I have A dropdown list (form control combo box) ...in that the values are jan,feb,mar,apr... property of cell link is given as C4..... now my doubt is suppose if i select mar from drop down, in sheet the cell C4 should Show Mar only.....

I have Excel 2003 installed on the companies computers. Many people use an Excel file and I am trying to make their work easier. There is on command which has a dropdown list made by me. What I would like to find out is that is there any possibility to make Excel help the user to choose from the drop-down list (the list is quite big). Is it possible to select a cell in this column and type in the cell and then Excel help the user. I mean (this list contains country names in abc order) if the user types S and W then Excel auto-corrects it to SWEDEN. Can this be done with Excel 2003?

Auto Complete With Drop Down List

I have developed a spreadsheet that allows a user to "Autocomplete" a name by doubleclicking on a cell and typing in a few letters of the person's name.

I named the range that I want to appear in my list and I created the combobox in sheet 1, not in a userform. My problem is that when I doubleclick on a blue cell in Sheet 1 and type in a few letters of the person's name, the name doesn't fill into the cell. I have already specified a ListFillRange, so the Combobox knows what I am looking for. For some reason, the drop-down list is hard coded and won't populate the name that the combobox has already found. I don't receive any errors from the code that is already in place. If you could help me figure you how to get the names to populate in the blue cells, I would greatly appreciate it.

Attached is an example. If you try doubleclicking and typing in, say "Doe, John" in one of the blue cells in Sheet 1, you will see his name, but when you hit enter it won't populate. The cell stays blank!

How do i remove the blanks in the drop down list whenever i delete the data in the Source Data.

Auto Date Stamp With Drop Down List?

I'm producing a new spreadsheet to track issues and thier completion. I've used the code I have on another spreadsheet, that I got off this site, thanks. What I would like to change are the following:

1) The status column (F) uses a drop down list, located in cells Z1 to Z5.
When an option is selected, the date updates in column G automatically.
What I would like is for the date to only update in column G if the drop
down list is changed to Completed.

2) If the status is changed to completed by mistake, and then changed back
I would like the date to disappear.

Finally, can I make the date columns jump automatically so the person entering the data goes from column F to column H.

I have a large list of data records, 600+, and would like to use List Validation but find EXCEL's default Validation not appropriate for such long lists. What would be perfect is similar to what you get in Access, when you type in part of the record string required, a drop-down list appears and shows you the record entries that have that string within them and not necessarily in character order, quickly wittling down to the few records that apply and then use your arrow keys to move and select the correct record, etc. Example, I own a salon, and many shampoo ranges have many similar products:

Auto Fill Cells Depending On Drop Down List Selection

I am trying to make a calendar spreadsheet to enable me to track allowance payments i am due from my company.

This payment is worked out by three conditions - where i am working (7 regions), how many days of the week (4,5,6 or7) and how many hours (<7,8-9 or 10-12)

I have made drop down lists to select each of the values for the three conditions and want to show the total for them

i can total the entire spreadheet for the month up using fairly large "COUNTIF" statements, but i want to be able to show what the exact amount is in each cell not just a complete total.

i.e. i am away for 6 days i get £15 extra, if i am in Europe i get another £50 and if i work 12 hours i get £30.

I want to be able to calculate this total in each cell for that day.

I can send a copy of the spreadsheet i have got at the moment if that will make things clearer than what i have tried to explain.

I have an excel workbook with two sheets. Sheet 1 has a list of people names, rank, address, and phone numbers. Sheet 2 has boxes where a user can select a last name from all last names in sheet1. What I want to happen after the user selects the last name in sheet 2 is for it to automatically fill in the rest of the data (ie Rank, First Name, Address, city, Home phone number, Cell Phone number). What do I need to do in order for this to work?. Attached is a very small example of my much larger project.

