Dec 6, 2013Attached is a workbook that better explains what I am trying to do. I am counting pastdue accounts from several different insurance companys. I have several pastdue brackets, and I need the total amount of pastdue accounts for each bracket, for each insurance company. I think the countifs function wrapped in an index match may get the job done, but I have not been able to figure it out. right now I have a countifs wrapped in an if statement, and it is producing incorrect results.

I am look for an automated way of doing a count of any number that falls under this criteria, so I want to count based on criteria (1) it would count all 1.1,1.2,1.3 and so on as one count.

Is there a nested COUNTIFS or similar function that would work?

Aug 13, 2007I am trying to count the number of times a code appears in column N, IF the corresponding cell on column T is blank. Column T either has a date or is blank and column N has a 4 letter code.
This is what i have been trying.
=SUMPRODUCT((CMRF!T:T=ISBLANK)*(CMRF!N:N="B2"))
I want the code in column N to match to the code currently in cell B2, i have also tried using "" instead of ISBLANK but i get # NUM! error as a result either way. the result should just be a number i.e. 400 (cells with the same code as B2 and no date in cell T)

Apr 24, 2009I think I am working all around this in Excel 2003 and feel like I am in the neighborhood, but can't seem to quite get there. On sheet1 I have 2 columns of 100s of rows. All of the cells in column A will be filled in with a date as time goes by (1-May-09 for example). Several of them may be 1-May-09 as a matter of fact. In column B, some of the cells will have a number in them and some of them will be empty. On sheet2, I want to construct a formula that returns a count of cells in column B that have a number in them based on a specific date in column A. For example:

If I could get the formula right, it would return an answer of 1 for 1-May in the example, because only 1 of the 1-May entries in column A has a number in the adjacent cell in column B. A formula for 2-May would return an answer of 2 since only 2 of the 2-May entries in column A have numbers in the adjacent cell in column B, and so on for the month. If I understand things right, there are too many arguments for COUNTIF. It seems that SUMPRODUCT should work, but I can't make it so.

Aug 17, 2006I have an personnel file with employee info, and I want to create a macro that will look in the "Master" worksheet at the Department column ("I") for anyone in Benefits, and then copy their name from the Name column ("D") into the "Benefits" worksheet. The names should begin pasting in cell "D3" but will recognize if a cell already has a name in it and then paste in the cell below that.

Apr 30, 2014I am really struggling to summarise weekly budget data into period budget data by subcategory.
I have column headings A3 being Subcategory B3 being GL Code & C3 being GL Name - where column B & C are distinct values but column A are not. And then in D2 I have the period no e.g. P01, with the Week no in D3. I want to sum all cells that are in a particular subcategory and period - the data set is broken down by weeks.

Dec 30, 2008I have a large worksheet that lists employees and the hours they work each day in a pay period.
For Example:
Column A holds a date and Column E holds the number of hours worked for a paytype. So i want to create some function that sums the numbers in column E, but only those where column A holds a date.
Then i want to return that number to a cell, say C20. I think I've managed to tell the macro which rows i want to return values from, but I can't figure out how to say "add these numbers together and put the total in C20."
I'll check this frequently if clarification is needed.

Basically I'm trying to write a formula that will sum the total of the numbers from column B but only where the month equals June AND column 3 says "Yes".
So the answer would be 101, because rows 2 and 5 are the only rows of that table that meet all the criteria, and the sum of their column B cells would be 101.
I thought I was getting there with Sumproduct and Sumif but I'm now drawing a blank. There is a little extra complexity in that I'm actually pulling the month value from a set of cells elsewhere, but if someone can solve the puzzle above I hope I can do the rest on my own as it's just locations of data to pull from other worksheets really.

I believe I need a loop code to do what I need, because none of the functions I've tried have worked. I want to start at B2 and go down the column until I come to a YES. When I find a YES, I want to know the number of NOs that preceded it. Then I want to go from that YES(#1) to the next YES(#2) and count the number of NOs between YES(#1) and YES(#2) and so forth, until I run out of rows. For example, in C5, the answer is 2, because there are 2 NOs between YES#1 and YES#2 in coulmn B, and a 1 in C7, because there is 1 NO between YES(#2) and YES(#3) in column B.

Dec 3, 2008I am trying to count AE2:AE601 if AE2:AE601 <= 2 and if AF2:AF601 = the value of AH2 but the formula that I have create returns a 0 when it should be returning a 1.
Where did I go wrong? Here is what I have so far.

Aug 25, 2006This is probably a simple question for excel gurus, but I am a molecular biologist, and don't set up these formulas every day. I have a table full of genotypes that I have indicated as 0, 1, 2 or 3 in columns. Column heads are gene names; row heads are subjects (patient numbers). I want excel to look in row 1 in column A and see if there is a 1 and also in column B in the same row to see if there is a 1, and if both are 1, count that patient in a tally. I want to be able to get a count of the number of patients with 1's in both columns. If someone can tell me what functions I use to set up this tally, I think I can set up more elaborate formulas. At the end, I want excel to look at several columns and tally the number of patients that have 1's in several columns.

Aug 27, 2006I've looked at the various examples in a search of topics simillar to my topic but I still can not get thsi to work.
I have a work book that contains 2 sheets
Sheet1 is called RawData of Multiple columns
Sheet2 is a quick report basded on Sheet1 data.
I need to find a way to do counts where 2 criteria are met.
Example.
Count the number of Times the phrase Major Victory appears in column M
( Range M1 to M50 ) of Sheet1 IF the value in Column L ( Range L1 to L50 ) of Sheet1 = USA
I tried this:
=COUNTIF(RawData!M1:M50,B1( AND(RawData!L1:L50=$A1)))
I am using B1 and A1 ( from Sheet2 ) as search criteria
but it gave me 0 ( and I know this is wrong ).
Based on the reading I did on simillar topics it appears that I cannot use CountIF in this case.

Dec 7, 2013What I require : Column F to be blank as long as the following is true:
1) Column A (Order) cannot be blank.
2) Column E (Status) has to be equal to either "Completed" or "Successful".
3) Column D (Sales) has to have the same date as Column C (Contact), but due to bad data quality each order number can have several rows and as long as the Sale date from one of the other "Duplicate" rows equals the contact date it needs to be counted. This is as long as there is not already a row for the Order that already has Sales / Contact day matching.
In the attached spreadsheet, I have highlighted the rows that should be blank in column F in green. My attempts at formulas to count this are in the columns highlighted in red.

I'm trying to count/sum unique values in a Range, base on a criteria excluding Blank cells. Basicly I'm using the Formula Below:
=SUMPRODUCT((C2:C20"")/COUNTIF(C2:C20,C2:C20&""))
Let me Put to you an example for you been able to understand my problem.
Example considering Range "C2:C20" exluding blank cells
(1) - To count unique values
=SUMPRODUCT((C2:C20"")/COUNTIF(C2:C20,C2:C20&""))
(2) - To count unique values based on criteria in range "B2:B20"
=SUMPRODUCT((C2:C20"")/COUNTIF(C2:C20,C2:C20&"")*(B2:B20="E"))
(3) - To sum unique values on "E2:E20" based on same criteria
=SUMPRODUCT((C2:C20"")/COUNTIF(C2:C20,C2:C20&"")*(B2:B20="E")*(E2:E20))
They all work fine. But I need to insert a merge at Row 10 for
better reading purposes and the (2) and (3) are returning (#DIV/0). The (1) formula still work's.
I just don't know what to do guys ....
