Excel 2007 :: Custom View - Some Settings Could Not Be Applied

I have a large spreadsheet from which I need to create separate Reports by hiding various rows and columns. I have followed instructions for creating a couple of Custom Views (View tab, Custom Views, Add, Inserted Name, OK, Saved the document) but nothing happens apart from getting the message "Some view settings could not be applied". In fact none of the view settings were applied.

Document is a revenue authority download and without being able to adjust the protected view settings, can't input data.

VBA in Excel 2007. Essentially, what I am trying to do is this:

I have to two columns (A and B) that have a drop down list in each cell containing text options. I created the drop down lists using simple data validation. Let's say that A has the following options (East, West, North, South) and B has (Up, Down, Left, Right). For each combination of these, e.g., A1 = East and B1 = Down, I want C1 to pull a unique piece of data (a $ amount) from a separate worksheet. I can get this to work in its most basic form but I want to be able to be able to do this for cells in rows 1 - 300 without having to write separate lines of code for each.

Additionally, I am having trouble getting C1 to update automatically once A1 or B1 are changed.

Excel 2007 :: (Save Files In Format) Settings Keeps Changing

I am having trouble getting Excel 2007 on my work computer to save as .xlsx by default.

I have opened the Office Button > Excel Options > Save > Save files in this format and selected "Excel Workbook (*.xlsx)," and if I save as before closing Excel then it works perfect and saves the file as .xlsx. However if I close Excel, re-open it later and save a new file the default "Save as type:" is "Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls)" and if I open the save options again the "Save files in this format" option is reverted back to "Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls)."

I have finally overcome the [Compatibility Mode] issue by saving a file named "Book.xltx" (not "Book1.xltx") in the two default locations "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice12XLSTART" and "D:Documents and SettingsusernameApplication DataMicrosoftExcelXLSTART" (we use the D: drive at work for personal files). I thought this would solve the save as issue but it hasn't. I have also changed the "Save files in this format" before saving the .xltx files in the locations to apply the settings to those specific files but that hasn't worked.

It is on my work computer so I am limited in what settings I can change because they have them pretty well locked down.

Protect Worksheets & Set View Settings

I have a battery sizing workbook, which has various tables and active cell VBA routines, that enable the user to input a number and then select a cell from the table presented on the front worksheet. This will then display the solution including other data. I have now been requested to share the workbook and all I seem to do is lock it up and therefore stop and calculations. Therefore your assistance is required in two area's:-

1. How to protect the workbook and allow the user to select a cell on the front worksheet, without all the all the VBA routines appearing to grind to a halt! I can lock an hide all the subsequent worksheets without freezing the front worksheet.
2. I can hide all the toolbars, row and column headings under my Tools/Options which will display the worksheet neatly...... Therefore can I some how instruct the users Excel to turn these off when loading?

Excel 2007 :: Change Extension To ZIP To View XML No Longer Works

In an effort to manipulate the xml documents within an xls, you used to be able to change the extension to .zip then open. This no longer works for me, just getting the 'cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive.

I have tried it with a number of different files, but no joy.

It still works with a .doc so I guess it's not that Microsoft have stopped this capability?

Can Custom Number Format Be Applied In A Macro

We have a macro that formats a report from our accounting program quite extensively (mostly moving text around). The last step is to select the entire worksheet and set the cell format to a custom setting #,##0.00_);(#,##0.00). We haven't been able to include this in the macro - we end up manually doing this step after the macro has completed. Is there any way to set this custom format as part of the macro?

I am using someone else's old spreadsheet.

This spreadsheet uses a custom format of ##-##-## for a date such as 012214 prints as 1-22-14.

I need to convert this into normal short date format such as 3/24/2014 because there are four columns of dates in the spreadsheet and we have to do some addition and subtraction from one column to another.

Using excel 2007 I've created a new tab and wanted to place the 2003 file menu on it. I don't know how to include it automatically in the tab using a combination of XML and VBA. So I created a button with the callback to run some code. Unfortunately, it still places the item in the Add-in tab. How can I get the undernoted code to operate within my new tab with either XLM or VBA?

Suppress Pivot Table Refresh When Changing Custom Name In Field Value Settings?

