I have 4 comboboxes in a formcontrol (excel 2007, vba), each combobox has the name: Combobox_01 Combobox_02 Combobox_03 Combobox_04 I want to give all comboboxes the same array values "A","B","C","D","E","F" How do I do this efficiently?, I tried a For-NEXT loop, but I am not sure how to assign the For value from 1 to 4 to each combobox and it gives me an error...
View 9 RepliesSurely it's user error, but it honestly seems like Excel is not calculating 2 numbers correctly. At work, we have office 2010 where it is not calc'ing correctly; at home I have 2007 and it's fine, but anyway, here's my situation:
Cell A1: 0.003529
Cell B1: 0.48
If i put in Cell C1: "=B1/A1" i get a value of 136.000000 But that's not correct, it should be 136.01587... But if in Cell C1 i put "=0.48/.003529" then i get 136.01587...which is correct.
Why does using cell references in my formula give me the incorrect value?
I am using VLOOKUP with the not_exact_match set to True, however instead of finding the next largest value that is less than value, I want to find a way of returning the next largest value that is greater than value. I have looked at using MATCH and OFFSET to try and increment the returned value by 1.

Excel 2007 is my version. I'm trying to build an array from a dynamic range. I will know the column letter and lastrow.I think I could do this via a FOR and NEXT routine but there has to be a more efficient way. Here is my inefficient code idea:

I'm basically copying and pasting a bunch of columns. Currently, my code is very long because I'm not using a loop to plug in the column header. how I'd store all the column headers in an array (I think) and loop through 1-by-1.

I am concatenating some cells into an array. The amount fields should always have just 2 rounded digits following the decimal. What should change in the following VBA code to achieve that result?
Currently Cells(r, 6) & Cells(r, 7) could have these values:

I'm trying to find the largest number in a row and then have the column heading (text) as the result. I can find the largest number by using =max(numb1, numb2 ....) but then how do I get the heading of the column as the result. An example of what I want to happen is below

Orange
Yellow

I anticipate an issue where 2 columns have the same largest number and not sure how to over come this either with multiple answers
I am trying to develope a userform in EXCEL 2010 that has a couple of comboboxes that pulls data from a specific worksheet. The first combobox is initialized with data from column "A" of the worksheet, which I can get to work perfectly. But what I am having trouble with is the second combobox, the data that needs to populate combobox2 is dependent on combobox1 results which are the column headings ("B" thru "E"). What I want to do is search row 2 find the result from combobox1 and populate combobox2 with the data below that result. Below is my data that I am working from.

I have multiple sheets in excel file. Every sheet having same information for different areas. e.g. The bug was reported. One sheet might have answer in YES and other sheet might have No. I need to get answer YES if even one of sheet contains YES for the field.

I need a number in the userform to be either generated in the next empty row in column I or taken from the numbers in the next empty row I have loaded into column I. Password is snatch.

I am using countif formula to count number of times each name appears in a row, but when I use the filter opeion and select a specific name, and highlight the whole row, the 'count' at bottom right of excel screen does not show same count as the outcome of countif. why is this so?Shouldnt they both be the same?

I had an Excel 2003 spreadsheet which used =average(if... array formulas.
I'm trying to do the same thing in 2007 but it's not working....I know there is an averageif function in 2007 but some of the people who'll be using the spreadsheet are still on 2003 so I need a formula that works for both.
I am trying to create a purchase order that has blank item cells, but when you click on one a drop down list appears. By selecting the appropriate item, I would like the price to come up in the next cell for the item selected.
What would be even better is if once that was done there is a cell next to the item and price and this cell will be for the type of the item selected. In this case the flavour, flavours are specific to different item though?
I think the first bit can be done through a drop down list of some kind, not to sure about the flavours drop down menu though.
I often see array formulas written with "extra zeroes", like this: {=SUM(IF(let=1,IF(cost>5,cost,0),0)). Yet I was taught to write the same formula without the zeros, like this: {=SUM(IF(let=1,IF(cost>5,cost))).
My question are:
1) what do the zeroes mean or do?
2) what happens if I replace one or both of the zeros with a different value, like the number one?
I have collected some data from survey respondents, and I have the following array formula:

