Depreciation Of Fixed Asset

I'm trying to calculate the Depreciation of the fixed asset for some items. I've tried the formulas that came with Excel but i don't know its not working or not give the correct value
so I attached a file as an example what I'm trying to have is
1- straight line method along the asset life
2- salvage must be ( 1 )
3- if the purchase date is equal to or before the middle of the month (14-15/02/2004) so the start of depreciation have to start from the beginning of the current month ( Feb) but if the date excess the day 15 ( 16/02/2004) the middle of the month , the the depreciation must start from the next month.

I am looking to reassess the useful life of existing fixed assets by one/two years.
For example:-
Original cost $1,727.00
Start Date 30/12/2008
Current End of life 29/12/2013
New End of Life date 29/12/2014
5 year - 20%
NBV as at 30/06/2013 $174.12
How can I calculate the new rate, as I can not change the prior financial years depreciation. I am looking for a calculation, to test the assumptions, and see the overall change. This is just one example.

I am working on a depreciation schedule in which I want the monthly depreciation of an asset to automatically calculate and, if the asset is fully depreciation, caclulate a zero or the balance to be depreciation (if less than the monthly depreciation). Please see below example. As you can see my asset is fully depreciated at the end of February but because there remains a $0.01, the formula is calculating another month in March and then reversing it in April (less the $0.01). Here's the formula I'm using. What am I doing wrong?
Column H is March, Column C is my monthly depreciation, and column E is my beginning book value:
=-IF(ABS(SUM($F2:H2))>=$E2,(SUM($F2:H2)+$E2),IF($E2=$C2,$C2,$E2)))

Have 5 columns (A1-E1) with different bond data: (respectively)
Coupon, Maturity, Settlement, Price, Yield (asset swap is F1)
Depending on the type of swap I am performing i want the ASWAP (user-created) function to reference different values within the row.
For example: Swap 1 = settlement, maturity, coupon, price, curve
(curve is a user input single number 1-3)
Swap 2 = settlement, maturity, yield, price, curve (yield in place of coup)
Swap 3 = settlement, maturity, yield, 100, curve (100 for par redemption)
etc. I won't type out all the iterations, not necessary.
The way that I want the ASWAP to recognize which Swap# to use is by inputting a number into a cell beside the Aswap column that I can input 1, 2, 3, etc., and then recalculate to get the desired outcome. Want to keep this a static reference as well as the price at par (each owning their own single cell, not a fill down the columns because there are too many).
So assuming G1 is the Swap# input, and H1 is 100...
How do i write a formula that is capable of reading the input in G1 and outputting the proper swap calc.
My gut feeling was along the lines of nested IF's with the corresponding formula... but i won't mess around in futility on here.
Let me know if this is too confusing without me putting up an example.

Estimated Life (Cell X2)
Aquired Value (Cell Z2)
Is there a formula that will just calculate how much life is left based on the information i have?

I have a list of items on which I need to calculate the SLD, normally I would just divide the Acq Cost by the Salvage period (5yrs) to calculate the yearly depreciation. However I have been asked to calculate it from the Cap Date, therfore the first year would only be a portion of the year and the final year would also be a potion of the year.
So I'm trying to calculate the depreciation period for an asset with an Acq Cost of £12500 and a Cap Date of 27th July 04 over a 5yr period from that date.

i am trying to get back to the original purchase date of an asset.
It has being depreciating using the reducing balance method.
I have the Net book value of the asset currently, the original cost and the depreciation rate.
However i do not know the quickest way in excel to work back to the original purchase date.

I am in need of a formula to calculate monthly straight-line depreciation assets based on the current month’s days.
So, if an asset costs $10,000 and has 15 years of useful life, in June this would calculate 15 divided by 12 divided by 31 times 10,000. I want to put cost in one cell and date in another, for the formula.
BTW, someone is using this formula, =(16736*(1/15)*(6/12))*31/184

how to calculate debt repayments using this approach.
As shown on the attached file repay issue.xlsx I have an example where a loan is taken out regularly (in the example every 6 years) but repaid over a shorter period (in this example every 3 years).
Using "IF(MOD(ROW" the formula identifies correctly when the loan has to be renewed, and calculates correctly how much needs to be borrowed.
C14 =IF(MOD((ROW(A14)-ROW($A$8)),B$3)=0,B9*C$5
Because Row 14 is six rows below the start (Row 8) which is the interval set by B3, it enters the loan percentage
(C5) of the asset value (B9) into C14.
Problem comes in the following rows. I need the formula to establish how many rows the "active" row is below the last "renewal", then deduct one fraction of the payback period for each row. By sheer coincidence the formula below works on the second row of the datsabase and deducts one third of the loan value because C8 WAS the previous "renewal", and row 9 is one below it:
=IF(MOD((ROW(A9)-ROW($A$8)),B$3)=0,B9*C$5,IF(MOD((ROW(A9)-ROW($A$8)),B$3)=1,C8-(C8*(COUNT(A9-A$8)/C6))))
I cannot "hard wire" the cell references into the formula because the renewal intervals and number of paybacks range from 25 year mortgages paid every year without being renewed to a one year loan on an item renewed every two years

I am attempting to create a capital depreciation schedule that gives us our total operating impact for a given calendar year. I can populate my depreciation based on the purchase month, and fill across the schedule the monthly depreciation cost, however, I'm not sure how to stop the depreciation after the item has depreciated fully (say after 36 months).
For example, if someone were to select March 2013 in B5, monthly depreciation should begin in E5 and spread across ONLY 36 months. If they were to select April 2013, the depreciation would begin in F5 and extend ONLY 36 months.
I think it might be possible to do this with an COUNTIF function, but it is not working for me.

