Excel 2007 :: Change Username In Mouseover Status Bar Message For Cell Comments?

I am having with Excel 2007.

When I hover the mouse over a cell with comments, the status bar displays a message; for example "Cell A12 commented by A satisfied Microsoft Office user".

I only get this message for one column. The cells in all other columns give my first and second name as the author of the cell comment.

Why it is only effecting one column. I have been unable to change the annoying "commented by A satisfied Microsoft Office user" to my own name.

Is there a macro that can do this? I tried two macros I found online, both from a few years back, but neither of them worked.

How can i break the links in a row of cells but still retian the cell comments thereafter.

At the moment, the comments dissapear after editing the links in excel 2007 that i am using.

Changing the display (foe cells with comments, show) under file-options-advanced has not really worked.

I have an Excel 2007 workbook with several sheets, and various cells in several of the sheets have column headers with a description in the same cell enclosed in curly brackets, e.g. Header{Description}. I would like to to keep the column headers in their respective cells, but move (cut) the descriptions along with the brackets to the respective cell comments.

I have a few dozen pictures created when a macro runs. They all have unique names. I'd like to add comments to cells, where the cell.value decides which picture to pull. All the examples I've found online show how to do this if you have pictures saved on your hard drive by referencing the file path "c://mydocs/...blahblah/"

Is there a way to reference the pictures I've created/named with my macro?

Here's the snippet of code that creates the pictures and names them:

Excel 2007 :: SharePoint / Checking File Status

I'm working with a file from SharePoint (FileA), "FileA" goes out to Sharepoint and opens "FileB" (if not already open) then copies information from "FileA" to "FileB". However if "FileA" is left open, or someone else has it open I am unable to open "FileA". How in VBA can I check to ensure I don't have it open locally (if so swich and continue), checkout and open in SharePoint (if not already open) or Prompt with options to force checkin, checkout to copy info?

Simple VBA copy I used:

Using Excel from Office 2007, and WinXP Pro OS

I have a spreadsheet which contains 2 drop down pick lists in Field1 and Field2.

Code:
FIELD1 | FIELD2 | FIELD3

In Cell A2, I have this set in Data > Data Validation:

Allow: List
Source: =CatList

If the user selects a value from the CatList range, then the drop-down options in Field2 are updated accordingly.

In Cell B2, I have this set in Data > Data Validation:

Allow: List
Source: =INDIRECT(A2)

The Ranges are as follows:

I'd really like to be able to add a message into FIELD3, which is based on the value in Cat2

e.g. using pseudocode, something like:

If Field2 value = "Apologies" then put this message in Field3: "This requires approval from A"
elseif Field2 value = "Triangle" then put this message in Field3: "This requires approval from XYZ"
elseif Feidl2 value = "Bat" then put this message in Field3: "This does not require approval"

Basically this is for an access form, and I need to be able to add a feedback message to field3 based on what's in Field2.

I thought about using the INDIRECT option to add messages but I can't see how I'd do it. Maybe VB would do it, but I don't know it well enough.

How To Select Range In VBA For Excel Status Email Where Status Not Equal To

I have some vba code that currently copies a status table out of a worksheet, into a temp file for an email. The status table in excel has a column D which can have different status. I want to select everything in the table except rows that are 'Descoped'. Currently my code looks like:

Set rng2 = Sheets("Execution Status").Range("B2:F420")

This picks up everything without looking at the status. I want to change it so it doesn't pick up the rows where Column D contains 'Descoped'.

In pseudo code I would describe it as:

Set rng2 = Sheets("Execution Status").Range("B2:F420") where value in D5:D420 is not equal to 'Descoped'.

I have tried:

Set rng2 = Sheets("Execution Status").Range("B2:F420").Value "Descoped" and nothing gets selected.

Change Status Cell Via Form

I have a company and I try to keep a record of all my clients in Excel. Below, you can find a simplified example:

Now, I have so many clients that my Excel file is quite large. So when I want to change the status of a contract, I have to manually look up the file number and change the status manually.

What I ideally would like, is a form that says:

Change status to paid: xxxxxxxx

Where the x's are, I would have to enter the file number, press enter and the corresponding status should change to "paid". I have about 30 contracts a day that change status.
I tried to "draw" what I mean:

I work for a UK charity and have a list of funders in an Excel 2007 spreadsheet.

One of the columns refers to the date on which a new application for funding can be made to that particular funder.

In many cases new applications for funding can't be made for 1 or more years since the last application - sometimes as many as 5 years later. How to get a cell to refer to the date that it contains.

For example, say I have in cell A1 "The Acme Funding Organisation" and in cell B1 (i.e. the "Reapply when?" column) a date of 01/04/2013 (British date format, i.e. 1 April 2013) then what I want Excel to do is to look at the date in cell B1 and if that date has been reached to highlight the cell red. That way I'll know that the reapply date has been reached & that a new application can be made.

Display Username In Message Box That Has A File Open

I have bit of code that:
(1) opens another spreadsheet
(2) updates that spreadsheet
(3) saves that spreadsheet
(4) closes that spreadsheet

If the spreadsheet that requires updating is open by another user, I display a message indicating the file is open and no updates occured. There are about 20 persons within the organization that may have this file open? Is there away to display the username of the person who has the file open?.

I am creating a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel 2007 which holds information about the airline Emirates which I have created using information from the internet. I am currently creating a sheet which has all their flights in and holds information about the departure time and arrival time of the flight and the type of aircraft ect. I am wondering if there is anyway in being able to have the cell which has the flight number in to change colour (Green or Red) if the flight is in the air or not by using the departure and arrival times already set on the sheet. I am wondering if you possibly need to have a live time on the sheet so that it can work with that .....

