I have a value that the user is suppose to type in the range(A3). The format is as follow: 20091227-I1 (yyyymd-Letter and No.) The letters are I and EK and after the letter a # from 1-10.
I want to create a macro, which reads the Range(A3). If the format is incorrect, then a MsgBox would display "Typing error. Please type the year, month, date, dash, letter (I or EK) and number."
I don't have a problem creating the message box. My problem is validating the Range(A3) with the specified format.
I am looking for VB code that will format a range of cells from a number format to a percentage format based on a reference cell. The reference cell is a drop down created from a list validation.
For example: If the reference cell (cell A1) =1 then cell range B2:C4 would be a number format. If A1 = 2 then cell range B2:C4 would be a percentage format.
I have searched for hours trying to find a relevant thread; I know they are out there, maybe I just wasn't typing in the correct search words.
I'll get straight to the point: How can I change this text format from 474556788 to 0-47455678-8 (dash added after 0 and before the last number). I need to apply this to around 5000 rows (can't do that manualy). I want it to be int his format:
474556788 to 047-455678-8
Tks Auto Merged Post;474556788 to 047-455678-8 (This is the wanted format)
Here is what i am trying to achieve. If the date 2/20/2010 is located at F53 & the cell next to it at H53 is populated with a number between 1 & 16, then i want the cell at J11 (42 rows further up) to auto populate with the number 1. When this occurs the cells beneath this, from J12 to J52 should also auto populate with the with consecutive numbers from 2 to 42. Would also like to see the cells with numbers 1 to 28, automatically format to orange & the cells containing numbers 29 to 42 automatically format to yellow. I plan to have this condition repeat several times later in the year, at dates that are to be decided. When these dates are decided i want to be able to enter a number from 1 to 16 & next to the date & all of the above automatically occurs.
I'm in the process of setting up an Excel document and I need to be able to have it display dates in a specific format. I need it to express just a month and year such that the month is represented by a letter (A thru L) and the year is expressed as its last two digits such as in the these examples:
May 2012 = E12 Mar 2009 = C09 Nov 2011 = K11 etc.
I want the date to come out in this format regardless of how the user enters it.
I work in the flooring industry and the format we use for cuts of carpet/vinyl is 40-3 (for 40.25 feet), etc. So we are trying to create an excel spreadsheet that will add up these cuts. Right now it's kind of a mess because we have decimals in a column we will be hiding and are converting that to our industry format.
The formula I am having trouble with is as follows: =MID(A18,1,FIND(".",A18)-1)&"-"&MID(A18,FIND(".",A18),3)*12
The problem is that whenever the totals end in zero, the formula won't convert 40.00 to 40-0. It gives me an error every time. If the total is 40.25 it will convert it to 40-3 just fine.
I am trying to write a macro that given a selected range of cells goes in each cell and bolds the first 2 lines within the cell. An example of this would be if the cell contained:.............
What I have done is create a macro in Excel and then opened up the VBA editor to make a lot of changes to the initial macro. I am reformatting a whole lot of separate spreadsheets over many workbooks.
Here is the code that is generating the error (Run-Time error '438', Object doesn't support this property or method):
Code: Range("E2").Select Selection.Format = "long date" With Selection .Font.Size = 11 ' .Format = LongDate .HorizontalAlignment = xlCenter .VerticalAlignment = xlCenter End With
As you can see, I first tried the ".Format = LongDate" and did put LongDate in "" which did not work, then I tried the "Selection.Format = ..." after the "Range" statement, and that did not work either. So you will actually know, I am trying to set the format for the cell "E2" to a Long Date format.
I'm looking to generate a chart out of a table of data. I want the Y-axis to show a percentage return on an investment.
On the x-axis I want to have a range of scenarios from a market average return of -40% to +40%. Obviously, I wish for 0% to sit in the middle of the x-axis.
I'd want to have 3 lines observable in the chart. I'd be looking to build the above out of a table almost exactly like this:
I’d like to return the range (or cells address) that includes text formatted in Bold and Arial font, this is always in Column “B”, so I’m actually behind the rows number....
