Apr 9, 2009I am looking for a macro to delete entire rows based on the a partial text contained in column A. For example, I have a list of names that I need to keep but I need to delete the rows in which column A contain cells starting with the following.
BOOKLET 201, PROMO
LOTTO, PRIZE 2
PBT 2, STW WEEK 4
the numbrs in these cells increment therefore I can not make it a specific to the cell but need to select based on Booklet, Lotto and PBT.

May 15, 2014I have a column of data with letters in each cell, no numerical, only alpha. Now, some of those cells contain the letters "adj sub" as part of the text string in each cell. "Adj sub" is always at the beginning of the text string. As an example, a cell will look like this - "adj sub mhm". I want to delete rows whose cell description does not contain "adj sub" as part of the text in the cell.

Jun 22, 2007I currently have a spreadsheet with circa 50,000 lines with info regarding our websites at work. In every row, column "A" contains a unique reference number.There eill either be 1 row for this reference number, or there will be 2 rows. there will never be more than 2 rows for each reference. I wanted some code to say that if theres only one row, then delete it but if the if the cell underneath it is the same then its ok. I tried the following but it deletes the row anyway, supposing the cell under it is the same or not

Jul 1, 2009Note: The "Bread Type" column will ALWAYS be in row 1, BUT will ALWAYS be in a different column letter, so I would like this macro to find the "Bread Type" column by name rather than by column number. All criteria should NOT be case sensitive.
In the example below, rows 2, 4 & 5, have the text "Wheat" or "Rye" in the "Bread Type" column, therefore, all 3 of these entire rows should be deleted. Yes, I do mean the ENTIRE row, wipe these rows off the face of the earth

VBA To Delete 4 Row Range Based On One Cell Value
Oct 21, 2013I have a spreadsheet broken out into about 30 4-row ranges, for example (A10:L13). All of the ranges use a using a vlookup argument:
=IFERROR(VLOOKUP($A10,Fund_Range,2,FALSE),"") in the second row.
Around 15 of the ranges will be populated based on varying data in the fund_range data table, the remainder will be blank. The first row of each range is a header row, I would like the macro to delete the range when there is no value in the second row (the blank ranges). Every attempt I have made starting with other code from the forum has come up empty. I think part of my problem is the vlookup formula existing in these otherwise "blank" rows.

Mar 28, 2014I have a column C with different text in cells (item's title). Column D - relevant description for each of the items. 100+ rows.
Now, unfortunately, often a spreadsheet with items is updated with many new items. So I get a new spreadsheet with old and new items mixed. I need, somehow, to import descriptions of the old items (Column D of the old spreadsheet) to the new spreadsheet from old spreadsheet. So I want excel to look for old items in column A of the new spreadsheet and, once found, insert a description in the column B from old spreadsheet.

Search the activecell for a text string (a), and then either paste in text string (b) at the end of the cell if (a) is found, or text string (c) if (a) is not found.

Mar 22, 2014Programming Excel VBA Macro to do OCR (text recognition) from a prt scr screen capture image and input the text into cells. Currently my Excel file has a push-button, and upon clicking on it the macro pastes into Excel the current clipboard image I have created by pressing prt scr while in another program. The macro then crops the image to the region with the applicable text. I have to then manually type the text I see in image format into the appropriate cells.
the VBA coding to automate this? I'd like it to use the clipboard image and run it through OneNote OCR, after which the applicable text values are automatically entered into the cells. Ideally the code will first crop to the region with the desired text before it does OCR. If this is not feasible, it will need to incorporate a method (keyword search?) to hone in on the desired text after the entire prt scr image has been OCRed.
