Export Data From A Template File To Total List File Using Macro In Template File
Dec 18, 2012I have a template file for ordering trafolyte and steel plates. I have added macros to this template file. The existing macros do the following (shortly described):
Macro 1: clears order
Macro 2: update order date + send a read only file to the supplier of plates + save a read only copy of the file into one of three folders acc to info in one of the cells.
It's the Macro 2 I want to edit.
I want to add a "function" which copy a selection of data.column A to N from row 12 to 548 but only the rows where there is a value in column A.
Row 1 to 11 includes standard order info and Macro buttons.
Row 11 includes the heading for order data.
For everytime someone click on the Macro 2 button in the template file, I want the selection to be paste into the first "available" row in a "Total list" file.
The "Total list" file may have to be open (or a function to open, paste selection and then close the "Total list" file may be added)
File and Folder info:
To simplify suggestions, the following file and path info can be used (I can change to the correct later):
Template file name: template_order.xlsm
Template file location: \servershared emplate
Total list file name: total_list.xlsx
Total list file location: \servershared otal
Selection info:
The template file exists of a "general order info area" A1:N10
The column heading for order data is located at A11:N11
The selection to be copied is A12:N550 - But only rows where column A includes data (not empty).
(If the spesific order consists of 14 plates than there will be item no 1-14 in column A and I then I want to copy A12:N25 (row 25 will be item 14).
When I try to use record macro it looks like it only records what's happening in the template file - It doesn't record the pasting in the total list.

I need to write a script which will take an id in excel sheet , then look up the part number in word table , copy the part number into excel sheet. So the sheet will look like this:

at the end, I need to export the sheet as text file with tab as delimiter

Macro, Export To Text File, One Row At A Time

My problem is that I want the macro to create either (a) a seperate text file for each line (1 for line 2, one for line 3 etc etc) or even better (b) create a file for the specific line i am on. For example if i happended to click on D5 and then pressed the macro key it would onyl create a txt file for line 5, same if i clicked on E6, it would only create a file for line 6.
I would be grateful if you could highlight the code you insert into my macro as it may be useful for other reports i run.

Automate Export For A Range Of Cells To Text File
Oct 30, 2008I'm trying to automate the process of exporting a range of cells to a text file. I think the Print# command will work because I don't want the quotes at the end of each line. Each range of cells will be a separate text file, and I want to save and name the file according to the column it's in. This bit of code from dominicb seems to be what I'm looking for, in principle.

To a seperate worksheet for export to a txt file {for saving}
Then {when required} importing the txt file data into the worksheet ,copy the data back to the worksheet ranges and re-calculating the data. I have struggled to trying and butcher the code and delete the copy stage and write just the required ranges to the txtfile.(And reverse)

Sep 18, 2009I have an existing spreadsheet with a column of strings (actually VIN numbers). These numbers correllate to a bunch of text files, that can exist in one of three folders (UsernameDesktop1, 2, or 3) on my desktop. What I need the macro to do is:
1) get the filename from A2 (A1 is a heading row)
2) Find the appropriate text file in one of the three folders
3) Put the folder name into I2
4) Scan the text file for some strings, and copy some data that follows those strings into J2:O2 (I can handle programming this)
5) Close the text file
6) repeat above for the remainder of filenames (about 1800 files)

Insert Text To One File - Remove Text From Equivalent Column In Another File?
Aug 13, 2013Got a slight problem; I am making a "worker-plan", where you should be able to write a name on one file and have it updated (removed) from the equivalent columns on another file automatically. Here's an example with two separate projects:

You can see here how I intended it to work. When one worker is moved from Project 1 to Project 2, that worker should also be removed from those weeks in Project 1. The previous worker from Project 2 should also be removed from those weeks (in Project 2).
Are there any formulas that can make this work automatically? All week numbers will belong to the same columns in all files.
Edit: There are 30 files that should be syncronized, not just two.. I could also gather all files into one file with sheets, instead of having seperate files.
Lookup To Set Up Export File
Mar 21, 2009I have a spreadsheet that my field workers use to collect data.(See 'Capture Form'). On the main worksheet they use drop-down lists to enter the data. These lists are drawn from named ranges on other worksheets. In the column next to these ranges are the respective ID numbers.
I want to set up a worksheet ('Export') that mirrors the capture worksheet 'Capture Form' but only includes the ID numbers so that I can import into my Access db. I'm sure it's probably just a simple worksheet function but I don't know how to do this.

Nov 10, 2006I would like vba code that will export a given group of cells, or a defined print page area to a jpg file (preferable, but other image format would work). I'm planning to create a program that will change some cell data and create a jpg file for various sets of data.

In this file there are sites with each site there is a assciated set of data. What happens is the data that extracts data does not differntiate between sites and when it reaches to the end of worksheet it splits the data into next sheet. So I am trying to create a macro to check each spreadsheet starting with the last sheet in the work book for example last sheet in the workbook is seven it should go to sheet6 and if there is a blank row after row 64000 it should cut all the rows and move them to sheet7. Then it should goto sheet5 and do the same and keep on doing it until it reaches sheet1.

Nov 20, 2013In any other software, when I save a copy, or export to a different format the original file remains unaffected but in an excel it seems to work differently...and I end up having to save my file back to the xslx format. this extra time wasted when I am regularly exporting but it also makes me a bit nervous that I might accidentally not save back to the format with all my worksheets etc etc..

These files contain a code hook and a integer,boolean or string separated by a space and or tab. There are a set list of available code hook variables (around 250) but each text file only specifies relevant ones to be changed from default. I would like to have 2 Macros, one to import existing txt files and one to export. The goal is to be able to have a database to manage these individual txt files without editing them manually.

In excel I have a page intended to be a export template containing all the existing code hook types. I want to create another page using the importer with columns for every hook instance and rows for each txt file instance. Column 1 must be the txt file name and the rest of the columns populated only if the hook is present and with the value associated. Export would work by reading values off the database for each row into the template page if they exist for each column and create a text file using tab as delimiter.

Each export command creates a file with the correct name but no data (0kb in size) and a temporary file that is the correct file type (I have tried both jpg and gif).
I could try and copy the temporary file, but why does Excel not finish the job? I have tried to put a loop in and also added DoEvents after the export but no joy.

The problem is that all extensions are variable in a pattern such as .078, .051, etc.
In this instance, the extensions are numeric, but I'm trying to figure out a way to handle that is all encompassing to include *.txt, *.tsv, *.csv, *.prn, etc......
How can I handle these efficiently?

But I want that the file name (here: FactuurNummer7) can be a variable text issue, which has to be read - as already noticed - in cell B2 (with the word WINTER). Oct 2, 2006I've encountered a bit of an odd one. I am opening a tab delimited file, which has been sved as an xls. When I open from file manager, it opens correctly. When I open from Excel, I have to go through 3 screen dictating how the data is set up, and the end result is that a couple of the numbers come through as text, rather than numbers.
Failing an explanation - how do you open workbooks as file system objects - currently I am opening them using
Workbooks.Open Filename:=wb.Path & "/" & ws. Range("B1").Value
If I open them by mimicking the FM, perhaps it will work OK.

The column has only 5 rows that means each new text file should contain five lines of one column. It looks simple but couldn't manage to do macro for it. I have very big data set in one excel file, and have to be splitted into text files. The file name in new text files can be any kind as long as it can be in some sort of order for each export.