I'm trying to convert a date in the following format: 19970121 to 1/21/1997 and am having trouble getting rid of the leading zero in the final version. I also need it to pick up the 2 digits in months that have them from 9 (Sept) through 12 (Dec), though, for use in a VLOOKUP function. Can this be done at all?
Here is the code I've been using so far that doesn't entirely work for what I need it to do:
I am trying to return a number with a specific format. I need Excel to look in a particular column and when it finds the entry in the correct format to return it in a new column. I want it to repeatedly return the number to the new column until it finds another number of the same format in the original column.
The below piece of code is from a macro that creates a summary sheet based upon the name of the worksheet. My problem is as follows: I have another macro which copies the summary sheet and renames it in the format dd-mm-yy and I want to exclude this from the macro that constructs the summary sheet. How do I modify line 4 to capture the exclusion of all sheets with format ##-##-##? Note: The current line is my poor attempt at doing it.
If (A$ = "Template") Then Goto 10 If (A$ = "Create New Sheet") Then Goto 10 If (A$ = "Summary") Then Goto 10 If (A$ = Like "00-00-00") Then Goto 10
I have employee numbers in two ranges of cells where the employee number will have alpha and numeric (ASAZ002000). The first is a range of “target” employees we need to look at.(A4:A20). The second range will be all employees of the company that the target list needs to check in for the specific target employee(s).(G4:G25). If a “target” employee is found within the range of all (G4:G25) – highlight cell red (G4:G25). I have attached a small file that might explain it better.
I'm trying to make a schedule for some of my employees (300 to be exact) and I was trying to work out a way of speeding things up a bit. I've made plenty of pretty complex equations for working with the task but the solution for what I would like to do now alludes me.
Here's the challenge: I have a sheet where I would like to insert employees within row 4 and then have their shifts shown visually in the column below that, and have the hours they work put into a merged cell (or something similar), like what can be seen in the blue cell under "Employee 1" (C6). What I would like to do is just have something like a VBA detect that a series of cells is merged (red cells) and insert the corresponding time, located within B5:B33, into that cell (with same format as the blue cell). Also, above the employee's name I could put a button to run something like a macro to run the program for the corresponding employee directly under that button.
Essentially I want to merge a series of cells, hit a button, and have excel locate and input the correct times within that merged cell.
I have a list of 10k cells with Peoples names in various formats (Title,First name, initials,Surname etc and variations).
I am trying to identify the cells that have within the string the following : 'space','UpperCase Char','LowerCase Char','space' (eg Prof " Dc " Jones).
I need to then change the lowercase char to uppercase.
I have a large spreadsheet which includes many rows whose number format needs to change depending on the value of a specific cell.
So for example:
If cell B20 has value "A", cells Q20:AG20 should display as 1,234 If cell B20 has value "B", cells Q20:AG20 should display as 5.6% If cell B20 has value "C", cells Q20:AG20 should display as 7.89 Etc...
As conditional formatting does not seem to include a number format option I've worked out that I need some sort of macro to change these settings for me, either automatically whenever the value of B20 changes or, more likely, when I manually choose to run the macro.
I'm trying to find vehicle make and model in a cell containing a lot of text and then display that in the formula cell. For example if A1 is a paragraph that contains somewhere within it "Ford" & "Ranger". I want B1 to display "Ford" and C1 to display "Ranger". I have a list of vehicles makes (column A) and models (column B) on a seperate sheet.
I was just recently forced to create my first UDF and after how well it worked I now am very interested in learning more. I am trying to create a function to sort a range by the values in a specific column and return the range. I know this should be really simple but for some reason my code dies whenever it gets to my inner-most loop. I need to use this in a larger function but for now this is my only question. I did find that Excel 2007 has built in Functions for this but my company still uses 2003.
