Refine Pivot Table Source Data On Drill Down

Oct 26, 2007

Attached is a file which shows the problem. I bascially have two headings. The first heading contains the letter "b" 9 times but only has values against two "b"s. When this is entered in a pivot table and the value is drilled down (in this case 3, highlighted in yellow), I only want the numbers attached to the two "b"s to be shown rather than all the 9 b's (thereby omitted all the zeros).

Apply A Filter In A Pivot Table And Extract Results In A Table

I have made a pivot table and I dlike to identify with a macro the documents with net value over 1000. Then extract these values next to the respective sales documents in an are near the pivot table somewhere. The fields are called Document and Sum of Net value. Of course the pivot is very variable one time it has 3000 records and another 5000.

Pivot Tables And Showdetail/drill Down

Nov 14, 2007

it possible to get a drill down of multiple cells from a pivot table into the same sheet easily, as when I use

Range("BE23:BE26").Select
Selection.ShowDetail = True

it only pulls out the first drill down (i.e. the equivalent of double clicking BE23)

I'm sure there's a work around I can write which performs each drill down separately then combine the sheets, but it's probably going to end up fairly longwinded!

Deleting Drill-down Sheets With Pivot Tables

Jul 11, 2006

I've just set up a workbook full of pivot tables linked to an access database. The book will be used by several individuals interested in both the statistics presented in the tables and in the details underlying them. My concern is the accumulation of the extraneous sheets generated by drilling down to details. Is there any code I could use that would delete these sheets as soon as the user leaves them?

Compounding Results In A Pivot Table

Mar 3, 2014

In the attached file I have a pivot table created from the data in A:D.

By default the pivot table sums the values for each product (e.g. 18.00 for the sales of Product A). Instead of adding the values for each product I would like to get the pivot table to compound the values for each product. In columns J and K I have shown the results that I would expect when compounding the values of sales and profit for each product. Data for more dates will be added in A:D.

how to achieve this using a pivot table.

Survey Results In Pivot Table

Jul 25, 2007

I have just recently finished inputting data into a spreadsheet which is a whole bunch of survey responses and I am trying to figure out the best way of now “analysing” it. Unfortunately the questionnaire consists of various types of questions, including some open ended, some where the participant selected a number on a scale, or the participants could select any number of options (e.g. tick any that apply).

From a brief search, I see that you can’t have two headings as such for a pivot table so I am wondering what the best approach might be. I have attached a sample spreadsheet. I have a hunch though that it’s going to be a matter of analysing each question individually and using filters and countif formulas (see attached).

Macro To Run Vlookups On Pivot Table Results

Jul 14, 2014

I'm trying to write a macro that will look up information about clients that result from a pivot table. Depending on what two inputs are put into the pivot table (coverage, existing or target company) the client names that the vlookup needs to reference will change.

The vlookup information for each client would paste into a different cell on another worksheet, and change depending on which clients came up in the pivot table. So the macro would need to look up clients from a specified range that the pivot table is in.

What is it with Pivot Tables and their gigantic file size increases. I have a file. Which has a table of data behind it of approximately 5000-6000 rows and ~ 100 columns of data. If I save the file without the Pivot Table it's filesize is Mb. If I save it with the Table and Chart its filesize increases to over 10 Mb. I am experimenting with dynamically creating the pivot table so that I can conserve storage space but if someone has some idea on why pivot tables consume so much space

Compressing Large Pivot Table File

Jun 7, 2013

My pivot table file is currently 12.7 MB and I need to get it much smaller so I can email it and it still be functional with the data.

I have tried right clicking on the pivot table, going to PivotTable Options, clicking on the data tab, unchecking the 'save source data with file' box, and checking the 'refresh data when opening file' box. This shrunk the file perfectly but when i email the file the Pivot Table was unusable because there was no data to back up the function.

The Error messages I got were 'Cannot open PivotTable source file'..... and 'Pivot Table report was saved without the underlying data. Use the Refresh Data command to update the report'. When I click on Refresh Data I still get the same error message.

Any way I can make this File smaller and still functional.

Create Pivot Table For Each File In Folder?

Apr 5, 2012

I have the following code that will open each file in a folder and run code on it. I'm trying to write code that will create a pivot table on each of the opned files...but cannot get past opening the file...

So I had built the vba code into a specific workbook so I could just drop that workbook into any folder I wanted to run code on files to and depending on the name of the file it would run different type of code. The problem has something to do with using "activesheet" for the pivot table wizard. It just doesn't like it and gives me a application 1004 error.

any way I can modify the activesheet so it will make a pivot of the newly opened file? I think what it is trying to do is make a pivot of the blank workbook that the code resides in

Sub filelooper()
MyDir = ActiveWorkbook.Path ' current path
Dim MyFile As String

[Code].....

Allowing User To Pick CSV File To Source Pivot Table

How do I go about allowing the user to pick the file from the "open file" dialog?

Excel 2010 :: Pivot Table Reference Is Not Valid When Moving Data And Pivot Table Together?

Mar 19, 2013

On a worksheet, I created:

- a list of data
- a pivottable based on these data

When moving this worksheet this worksheet to another workbook, the pivot table can't refresh anymore. This throws an error message "Reference is not valid". To work around this problem I need to adapt the datasource. The same occurs if the list and the pivot table are on separate sheet, with the added strange behaviour that, when data an PT are split, it is not possible to move both sheet together.

This would not be a big issue if my problem had to be solved manually. The real problem is that I need to move the sheets from a C# program.

VBA - Adjust Pivot Table Included Fields To Match Another Pivot Table

Mar 14, 2013

I have a worksheet with two pivot tables, one of which is visible to the user. Ideally, the user should be able to change the "Row Label" field settings of the visible pivot table and then press an "update button" that then adds the same field to the second pivot table.

Ideally, the ordering of the fields should also be made similar between the two tables, though this is of less priority.

I imagine it would be something in the style of:

"If number of Pivot1 active row label fields = X then
Pivot 2.AddRowLabelField = Pivot1.RowLabelField(X)
end if"

Data Table: Incorrect Results Inside Table

I did a data table yesterday and it worked. I tried again today and the results are incorrect. They are coming out as a constant (the same result as the original formula). Has anyone had this happen before and figured out how to fix? My spreadsheet is fairly complex. Does the data table formula need to refer to the "base" cells? For example, if the formula refers to cell F15, but in F15 the formula is +C15, does my data table formula need to use C15?
