Display The Macro Runtime
Apr 6, 2009I am trying to display a pop-up when a macro starts and display the runtime in Seconds and should close when the Macro completes.

View 9 RepliesI have a bug on a macro that was working until yesterday. I did not write this macro and I cannot seem to fix it. The debug stops at the below command. The data it looks at seems to be in the right format so I think there is something else that is wrong.
Set PTCache = ActiveWorkbook.PivotCaches.Add(SourceType:=xlDatabase, SourceData:=PRange)
I downloaded an excel file from a German student's site. With this file, it is possible to calculate very simply species turnover (I'm a biologist) activating a macro. When I run it, afetr answering lots of questions (which I think I answer well), it appears an "error run-time 9 - subscript out of range". In the download folder there were only two files: turnover.xls and instructions.pdf
Here is the code. The debug highlights the bold line.
.............................................
I have a VBA application in Excel.
In a certain time, when the code is executed in the
Private Sub CB_ValidaHoras_Click()
I am trying to open a xls file and convert into csv. My macro works when I'm in debug mode. but If i run the macro (Not in debug) mode then After opening a file control is not going to next function. What is problem? Even I am not getting any error too
sub open file (FileName as string)
Dim xlx As Object, xlw As Object, xls As Object, xlc As Object
Dim RowNo As Integer
Set xlx = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
xlx.Visible = True
'Set xlw = xlx.Workbooks.Open(SourceFolder + "" + FileName)
Workbooks.Open FileName:=SourceFolder + "" + FileName
' Columns("F:G").Select
' Selection.Delete Shift:=xlToLeft
Save_in_WDrive (FileName)
Set xlx = Nothing
end sub
I manage to find a macro online, which aims to insert a desired formula into desired cell range. However, when I execute the macro, i get a "run-time error, 1004".
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got an interactive chart on a sheet where users select a chart from a combo box control and a picture link to the chart is displayed. The actual charts are on a hidden sheet. I have to activate the charts first for it to work so I put a button the sheet and recorded a macro where I unhide the hidden sheet, select each chart as I scroll down the screen by clicking on it then hide the sheet again and return to the interactive chart.
My problem is that I'm getting an error when the macro tries to select the first chart which is called "Chart 6":
Run-time error '-2147024809 (80070057)':
The item with the specified name wasn't found
I recorded the macro so I'm not sure why the macro isn't working now.
Code:
Sub ResetCharts()
'
' ResetCharts Macro
' Reset all charts
'
'
Sheets("Budget v Actual Graphs").Select
Sheets("Graph BG").Visible = True
ActiveSheet.ChartObjects("Chart 6").Activate
ActiveChart.ChartArea.Select
ActiveWindow.SmallScroll Down:=15
ActiveSheet.ChartObjects("Chart 35").Activate