I am an Excel 2007 user.

I have a formula (below) that looks only at records based on specific filtering criteria or conditions; one of those conditions is the month of the year: ('Data Dump'!$Q:$Q,Summary!$A$26). This portion of the formula would change as a month is selected.

Opposed to having to rewrite the formula every time that I want to view a specific month, I want to automate the formula to change the first condition when a user selects a month from Column A. This would be a real time, automatic refiltering and recalculation as the user selects different months from Column A

Current Formula that filters and shows only January records.

I have a spreadsheet that monitors employees rest periods between shifts across a number of weeks I've started writing a very basic piece of code so if the employee has less than 12 hours rest, a message box will appear with a warning:

So far this is what I've done:

MsgBox "Candidate has had less than 12 hours rest since last shift worked. Please find another candidate to work this shift", vbOKOnly, "Unable to Use Candidate!"

Now this does work if I run the macro and then enter the data into cell I7, however I'm now stumped - How can I make it so that this message box pops up automatically when the data is entered into the cell without me have to go in and run the macro?

I also need the macro to run all the way down the I column (I7:I100) and across other columns which will eventually contain the same data i.e. M7:M100, Q7:Q100, all the way across to AT7:AT100?

2007 Excel spreadsheet. My company currently shares ONE spreadsheet to generate new project numbers (Shown below). My issue is once a new number is assigned, it is supposed to be entered into our accounting software but that doesn't appear to be happening in some cases.

Is there a way that a pop up message can appear when column G is populated (Entered by)? Something like, "please be sure to enter this XYZ".

We are looking to have the unit number yellow box (A1) change to match the unit status box color (I15:I19) with RED being first priority then ORANGE, YELLOW and final GREEN. If any-one box is say 'Inspect" ORNAGE and the others are all GREEN, the unit number should go ORANGE; and so on. If we can get this working then we want to do a MASTER that matches in the same way that would just have unit numbers. There will be several hundred by the time we're done!

I open a spreadsheet or workbook that has links to other workbooks I am notified by the message bar that content has been blocked. I click Options > Enable this content > OK. Even if I don't make any changes I'm prompted to save changes when I close the file. If I hit Yes or if I hit No, I will still be prompted to enable content in the message bar the next time I open the same file.

I have changed the External Content settings in the Trust Center to "Enable all data connections (not recommended)" and "Enable automatic update for all workbook links (not recommended)" but I still get the messages.

My Message Bar is set to "Show the message bar in all applications when content is blocked" because I read on Microsoft KB that the other option of "never show information about blocked content" will still block the content, just not tell you about it, which doesn't fix my issue.

The files I'm opening and the files linked to and from them are all on the same shared drive on a file server in the office. Is there a way to tell Office '07 that our file drive is a trusted source by default?

MouseOver Cell That Makes Apear And Disappear An Image

I would like to do a routine in VBA on excel 2007 that makes the following:

1- When the mouse is over a cell it pops-up a window that shows a picture;
2- When the pointer is removed from the cell the window that contains the picture closes;
It is very important that the picture that is shown be adressed by a relative path from the folder in which is the excel file.

The pictures can change; this is the reason that the picture should be addressed by a path.

I have an Excel macro that pulls an external .txt file from a particular directory on a users computer. The directory is different for each user because of the way the computers are configured, see example below.

Bob's computer:
c:obwork

Jill's computer:
c:jillwork

There is a system variable called %username% on each computer that can be used for navigation in an OS enviroment. So if you were at the command prompt on user's computer and typed cd\%username%work you would be put in the desired directory. Is there a way to leverage this system level variable, %username%, in an Excel macro?

Pop-Up Message When Cell Value Changes And Not When Other Cells Change

I want to create a pop-up message for two of the cells that contain a formula. Cell A10 counts dates entered in column A for the current calendar year. E10 totals the hours and minutes in column E. I was able to create the following code:

I would like it to pop up when the total is => a certain value. I would not like it to pop up if data in other cells outside that column is entered (right now it seems to pop up once the condition is met everywhere on the sheet). If the user deletes rows and it makes the total < the certain value, I would not like it to pop up, but if the user adds more data again to make the total => the value, I would like it to pop up again. This is a dynamic, ever-changing sheet, but I am not sure how to make it work this way.

User of Excel in Office 2007. However, I for statistics about how my Bitcoin Device's works and decrypts Bitcoins per day for trends and statistics, and so on

Now while I was away so had the power gone, and for almost 24 hours so stood all still, I would now like to outline in red the date / dates where I have zero or very low running time for specific date, but I can only change Fragen for all dates, not individual dates.

The stack's not exist in the data value is equal to zero (null) where by I want to be able to get the date in red color, and possibly also in bold. see print screen below.

Find Username Match And Pull All Data At Same Row W/username

I have a thousand names on a column, and I have a several worksheet tabs as locations, such as CA, AZ, TX, and NY.

All names goes to main worksheet, show like this

apitchford 10 100 123
bkishpaugh 9 211 123
blee 14 234 111
cbonny 21 125 412

I need to pull a specific name, example, name = blee, move that name with all data on that row into TX.

I will need to set as automatically, becuase the names add and delete on the main worksheet, and will auto update those tab worksheets. (make sense?)

I have tried INDEX and MATCH, but they keep putting one data in, not all data.
