Find/Mid Formula
May 14, 2008
I need a formula created that will enable me to find a number within a text and then report the number in another cell.
Example texts are:
"unplanned absences (not work related) (8)" and "Working days (YTD) (53)"
I was thinking of doing a find/mid formula but I am unsure if this would be best and how to do it.
I would want it to find the number 8 or 53 in the text examples above

DSee the attached.
The current spreadsheets add up each persons totals by matching the name in each tab with the name of the person who won the job located in current orders tab.
BUT.....If two salesman pair up on up on a job then the formula doesn't recognise the joint name. eg Gary/paul in row 69 (current orders).
I need the totals to half the job and add it to the salesmans total accordingly. There is no 'Paul Tab' as he is our MD and doesnt have a target.

The first 7 digit number is the input to a certain equation. This equation outputs the 7 digit number after the space.
Input (7146127) ==> Equation ( Unknown) ==>Output (2871082)
These are some data that I have ( inputs and outputs). I was wondering if there is anyway to find this equation. I can get more data if that helps in finding the equation.

Is there a formula that will find the next matching text in a column and return the text from the column to the right of it? Like a vlookup but I need it to continue on and find every one of them and return each thing that matches that row that the next one shows up in.

I've been having some problems with an excel page whereby I need to know the underlying formula used but can't actually click or edit any of the cells other than 3.
The page is designed for you to enter three variables which are then used to calculate a transport rate, I need to know how they calculated the transport rate but I can't click on any of the cells other than the 3 that they let me (so can't see the formula used).

Bonus calculation model...
100% of sales target = 100% of bonus
110% of sales target = 125% of bonus
120% of sales target = 165% of bonus
etc...
How can I solve for someone who books 107% of sales target?

I am working on payment/cost estimator and am looking for some ideas and formula or macro help. Basically what I am trying to do is set up a calculator where you would input the payment you could afford and it will tell you how much you can spend on the equipment.
The problems I am running into are that when you factor in the interest rate and commission, the payments are round numbers so I need the formula to find the closest value.
Example- $250 payment. The payments in the table w/ the interest rates are $158, $248 and $350. I would need it to pick the corresponding equipment cost for the $248 payment.
Make sense?
If a macro would be easier I am fine with that, just have limited experience setting one up.

I need a formula that will check a few things and if it finds an error the word error will appear in the cell, the details of which are in the attached spreadsheet.
I have worked on this a great deal and cannot seem to make a formula with the proper logic. There is a sample of an error in the spreadsheet.

Something like this:

I really would like to alter about 1000 lines of formulas. Here's a sample of the code.
Code:
=IF(COUNTBLANK($AE$6:$AE$7),"",MIN(U7,AD289*$AE$37))
=IF(COUNTBLANK($AE$6:$AE$7),"",MIN(U8,AD290*$AE$37))
=IF(COUNTBLANK($AE$6:$AE$7),"",MIN(U9,AD291*$AE$37))
=IF(COUNTBLANK($AE$6:$AE$7),"",MIN(U10,AD292*$AE$37))
[Code] ....
*****The last line of code is below*****
=IF(COUNTBLANK($AE$6:$AE$7),"",MIN(U966,AD1248*$AE$37))
What I'm really trying to do is replace all the numbers (well, max of 3) after the U part to U6.
So,, for example ,, if in the code it shows MIN(U16,,,,,,,, I want it to show MIN(U6
So as an example
Code:
=IF(COUNTBLANK($AE$6:$AE$7),"",MIN(U966,AD1248*$AE$37))
WILL NOW BE
=IF(COUNTBLANK($AE$6:$AE$7),"",MIN(U6,AD1248*$AE$37))
So U6 is in all the formulas.
I've tried searching on google,, saw a video here on UTube;
Excel Magic Trick 519: SUBSTITUTE & REPLACE Functions
[URL] ........
Showed some great stuff,, but I just didn't quite get it for the above.

Column A Column B Column C
Material A
material B
Material V
Material F
Total Price 123456

Material G
Promo Price 123456
I would like to know if there is a formula can perform a lookup based upon the material in column A and then return the Total price in column C. For each material in column A there is a price but only 1 total price for each grouping.

Hello, i've been using the below formula to find the most consecutive "W" (Wins) without any "L" (Loses) in 2 rows, there are between the "W" blanks and and numbers
=MAX(FREQUENCY(IF($Y5:$DP5="W",COLUMN($Y5:$DP5)),IF($Y5:$DP5"",IF($Y5:$DP5"W",IF($Y5:$DP5"",IF($Y5:$DP5>0,COLUMN($Y5:$DP5)))))))
The problem is at the start or end of the count eg
A B C D
L WWW
W W L
The above returns 5 the result i am looking for is 3 as column B and C are the only ones without an L, there are alot more columns so obviously if there are larger sets of consecutive W then the result would be bigger,

In the attached sample sheet, Col B has data that will more often than not be duplicated. Each Line will have a corresponding value in Col L.
What I need to be able to do is this:
Starting from row 2 (important) is find duplicates and then place the corresponding figures for each from Col L as a Sum into Col N.
So '45678' appears twice in Col B and the Sum of the figures in Col L for '45678' is 1, so 1 will now show in Cell N2.
'55685' appears only once in Col B so it will have the "Sum" of 12 in Cell N3.
'99954' appears 3 times in Col B and has a sum of 9 from the Col L values so that will be displayed in Cell N4 and so on.

The simple table (attached) represents our problem.
We want the letter in Column-B that corresponds to the last non-zero entry in Column-A. So in the example provided, the answer will be cell B12 which is "L". Also, if there are blanks (rather than zeros) below the last non-zero entry, it still needs to work.

Attached is an excel file (test.xls) which shows work schedule (Week wise) of a person for two projects.
Now by looking at the sheet we can see the John is available from Work Week 8 (WW 8) onwards. The cells which have "1" in them indicate that John is busy.
Now I would like to achieve this (showing when John will be available) by using a formula in Cell B22. For example, if the formula can show somehow "WW8" in cell B22 it would suffice.

I have a column with 11 different numbering schemes that go from 736466.01 through 736466.11 In the group from 736466.01 through 736466.07 I need to have the adjacent column look to those cells and if it finds 736466.01-.07 return "CM" if it is 736466.08-.11 I need it to return "TC". I created the formula below but it doesn't like something I have done unless I change the format of the 736466.xx to text. Anything other than 736466.01-.11 should return a "null" or "void" Can you help me improve this formula, or show me a better way of creating it?
