Determine If Worksheet CommandButton Fired Event Code
Apr 20, 2008
When I click on a commandbutton20 on sheet1 it moves the user from sheet1 to sheet2, hides some columns & formats the height of a row in a range of cells I will refer to as Area X. On sheet 2 I have a target condition that if the user clicks on any part of Area X it move the cursor to cell C8. What I want to accomplish is that if commandbutton20 in clicked, the target condition is suspended. otherwise the target condition works. The code I wrote is as follows. What happens when I press F5 to execute it... a macro window pops up.
Private Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Range)
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("a1:x3,e4:x6")) Is Nothing Then
If Worksheets(1).CommandButton20_Click() = True Then
Exit Sub
Else: Range("c8").Select
End If
End If
End Sub
I am working with a large legacy file/program which has a lot of issues. Foremost, and unfortunately this cannot be changed, is that all of the controls were placed directly on the worksheets instead of on Userforms. The actual code from the legacy file is excessively complicated, so I created this simple example. Sheet1 has one textbox and one command button. Sheet 2 is blank. I want to be able to click the command button or use the Enter key on the command button, to trigger the Click Event. Clicking works fine. When using Enter, if Sheet2.Activate is commented, everything works fine. If Sheet2.Activate is executed, then Excel crashes.
Private Sub TextBox1_KeyDown(ByVal KeyCode As MSForms.ReturnInteger, ByVal Shift As Integer) Dim bBackwards As Boolean Select Case KeyCode 'Only look for tab, return, down arrow, up arrow Case vbKeyTab, vbKeyReturn, vbKeyDown, vbKeyUp Application. ScreenUpdating = False 'Do we need to go back to previous control bBackwards = CBool(Shift And 1) Or (KeyCode = vbKeyUp) If bBackwards Then TextBox1.Activate Else CommandButton1.Activate Application.ScreenUpdating = True End Select End Sub Private Sub CommandButton1_KeyDown(ByVal KeyCode As MSForms.ReturnInteger, ByVal Shift As Integer) Dim bBackwards, bForwards As Boolean Select Case KeyCode Case vbKeyTab, vbKeyReturn, vbKeyDown, vbKeyUp Application.ScreenUpdating = False...................
I need to to use VBA to copy a worksheet (which i've managed to do!), but I need the new worksheet to have a Worksheet_Change event. Now when I copy the worksheet, the event doesn't copy over (obviously as its a cut and paste jobby). Any ideas on what code I need to add in the Worksheet_Change event just after the new worksheet is automatically created?
I have seen many examples posted here that are close to what I need, but I am not experienced at writing code, so I am not sure how to make the changes to this code that apply to what I need. So I will try to explain what I am looking for & hopefully not be too long winded:
I have an excel workbook that has several worksheets within it - 10 of the worksheets are identical as far as the formulas that are in each of the cells, however, they are all VLOOKUP cells that refer to another excel workbook (used as a "database")which lists all of our projects - there is a cell in each of the 10 sheets that can be changed that will allow that particular worksheet to access the information in the "database worksheet" for the particular project name that is entered in this cell.
There is currently an event worksheet code for each of these worksheets which allows for a picture to be displayed "floating" above cell (L13) based on the project name that is showing in this cell- however it is based on all of the project pictures "living" in each worksheet (the picture that is called up by the project name is displayed while the rest are hidden - as per the formula)- the code is shown below: Option Explicit
Private Sub Worksheet_Calculate() Dim oPic As Picture Me.Pictures.Visible = False With Range("L13") For Each oPic In Me.Pictures If oPic.Name = .Text Then oPic.Visible = True oPic.Top = .Top oPic.Left = .Left Exit For End If Next oPic End With End Sub
However - this option works fine when there are 5 or 10 pictures/projects - but we are looking to grow our project database. So, I was hoping to be able to store the pictures in another location (such as another worksheet or in a file on the server - I would also appreciate input if anyone has an opinion on which would work better?) and have some type of worksheet event code that can be written in to each worksheet that would access the picture in this "central" location and have them appear in cell (L13) of each worksheet based on the project name displayed.
Is it possible to copy a "Worksheet_change event" macro to a new worksheet by macro? Like when I insert a new worksheet, a certain macro, for example "run macro on data entry", to be already written in its worksheet_change event.
For Each kopSheet In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets If Left(kopSheet. Name, 8) = "Inddata-" Then kopSheet.Copy ActiveWorkbook. SaveAs ThisWorkbook.Path & "" & kopSheet.Name ThisWorkbook.VBProject.VBComponents("Kopier1").Export filNavn Workbooks(kopSheet.Name & ".xls").VBProject.VBComponents. Import filNavn ActiveWorkbook.Close End If Next kopSheet
I copy 6 sheets, named "Inddata-*", and i wan't to copy a module named "Kopier1" with it. I know that i can use an add-in, but that is unfortunately not a good idea in this project. It does export the module "Kopier1", but, it doesn't import it to the newly created workbook!
I am trying to determine if it's possible to control the order of like events. In other words, if I have set up two Worksheet_Change events, can I control which one fires first? Or, as a second best, can I determine which one will fire first?
I am using Office XP on Windows XP, but I'm looking for a generic solution if possible.
how to create commandbutton code so let me explain what I am trying to do and anyone that could provide me with some basic code details to solve my problem:
When the command button is clicked in an excel worksheet I want a pop up box to come up containing specific information sourced from two other excel worksheets depending on the commandbutton. What I want to know is what code do I enter from the visual basic view in order for the box to appear with the right information.
