Code To Find All The Worksheet Names And Initialise Them Into An Array
Jan 28, 2009
How can I write a piece of code to initialise an array with all the worksheet names. I cannot be sure how many worksheets will be in the file as it generates different numbers each time.
I used to just declare with sheet names, but I can no longer do that.
arrVals = Array("Subnets1", "Subnets2")

I am trying to add new worksheets at the end of the existing ones, with the name "Scenario " & i (i being an integer for the next scenario).
My idea is to parse the Worksheet names, counting how many times the string "Scenario " appears, and then add a new Worksheet with that name and index i+1. Here is the
Public Sub store_data_Click()
Dim NameWS, prev_sheet As String
Dim iprev, iws, iscenario As Integer
iscenario = 1
For iws = 1 To Worksheets.Count
If Find(Sheets(iws).Name, "Scenario ") = True Then
iscenario = iscenario + 1
End If
1.- Find (8th line) does not seem to be the right procedure to use; how could I do this in a clean/direct (i.e. not writing the names into a dummy worksheet and using the find function) way?
2.- How could I substitute the new Worksheet ("Scenario " & i) formulas for values without having to select all the cells and then use paste values (not so elegant).
3.- Connecting to a previous post: How could I define *exactly* the position to paste "Autoshape 1"?

Two part question:
1) I'm relatively new to arrays, but what I need to do is generate a list of file names and the sheets within each one. I would like to use an array for this, but since I don't have much experience.... well....that's why I'm here. Can someone point me in the right direction?
2) And the second part of this.... I was planning on using the FileSystemObject to determine the files in a selected folder and loop through that list of files, opening each one and harvesting the required info (file name and all sheet names). Should I use the FSO or is there something built into Excel that might be better (and also limit the number of dependencies for this little "project" of mine).

I have a userform with a lot of optionbuttons, checkboxes and textboxes, some of which an disabled when starting up the userform and become activated by clicking or unclicking others. The userform is shown by clicking a command button "Start" in the worksheet which runs a macro that contains a single line:
userform1.show
Finally have this very complicated code behind the userform working, but when i've finsihed with it and click Start again the userform appears with all the information still entered. Is there a way that I can reset all the userform objects and their properties & values back to their initial state without writing a long bit of code to reset them manually?

I'm trying to develop code that will perform the function in the title. I want to use an if statement that looks at cells across the worksheet and where it finds certain text it should colour the entire row. I would also like to be able to input the text via a user box. I am trying to populate many arrays with the same code using something like this. For this test, assume the following data in A1.

Code:
Sub populate()
Dim firstArr(5), secondArr(5), thirdArr(5), fourthArr(5), fifthArr(5) As Integer
Dim r, c, num As Integer
[Code]....
The above code does not work of course and falls over. I am unsure whether I should try and concatenate with something like this eg "" & arrName(i) = Cells (r,c) or go down a different route.

DSee the attached.
The current spreadsheets add up each persons totals by matching the name in each tab with the name of the person who won the job located in current orders tab.
BUT.....If two salesman pair up on up on a job then the formula doesn't recognise the joint name. eg Gary/paul in row 69 (current orders).
I need the totals to half the job and add it to the salesmans total accordingly. There is no 'Paul Tab' as he is our MD and doesnt have a target.

I am fairly new to macros and have trouble with VBA. I have a file with multiple worksheets. Each worksheet contains the name of a specific location in cell A8. I want this name in cell A8 to be the name on the worksheet tab for each worksheet in my file but do not know how to accomplish this. Is that even possible?

Suppose you have 3 variant Arrays, named sArrPos1, sArrPos2, and sArrPos3.
What is the syntax for using an integer variable to specify which of the three to work with?
E.g.
[Code] ......
I want to work with sArrPos1 first, then sArrPos2, then sArrPos3, but can't hard type them.

I need to create multiple arrays arr_1(), array_2(), array_3() etc. Each array will be used to store different data.
My idea was to create a for loop like the one below, which doesn't work.
Code:
For i=1 to 180
String = i
then initialize the array
Dim arr_& String ()
Redim arr_& String(1 to 183)
Next i

