I am using excel 2010. I have 3 separate form control each with its own macro. I would like to create a combo box with a drop down with a list of each form control case and be able to perform the same function as the individual form control when a specific name is chosen in the list of the combo box.

I have a validation drop down menu with the 12 months in it on Sheet 1. User picks the current month from the drop down list. I have 12 macros in the workbook, one for each month. Based on what month the user selects from the drop down, I would like to run a specific macro. The macro hides specific columns on sheet 2 of the workbook.
for example...user picks May from drop down which triggers macro MAY to run. If user picks Jun next month, macro JUN will run.
fyi...I'm using Excel 2010.

In 2010 I can save a file with data validation and it says it saves it OK but when I reopen it later It removes all data validation.
Is this a bug in 2010??? I had saved it under different formats same results.

I have a question on how I could populate data using a combo box selection in Excel 2010.
For example, I have a table with values in Sheet 1, & below that table there is a combo box whereby another table of values can be populated based on the selection of the combo box.
Maybe to make it clearer...
Table 1
Name | Address | Phone number
Andy | Avenue 2 | 999

Combo box (selection of names): John
Data derived from combo box - Table 2

I have four cells c1 thru c4. The SUM of these cells must equal 1. I want to display an error message "sum of cells not equal to 1.0" but only when data has been entered in all four cells.
For instance =SUM(C1:C4, "<>1") should display the error message. Is there a way to write the formula with an IF statement and still use data validation with error message box?
Assumptions:
-Will ignore blanks
-Error message "Sum of cells are not equal to 1.0" until values in all four cells have been entered, not after a value is entered in a cell. (validate expression after all four cells have values or blank)
Scenarios:
c1 = .25, c2 is blank, c3 = .25, c4 = .50 TRUE no error message should displays
c1 = .25, c2 = .25, c3 = .25, c4 = .50 TRUE no error message should displays
c1 = .25, c2 = .30, c3 = .25, c4 = .50 FALSE error message should display after value is entered in c4
etc
What I don't want is for the error message box to display after .25 is entered in c1 because the user is still in the process of adding values. Can this be done using Data Validation in Excel 2010?

I'm using Excel 2010, and I need to restrict the value the user can enter into a cell (E9).
In cell E3 is the screen width (pixels). eg 6024
In cell E5 is the preferred width of a window. eg 450
The user, in cell E9, enters an x coordinate for which they prefer the top left corner of the window whose width is specified in E5.
If the value that the user enters in E9, added to the width entered in E5, exceeds the value of E3, (if E9+E5 > E3) then the value should be disregarded (window will be off right of screen) and the user re-enter.
I'm not familiar with the use of data validation, so I'm uncertain as to how to use it in this circumstance.

Data validation in an Excel 2010 workbook.
I want the date input to be restricted a start date and an End date specified in two cells on the sheet. However, when I set up the Data Validation, ANY date will be accepted.
As an example cell Z1 contains the date 1/3/2014 and Cell Z2 contains the date 31/3/2014, so in the Data Validation box, the Start Date is referenced to Z1 and the End Date is referenced to cell Z2.
But I can enter 1/9/2020 and the Data Validation happily accepts that date.

Using Excel 2010, I set up a simple workbook with a spreadsheet on one page and the ranges for data validation on another. I successfully linked the fields in the "Category" and "Tender" columns with the data on the second sheet, making nice drop down menus. Everything works fine on my computer. However, when we open the workbook on a different station, the drop down menus disappear. If you highlight any of the "Category" or "Tender" fields, the little drop down prompt is missing; they behave like regular, un-formatted fields. It appears that the data validation became un-linked.
We tried opening versions with certain fields locked (Mainly the Total, Breakdown, and Summary areas, but the fields with data validation were still editable), and also completely unlocked documents. Every time, the drop down lists were lost when opened on different stations.

Forget to check a box or something? This seems way harder for me to figure out that it should be!

I am working on a project where I have a data validation list box in column A B and C on the same row. The selection in column A determines what can be selected in column B, and column b effects column c selection. The data from the list is located in another sheet and dynamic named ranges.
The data validation source is as follows:
Column A:

This works fine, however I need the drop down menus to be longer as there can sometimes be a lot of data to scroll through. To do this I have used the instructions at Excel Data Validation Combo box Click to make a combobox data validation.
It works fines for column A, however I can't get the list for column B to populate in the combo box.

I am using Excel 2007 and I've been working with a spreadsheet that utilizes several Data Validation to allow users to make different choices and depending on those choices the next options in line change. My problem is that I have so many different options, so long of formulas, that I run out of space to type in formulas in the DV source field. One way I get around this is to drop down to the next cell and start again, but I really need all the choices to stay in one row. Somebody suggested using VLookup, but I am not sure if that is the right path to take because a few of the final drop down choices have multiple options, and I'm not clear on how to use VLookup.
I am strongly considering using a Combobox Form Control or Combobox ActiveX control because, from what I have learned, they wouldn't be restricted by formula space. However, being fairly new to Excel I do not know what the codes would be to allow the comboboxes to change options based on previous selections. I've searched the message boards extensively and haven't been able to find an answer.

