Displaying And Returning Different Value In Dropdown List
Apr 22, 2010
I know how to create drop down list but I have a problem to Return different value then is displayed in Dropdown List. For example: On the workbook I have two wokssheets: one with empty cell and secound with list created for dropdown list.
On the secound woksheet I have created: column A namebox "Country" - cointains full name of countries (Great Britain, Australia ...) and column B namebox "CountryCode" - contains country codes only (GBR, AUS ...) When I click on dorp down list on first worksheet, I would like to my drop down list display me list with columnA "Country" but when I choose one of that it would returns me cell from columnB "Country Code".
I have a project I'm working on that requires me to display information from various sheets on a dashboard. I have created a data validation dropdown list with part numbers. When one of these part numbers is selected from the drop down list I need the rest of the fields to populate with the appropriate information from various sheets in the workbook. How do I tell the dashboard to display this information per part number?
I wanted to create a multiple drop down lists (using data validation) in column B (50 in all, every 3rd line) whereby, multiple, comma deliminated, results would display in each of the cells - for use elsewhere in the spreadsheet.
I found some code (as follows) which worked perfectly for me
VB: Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim rngDV As Range Dim oldVal As String
[Code].....
As I mentioned above, I don't really understand the code and all I know is that the line about halfway down "If Target.Column = 2 Then" is defining which column (B) this will work in.
The problem I am having is that I need to protect the worksheet and the moment I "protect" the worksheet, the functionality of displaying multiple values goes away and the drop-down list reverts to only displaying one of the available values.
Actually I plan to create an eRequisition Form for our branch sites. My focus would be the consumable items of Lexmark printers. I want to create cascading drop-down lists based on data table (worksheet : All) as per attached. From lots of examples I've seen in this or other similar forums, I notice that in order to allow this cascading to work is by creating column with header name identical with the input in the 1st List. But I'm thinking, if I need to do that, then there gonna be hundreds or maybe thousands columns to create as the number of branches are expanding, so I think tht should not be practical.
I found examples that shows how lookup 1 value can return multiple values but I totally cannot think of a way to allow those multiple values to be returned as dropdown list rather than displaying all in rows of the worksheet.
What I need is that, in 1st list, upon selecting the branch, it'll populate all items related to the branch and when selecting the item, it'll populate brand/model list for the particular item only. The input in the dropdown list should not have duplicates. Been trying using pivot to do this with macro that enables auto refresh once any changes made in the table.
create this cascading drop-down lists just based on the table as per attached? I really want to avoid having to create extra tables to allow this cascading to work.
I have a list of questions that need to be filtered by the user and i was looking for an effective way to do it.
Column A is the question number Column B is the Question Category Column C is the actual question.
The user wants to use a dropdown box and select the question category. the results they will get are the question number and the question. there may be several questions within a category so all questions need to be displayed for the category that is selected.
(I havnt explored the use of a list as it gives the user the chance to display all the questions and i am trying to keep the viewing space that this list takes up to an absolute minimum). Also i have mentioned a dropdown box as these are very familiar to the user and so they could use it without the risk of user error. I have attached a list of the questions.
I am looking to find the best method of pulling data from a Lookup Table I would like to set up a drop down with all the relevant Steel Sections we make it work and have it access the information and display just that information a separate face page. The information I have set up on the lookup and have named ranges fro them all But how do I get the drop down to trigger the process.
I am trying to create a drop down list that when selected will display data in the 10 rows below and 4 columns, so a total of 40 cells. I would like the data to be based on the selection in the drop down list.
i have 27 different combinations of the above list with up to 10 different rows. I have a label for each one, but i cannot get the rows below my drop down list to display the proper values base don the selection in the drop down list.
I have this data inputted into excel sheet: [URL] .......
This data is in tab called Shops, that has 8 columns of information. In another sheet called control, I have the shops names from row A in a list box. What I am trying to do is when whatever shop is selected in the list box then output the shop information from that row in 8 different cells in another sheet. I have a list of about 200 shops that I need to input.
So if we pick shop, Abc inc from the list box how can I get excel to look up the information in Abc inc in the shops tab of information and then display them on other cells in different sheets.
I have the same issue with making a list box of people names. I made the list box but I want to make it so it will display there phone number and e-mail address in 2 other cells once you pick there names. I had some luck using the if command on smaller list boxes but I can't figure out how to get multiple cells of information to come out correctly
If a user selects certain options from a drop down list created by cell verification (from list), is it possible to display an input box and have the resulting input populate on another worksheet in the workbook? I have an attendance template I'm working with and if a user selects OT (Over Time) then a input box is displayed prompting for how many hours. The overtime is then tracked on another worksheet.
when i use vlookup in a col and try to filter #n/a.the #n/a is not getting displayed in auto filter list but when i scroll down i can see some #n/a available.i alway do it after pasting it as values
I have 8 items in a drop down list that all have the same variables that i've listed on a separate worksheet. I want to select one item from the drop list and then have only its variables appear. And then when I change the item from the drop down list all of the variables will update for that item - and have them displayed always in the same cell.