I often use the same file/pivot table for both month and weekly reporting. In my source data my field headers show 1,2,3,4..etc. This way I can use for month or weekly. But I often change the "Custom" name on the Field Value Settings to something more descriptive like "Jan" or "Week1"

The problem is that each time I update the the "Custom" name the Pivot Table auto refreshes and it takes forever to re-label all the columns.

Is there a way to suppress this refresh when updating the Custom Field Name?

We are using Windows7 with Excel 2007. We have old code from excel 2003 and earlier that was adding a msoControlPopup with other sub-controls using the code below:

I tried going to Excel Options>Customize>Reset to reset any customizations to the quick access toolbar as this was recommended by something else I found online. This did not fix the problem.

I can find the control in the Immediate window but it just isn't showing in the add-ins tab. if I can find and repair that XML file perhaps?

I am trying to set a custom view when exiting, but I keep getting runtime error 424 saying an object is required. I am attempting to unprotect the sheets, check the value of an option button, set the custom view based on that value, and then protect the sheets. Please keep in mind that the user may or may not be on the sheet containing the option button when exiting. Here is the code I am having trouble with.

I have a worksheet that has a number in cell K5 - the number is generated on "file open" code and is custom formatted as "TN"0000. Thus 1 appears as TN0001, 2 as TN0002 and so on. I am trying to save a copy of the workbook based on the this cells contents i.e. TN0001.xls, TN0002.xls etc. but the files are saved as 1.xls or 2.xls. The code I am using is

Show UserForm Before Printing For Custom View Choice

When I click the excel printing icon, I want a userform to pop up in which I make the choice for a certain customview that I build. This customview must then be printout. Note that I want to use the standard Excel print icon, not a custommade one in the worksheet. I figured out some code, but it doesn't work. I have a very wide sheet in which I have hidden and saved seven views.I am using it for a very long time but when i did some edit work in the 'full' view,the other views are not showing. To be more specific:

1. Import data from SQL: Refresh on opening, save password

When I place a text box in Excel 2010, the default is for everything to be locked (Box is locked AND text is locked). I want to change the default setting so that when I start Excel fresh, anytime I place a text box the "LOCK TEXT" box is UNCHECKED.

There's a place where you can select "Set as default text box") after you make the changes, but it's not sticking (even in the same document without closing. IE, I make the changes to a text box, then click the option that says "Set as default text box", place a NEW text box immediately in the same document but the text is still locked.

Excel 2010 :: Lock Out Trust Center Settings For Disabling All Macros?

There are some excel documents in a hidden folder that contain sensitive information. Shortcuts to these documents will be provided to users to open them and add data. These documents contain all kinds of macros as well. Once macro disables the 'Save As' feature so that the workbook can not be saved outside of the hidden folder, preventing to some degree a user from saving as a different name and emailing the document with the sensitive data.

This all works fine with Macros enabled. As soon as macros are disabled the 'Save As' prevention is bypassed and the workbook can be saved anywhere.

Is there a way for an administrator to lock out the Trust Center options for disabling all macros?

Custom Menus 2000 Vs 2007

We are currently on Office 2000, but our IT group are considering a company wide switch to 2007. I've played around with it just briefly, but noticed that it is night and day difference in both look and feel.

We use Hyperion Essbase, and have a custome built planning tool that utilizes Excel 2000, enhaced with a few thousand lines of VBA coding. One of the main purposes of the VBA code, is to control the Excel menus and replace with custom built menus that are specific to our Planning System.

Does anyone have any idea if VBA controlled custom menus from Excel 2000 will even work in 2007? Will I have to do complete rewrite?

One last question, If you are running 2007, is there a transition function (simlar) to prior versions, where you make the menus look like the legacy version?

Display Custom CommandBars In 2007

In XL 2003, the w/b displays correctly the custom CommandBar on the w/s and it works fine.
The name of the CommandBar appears (and is checked) in the drop-down list if I right-click on the toolbar (list showing Standard, Formatting, Borders, Chart, ...., Customize).

In XL 2007, the w/b opens fine, but I couldn't get the custom CommandBar to display !!
I used F8 to step into the macro that creates the CommandBar. No errors, but still no display!