What I'd like to do is make the 3rd criterion -- $H$1:$H$400="american" -- dependent on whether the string value in cell A1 ("Evaluate Americans only?") is "yes" or "no".
Because, my actual situation is considerably more complex (see below), I'm looking to insert a test within the MIN array formula to check the value of A1, and calculate the answer accordingly.
I'm aware that I could theoretically create two array arguments (one with & one without the American test), and place them inside an IF function that tests the value of A1. However that isn't practical for my real-world situation...
I occasionally see array formulas with all sorts of symbols that I don't really understand in the array context (such as * and | and . ), and I'm wondering if one of those magic symbols might be the doorway to my solution.
I need to check each of 13,000 job titles to see if they include the string "VP".
For the time being, I want to find the most efficient way to check an individual title, before building an array or SUMPRODUCT function that will check all the titles in swoop.
So... I have tried:
=ISNUMBER(SEARCH(A1,B1))
..but it returns TRUE if A1 and B1 are both blank -- which they can be in my spreadsheet.
And I have tried:
=SIGN(SEARCH(A1,B1))
but it returns #N/A if A1 cannot be found within B1.
If I can, I want to avoid introducing an IF statement because, looking ahead, I am already concerned that this analysis will be complicated enough without multiple paths.
So.. what's the most efficient way to return a TRUE/FALSE, or 1/0, result depending on whether A1 is in B1?

I'm thinking of writing a small tool to store user information on certain files.
The user data will be input by means of comboboxes on a userform.
Each combobox will need to contain a list of values previously used for that combobox. (I'm planning to use a separate ini file for each combobox)
All of the user data entered for a file will be saved into a single ini file.
Most of this is straightforward however I'm not good with comboboxes. And working this in with Ini files makes it harder!
I'm struggling with the following concepts:
SOLVED - How do to make a combobox populate with all the values from its ini file
SOLVED - How to identify if a selected value in any combobox is new (i.e. wasn't in the original list presented to the user)
SOLVED - (From above) How to write this new value to that comboboxes ini file (so it will appear in future lists for that combobox)
How to input two values from any given combobox
(From above) How to record two values for one field into the files ini file.

On my userform there are 2 comboboxes. In combobox 1 I have Rowsource as Column A (Names), if I select John I want Combobox 2 to list 500 & 225.

I have 12 comboboxes on a worksheet. They are normally filled out by typing the first 3 characters of one of the entries in the list they are populated with.
I.e. the list starts;
AAC - Al Arish - Egypt - HEAR
AAN - Al Ain - United Arab Emirates - OMAN
AAW - Abottabad - Pakistan -
The first 3 character are unique to each line.
I'd like to be able to enter the 3 characters in the first combobox & then tab to the 2nd combobox, etc, etc. No problem in a userform but how on earth do I do that when the comboboxes are on the worksheet?
I have two comboboxes on a userform, they both get there list from the same formula. What I am trying to do is have the second combobox have it's selection preset based on the selection in combobox 1.

when you click on the dropdown for combobox2 i would like 6:00 AM to be the first selection possible, but I dont want it displayed in the box unless it is selected.

However, when I use this code on big worksheets with many other shape objects (such as Comments), the program runs very slowly. Is there a ComboBoxes Collection that I could use to avoid looping through all shapes on the worksheet, or is there a different, faster way to run this code?

I totally understand how to make the combobox under form controls now but I am not having any success with the indirect function I was using as a list now that I have a combo box. I have attached the current form I am working on that just shows the list function still. How to convert this over to combo boxes with the indirect function?
I attached a second form with the feature I am asking about. It is just lacking the third list that I now have in place. (on the 1st attachment).
