Formatting Cell Colors With Multiple Conditions

Oct 29, 2008

so what will happen is that the number of rows will continuously increase as the groups of data (Labeled Group #) increases. The data within each group will vary from time to time so some groups may contain only one line while others may contain multiple lines. I have included an attachment that illustrates what I'm trying to achieve. When data is entered in Column A under "Q," the adjacent empty cells in Columns B-F (labeled "R"-"V") will turn red. This is the part I have (i.e. Group 2).

Changing Colors In Specific Cell When Conditions Met In Another Cell

Apr 22, 2014

I need to change the color of a specific cell when conditions are met in a different cell and it seems like it may be beyond the scope of simply applying conditional formatting. What vba code would look like in proper syntax to make the following statement true. IF cell value Q4 is >=cell value S4 AND cell value R4 is <100 Then cell Q4 turns red and IF cell value Q4 is >= cell value S4 AND cell value R4 =100 then cell Q4 turns green. it may also be useful to know that the "cell values" in this example will be dates and not straight values. this may be possible to do using conditional formatting, but i cannot find a formula that works.

I have read the instructions for conditional formatting and I don't think that is what I need. I have 10 diff year 2005,06,07 etc. I want each cell with with a diff year to turn a diff color. Like I want 2005 to be red and 2008 to be blue.

Changing Cells Colors In Relation To Cell Input - NOT Conditional Formatting Ques

Mar 22, 2008

I'm a average excel user, i know my way around it and kow common and basic formulee, VB isnt a strong point, but i am willing to attemp anything for this, let me explain

Lets say in colum A I have a list of items, in colum B i have a check box, currently the check box is red, if i tpye a x it turns green due to conditional formating. That works fine...onto the problem...

Lets say in colum A i have my items but they are repeated...eg A1, A145, A166, A122 are all the same item, what i want is regardless of where i place the x each check box under coloum B either gets a X and turns green, or just turns green, i dont mind...

I dont think conditional formatting can cut this, though i may be wrong. Ive tried to use the IF function under condtional formatting but ran into problems...

Conditional Formatting With Multiple Conditions

Jun 10, 2009

I have a spreadsheet that contains a great deal of information, though most if it contains dates. There are some colums that contain the word "NEED" if i don't yet have the date to put in there, and the cell is yellow. What i want to do is set up conditional formatting to change the cell to pink if:

A)the cell contains the "Need"

and

B)The date in the corresponding row from column C is more than 15 days old.

Number Formatting With Multiple Conditions

Problem : Belgium has three types of phone numbers

##/###.##.## (if prefix is "02" or "03")
####/##.##.## (if prefix is "04##")
###/##.##.## (everything else)

depending on the prefix.

How can I put a conditional number formatting on a cell, so that it puts the input (eg. 025648595) in the correct format (in this case : 02/564.85.95, or something along these lines)?

VB Color Formatting More Than 4 Cell Conditions

Jun 25, 2009

The code below turns numbers and dates on my worksheets(1) to text priorities on my worksheets(3), I now need to color the cell backgrounds of the results on worksheets(3). With formulas I know I can conditional format up to 3 colors (or 4 utilising the background) but I am after 6. I also know that you will look at my code and laugh as I should have done the color coding with the initial commands, but I struggled with it for 2 days and simply couldn't get it to work.

In the VB below it all works off a command button and up to the third color it works however it then gets stuck and throws up a runtime error '1004' Application defined or object defined error. I did get around this before by recording macros and effectively sticking them together but it hasn't worked on this occasion...... any ideas??? (I hope I'm not breaking any rules by pasting the code directly in?)

Conditional Formatting - More Than 3 Conditions - Result Based On Another Cell

Aug 3, 2009

I have established that to have more than 3 conditions in my version of Excel (2003) i have to use VBA. Unfortunately I have very little knowledge of this process. I have attached an example of the worksheet I am working on. The worksheet in question totals hours worked for payroll. problem:

Required result: Cell to change to 1 of 8 background colours in response to selection of 1 of 8 options in drop down list in the cell directly next it.

i.e. (in reference to attachment - sheet DATA)
IF E6 = Holiday, then D6 = Red
IF E6 = Half Day Holiday, then D6 = Red
IF E6 = Sick, then D6 = Blue
IF E6 = Sick Half Day, then D6 = Blue
IF E6 = Bank Holiday, then D6 = Green
IF E6 = Compassionate Leave, then D6 = Pink
IF E6 = Unpaid Leave then, D6 = Yellow
IF E6 = Unpaid Leave Half Day then, D6 = Yellow

However, the same basic table as shown in sheet DATA appears several times on the worksheet. And in each instance the conditional formatting is the same (in reference to the relative cells).

Get Conditional Formatting To Change The Cell Color Based On A Few Conditions?

Jul 19, 2013

I'm trying to get conditional formatting to change the cell color based on a few conditions.

I want the cells in column D to turn red if;

- The number in column B has a match in column A

- And the corresponding cell in column C is not blank

- And the corresponding cell in column D is blank

In the example below, cell D4 should be red

If there's a match (Column B to Column A) and;

- If cell in column C is not blank and cell in column D is not blank, do nothing.

If there's a match (Column B to Column A) and:

- If cell in column C is blank and cell in column D is blank, do nothing.

