The current spreadsheets add up each persons totals by matching the name in each tab with the name of the person who won the job located in current orders tab.
BUT.....If two salesman pair up on up on a job then the formula doesn't recognise the joint name. eg Gary/paul in row 69 (current orders).
I need the totals to half the job and add it to the salesmans total accordingly. There is no 'Paul Tab' as he is our MD and doesnt have a target.
I'm looking for a way to split a cell with text into two cells. The first cell can only contain up to 40 characters, the rest needs to go in the second cell. However, I don't want the text to be split in the middle of a word. So basically, if the text is in cell A1, I need to find the closest space to the left of position 40 in A1, and move anything to the right of this position to B1. Example:
Original text: A1: One green apple and a bucket of small onions that smell nice
I want to avoid this: A1: One green apple and a bucket of small on B1: ions that smell nice
I want to achieve this: A1: One green apple and a bucket of small B1: onions that smell nice
I'm using Excel 2000 and I have a spreadsheet with 4 columns (A-D) and many (500+) rows.
Part 1: ######################################### Colums A & B both contain identical data - a first name and a last name in the format "John Doe".
I want the second word ("Doe") removed from all cells in Column A so that only the first name remains, and I want the first word ("John") to be removed from every cell in Column B so that only the last name remains.
So, where A1 & B1 both started with the data "John Doe" now A1 contains only "John" and B1 contains only "Doe". #########################################
Part 2: #################################################### Column C contains addresses in the format: "#5 - 123 Fake Street, Some City, CA 90210"
There is ALWAYS a comma and a space after the street address, then the name of the city or town followed by more data which may include one or more commas.
I would like everything BEFORE the first comma to remain in column C, and everything AFTER the first comma & space to be moved into Column D of the same row. The first comma and space are not needed again.
So, where C1 started with "#5 - 123 Fake Street, Some City, CA 90210", it now only contains "#5 - 123 Fake Street" and D1 now contains "Some City, CA 90210". ####################################################
I have a list of 900 names in excel and I need to find certain individuals by last name. I can get a list of each person I need to find...lets say 20 last names. These names are in the 900 but I would need to use the find feature and look one up at a time and this will take forever.
Let’s say sheet one has the 900 names and sheet two has the 20 names. Can I find the 20 names in sheet one quickly or do I have to use the find feature to search one person at a time on the first sheet with 900 names?
These are some data that I have ( inputs and outputs). I was wondering if there is anyway to find this equation. I can get more data if that helps in finding the equation.
I am trying to find the first and last names of people in a cell. I have a userform to get their first and last names separately. I am trying to run a VBA macro to determine if each cell in a column contains both first and last names, and then put a "Y" in an adjacent column. The Code I have is as follows:
I am looking to create a code that searchs a column to see if there is word similar to the input (As in it's the same part name with a missing or extra letter or a space), and then return the first matched word.
Reference the attached excel audit example. Column F highlighted in Yellow is finding the difference between "Authorized Post Allow" D9 "Post Allowance" B9 . The Column location of the two Columns changes on each audit. This means I have to manually fix the formula in Column F every time. Is there a formula that would find the difference between these two columns based on their names "Post Allowance" and "Authorized Post Allow" preventing me from manully fixing the formula.
I have a table with names of employees in Column A, the data for each employee is written in columns B, C and D.
I'd like to be able to type in this data in cells E12-E14 and have Excel bring up all of the names in the table that are associated with this data, and preferably separate them with commas.
I'm working with Excel 2007, without VBA/Marcros.
Please see the example file: find_name_example.xlsx
I have this macro below written. It isn't working for me and I am trying to figure out how to write it. Basically, the macro is supposed to go to the test.xls workbook and then look at names in row 4, from there it will take each name and search for it on the all csrs new.xls workbook and then move over to the right 5 times and copy data and paste 1 down from the name on the test.xls workbook. One workbook has the names going to the right and the other workbook has the names going down....
How can I write a piece of code to initialise an array with all the worksheet names. I cannot be sure how many worksheets will be in the file as it generates different numbers each time.
I used to just declare with sheet names, but I can no longer do that.
I need a macro that will look for a specific text string in the tab names of the workbook and replace it with a new specified text string (leaving the rest of the existing tab names). In other words, a simple find/replace but applied to all tab names in the workbook rather than cells. Ideally, I'd like it to pop up something and ask for the text to find and the text to replace it with, so I don't have to edit the macro itself each time I want to use it, but editing the macro each time is fine. Either way will be wonderful.
