Excel 2007 :: Hyperlink Not Work With Cell Protected
Oct 24, 2012
Excel 07
I inserted a hyperlink into a cell that goes to a web page. It works when the sheet is NOT protected, as soon as I protect the sheet it stops working. How do can I lock the workbook and that cell so nobody can change it but the hyperlink still work?
Excel 2007 - need to adjust protected view settings but the protected view tab is missing from my Trust Centre settings - have the following tabs - trusted publisher / location, add-ins, activeX, macro, message bar, external content and privacy options. Document is a revenue authority download and without being able to adjust the protected view settings, can't input data.
I have a macro with "ActiveWorkbook.Protect Password:="password"" . It was working fine in excel 2003. In excel 2007, because of this I am not able to run any macro's in the workbook. I am getting a message "The macro may not be available in this workbook or all macros may be disabled. I can see a security warning in message bar saying macros have been disabled, but I dont have have a option to enable the macros.
I have column "A" a list of my PDF filenames and File path in Column "B". I want to establish hyperlinks for each of these PDF filenames (column A) and link it with the file path that I generated in Column B.
=HYPERLINK(B1,A1) did it very well, but unfortunately when converting to PDF, the hyperlink is not working, and I believe the conversion retained is only in text, so now my only resort is hardcoding it by VBA.
I want to put a hyperlink into an existing spreadsheet (which already has some hyperlinks in) but for some reason that option is now greyed out on my tool bar.
I am using excel 2007. My workbook contains a tab with several buttons with hyperlinks to corresponding other tabs in the workbook. The hyperlink works fine when the tabs are visible, but do not work when I hide the tabs.
Is there a way use hyperlinks on tabs that are hidden?
I am having difficulty writing code to insert a hyperlink from a command button on a userform. I have set up a worksheet to be a data base for a lot of new files which are being created on a daily basis. The userform when activated asks the user to input certain information about the new file being stored in the data base (ie file name, date created, relevant project, description, who created it, etc). I have put a command button on the userform which I would like to activate the "Insert Hyperlink" menu so the user can then navigate to the location of the file being stored and have that hyperlink stored in a cell against the file when the "Submit" button is clicked on the userform.
I have read almost every thread on inserting hyperlinks with vba but none seem related to my needs. Using Windows 7 and Excel 2007
with the following: The VBA macro I am using, is derived from the excellent "Table of Contents" macro written by Erik Van Geit, a few years ago.
I have a workbook (in Excel 2007, Windows XP) with an Index sheet and 200 other sheets (called ScreenShot1 to ScreenShot200). Each of these 200 sheets has had an image pasted in the top left corner.
At present, using the macro below, a hyperlink is placed in cell A1 on each of these 200 sheets (it's behind the image) that links to cell M1 on the Index sheet. What I would like this macro to do is make each image the hyperlink back to cell M1 on the Index sheet. Please note that the images are not named.
VBA code below,
Sub create_TOC() Dim i As Integer Dim msg As String Dim fc_order As Range Dim sht As Object '**** EDIT the following lines **** Const TOC = "Table of Contents" Const Index = "Index" Const CellLink = "A1" '**** END EDIT ****
I have created a macro that a couple of us can run at the end of the day that looks in a preset folder and has whatever .xlsx files in that append to each other creating one .txt file. It then saves that .txt file and runs a batch file that strips off the .txt file extension. This is the format we need the ending file to be in so we can FTP it to another agency.
Myself and another coworker can run it without any problem and it asks us if we want to save the .txt file before it closes it and runs the batch file stripping off the .txt extension. We say yes and it executes as designed. Another coworker runs it and it looks like the files are appending then the window closes. Never prompts him if he wants to save and the file is nowhere to be found. From what I have researched all his excel settings match ours. We are all running the same OS (XP) and version of MS Office (2007). The part of the macro that seems to just be ignored is below:
[Code] .......
Then the following batch file runs stripping the .txt file extension:
FOR /R "T:Cash ManagementUnsecured\_Team - DisbursAUTOMATIONInput" %%f IN (*.txt) DO REN "%%f" *.
I have tired removing the ActiveWorkbook.Save command thinking it would default to prompt him to save it but it doesn't.
I have written a 2007 workbook which contains 4 simple macros. One of the macros automates the process of saving the print range as a .pdf file. It works fine on my pc but when I send it to others to use, when they try the macros, they all return a 1004 runtime error.
I have a worksheet with several data validation dropdowns that each link to a series of hyperlinks. When you click the dropdown and select the hyperlink, it opens up that particular file. All of these work, except for one of the dropdowns. Even though I can see and select the names, the link is NOT activated.
Is there some obscure excel feature that I am not aware of that is preventing this one from working? Why would this be?
My company recently upgraded everyone to Microsoft 2010 from 2007 version. I have no substantial VBA skill and left with a VBA code which is supposed to extract a list of outlook emails sitting in a shared mailbox into Excel.
I was using that VBA code in Outlook 2007 and it worked fine but shows the following error when run in Outlook 2010: 'Run-time error '-2147221233 (8004010f)': The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found. Here is part of the code:
[Code] .....
