This works, UNLESS "My Column Header" is the last column, or second to last column, then it jumps left two columns, instead of landing on the correct column.
The purpose of this script is to select a cell directly in that column that I was searching for.

Aug 1, 2014I've got a spreadsheet with various amounts in cells A3:L5. I want to find the last non-blank entry in each row but only where the entry is in a column headed "Guaranteed PRB" (found in row 1). Then I want it to return the column header title found in row 2, which is a date.
I've attached a sample of the spreadsheet with the expected answer in column M.
I've got as far as formula:
=LOOKUP(2,1/(a3:l3<>""),$a$2:$l$2)
how to also make it look at row 1's headers too.

Nov 23, 2009I am having trouble with getting a value (which is the row and column value) from a set of numbers. I have attached an example table to try and make things clearer.
What I have is a table with a set of Row Headers, and Columns Headers all numeric. e.g Columns headed 1, 2, 3, 4, Rows 30, 40, 50 etc. I want to find the 1st occurrence of a value e.g. 1.0 in the table (by 1st Up mean closest to top left), and then give me the value of the Row and Column Header that corresponds to that.
So for the example attached, I want to get the row Value 200 and Column 6 from finding the 1st occurrence of the number 1. I have tried various combinations of index and Match etc. But I can't get my head around the fact that the position of the 1st no. 1.0 can change, therefore I can't use any releative positions etc.

Now, all I want is to add VBA code in the existing macro to find a column header (say, "Application date") and then convert all the dates into YYYY-MM-DD format. The original values in this column don't have a fixed date format.

May 13, 2013I have a spreadsheet with a number of columns from a database export, where values in the column are either "TRUE" or "FALSE," Depending on whether or not the box was checked in the database. I am wondering if there is a way to populate a new cell with the text from the column if the value is "TRUE."
For example:

FALSE
Is there a way that I could have another cell populated (I guess via function or macro) with "BOY," since the option for boy is true?

Want I want to happen is to return the column header where there for a cell which contains "TRUE" in a blank column. If there isn't a cell with the value "TRUE" then to return "N/A". In the above example in blank column P for Row 2 would be "Doors", Row 3 would be "Security,Vehicle" and Row 4 would be "N/A".
In my actual spreadsheet I have 12 columns (L to W) which have the TRUE or FALSE values.
I know it has something to do with either HLOOKUP, INDEX and MATCH but can't seem to get it right. Any ideas?

for each name row I would like to change teh fill colour of a cell to green to represent the week in which they started and to red for the week in which they finished. I therefore need to cross reference the start and finish dates for each name with the relevant week commencing dates at the top. Somehow! I presume there is some kind of vlookup type formula that I need to use in conditional formatting, but I am not sure what.

Nov 18, 2011I've been trying find an appropriate formula to extract the column header from a table in a different sheet if the row header and value in that table is known.
in the lookup table the row titles (column A) are product codes, column titles (row 2, D through AX) are business names and the table values are quantity.
In a different table I have product codes in column A and in column B i have the max number/quantity of products for that code. In column C i want to put the company name associated with the product and the number/quantity.

May 7, 2014 find macros to sort fixed ranges but not an entire column with existing header rows from 1 to 4.
Added to that is the need to keep the code compatible with Excel 2003 even though I have Excel 2010 at office (it's a file that needs to be "openable" in both versions so the vb code needs to be in XL 03.
Column currently starts at C5 but goes down to C47, at this point. But it's a growing list. Some of the rows are blank at the bottom, too.

I have a page ("Property Register" with some 22 rows of data. I apply the filter as per the code and I can now visually see a header and two data rows which is what I need to have.
the row number of the last visible entry (actually showing as the third on the filtered page) is row 7, again correct as row 7 of my original page has the last value I am trying to find.
However, both of the two "last_row" lines return me a value of 7 whereas I really need it to be three.
Seems to me that I must have the wrong approach (s) to finding the last row so that I can only process the visible rows (I don't need the actual row at all because my processing depends on a cell value in the row).

I am trying to find matches of a specific cell in various columns. Example:
Header 1 -------Header 2----------Header 3
-ABC123-----------abc123--------------abd123
-abd123-----------hjk321---------------hdn234
-Abc123-----------dsd123--------------sds332
If I searched for the value "abc123" I want it to return Headers 1 and 2 in a seperate column. It would not matter if the same value is in one column multiple times
So the results would show me the Column Heading for anything that reads: "abc123", "ABC123", "AbC123", "aBC123"
Is this possible?

Apr 20, 2013I am trying to calculate the average of the absolute values of a range of visible cells. I use filters to extract the data rows I need from a large spreadsheet. Then I need to calculate statistics on the resulting data, i.e. the visible cells. The line I am using to calculate this is:

However, what I get back is simply the value of the first visible cell in the range, i.e. the average of the absolute value of one number is that number. how to make this work