I have file that may contain about 100 or more rows depending on the request. In column A, i have several names that is seperated by comma in ever row so basically what i want to do is to remove each name and insert a new column and paste the removed name in the new column and keep doing that until only one name is left for each row. I would like the code to check every row until the last row of the file and perform the splitting method that i have mentioned above. Pls. note that some row may contain only one name in this case we don't need to copy and insert new column but if the row contains more that one name then i would like to split it as shown below. I have attached file for details. I really appreciate for your help.
Here is an example of the current issue Mike, David, John Eric, Dave Joe, Johnson, Edward, Ellen Thompson, Adrienne.........
I have and issue where I have name in one cell and need to separate them into 2 cells. Trouble is it is a combination of single names, husband and wife, and partners with different surnames. Sample of data is below:
Belinda Smith & Grant Jones Janine Ken & Marie Smith Louie & Betty Johnson Naomi Thomsoon & Craig Brown Narele & Barry Day Nicholas & Julie Smithson S M Bole & Co Jim Morris Danielle & JohnSimpson
Is it possible to copy specific names based on cell content?
For example: If I have a cell containing text and the names Bob, Mary, Bill,
I would like have a macro read the contents of the cell, find each name "Bob", "Mary", "Bill", then write their names in the first available cells to the right.
ie: If Cell A1 contains Bob, Mary, Bill write the names in the next available cells ( in any order)
Cell B1 = Bob Cell C1 = Mary Call D1 = Bill
It would be great if this can be done within a range..
If anywhere A1:A100 contains the names Bob, Mary, Bill, to write the names Bob, Mary, Bill ,in their next available cells.
Also, I have a few dozen names that i'll be incorporating in my worksheet which I'm hoping to expand on.
I am having trouble getting my IF statement to test if the cell contains the text "sale" return "X" if not "Y". I need it to search through the text string in that cell and find a certain word, and if it finds that word, retrn a value. I am really having difficulty with is what symbol or function do I use for the logical test? (i.e. =, <>, MATCH, INDEX?)
Attempting to hide columns (of cities) via VBA generates an error when that same city is reselected (either individually, or as part of the group) in the list box, upon clicking the 'Hide' button.
I'm trying to use this Find Method and combine it with a countif or loop. Something that will count a number of occurences of a unique type of character. I'm looking to find all "F" characters in Bold, Italic and Size 16. Here's my find code that I'm trying to use. I can get it to work by itself but not along with a countif or loop.
Sub count_4() Dim r As Range Set r = Range("A1:A6") With Application.FindFormat.Font .Bold = True .Italic = True .Size = 16 End With r.Find(What:="F", LookIn:=xlValues, LookAt:=xlWhole, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, _ SearchDirection:=xlNext, searchformat:=True, MatchCase:=True).Activate End Sub
i have spent 40 hours, and still didn't find a solution. Please help is need it!! example: i have to find all articles with same code (222). first one has Q =100 second one Q=250. soled Q=150 (i am talking about 5000 rows, 400 different or same articles per month- 12 months)
columnA-----columnB---columnC 222 ----------100---------0 111-----------50 333-----------70 222----------200---------200 333---------- and so on first i have to deduct from the first one it finds (max. till 0 ...it can not be negative) ....after finding another one it deducts the rest---it means 50 Is there any kind of formula with this possibility. if it is poorly writen please let me know for more info. i am not an expert in excell, but i have tried variations of sumif, vlookup functions, but i always get stuck deducting the whole Quantity from all of the same (222) articles .
Dim c, DataRow With Data Set c = . Range("A5:A350"). Find(KPI, LookIn:=xlValues) If Not c Is Nothing Then DataRow = c.Row End If End With
Now,If KPI is for example = "Favourite Hotel" and if i have data that looks like :
Favourite Hotel - London Favourite Hotel - Cardiff Favourite Hotel Favourite Hotel - Birmingham
Then it seems to not look be looking for an exact match (e.g. Favourite Hotel) and rather is finding the first item in the list that contains the KPI string (E.g. Favourite Hotel - London).
Is there a formula that will find the next matching text in a column and return the text from the column to the right of it? Like a vlookup but I need it to continue on and find every one of them and return each thing that matches that row that the next one shows up in.
I've been having some problems with an excel page whereby I need to know the underlying formula used but can't actually click or edit any of the cells other than 3.
The page is designed for you to enter three variables which are then used to calculate a transport rate, I need to know how they calculated the transport rate but I can't click on any of the cells other than the 3 that they let me (so can't see the formula used).
I have a column with customers ages in it. Now what I'd like to do is create a formula that checks all the age cells, then gives a percentage for each age group of my choosing. I tried some IF formulas but I just can't figure it out