I am getting a Runtime Error 13 Type Mismatch on some code that I am using. This macro was created to copy a range of data, prompt the user to open a specific workbook, prompt the user to select the uppermost left cell in the range, copy the data and then save and close.
Sub Copy_data9111() ...
I am getting a "Run time error 5", "invalid procedure call or arguement" when I run a macro on a PC other tha the one on which it was created.
In this case both PC's are running on the version 2007 of Excel.
This is the highlighted statement when the macro fails
Code:
ActiveWorkbook.PivotCaches.Create(SourceType:=xlDatabase, SourceData:= _
"SOCX25!R1C1:R" & Lr & "C23", Version:=xlPivotTableVersion14).CreatePivotTable _
TableDestination:="SOCX25!R7C25", TableName:="PivotTable1", DefaultVersion _
:=xlPivotTableVersion14
This first macro works fine:
Sub UnhideHBPorCholesterolQ1toQ3()
'
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "password"
Rows("58:67").Select
[Code]....
why the second macro does not seem to work. I get a Run-time error that says "Unable to set the Hidden property of the Range Class".
When I am running a macro in excel 2003/windows 7 and trying to create a text file, it is giving this error. I am attaching two pictures.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been given a macro recorded on a mac and it works fine with Mac Excel 2011. Unfortunately, I need to make it to work on a windows machine, but it comes up with an error message "macro unable to set width property of the window class. Run-time error 1004". When I press debug it takes me to the line .Width = 1456.
Below is the chunk of the code that becomes highlighted when pressing debug.
With ActiveWindow
.Width = 1456
.Height = 795
End With
I have the following code that allow me to select all of the cells with the color same as the active cell within a selected range:
Sub SelectCellColor()
Dim CellColorFormat As Long
Dim RangeString
[Code]....
I'd like to ask how can I fix the error so that there will not be a limit of the number of colored cells in a selected area?
I've been using a macro successfully for the last couple of years, but this morning when I went to use it, it decided to fail. I have a workbook which contains various spreadsheets. The macro that has failed performs the following tasks:
1. It copies a list of email addresss from an external workbook to a sheet in the current workbook (still works)
2. It copies the referral sheet I want to send to a new file, and saves it with an appropriate filename to an appropriate folder (still works)
3. The macro then creates an email with a standard subject line, attaches the new worksheet and emails it to each of the addresses as above (broken)
The error message is from Microsoft Visual Basic. "Run-time error '1004': Mail system failure. Check your mail installation."
I'm guessing there is a setting somewhere in Excel that has changed as part of an update.
I've been through a number of the options in the developer menu to remove any obvious restrictions (& reopened excel afterwards), but so far it hasn't resolved the problem.
For what it's worth, here is the macro code.
With Application
.EnableEvents = False
.ScreenUpdating = False
End With
Run "PullInSheet1"
Dim oldbook As String
[Code] .......
In case you're wondering about the pullinsheet code, I'll add it below - but I probably grabbed it from this forum a couple of years ago (like some of the above) & just made some changes.
Code:
Sub PullInSheet1()
Dim AreaAddress As String
'''''' Sheet11.UsedRange.Clear
Dim ClRange As String
ClRange = "= 'L:ADMINEMPLOY SERVICES" _
[Code] ........
There are a couple of things I've wanted to do to improve the macro, but I couldn't justify the need to spend time working it out (since writing spreadsheets isn't really my job). Since it's broken at the moment, I can...
1. I'd like to create a subject line that reflects the name of the person being referred. For some reason though, anything other than text in the cell reference caused an error for me. eg, I tried using concatenate to create my subject line, but it didn't work.
2. I'd like the copied sheet to contain all of the formatting of the original sheet. Presumably there is a paste option that will do this and I just picked the wrong one.
The mailsystem we use is Groupwise 8. I couldn't find any settings in that program that have been changed, or that I could change.
I should change the extension from xls to xlsx in the code since I'm using Excel 2010 (but changing it doesn't fix the problem).
I have a userform with a command button which fires a macro.
everything works fine so far.
my problem is:
I would like to add a msgbox at the end of the macro which confirmes "successfully completed".
I cannnot simply add the msgbox at the end of the macro. don't know what I'm doing wrong.
(see below)
Private Sub CommandButtonOK_Click().
If Me.OptionButton1.Value = True Then
ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("PropertyWorksheet").Range("A1").Value = "Government Securities"
ElseIf Me.OptionButton2.Value = True Then
ThisWorkbook.Worksheets("PropertyWorksheet").Range("A1").Value = "Corporate Bonds"
[Code].....
Unload Me
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Sheets("MySheet1").Select
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
'run macro
MyMacro1 (adds, hides and deletes various sheets)