I have a commandbutton (CommandButton1) on a worksheet ("SCHEDULE"). I was wondering if there's a way to freeze the commandbutton on the bottom, on the right... I would like that, when you scroll down or to the right, the commandbutton doesn't move....
My code is:
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click() Dim ScrollRw As Long 'Botón De comando parte inferior izquierda Dim ScrollCol As Integer 'de la hoja "PROGRAMACION" ScrollRw = ActiveWindow.ScrollRow ScrollCol = ActiveWindow.ScrollColumn Modulo1.BorrarTabla 'Código que borra la tabla
Is there a way to write a Worksheet_SelectionChange (ByVal Target As Range) event in module after creating a sheet in VBA? I constantly delete a sheet, then repopulate it with a new one that is empty, but I need to add some code that happens if they should change a particular cell. It worked when I ran it on a worksheet without refreshing, but as soon as I cleared and repopulated the sheet, it was gone. Is there a way to preserve this?
To refresh a UserForm ListBox when new items are added, I Unload and Show the Userform as part of the procedure.
Code: Private Sub CommandButton4_Click() 'do stuff 'do some more stuff 'do a few more things 'finish doing stuff Unload Me UserForm2.Show This returns the UserForm to its Initialized state and displays the refreshed list.
But, this requires the user to click CommandButton6 to continue adding additional items. If CommandButton4 code could click CommandButton6, the UserForm would Show in its "add item" state...I think. Is there a way to programmatically click a CommandButton?
I've already tried 8,321 ways without success...(OK, maybe only 4 ways)
I have a userform which collects fuel data from a pump and populates 2 worksheets (pump1) and (pump2). What I am tyring to accomplish is the following:
When fuelling is finished for the day, the operator selects the (Shutdown) button. When this happens I need the userform to perform the following.
1. For each worksheet (pump1) and (pump2) create new worksheets named (pump1_date) and (pump2_date).
2. Populate these new worksheets with the entire data from the original worksheets.
3. Clear out all but the last row of data from the original sheets. The last row contains the meter readings for the fuel pumps and needs to stay as an opening ballance for the next day. This last row to become the top row of the original sheet.
How do I delete a command button I've entered on my Worksheetright-clicking does nothing;control-key+right-click does nothing alt+ctl+right-clicking does nothingWhat's the secret?
I am trying to make things easier for the next user by having one command button run the macros for the other worksheets (so they don't have to switch between worksheet)
However, I get "Runtime error '1004' Application-defined or object-defined error"
I use excel 2002 but some of my office are on 97, i want to add a small workbook open event code which works for me but debugs for the others?? The code is basically, go to a tab, on that tab and that range sort..
I am trying to determine how to get the code below to fire whenever cell J10 is populated and do nothing when cell J10 is not populated but I can't quite get it. (Cell J10 is manually changed and is not changed based off of a formula)
In cell A1, I have the month number (eg, 1, 2, 3,). The month number reflects current month and will automatically change with every month. For example, right now it’s 6, next month it will automatically change to 7. Each two columns in Range A10:X20 represents the data from January to December. I want to use a worksheet event to change the background of the current month two columns in the range to yellow color and the two columns in the range will be visible when I activate this sheet.
looking to only allow a check ("x") in a column for a reconcile - type worksheet. Am I close?
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) 'Data protection. Only allow "x" in the "cleared" column. If anything else is entered, a message box informs the user 'and the cell contents are cleared. Dim val As Variant Dim msg As String If ActiveCell.Value "x" Then msg = "You can only enter an X in the cleared column." ActiveCell.ClearContents End If End Sub
I written VBA code to create a new sheet and embed a command button on it. I want to assign a macro to this button but when I click on the button the assign macro button is greyed out. I have plenty of macros saved and the VBA code has finished running so why should this be?
I'm looking for a way to identify the caller procedure and to act according to that. I tried the CALLER command but it seems not to be the appropriate one. The sample code is as follows:
Sub AAA() MsgBox "This MsgBox is displayed from within Proc. AAA" BBB CCC MsgBox "This should NOT to be shown if Proc CCC was called from here" End Sub ............
I need to build an Excel application that allows a user to select and download files from a website. The files change daily. Is there a way in VBA to obtain the current list of files that are available for downloading?
I managed to write my script with pretty much the info I could find on the forums (yes!) but I need to write my data to the last row. Columns A - D of the last row will be populated with the content of my variables. This little snipped gives me the first empty row:
I am trying to reference a cell that displays "#NAME?" due to an unrecognized formula. However, I keep getting an "Type Mismatch" error. Is there a way to reference a file that displays "#NAME?"
Example:
If Sheets("sheet1").Range("B6") = "#name?" Then Sheets("sheet1").Range("B3").ClearContents End If
This is probably a simple question, but I couldn't find the answer by searching...
I have a macro that I wish to run which calls one of two different macro's depending on if the user has Excel version 2007 or if they have an earlier version.
This is to overcome 'Save as PDF', which only works in Excel 2007.
I have two combo boxes which are named as AREA and BRANCHES. AREA makes me choose from Math, Science, History. The result of AREA populates BRANCHES. example: if I choose Math in AREA, BRANCHES will make me choose from Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry.
Based from the choice made, all the data that I will put in my userform will go to the corresponding worksheet. example: if I choose Math in AREA and Algebra in BRANCHES, my data will go to a worksheet which has a name of MathAlgebra. If I choose Math in AREA and Calculus in BRANCHES, my data will go to a worksheet which has a name of MathCalulus