I have a complicated one here (at least for me)...
I have a very simple sample spreadsheet showing exactly how I'd like it to work but couldn't find out where to upload it? I can upload or send to you privately, if need be? May make it much easier to understand the desired end result.
I want to populate as follows:
Column A: "IN TIME"
Column B: "NAME"
Column C: "POSITION"
I have a date in cell D1 - today().
I need to search for that date in a column between range AA2 and BN2. When it finds the date (let's say it finds a MATCHing date in AA2), it will then search that entire column cells AA30:AA1920 and look for "server". When it finds "server" it will then grab the in time which will always be 4 cells directly above where it found the position ("server"), and then the name of the person, which will always be in column X, 6 cells above the position.
There will be multiple instances of "server", and I want to populate the columns A, B, C with all the servers it finds first for that day with their name, in time and position. then a blank row.
Then, I want it to find "Bar" positions using the same formula and method, and populate that right below the server data, then find "line", etc.
Ultimately, I'm trying to make a daily staffing plan, where all the people that are working on that date, it will show their in time, name, and position in columns, A, B, C as far down as necessary.
However, I'd like them auto grouped together by position, so I'd like the formula to somehow populate all the servers first, then all the bartenders, then hosts, then line, etc.

I am having a problem calling buttons. I have an array with button names and another array with their caption texts and I would like to call them one by one in a for loop:
For i = 1 To UBound(button_array)
Sheets("Statistic").Shades(button_array(i)).Caption = button_text(i)
Next i
But the only way I seem to be able to call them is by their set names, like:
Sheets("Statistic").statistic.Caption = button_text_ENG(i)

Is it possible to count the number of comboboxes on a userform? Or better yet can I fill an Array with all the combobox names on a userform? I can count the controls on a userform but I'm trying to count just the comboboxes? Instead of all the labels and textboxes and frames.
I would like to loop through them for validation instead of doing it by each one by itself!

I am trying to enter only the named ranges in the active worksheet into an Array.
The amount of named ranges can be from 4 to 7 per sheet.
I'm self taught at VB (This posts on this forum have taught me - thank you!) and have got the below code working on a Workbook - but not on a worksheet level.
ActiveSheet.Names.Count returns nothing, changing to ThisWorkBook.Names.Count returns the sum of all .Names in the workbook.
Sub aTest()
Dim sArray() As String
Dim sJoin As String
Dim y As Long
x = 1
y = ActiveSheet.Names.Count
z = ActiveSheet.Name

I am trying to do a sort of index match thing using VBA. What I am attempting to do is to use the prefix of a long number and try to find that exact prefix in a string array, and output that string array value. So this is what I have so far as a test:
[Code].....
So I can match the text exactly so if I put PREFIXB in cell A1 in this example, i will get the msg box saying "YES", but if I make it PREFIXB1231k4j3jj1kj32cj, it will display "NO". I want to get it so that PREFIXB will be displayed in the cell that I put the formula in. So if A1 = "PREFIX1AAA100CF" and cell B1 = "=ABC(A1)", cell B1 will display "PREFIX1AAA".
Now the thing is that these prefixes can have different lengths, but will never encompass the exact prefix of another. So if I had a prefix of: PRE1AB, I won't have a prefix of PRE1A.

I have a list of 900 names in excel and I need to find certain individuals by last name. I can get a list of each person I need to find...lets say 20 last names. These names are in the 900 but I would need to use the find feature and look one up at a time and this will take forever.
Let’s say sheet one has the 900 names and sheet two has the 20 names. Can I find the 20 names in sheet one quickly or do I have to use the find feature to search one person at a time on the first sheet with 900 names?

My Thread title should have read covert code TO run on all worksheets with same word in Name. I have had a look at some other pieces of code in this forum but they are quite the same as I want to do....I have tried a few things but each time I get an error ...so for sure I am not modifying the code quite right, I ahve been missing something for what I now want it to do. So I wonder if someone could Please review these two pieces of code...they of course are both for running on just one worksheet in a wookbook.
I would like them both be able to run, still as tow separete pieces of code as they are, on all and only worksheets that have in their worksheet name a key word in this case the word "Region" and that those worksheets all in a single workbook but the workbook does have other worksheets in it I dont want the code to run one on - but those worksheets do not have in their worksheet name the word "Region".
Sub test()
Dim r As Range, txt As String, ws1 As Worksheet, i As Long
Set ws1 = Sheets(1)
With CreateObject("Scripting.Dictionary")
.CompareMode = vbTextCompare
For i = 16 To 21
Again:
For Each r In ws1.Range(ws1.Cells(6, i), ws1.Cells(Rows.Count, i).End(xlUp))
If r.Value <> "" Then
If Not .exists(r.Value) Then
.Add r.Value, Nothing
Else
txt = txt & "," & r.Address(0, 0)
If Len(txt) > 245 Then
ws1.Range(Mid$(txt, 2)).EntireRow.Delete
txt = "": .RemoveAll: Goto Again
End If .............