Attached is a sample file that has a Data entry sheet in which the user can paste in data. They can test & paste anywhere from 1 to 50 compounds at a time and run the list through 1 to 55 Assays. I want to generate a sheet (Plate & Assay Info) that would first display the list of compounds that were tested as well as the list of Assays that they were run through.
I'm creating a spreadsheet to keep track of my costs of production in an online game. Within the game there are a range of spawned resources that appear for only a short time before being unobtainable these resources have specific types that is shared between multiple spawns of the resource but each resource spawn has a unique name.
My first worksheet lists all the resources and their various qualities and the later worksheets are meant to allow me to choose from a list resources matching the requirements of the item I'm looking to craft. The example i have shown in the second picture requires Tatooinian Fiberplast and Lokian Wild Wheat to craft so in the Chosen Resource column I would like to have a drop down list allowing me to select the named resource type i would like to use - for Tatooinian Fiberplast the only thing on the list should be Omnitwixi and for the Wild Wheat it should show Fizi and Krad

I am aware there are people with more pressing problems than computer games and as such
Is there a way to create a drop down list from a comma delimited list in a single cell? For example, col A is Name & Col B is the delimited list - Blue,Red,Green (list can be different for each name). Would like a drop down list in col C that allows you to pick one of the values from Col B.
I found code online that I can put on my sheet to get my formatting properties to stay the same for the items in my dropdown list located on another page. However the code does not work for conditional formatted cells...which is what I need. This is the code that I have that will carry over regular formatted cells. Just not Conditional formatted cells.
I'm looking for a way to get a unique list from a column to a data validation drop down list. Any fancy formula or vba script to create a UDF which. Does this?
I have a workbook with 7 sheets, the drop down list operates correctly on all but one sheet, it used to work on all sheets. The arrow on the right of the selected cell dose not appear onthis particulr sheet. I have rebooted the PC and double checked the in-cell option. I have search the forum for similar problem and found the same problem but no remedy.
I have 3 related dropdown lists that work perfectly, if you enter data from left to right. But, if you click in the cell containing the second list, which is based on the first list, of which nothing has been selected, you can just type any value in the cell. Is there a way to prevent this, or at least validate that what is entered is a value in the list.
fill the column "Level 2 Area" based on the value selected from "Level 1 Area" which is coming from a drop down list. So the "Level 2 Area" will be a drop down list also based on the selected value from the drop down list from "Level 1 Area".
I am trying to create a summary Calendar that would display all the names of the people who are off on a given day. I have a grid where I display each day of the month and a person in the group has their own column. If they are out of the office for any reason their name appears in that row. In the big Summary Calendar cell for each day of the month I want to look across all the people columns for that day and then display the names of the people who are not going to be in the office. Can I do this by a formula or will using VBA work best.
Im trying to organize a tools inventory list. Its supposed to be sort of like an order sheet for each department. But what I want to do is when I select either CARPENTRY, or any of the other trades from a drop-down list, I'll be able to select from another drop-down list items associated with that trade in particular. So eventually I want the master data hidden, preferably in another sheet. I searched all of Google but it seems a bit complicated to get it done. I've attached the sheet so that you can see what I'm talking about. MOVE IN MASTER LIST.xlsx
trying to come up with a formula that will return the last non-zero value in a row. In the example below, I'd like the formula to return the value "456". If there is a way to do this without VBA or array formulas, that much the better!
The conversion rate is updated daily from telephony reports, and I manually sort it into conversion order each day before sending it round.
What I want to do is find the highest converter for each team.
So:
Column A ('TeamLeader' range) has the Team leaders in, column B has the agent name ('Agent' range), and column F has the agents conversion rate ('conversion' range).
I think I'm on the right track with this formula:
=(MAX(IF(TeamLeader="Bonnie",Conversion))
But this only displays the figure in the Conversion rate, how to I get it to 'step back' 4 column's and show the agents name?
Is there any function in Excel that returns all values from a list above or below a certain percentage rank/percentile?
For instance, if you want the average of the 2% highest numbers in a list? Or the sum of the 25% most expensive items in a shopping catalogue?
It has to be a "dynamic" function, where you can just drop in a set of figures, sort the list, add a percentile, and perform a calculation on all the figures from the cutoff point signalled by the percentile...