It worked after one of the members suggested to "click on any line of this code and press F8 repeatedly until the yellow focus moves to the error line, don't press F8 anymore. Now in immediate window, copy paste each of below lines, press enter after each line. Let us know where the error occur." However, it stop working the next day.
I am using office 2007 and here is the problem I am facing. I am using a formula and it is based on two columns data. The formula result is at C20:C2400, while the two data columns are at A20:A2400 and B20:B2400. I add one more row of data at A2401 and B2401, I expect the formula result would auto extend to C2401 but it doesn't, nothing happen.
I check that I need to turn on the auto extend check box in option, I check and it is already on.
I recently upgraded from Excel 2003 to 2007, and the worksheet change procedure that i have embedded in my worksheet no longer fires when the criteria are met. If and if I fix it to work in 2007, will it still work in 2003?
Here is my procedure:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Dim rngCell As Excel.Range If Not Intersect(Target, Range("C19:R19")) Is Nothing Then For Each rngCell In Intersect(Target, Range("C19:R19")) If rngCell.Value = "BLACK" Then MsgBox "Please select a shading style", , "Shading Style Required" End If Next rngCell End If End Sub
I'm using Excel 2007. When I try to scroll with the mouse wheel, it doesn't do anything. If I hold down the control key and scroll with the mouse, it zooms in and out. So that works fine, but I can't do the basic scrolling up and down the document with the mouse wheel. There is no "Tools, Options" menu in 2007 so I don't even know where to find this type of option. The options available from the Office button are completely different.
I have a protected worksheet with about a dozen unprotected cells (so the user can just answer question from a validated list). Also unprotected is a hyperlink back to the main menu (Sheet1).
My problem is when a user clicks outside of where they should (i.e. on a protected cell) - it executes the hyperlink back to Sheet1.
I have tried unprotecting cells around the hyperlink. I even tried putting "dummy" hyperlinks around the main one referring it back to the same sheet.
I am using Outlining on a sheet called "Today".The sheet is manually protected but now the outlining does not work as it says sheet protected. Is there a code i can use so that i can still have the Outlining working in a protected sheet.
I cannot run a macro because I am encountering error 1004, intersect of object. i am using a protected workbook, and I dont have the password to unprotect it, but it needs to be fill out using a macro from a different workbook. Is there a way around this?
I have used a small macro to format the sheet to hide cells with no entries and then print. The problem is that when the sheet is protected, then macro wont work. The sheet needs to be protected by the end user. I am only really learning excel, I could add to the following so the sheet can remain protected?
I have a hyperlink to [url] that doesn't work. When I click it I get an error saying "Unable to locate the server or proxy server". But when I cut & paste the address from the hyperlink into my browser (no chance of mistyping), it works fine.
I have a workbook that links to other workbooks, in short people add data in the "other" workbook and the new workbook, we'll call "over see" automatically updates to show this data as it is add. The problem I have at the moment is there are hyperlinks in column H in the "other" workbooks that I need to also automatically transfer/update into the "over see" workbook. When I copy pasted or linked the workbook by having each cell equal the corresponding cell in the "other" workbook(s), the hyperlink lost the first half of its code. When I tried to creat a macro to fix this, code below, it only works for the first hyperlink, all links are different, but with my current macro, they all become the same.
Using excel 2003, Workbook has several sheets, all sheets are protected workbook is not. I have my cells containing formulas locked, I have unlocked the other cells that require input of various data. When the user goes to type in a "unlocked" cell, (to over write the now obsolete data) it will not allow the user to delete the data, the curser remains a cross and the formula bar or the cell itself will now allow any changes.
I have double checked that the cells are unlocked. I can enter data after the last entry in the unlocked row and or column, but I want to be able to "cut or delete the data that is no longer need and begin entering data from the beginning cell of choice. I want to copy this "old" data to an archive sheet, but it will now allow me to select it.
Example: I have 6 columns starting, (a to f) the formulas are in columns e and f and start at row 4 These columns are locked and hidden. Columns a,b,c and d are unlocked for user input. All data is started from A5 which I want it to start from each time the old data is deleted and new data entered. If I place my curser on any of the cells in the e and f rows, the cursor remains a cross which is what I expect it to do, but columns a to d are doing the same thing, they are acting as if they are locked OR atleast those cells in the a to d areas which have existing data, as I can enter below.
Some of my worksheets are permission protected. They will allow me only to view the sheets - No editing, copy, cut, sort, add filter, etc. Is there a way to hack this and copy data (including formating) into other / new worksheets?
Is it possible to do hyperlink to a specific cell in one of the tabs of another excel file? I managed to link to another excel but can't make it go to a particular cell.
I have a workbook that many moons ago I protected. Now I want the workbook to be an unprotected workbook so many users can view and update if necessary.
Typically I know you are supposed to go to: Review, Changes, Unprotect Workbook. But all that is available is to protect the workbook, but it is already protected. I know this because every time I open the workbook, I am prompted to enter a password.
Is there another way to remove this workbook protection I do not know about?