My Public Function SortRange(rngToSort As Range, valCol As Integer) Dim Swapper As Variant Dim i As Integer, _ j As Integer, _ k As Integer
For i = 1 To rngToSort.Rows.Count For j = 1 To rngToSort.Rows.Count - i If rngToSort(j + 1, valCol) < rngToSort(j, valCol) Then For k = 1 To rngToSort.Columns.Count Swapper = rngToSort(j, k) rngToSort(j, k) = rngToSort(j + 1, k) rngToSort(j + 1, k) = Swapper Next k End If Next j Next i SortRange = rngToSort End Function
How to create a sheet to generate Random numbers from 2 specific list of a main list range of 36 Numbers. (List A = Specific 15 numbers, List B = The remaining Numbers from these 36)
Example :
-The Main List Range is from Number 01 to 36 -The Specific random list will be 15 Numbers of these 36
List A-. The Specific 15 Numbers are: 01,02,03,10,11,12,13,20,21,22,23,30,31,32,33 List B-. Remaining Numbers : 04,05,06,07,08,09,14,15,16,17,18,19,24,25,26,27,28,29,34,35,36
So
I need to generate ONE Unique Random Numbers of List A ( 01,02,03,10,11,12,13,20,21,22,23,30,31,32,33) In Cell A1 In Cell A2 In Cell A3
And from List B, (04,05,06,07,08,09,14,15,16,17,18,19,24,25,26,27,28,29,34,35,36)
I need to do the same thing In Cell A4 Cell A5 Cell A6
It's possible to have a 6 cells with random but Unique Digits? (not repeated numbers between the 6 cell ??)
I have a custom email creation template I am merging with another version. The problem I am having is wrapping my head around not only selecting a range that is offset from ActiveCell (column 6-9) but seeing if there is an "x" in that range which is normally blank. My previous attempts identify the "x" but adds the text every time it is found. (Each column is a flag for an email bullet and they can have all four bullets in the email where I only want the text included ONCE if they have ANY bullets included). I use the range because I do not want the text included if none of the bullets are used.
Teh StandHTML then gets used in the body of the email like other HTML items I use
The email is generated using the ActiveCell.Offset to insert special text, emails and routing and has weathered alot of changes over time.
Dim Myrange As Range Myrange = Range(ActiveCell.Offset(0, 6), ActiveCell.Offset(0, 9)).Select If Myrange = "x" Then StandHTML = StandHTML & "Important Text" End If
Need a code using application.inputbox to get a range, then use that range to copy and paste the range's link and format to a different sheet? The specifics don't matter, I just can't figure out the syntax. Here is what I have currently:
I need a code that will copy the format AND formulas of the entire row that I have selected (or activatedwith my cursor) to each and every blank row - until it gets to the last row of data on this spreadsheet.Since any employee could have more than 1 row of data - I am using a code that inserts1 blank row after each NEW employee name.
NOTE: This report is initially sorted by employee name so that each occurrence is grouped together.REPORT SPECIFICS:1) This report reflects typical paryoll information.2) Certain columns have data that is either in text, general, or number ($) format3) The number of columns may vary depending on which PR report is being worked4) For the sake of simplicity - we can assume that the column titles will always be across row 15) Each employee name on this report may repeat several times depending on how many weeks they worked,so the SUM() formula should adjust automatically to capture all the rows of data to add up for each employee
HERE IS MY CODE TO INSERT 1 ROW Sub InsertRowAtNewNameONE()Dim LR As Long, i As LongLR = Range("C" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).RowFor i = LR To 2 Step -1If Range("C" & i).Value Range("C" & i - 1).Value Then Rows(i).InsertNext iEnd Sub
NOTE: See below: I will format and add formulas where I need on the 1st blank row that was createdand I need a code that will copy this particular row to all blank rows to the last.
I have a string of information in an Excel download from PayPal that I need to upload into QB; but, the information needs to be in a different format. The string from the download is:
Property Address - 1116 South PaxonBorrower " Testa and Son Contractors,LLCLoan # - 1402088Acct Executive " Brandon Tully
But, I need it to be:
1402040;TPAPR;141 North Clinton Street, East Orange, NJ 07017;Leslie P Carter
Is there a formula that I can use to extract specific information from the original string into columns so I can then concatenate the columns into the information I need to upload? Or is there a better way to do this? The Property Address and Borrower Name are not static sizes so I can't use a formula that counts spaces.
