View 5 RepliesI am using a worksheet to scan or enter students into a school event and determine their eligibility to participate in the event. Everything is working great but I need to do the following on Enter Student button click:
1) Cut scanned value (ID number) from input Cell A1
2) Paste value into next empty cell in column A (Rows build as students are inputted)
3) Copy Eligibility status (text) from column F into A6
I have a limited VBA/Macro background and have NEVER got a button to work.
Running into this issue of "transworksheet macros"
I have a master "update" commandbutton on sheet 1. I have two sub "update" buttons on sheet 2 and 3 respectively.
What I would like to do is have the user click the master button, that would "click" the two sub buttons so they run their respective macros on their respective worksheets (within the same worksheet.
I have tried pasting the macro code in the master button, telling it to select the sub worksheet and then run the macro, but the marco runs itself on the master worksheet instead.
I would like a macro that when run, finds empty cells in a column within the used range and fills them with the same formula in the other cells in the same column but relative to the row.
I have a basic understanding of VBA so if someone can set me on the right track i'll have a go myself as i appreciate this would take a while to write out from scratch.
I have a spreadsheet that has several formulas that update once all the values are inputted however I noticed that if I drag the formulas down the column, the cells does not update until I click the save button.

The problem i have is when i click on one of the option buttons it should change the cells ive highlighted to bold.
I am looking for code that fills empty cells found in columns A-F by copying and pasting the value from the cell of the previous row (of the same column) ignoring columns G onwards. The copying/ pasting then should stop when it encounters its first completely blank row.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there an easy way that if any cell in column A is blank it can copy the value from the closest non-blank cell above it? I eventually have to export data from a workbook into a database. But I cannot have any cells in column A as null or blank.
1. There are no blank rows, and at least 1 cell in each row has a value.
2. The person who constructed the sheet did not fill in all cells in column A for each row, they imply that if the cell is blank then it belongs to the same value as whatever the cell above it has. Ie, all similar rows are grouped together.
3. Of course, I only need column A filled in for rows that have data in at least 1 of their columns.
4. Simple worksheets with no formulas to worry about.
Additionally, if it is possible to get a macro so I can apply the code to all worksheets in my workbook at once, can I get that too? In the example below (where .... are blanks) I would like A2 to read 'Fruit' and A4 to read 'Meat'

I'm trying to write a sub function that when called will search left to right, top to bottom for the first empty cell in a 4x4 grid and insert a timestamp.
I've generated a large bulky bunch of code that seems to do the trick but I'm not terribly happy with it...

i want the user to be able to change the cell color on the click of a command button. the worksheet is protected. when the user click the command button the active cell changes to red and offsets by 1. then the work sheet is locked again.
The two problems I am having is 1. I want the range to begin from row 10, column k to column FD. all cells down

I have a situation where I am trying to copy to blank cells. All the data is in Column A. In Column A there are Account numbers that are attached to dates in Column B and Transaction Amounts in Columns C & D.
If there are multiple dates with transactions, then Column A does not repeat, but is blank until the next Account number. I am trying to have the Account number fill in the blank cells until the next Account number. I have a macro that runs and picks up the Account number and then copies the data in Columns B - D. However, the blank cells are messing up the macro.
I currently am using a form button to create new rows.
I need two different kind of buttons. I have a button that does this-

However, when I try and create these codes using a Command button (I need it for the color), I get the error
"unable to get the buttons property of the Worksheet class"
P.S one other thing, say the button is in row 3, and Cells A1 and A2 are merged, when you click the button in row 3, it should extend the merge to A3.
I need to be able to click on a box and have it fil that box with a check, X, or other fill and have that fill go away if I click on that box again. Can I do that?

In Excel 2007 (and 03) if you double clicked in the bottom right corner of a cell, Excel would autofill your formula (or data set) down until the last row of data in your range. Have tried all the settings in 2010 and can't get it to work. All I'm able to do is do a manual copy/paste or highlight all the cells and select fill down.

I want to create a msgbox that warns me when I click in a toolbar's button to call a macro that not runs in the activesheet. Something like: "This code (or macro) doesn't match (or run) with the active sheet.

Unfortunately, the data it pulls is usually old. I've found the only solution is to open a browser manually and to click the Reload button on the web page then navigate back to my workbook and run it again. Then it will pull the most up to date info.
I've tried several ways of forcing a refresh of the data, but have not figured it out yet.
I have been trying the past couple of hours to use the send keys button to tab down to the button on the page I need and to hit enter, thus forcing a refresh, but I can't seem to get that to work either.
On a spreadsheet I have a button which has a macro assigned to it, for some reason when I protect the worksheet then then click the button, nothing happens (or though I do get egg timer for a second). but when I unprotect the shet its fine.
ive used this type of method many tiems, and cant see what the problem is, have tried all combination of locking and unlocking cells in and around etc, but nothign changes it.
I have a spreadsheet with 6 buttons on it. Ive been using the code from Daves Download Page to log users of the spreadsheet, however im now want to log which button is being clicked the most. Is this possible? Ive tried to do it myself, by adding a hidden sheet, and adding code to each button to add a line to the new sheet each time the button was clicked etc, but faield miserably.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a userform [AddEditMove] with a bunch of textboxes (something like 30) that create entries in a spreadsheet ["Move Records"] along one row. In addition to creating those basic entries, the textboxes also fill in other spreadsheets after manipulating the entered data in various ways.
Therefore, if an entry needs to be changed, it needs to be changed from the userform rather than just on the main sheet, or those other actions won't be taken. At least, that's how I see it now. I'm interested in knowing how other people have handled similar set ups.
Right now, what I think I'd like is for the user to be able to double click any entry on the main sheet and have that action call up the userform and autofill the data from the sheet so the user can change what they need to change and then update it. It would also require a tweak in the userform code -- "if called from cell click, then fill info in selected row, rather than next empty line" -- if that's possible.
Is there any way, through VBA code, to click a button on a sheet in another workbook. This button has a macro assigned to it. What I need to be done is this :- the workbook which has the button is open. The code should click the button on a specific sheet. On this action, the macro assigned to the button should get called.
I could just call the macro which is assigned to the button in this code. But the requirement is that the button click operation should call the macro.

Each macro is assigned to its own button, Clear and Restore. What I'm trying to do is make it so that the macro attached to the Restore button will not activiate unless the Clear macro attached to the Clear button is clicked first and visa versa. I can't see to find anthing quite like it in my research.
I've been looking for a way to save a worksheet as a PDF document and place it in a folder in Documents.