Why Would Inserting A Row In A Spreadsheet Produce A Runtime Error "1004" On A Macro.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a spreadsheet with three sheets („Data”, „20” and „30”). On the Data sheet I have only two rows, and I do not work on this sheet. I work with the sheets 20 and 30. On the sheet 20 I need to sum up the amount of column H. But my problem is that the count of this column (the rows or cells) allways change. Sometimes there are 554 the next day 663 and so on. So I need the macro to sum up the amount of column H two cells under the last cell. I need exactly the same in the sheet 30, but the only difference is that in the sheet 30 the amounts are in the G column (not in H). Finally I need to compare the two summed up amounts (sheet 20 and 30) and they must be equal. So what I would need as macro is that when I run it, it sums up the amounts in both sheets and then in the Data sheet (in the 5th row, cell A) displays the summed up amount and (in cell B) displays OK if the two summed up amounts are equal, or just dislpays ERROR if the summed up amounts are not equal.

Instead of getting an error, I would like the macro to display, "You win!", if cell e1 is =1, "You lose!", if cell e1 is =2, and "tie game", if cell e1 is =0.

I have a spreadsheet and a macro that creates a new sheet and enters some data into the sheet. The user gets to make some changes to the created sheet and then prints it out. I was wandering if there was any way to have a message coming up every 10 minutes remindnig the user about the new sheet untill it was printed out and then the warnings would stop. Could anyone sugest a good way to do that?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter we all spend lots of time developing a macro, we have the desire to show others who may not understand or appreciate what is going on during the time the macro is running.
What is the best way for Excel to explain/display what it is doing in "Laymens Terms" WHILE it's running? (if possible).
I was thinking of something like a slide? It would be good if the text can change at points decided by the person who put the macro together.
Code to have a button perform two macros?
I need the button to
1. Calculate (perform F9 manual calculation)
2. Display a msgbox (MsgBox "Enter a city or zip code to calculate mileage.", vbExclamation, "Travel Schedule")
Is there an operator that lets you string multiple macros or do they need to be recorded separately and recalled in one macro assigned to the button?
Display progress bar with percentage completion.
The below code just display macro is running without notifying user the percentage of completion.

How can I make XL (2000) display the macro start/stop recording and relative/absolute box that used to appear whenever I started recording a macro?
Such an apparently simple issue, but I can't resolve it!
Somehow I lost this small box, and I know how to force it to display via customize, but it doesn’t seem to work the same (relative does not work as such) and the buttons or box disappear.
how I would display a message to the user before the workbook is closed regardless if any changes have been made e.g.
Ideally there would on be an “OK” option only by way of acknowledgement and also no option to close the message by the ‘x’ in top right corner.
I just finished a great macro and right at the end of deleting a sheet, I got a message box saying
"Data may exist in the sheet(s) selected for deletion. To permanently delete the data, press Delete"
How can I eliminate this from popping up in the middle of code?
I have a splash screen I want to display while a macro runs. I've created all the necessary code based on information from this site but have a question about where to actually put the code as all the example I've seen are based on workbook open events.
I tried placing my code
UserForm1.Show
with in the macro I waned the splash screen to be displayed during but that doesn't work. Well, it does, but not as I intended. The splash screen pops up for the specified duration as part of the macro stopping the macro, then closes and the rest of the macro finishes running.
Do i need to call the splash screen from a certain point in the macro I wish it to be displayed during? I dont want the macro to stop running while the splash screen is showing.
I am using a VBA macro (Using mouse clicks as inputs for neuroscience experiment?).
What the macro does is it inputs a timestamp every time a keyboard combination is used (alt+right arrow in this case).
The part of the macro which inputs the timestamp is like this:
Sub AltRight_Sub()
On Error Resume Next
Cancel = True
Cells(Rows.Count, 2).End(xlUp).Offset(1) = Format(Now, "HH:MM:SS")
End Sub
I would like the timestamp to be displayed as HH:MM:SS.00, i.e. show the milliseconds. I tried playing around with the timestamp format (changing it to = Format(Now, "HH:MM:SS.00" or = Format(Now, "HH:MM:SS.0;@")) or = Format(Now, "MM:SS.000") and I tried using = Evaluate("=NOW()") instead of = Format(Now, "HH:MM:SS".