I'm trying to create a drop down list which returns values based on what has been selected in the previous drop down list in the adjacent cell, e.g. if 'Apples' is selected in the previous cell then you should only be able to select from 'Gala, Granny Smith', or if 'Oranges' is selected you should only be able to select 'Seville, Blood Orange'. Is there a formula which would do this, or can I use a pivot table somehow? I'm totally stumped.

update code based on a dynamic range of cells, which worked! I want to drop a csv file into one sheet, and copy the data to another sheet. However, if I drop a new csv file in, and there are fewer rows, the old rows aren't deleted. For example, if my first set of data had 10 rows, and the new has 8, the extra two rows are still there.

Copy Paste Print Macro For Drop Down List

I have tried to create a macro which prints the results of each heading in a drop down box. The listfill range is from B2 to B5 and the linked cell is B1. When manually recording the macro, i copy the heading from B2 into B1, the drop down list updates which in turn updates the cells which are linked to that, i then print out the page. The same happens when i copy-paste cells B3, B4, & B5 into B1. I then return finish the macro by copying B2 into B1.

But when i run the macro, the copy paste works but the drown down list doesnt update, therefore it doesnt update my linked cells so i acutally end up printing 5 indentical pages with the same info.

Is there anything i can do to get around this?

I'm not including my spreadsheet because it has company information however, I will try to articulate my request as best I can. I currently have an Excel spreadsheet with about 20 worksheets, I would like to be able to click on the first worksheet, create a "Drop Down box" or "Data Validation" box or whatever I need to do to be able to view information in a range of cells on ANOTHER worksheet within the same workbook.

I've tried Data Validation, Drop Down Boxes, Define name ranges, all to NO avail. I'm missing a step somewhere, because I'm still not able to view the information on the first worksheet.

I'm need to add a droplist with periods 1,2,3,4 etc... that references a cell then populates that same reference in a cell raange. Example: cell E1 contains the droplist with periods 1-4 as choices to select from, when you select period 1 it populates the dates jan 15 in cells E4:E7, if you select period 2 it populates dates jan 31, etc. how to add the droplist, how to expand the list, show the formula and how to expand it as I will have more data than this short example.

I am trying to create individualized worksheets based off a master worksheet. I have different committee names that I want to appear on the individualized sheets, based on whether the person is apart of that committee or not. On my master sheet, I choose the persons name under the committee and I want that committee name to show on the individualized sheet. For example, I want A1 on Master to show on Name 1, B3 and A10 on Master to show on Name 1, C3. Can I write a formula to achieve this or or am I asking too much? In my actual file, I will have about 10 names and 5 committees with one person being on up to all 5 of the committees.

Auto Shift Cells Down OR Copy Data To List

I'm trying to have one cell be the constant place I enter data and then when I hit enter, I'd like the data I entered to be moved down to the cell below it. Then for every new number I enter in that first cell, it would auto shift the previous data down and add the new data to the cell below it.

Basically, I'd like to record data but I dont want to have to scroll to the bottom every time to enter new data since this list will be continuously updated. And I'd like the most recent data entered to be on top.

Then I want to take the top 100 cells in that column, and do a running average of them.

So im setting up a big list of stuff, and basically i have multiple sheets.

One of them is a "master sheet" so to speak, and the rest are sub-sets of data.

Is it possible to have the Master sheet updated automatically every time data is entered on one of the sub sheets?

Basically its an alphabetical list of names, and my sheets are "Master sheet" "sheet A, Sheet B" etc .... so If I enter a name on Sheet B, or format the cells on sheet B, is it possible to have that automatically copied to the master sheet?

its becoming a pain to have to enter the same name on two sheets manually.

Auto Copy In To Cell On A Linked Sheet

I am wondering if there is a formula/macro/VBA that will find the last date entered in a column and fill that date in to a cell on a linked sheet.

example:

sheet ONE has columns C through S. (each customer has its own sheet)
On this sheet, in column H the date of the last payment made is entered. This date of course changes as payments are made, so the row would change as well.

sheet TWO has columns C through O. (all customers on this one sheet)
The rows on this sheet remain the same for each individual customer.
I would like the last date entered on sheet ONE column H to be auto copied to sheet TWO column O.

Is there a way to have the last date entered on sheet ONE auto copy to Sheet TWO?
