell reference number. I now want to copy a cell to this specific cell reference using another formula.
For example the data I want to copy is in cell A1 and in cell A2 I have the result of the index formula (B1).

Jan 8, 2014I've got a workbook set up. One tab has a bunch of named ranges, let's say Tables 1-6. The second tab has vlookups for selected values from a sharepoint data pull (in order to parse through the sharepoint stuff, most of it is nonsense).
What I am trying to do is write a formula for cell E2 that:
-Step 1: Looks into whichever range the user specifies, 1-6 (probably using the indirect function).
-Step 2: Searches the specified range for text found in cell F2 (a string of text with values from one or more of the ranges 1-6)
-Step 3: Returns the text.

Nov 6, 2008I have a large amounts of named ranges each of about 100 rows 20 column's each in its own sheet and I need to be able to refer to a singe cell in that range.
I want to do this so that I can use an offset to get another cell value relative to the cell in the named range.
F9 contains a hyperlink to the named range and is the same as the named range but with spaces.
A couple of things that I have tried are below:
=OFFSET(INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE($F9," ","_")),1,0)
=OFFSET(VLOOKUP("bob",INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE($F9," ","_")),14,FALSE),1,0)
Neither of these work, I am asuming it is because I dont have a specific cell reference named for the offset?

Aug 26, 2008I need a button to delete a sheet and the sheet to be deleted needs to come from a cell. For example: Active sheet is sheet 1. User selects the name "sheet 5" within cell B10 via data validation from cells E1:E9. Then the user clicks the button and that sheet is deleted. The data validation is a list of every sheet name except sheet 1. If possible, there is a sheet labeled "0" and I cant have that sheet deleted or it will screw up all my formulas if that's too difficult I can work with the data validation to keep a zero from showing up.

Aug 31, 2007I want to be able to do is to have a text value in a cell which will be the same as a named range and can be called from a formula in another cell. For example, I have three named ranges: JAN, FEB and MAR. Instead of having a formula which might read: =VLOOKUP("bill", JAN, 1, 1)
I would like to have in cell A1 the text value "JAN" so that the formula can read:
=VLOOKUP("bill", A1, 1, 1)
Then I can change which named range is used in the formula but changing the value in cell A1. When I try to do this, the formula just looks up the value as if cell A1 was the range rather than taking the value from A1 as the named range.
