I have a workbook that is being used by users with both "," and "." as decimal separator. This is working all fine, except for one cell, where I need the number output to be displayed with two decimals. See formula below:
="Open at " & TEXT(+OHL!J$13+OHL!H$15,"0.00") & " and Go"
This example does not work with "," decimal settings.
Is there any different way to force two decimals in a text string, except for TEXT (where the format given in itself limits the cross decimal separator functionality)?
=SUBSTITUTE(A1) in cell 'A2' gives me: 1234567890 =ISTEXT(A2) in cell 'A3' gives me: TRUE
BUT, =A3+1 gives me: 1234567891
Hows that happening? Substitute function gives me the output which is a TEXT, and how is it that when I add 1 to it, I get an answer? Shouldn't I get a #VALUE! error instead?
column I row 11 has a functional argument that simply states to display the output as .843 I need to edit it to .844 and I cannot seem to find out where or howto edit it.
There are others like this that I need to do too so I need to learn how to do it. Not just have someone do it for me.
ALSO as you can see this sheet displays #N/A all over the filled in cells... I would like them to be blank until I enter some pertinent info... I tried this is cell m7 BUT as you can see in m12 it goes back to the N/A
I want to display the path result from a Floyd Algorithm matrix output..
You can download the excel file here : http://ifile.it/lw4tgic It consists of 1044 nodes, and we need to find the path between 2 nodes for ALL pairs..
Now, to find the path between 2 nodes, we need to : 1. Find the resulting cell of corresponding 2 nodes (y to x = z) 2. Update the path with that value (y z x) 3. For all the direct pairs in the current path (yz, zx), find the resulting cell 4. If destination (x) not the same with result (z) then repeat step 1 for that pairs. 5. repeat until x = z for all pairs.
Maybe it's better if i use an example.... we'll use T01 to E78 as an example
T01-E78 = if you look in the table, y (vertical) = T01, x (horizontal) = E78 z (result) = E77, so
T01-E78 = E77, so path = T01-E77-E78
check if result of T01-E77 = E77 (x = z?)...........................
I'm trying to compare 2 worksheets with the same headers(NAME, ADDRESS, CONTACT NO...). What codes should I use that when there is a duplicated row in worksheet A and worksheet B, it will be deleted and when there are 2 names with different addresses and/or contact no, the whole row in file A will be obtained. Output should also be in another worksheet. It goes like this.
worksheet A NAME ADDRESS CONTACT NO JOE ABC 123 MIL XYZ 567 NIK LMN 234 NED QRS 456
[Code]...
So the output should be:
worksheet C NAME ADDRESS CONTACT NO JOE ABC 123 MIL XYZ 567 NIK LMN 234 NED QRS 456 JIM JKL 345 SAM FGH 789
I am using this formula to output data into a cell:
=MID(A1,4,2)
The cell value is 50. I am wanting it to appear as 5.0 instead. Can I do this by adding to the formula above or will I need to utilize another cell to accomplish this?
I am having trouble using the MATCH function in my code. I am looking for a match in one worksheet from a cell in another. I have defined these cells and ranges as variables. However, it doesn't seem to be working with my application. I would like to find the row of the matching cell and use the output of the MATCH function to determine the next step in my code with an IF function. Here is my code. (NOTE: this is my edited code, I removed irrelevant pieces. The major problem is the MATCH function.)
What I would like to do is output the first 4 characters of a cell into another cell. eg Cell A1 has "1234 Sydney". If I just use the manual formula "=left(A1,4)" it would give me the correct output "1234" in say cell B2, but as a formula. As I need to automate this in a macro, how could you code this in VBA to output the String "1234" into cell B2(ie the actual output rather than a formula)?
I am having some trouble with the "mid()" function. I have it saved as a variable which pulls 6 digits from another variable. I was trying to paste from the mid variable into my excel worksheet but it keeps on telling me that there is an object required error.
The goal is to input the "mid()" output in my code into a cell in the spreadsheet.