I have a VBA macro for Excel 2007 below that loops through a workbook and deletes a picture (shape) in a range at the top of each worksheet.
The macro works fine until a cell which contains a seemingly unrelated data validation list on Sheets(1) is changed. The macro then repeatedly trips up with a 'Run-time error 1004 - Application defined or object defined error'.
The cell with the data validation is outside of the range in which the shapes are deleted and does not set any of the variables in the macro.

I had a spreadsheet in 2007 with a drop down list of date. So that these showed as a date and not the numerical value I found and used the following.

However I've now had a upgrade to 2010 and I get a compile error: Can't find project or library and the word Format is highlighted.

Using Excel 2010. I have a ComboBox (Not ActiveX) on a worksheet
I'm trying to add an event so that when user click on a choice a macro is fired using the selected item as citeria for a filter When I click on the drop down and make a selection I receive this error msg:
Cannot find the macro "cboUserSelection_Change" The macro may not be available in this workbook or all macros may be disabled
I also tried _AfterUpdate - similar error message.
I added the Combo Box code to the Worksheet code, not a standard module
I was able to run a quick test macro so I do not believe "all macros are disabled"

I have made a modification from its file (sample is attached). First drop list can be autocomplete, but the second cannot. For the comparing, I made row 2 in ValidationSample sheet is my modification, and row 3 is the original.

I'm using a script that when you double click on a cell containing Data Validation > List it changes to a combo box that has an autocomplete/increased columns view...It's working great, however there are two small modifications I would love to do and am not having much success with. Currently, you double click the cell w/the Data Validation > List in it, it then changes to a combo box and you can auto complete using the keyboard or select the dropdown and choose from an increased list. However, I would like to be able to simply single click on the cell, have it change to the combo box and auto expand the list if possible.

I'm using Excel 2010 and XP. I have data in rows 1 -4 that can not be altered. There are headings in Row 5, B-L & Row 6, F-J.
Data starts in Row 7 and follows the headings. This repeats for several thousand rows. I need a way to move Row 6, F-J and put it on Row 5, M-Q
Row 6, F-J and put it on Row 5, M-Q
Row 8, F-J and put it on Row 7, M-Q
Row 10, F-J and put it on Row 9, M-Q
Row 12, F-J and put it on Row 11, M-Q
....
....

Then delete blank rows below Row 5

When a change is made in cell L11, cell N11 should be locked automatically for typing. This is true for the cells between L11:L25, and cells N11:N25.
I have been trying to come up with a code that will:
1 - start my macro when f.ex. L11 is > 0
2 - lock N11 when L11 is filled out
3 - unlock N11 when the input in L11 is deleted

I am using Excel 2010 and need a macro that can convert data from rows to columns. I have read several posts about this subject but have no experience with macros and don't know how to change the macros to fit my scenario.
Here is what I currently have:
Account...Vehicle1...Loc1...Vehicle2...Loc2...Vehicle3...Loc3...Vehicle4...Loc4

There are up to 4 vehicles/locations per account number, and I need 1 account number per row (the dots above are for spacing only and not part of the actual data).
I could do this manually but because I have so many rows of data it could take days or weeks. Is there a macro out there that can do this??

How the heck to work with comboboxes and listboxes.
In entering column widths, I want to do inches. I understand inches. I don't understand points.
The instructions say that it will take whatever is in the User Control Panel: Regional: Number settings. I checked. It is US system. Not points.
MSO 2010. Can I change it to inches or do I need to get used to points?

I have been using a macro to search and highlight customer addresses for me, however I have changed my worksheet and now have the addresses in two columns instead of one (D for the numbers, E for street names) for sorting purposes.
What I would like to do is either; find a way to search using data from 2 cells to get a result, or have multiple results highlight and popup.

I have created a UserForm that has a ComboBox and depending on the number selected I want it to show that number of Labels/TextBoxes...
So if I select "0" nothing is shown, if I select "1" one set of Labels/TextBoxes is shown, select "2" and two sets of Labels/TextBoxes are shown... but also if I have selected "2" and then select "1" I want the second set to be hidden again...
Also I know I should have renamed the Label/TexBoxes to make it easer but I was adding things and making it up as I went along...
I'm using Excel 2010 on windows 7.

Recorded macro. The hope is to insert a excel formatted table a set number of times. I have found a loop code that references a Cell A1 and repeats that amount of times. So if A1= 10. There should be 10 tables inserted. However on the second time there is a fault with the table name. I need the name to change each time the loop is run. ie Table1, Table2, Table3 etc up until the loop stops (A1 contents).
I am using excel for windows 2010. The macro that i have so far is below.

I am trying to use Excel to create some XML output that is formatted specifically for an application that I have. The application expects to receive time data for two columns in hh:mm format, i.e. no seconds. The standard Excel data validation and also the XML time data type all expect hh:mm:ss.
In order to get around this, I have used string as the data type and I want to use data validation to check the user input conforms to hh:mm. I can't see how to write the formula directly, nor how to apply the validation formula to an entire column (as opposed to named cells or ranges), and although I could write a function using regex, I still couldn't use this because all the examples I can find relate to checking a specific named cell.