I have the following formula which returns the number of asset breaks for each head of dept in sheet3 based on their teams in Sheet1 and then does a countif in >30_DAYS_ASSET in sheet2. In sheet 1 is a mapping table with range names "Teams2", "Teams" & "Managers". I now need the formula to also do a count on the unique numbers in sheet2 Column B, if there are duplicate numbers then that will be 1 asset break, so for example for for Joe plummer we can see there are duplicate case numbers so the formula in total should return 2.

For instance I have a formula such as =sum(A1:A9). But imagine that the range is not always till row 9 but depends on the total number of rows that are in the table. How can I change that 9 so that it takes a number equal to the total rows in the table?
The final formula I want is not that simple one. It is actually
=INDEX($F$1:$F$1047,MATCH(1,INDEX(($G$1:$G$1047=G2)*($L$1:$L$1047<>"47200")*($L$1:$L$1047<>"47700"),0),0)).
I want to change 1047 by the relevant number of rows. Also, I do know how to do it in VBA, but I have a problem with the length of the formula there (not that one, but other bigger than that)

If I run my sub all columns go back to the set width. But I want the width to reset when the width is changed.

I am trying to create a string of text that grabs info from other cells, which is easy so for example
=A1&A2&A3
would grab all the info from the 3 cells and merge them to create a string, but what I want to do is create a prefixed length.
Lets say A1, A2 and A3 would equal 10 characters in total but B1, B2 and B3 would equal 7 characters, these would be different lengths. so for a visual description I would like them to appear like this
At the moment
01MAIN-HELLO
01DESSERT-HELLO WORLD
Would like
01MAINXXX-HELLO
01DESSERT-HELLO WORLD
This would make both strings the same length and would make it easier for me to export to a custom file that needs a certain length prefix.

We have a charging system that fixes anything under an hour to 1 hourly rate, then after that we charge in 15min incremental blocks charged at 0.25 of an hour now we need to automate it to make it more econmical. The rate is set at the beginning of each job sheet and the times are inserted in order to get the total minutes worked & what to charge, eg: agreed rate per hour = $A. time1 = 11:45am & time2 = 12:30pm which is 45 minutes total however its under 1 hour so its gets charged at the minimum hourly rate of $A. if total time happened to be 61mins then it would be charged at 1hr 15mins which is ($A x 1.25)

Im new to excel and problem regarding the sumproduct function.
I have three columns in my sheet1, column A and column B contain 1000 numbers.
Hence, column A goes from A1 to A1000 and column B from B1 to B1000.
In the first row of column C, i want to use sumproduct on A1:A5 with B1:B5.
My problem arises when I want to drag the formula down, in the second row of column C I want
to use sumproduct on A6:A10 with B6:B10 but the formula uses A2:A6 with B2:B6.
Is there a way to fix the ranges when I am using sumprodct so it takes "fixed" ranges like every fifth,
A1:A5 with B1:B5 , A6:A10 with B6:B10, A11:A15 with B11:B15 and so on.

I have a sheet with a number of different columns, is there a way that when data is input into a cell in the first column that it time stamps the last column on the same row, and this time stamp is fixed. Then when data is input into the cell below the same thing happens, so i can have a time stamp for each entry.

I have a column of values. If a row's value is greater than 0, I want to count it as a value of 100 and add the result. I can get this far: =SUMIF(H11:H12,">0")
...but I don't understand what would come next. What I am trying to do is to use the above formula to total the actual sum of an array and then to also create a second column which assigns a maximum value total based on each row's non-zero result being worth up to 100. Using the above formula as a reference again, the formula that I am seeking would return a total value of 200 if both H11 and H12 contained any value greater than 0. I plan to use these two results then to calc a percentage.

Everytime I enter a number, excel automatically converts it to a decimal number.
I type 1 in a cell (or formula box)
Excel returns the value as 0.1
I think it may have to do with the FIX box highlighted to the bottom of the screen. (To the right side of the NUM lock). (I can't paste a screen dump to show the FIX box position). how to remove the FIX box, and/or change excel so that I can enter in numbers normally.

I'm working with a pie chart that has a dynamic range as its data source and a dynamic range as its legend. The chart shows ratios of bought items depending on customer type. So, when you switch from a "Hair" customer to a "Bath & Body" customer, the ratios shift and the legend changes as well (i.e. "Hair - 25%" to "Hair - 10%").
Is there a way to fix the colors permanently so that as the ranges change, the colors remains the same for each category?
I've seen some VBA for it, but it was for data in long columns, whereas my data is in one range in the middle of the worksheet.
I can attach the file if it makes things easier.

i need simulate data in 10 cells with a fixed standard deviation and a fixed mean
Example: Simulating the laptime for a runner where the mean should be 50 and the standard deviation 5,
I tried typing
=50+5*RAND()*(-1^(RANDBETWEEN(1;2)))
That gives me a mean close to 50 which is good but th standard deviation is no where near 5.