I would like to know if it is possible for the output from a match function to be correlated to a location? The output I receive is just a number. I would like to use this number as the row, but I would like to hyperlink it into a formula so that I can create a macro for this process.
In essence I would like for a number in one cell to become a location in another cell.
I want to pass an array to a function, and am unclear how to do it. For example, the following declaration does not work:
Public Function xyz(a() as Variant) as Double
There is an additional requirement that I would like the output also to be a range of the same dimensions, typically one column and 100 rows. Is this possible?
A further twist is that the function I am writing calculates two values for every element in the input array and I need the output of them both.
An inelegant solution would be to write two separate functions, but I was wondering if it is possible to get two array outputs from a single function.
The problem that I have is rolling over the sum total after the meter read reaches thousand it starts at 1 again, but I need the total KMs traveled for example in the car dash board the odometer shows 945 when I started my trip and end at 24, how would I set up a formula in excel to calculate the total KMs traveled
I am attempting to multiply the value of strings/integers for an output in a function macro. I know it's a simple question, but a simple answer would be suffice. I'm in the middle of a massive brain fart...
Can a Function give two or more output variables. e.g.
Sub a() x = 5 result = Y(x) End Sub
Function Y (x As Integer) As Integer Dim B B = ... * x Y = ... * B
this will give back Y as a result. But if I want to get 2 or more output variables (let's say I need to get also B into sub) from one function, how should I do that? I need this because function works with large matrix and I want to extract some values appeared in between.
I am trying to do a mass import of several thousand excel files into one file. The headers of all the files are the same, but the data inside each file is different. I thought about using Access but it wants me to import each individual one.
I'm using a vlookup formula, and the thing I'm searching by is a part number. The problem is that in my table array, all the cells for part numbers have that green error flap in every cell, saying "The number in this cell is formatted as text or preceded by an apostrophe."
Some part numbers have letters on the end of them, ie: 12345N. When I go into a particular cell's error drop down menu and choose "Convert to Number," the vlookup will work with this cell. My problem is that the table array is several thousand rows, and I don't know how to fix them all at once.
I'm trying to have it output certain symbols such as "Ó" and I can't quite figure out how to do it, i want it to basically write in the selected cell:
"Ó of " & a & "'s = " & b
where a and b are strings... my problem is i cant figure out how to have it output the sigma but keep the letters from going into symbol or windings...
i am currently working on a macro that will make an average number of days. my problem is that when the macro runs it works fine and does what is is supposed to but becuse some fields do not have numbers in it returns the #value! back in the output box. I need some way of getting rid of this, or changing the boxes without numbers to 0 automatically.
I am working on a VBA routine that calc and verifies hash files for a series of folders and sub directories, using a command line prog called exactfile.exe (exactfile.com). It is very similar to M$'s FCIV utility, but it is actually supported on Win7/Win8. The issue I am having is that I cannot get the standard output/error/console stream to redirect to a text file. I've written the routine multiple ways, trying to figure out redirection. I was using this site
HTML Code:Â [URL]....
as a reference.
Here is my VBS approach. This code is dependent on another sub passing folder_name as a string
[Code] .....
The VBS then executes using wscript, however, since exf.exe does not return an exit code the same way FCIV.exe does, I need the results redirected to a text file. The results vary from a single line saying "No errors." or multiple lines indicating which files do not match their original hash.
Here are a couple iterations of my BAT approach, where i use the BAT to call the VBS. I really thought I would be able to use the standard redirect > here, since the executable is launched using cmd.exe, but I've not gotten the results I want.
[Code] .....
I've scoured more pages than I can count, but no approach seems to work, so far.
Need coding of command button to output text based on the contents of combobox1 and combobox2. The text should be placed in the next available cell starting in cell b3 for combobox1 and starting in cell c3 for combobox2. Each time submit is clicked the name and number associated with that name should go in the next free cell in the spreadsheet.
So for example the user choses name1 and number6 cell b3 would read name1 and cell c3 would read number6 after submit is clicked. The user then choses name58 and number12 and presses submit again cell b4 would read name58 and cell c4 would read number12.
