View 2 RepliesHow to add the macros in existing excel ribbons.
For example - I have a two macro codes. One is change the Date Format from DD.MM.YYYY to MM/DD/YYYY and another one is Date Format from MM/DD/YYYY to YYYYMMDD.
I want to execute the macro from the customize ribbon through Add in Buttons.
See the attachment : Customize the ribbon with Macro code.jpg
I have been attempting to enable the developer tab in Excel 2013, and have been unable to do so. When I check the box for the Developer tab, then click OK, the ribbon flickers, as if the tab is being added, but then the tab does not appear. When I go back to customize the ribbon, the check for the Developer tab is again not checked. I have also tried to move things around to different tabs and none of the changes stick.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have created an Excel spreadsheet in 2007. When a friend opens the workbook in Excel 2013, It does not let him add data to the cells. ( just one column which is the "date" column) The worksheet is not locked or protected.
When I right-click on the column and goto format cells, protection, the box is ticked, but the note says this doesn't take effect unless the sheet is protected witch it isnt.
I have a macro and I want a button on the toolbar, once clicked on the button, I want the macro to run.
Is there any way to do this. If this can be done using add-ins, I doesn't know how to create a button for the same.
I've created a custom toolbar via Excel's toolbar wizard, to which I have added several macro buttons. However, when clicked, instead of running the assigned macro, Excel instead attempts to open my already open file?? I think I read something about having to manually change the buttons to refer to a .xla ??? Not sure though.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have written a macro. The macro in question simply shows a user form. There is far more code within the user form itself. It is designed to automatically format a workbook.
I saved the macro as an .xlam add-in file to the default folder. I then added a button for the macro to my Quick Access Toolbar. This seemed to work great.
However, when I open a new file that I want to run the macro on, the button disappears. In fact, a 2nd Excel window opens up on my task bar. The original window still has the macro button, but the new window does not.
Is there a VBA code that will enable me to create a button and assign a certain macro to it everytime I insert a new worksheet?
how to insert a new worksheet with VBA, what I want is that when I insert that worksheet, there is already a button there with a specific macro(already made) assigned to it.
I have finally come up with a macro and would like to install it to around 10 people's "Personal Workbook" in my department. Let me explain a bit further...
We use web-based software which has an "Export to Excel" option which we all use. The resulting data populates into a spreadsheet automatically.
I would like the user to be able to click on Tools/Macro/Run Macro and then run that particular macro. I assume that this macro should be in the "Personal Workbook" so that the macro will be visible no matter what worksheet they may have open?
Can this be done automatically/with a macro or must this be manually done?
I"m using Excel 2003.
I have read several articles saying using a command button as a toggle button can't be done but some articles have said it is possible using the state properties.
.State = msobuttondown
.State = msobuttonup
Is there any way to combine this with the onaction property so that when you press the button, it stays down and activates a macro then when you press it again it pops back up and activates another macro.
I have a database in Excel 2013 and now I want that when a value (a person's name) is entered in a cell. That then the database sort of filters the list for me, so it's still possible to make changes in the entries.

I have been all morning working on a simplified version of the tutorial from YouTube: Create your own Excel Search Pt. 4. But came back later so only then that I can not change the data:?
I've got a spreadsheet that pulls data from a SQL server.
I'm looking to have a button on the first sheet that extracts the data from SQL and inserts it into sheet 2 of spreadsheet. The data connection from SqL is working fine but when I click on the button sheet 2 is blank.
I am using excel 2013. I have the table look like the above, in the diagram 1, i want to have the macro such that it can be formatted to the 2nd diagram. Can this be done using macro ? [URL]
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Excel 2003 and in my workbook I created a macro and assigned it to a toolbar comman button, "Copy Filtered Data". This macro copies the visible data into a new workbook.
This works well but others in my company will also be accessing this workbook from a sharepoint and I discovered that when they open it this command button is not on their toolbar.
Would anyone know what I need to do to have this button load on the toolbar when the workbook opens?
Also, I would like this button to either unload or greyout when the workbook that this button is intended for is closed.
I have created a toolbar button to save a file as a specific name based on a cell value. The macro runs fine, but the button changes priority when the new file is saved.
i.e. the original file is called "quoting_tool" and the newly created file is called "quoting_tool_'B3'". However, the next time I click this button in the original file, it requests the new file as the home of the toolbar button. I have tried saving the original file after adding the button, but that doesn't work.
I am completely new to Macro's and VB and the macro below has been generated using the "Record Macro" function in Excel 2013 with a couple of very minor modifications based on some research I have done (hyperlink & input box). My ultimate goal is to make a copy of my "TEMPLATE", which is hidden and the copy could have a variety of names, then create an entry in my "SUMMARY" table that references cells on the newly created sheet. The new entry on the SUMMARY page should be entered in the next available row ... at the moment I need to make sure I have my cursor in the right place before I run the macro. I also want the first cell in the new "SUMMARY" row to create a hyperlink to the newly created worksheet.
The macro does what I need it to do, as long as I name the new sheet "Test", what I would like is for the Macro to recognise the name of the new worksheet and create links to that name. The rows and columns in each new sheet will remain the same, hence the R##C## part will always work.
The "SUMMARY" and "TEMPLATE" worksheet names will not (ever) change.
A coworker just ran something by me that i'm quite frankly baffled by. After running a macro, the undo function becomes disabled up to the point of when the macro was ran. I've done a quick search through the forums and can't seem to find this question so i thought i'd ask.
Is there an option to toggle somewhere or 3rd party addon that keeps Undo enabled after running a macro? On a similar topic for my own curiosity, what's the reason that it disables?