Here's the formula I attempted but didn't get it to work.

IF(AND(C2"",D2=""),MATCH(B2,$A$2:$A$15,0),IF((AND(C2"",D"")),"",""))

Conditional Formatting :: Change Colors As Per Dates

Oct 23, 2009

I’m sure conditional formatting is the way forward with this but can’t quite get the formula right. I need 2 columns: Column A will have dates that an event happened on. Column B will be blank until we have received back in a letter that went out on the date in column A. At which point the date the letter was received back in will be entered into column B

What I need is for the Colour of Column B to change from green (before and on the date of Column A) to Amber (for the next 3 days) and then red (from Day 5 onwards. This would be until a date was entered in column B (the date the letter is received back in) at which point it would just go back to white. This would keep a check on how long the letter was out for and whether we need to chase it up or not and with an increasing urgency.

Excel 2010 :: Counting Cells With Interior Colors Set Via Conditional Formatting

How to sort out a way to count cells whose fill colors have been set via conditional formatting.

I'm sure that I was once able to use Chip Pearson's CountOfCF function back in the days of Excel 2003, as it worked around the 3 condition limit and used .ColorIndex which assumed that you'd only ever be formatting using the .ColorIndex values of 1 to 56, but I can't seem to be able to get it to work in 2010.

Excel Pallet Lost Colors (hovering Displays Colors But Visual Clues Are Not Shown)

Jul 7, 2013

My pallet lost color-coding - if I hover over each little scare it displays the names for the colors and if I click on them they color the cells with the right colors, but the palette itself lost the visual display of colors except for 8 colors: black, blue, red, magenta, yellow, cyan, and white.

I use color-coding of cells a lot and I find it difficult to work without visual clues. At least the hover-support allows me to get the work done, but with difficulty.

VBA To Set Cell Value Based On Multiple Conditions

Jan 4, 2013

I am creating a document log that tracks all excel files sent and received.

I use RDBmerge to get the filenames and data from the file batches.

My current macro edits the data down to the last stage of data needed to create the log.

My example workbook shows the final stage of the RDBMerge Data "Rough_Data" and then the final data formatted needed for the Log "Final_Data"

Included on the "Rough_Data" worksheet is the Code log used to complete the "Final_Data" worksheet.

I have highlight the cell range on the "Final_Data" Sheet that I need to complete.

filenames can occur multiple times from the RDBmerge, so only one occurance of the filename is place in column B of the "Final_Data" worksheet.

The criteria is this:

A column on the "Final_Data" worksheet as been Named for Each of the possible "Record Types" from Column G of the "Rough_Data" Worksheet. ("A,B,C,D,E,I,O,P,Q,T,V,W,X,Y")

I then must look through the "Rough_Data" worksheet for the first occurrence (if any) of that record type for each filename on the "Final_Data worksheet. If an occurrence is found I then must look at the "Unique ID" & "Program" Columns of the "Rough_Data" Worksheet. The key (on the "Rough_Data" worksheet) is used to determine the code that is written to the corresponding cell.

i.e.
"Final_Data"Date
FileName
Field2
User
Direction
Method

[Code] .....

I would very much like to automate this process, as sometimes I am dealing with over a hundred files with 30 plus rows of data each.

Cell Value Based On Multiple Conditions

Feb 23, 2010

I need to create a macro that will calculate a value based on the contents of multiple cells. Looking at the example attached, if columns A and/or B (employee ID and name) are empty, then allowable OT (G) should be 0. If either have data, then if Stage (F) is CAN, G should be 20. If Stage is FAS or FAR, G should be 10.

I'm not very savvy with IF statements, which is how I imagine this can be done, and I don't know if this would be easier to do as a macro or as a formula within G. Since the contents of the of the cells will be changing on a weekly basis, I'd prefer the formula to only be there if there is content on the line, so we don't have nulls showing.

Programming Multiple Conditions In Cell

Jul 6, 2009

Attached is my worksheet. I need to program column C to adjust the value in column A according to the rules set in table J2:K17, but ONLY if the value in column B = mens. If the value in B does not equal mens, then leave the C cell blank. I've manually populated column C to show the end result that I'm looking for.

I tried a simple =IF(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("Small",A2)),"S",""), etc., but I can't figure out how to incorporate the additional condition that would let the cell return a value ONLY when a condition in B is also met.

NBVC helped me with a similar request previously, but with that formula, if the condition wasn't met, the cell returned "#N/A" instead of being blank.

If A1 contains baby, AND B1 contains Billy, then C1=billy.jpg

Change Cell Background Color Based On Multiple Conditions

Aug 6, 2008

My Excel skills are basic at best, with no knowledge of VBA other than finding the VB Editor. What I'm trying to do: Attached is the file I'm working with, to give you a better idea. When a name is selected in column B, the cells in the non corresponding columns E to N should have a black background color. For example, when you select Mike in column B, the cells in that row in columns I to N, named Dave and Dean, should become black. If you select the name Dave, columns E to H (Mike) and M to N (Dean) should become black. In addition, the background color of the non-black cells should change depending on the status.

OK : green
FAIL: red
N/A: orange
Exceptions: blue

The attached file shows a few possible results, manually entered.