I am trying to define a font colour within a macro When I record the macro, I choose a colour from the font colour-picker in the Home section of the ribbon. The colour I choose is one of the grey shades Everything seems to work ok, and the macro saves with the colour defined as a long number, e.g.
.Bold = False
.Italic = False
.ThemeColor = xlThemeColordark2
TintAndShade = -0.499984740745262
(Note this is the colour number returned by Excel when I chose a grey font) But when I run the macro, instead of a grey font I get a sort of pale apricot
Do I need to re-index something?
Is there a list anywhere of these long numbers and the colours that they represent?
When I hit the print button on the Standard Toolbar, I want my printer to print only the number of pages specified on my worksheet which I previously entered into Cell A1.
Is there a formula or something I can use for this?
I have two custom toolbar buttons. I want to disable one of them until the second will be pressed (sorry for my english).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI currently have this beast of a code running in Excel 2013:
HTML Code:
Sub OBTAIN_RAW_DATA_MACRO()
Dim NextCol As Long
'Copy data
Workbooks.Open Filename:= _
[Code] ........
However the issue lies in that once the data is refreshed, the slicers reading off the above raw data/pivots, automatically select all weeks, however this is not beneficial for the data being presented.
Is there anyway to have, once the Pivots have been updated, for the macro to then check and select current week range (beginning Monday) only?
Had 2003 now 2013. Trying to get the macro to select different printers for different doccuments. 2013 macro recorder does not record any printer info or path, all printers show the same wording just application print...
How can I get the recorder to acurrately record and diferentiate printers?
So there's a macro "RoundedRectangle4_click" that's assigned to a box on a worksheet. It's a simple macro, I assume. it just takes the user to the 'Main Sheet' tab. I know the name b/c I rightclicked on the box to get the Macro Assigned.
I click on Macros (F8), it's not listed there, but"RoundedRectangle5_click" is, so I click on it, edit it to match the one I'm searching. Nope, nothing. CREATE button is highlighted.
I've gone to VBA (AltF11) to try to find it among the 25+ worksheets, forms & modules - haven't found it yet.
I am trying to assign a macro to the Print button on the Standard Toolbar. Basically I want that button to print the number of pages I've specified in a cell, but I still want to be able to use the 'File/Print...' option if I need to.
I did try to solve this issue in an earlier post, but this exact problem remained unsolved. For more information

I have utilized the search button here, but alas haven't found exactly what I am looking for. I have run into a wall and cannot seem to scale it. I am running excel 2000 and need some assistance with creating a search macro. I have a simple spreadsheet created with 3 columns and 500 rows. Column A is name, B is a given # and C is employee status. What I need the macro to do is once a user enters the employee #, it highlights and takes the user to the corresponding name (Column A). I apologize for asking a "novice" question, but i have very little experience in this side of excel.

I am looking to create a form button in Excel 2010 that runs a .tto file. I have an add-in for Excel 2010 called "Transfer Data From Iseries" The .TTO file is a definition file of files, SQL, etc. What I need is a button on the screen (I do not want to try to explain to 1K users on how to add an add-in in Excel. When you click on the button it should open the transfer dialog box and then they put in a userid/password and it populates within that Excel file.
I tried to record a macro to get the script, but it does not record this information. I also tried to use Insert > Object in excel and it works, except that it does not open the data into that specific excel file (the one that you are in).
I am using the following code to create an Excel toolbar custom control Button. What would be the VBA code to change the color of the image I have chosen? ....
