I’m sure conditional formatting is the way forward with this but can’t quite get the formula right. I need 2 columns: Column A will have dates that an event happened on. Column B will be blank until we have received back in a letter that went out on the date in column A. At which point the date the letter was received back in will be entered into column B
What I need is for the Colour of Column B to change from green (before and on the date of Column A) to Amber (for the next 3 days) and then red (from Day 5 onwards. This would be until a date was entered in column B (the date the letter is received back in) at which point it would just go back to white. This would keep a check on how long the letter was out for and whether we need to chase it up or not and with an increasing urgency.

I'm a average excel user, i know my way around it and kow common and basic formulee, VB isnt a strong point, but i am willing to attemp anything for this, let me explain
Lets say in colum A I have a list of items, in colum B i have a check box, currently the check box is red, if i tpye a x it turns green due to conditional formating. That works fine...onto the problem...
Lets say in colum A i have my items but they are repeated...eg A1, A145, A166, A122 are all the same item, what i want is regardless of where i place the x each check box under coloum B either gets a X and turns green, or just turns green, i dont mind...
I dont think conditional formatting can cut this, though i may be wrong. Ive tried to use the IF function under condtional formatting but ran into problems...

In conditional format I've this formula
=countif($Q$2:$V$2,B2)>0
which will return any matching numbers in yellow.
My question is can I insert that once that row reaches 10 matching numbers the row turns green.

How to sort out a way to count cells whose fill colors have been set via conditional formatting.
I'm sure that I was once able to use Chip Pearson's CountOfCF function back in the days of Excel 2003, as it worked around the 3 condition limit and used .ColorIndex which assumed that you'd only ever be formatting using the .ColorIndex values of 1 to 56, but I can't seem to be able to get it to work in 2010.

I have a spreadsheet of stock data open, high, low, close etc., that streams in real time from thompson reuters. i am trying to conditionally format the G column which is the "(HIGH)" price of the day to alert me when the value of that cell changes price. Basically during the first 15 min of trading my software filters down the top performing stocks of the day. During that time i drag and drop the information in the excel program that is linked to the stock quotes program which might give me up to 30 or 40 stocks. The conditional formatting is to alert me after the 15 min mark if the "(HIGH)" value in that column has changed price to a new high. I can control the stream of the data with a button that turns off the data stream so that it only goes live after 15 min.

I want to change the colour in a cell depending on the sum of two other cells.
ie
A3=1,B3=1
A4=2,B4=1
A5=1,B5=0
A6=2,B6=4
So i want if
A3+B3>2 THEN C3 TO HAVE GREEN COLOUR
A4+B4>2 THEN C4 TO HAVE GREEN COLOUR
A5+B5>2 THEN C5 TO HAVE GREEN COLOUR
A6+B6>2 THEN C6 TO HAVE GREEN COLOUR
SO IN THE END ONLY C4 AND C6 WILL HAVE GREEN COLOUR.
Is there any formula to do so with conditional formatting?

I would like to be able to put a value into a cell. By doing this I would like another cell next to it to turn a color. With that said, is it also possible to format a cell with several possible scenarios in one formula to be able to change the cell next to it a color?? Example is this lets say Cell B1 could have the letters, A B C D or E entered. So that the Cell A1 turns say the color Red.

I am trying to setup a monthly calendar.
What I want to do is have it so that if you type "apples I want some", the cell changes colour to green, and also the apples doesnt appear in the cell. So when you press enter, all you will see is a green cell that says "I want some"
I was wondering if there was a way in VB within the worksheet to make this happen?

Cell B157 is changed by checkbox 1= TRUE, 0 = FALSE
Cell H1 and Cell H2 are percentages changed by the user.
Range(AI8:AQ8,AI12:AQ12,AI16:AQ16,AI20:AQ20, etc) each cell in the range contains a formula, and is protected from the user.
I need the contents of each cell in the range to change font color (independent of each other) when the formula of any of the cells within the range changes - to the following
If B157 = 1
Cells < H1 (a percentage changed by user), would turn Red
Cells > H1 but < H2 (a percentage changed by user) would turn Yellow
Cells > H2 would be Green
If B157 = 0
Cells < H1 (a percentage changed by user), would turn Green
Cells > H1 but < H2 (a percentage changed by user) would turn Yellow
Cells > H2 would be Red
I need it to fire whenever the value of one of the cells in the range changes.
I have tried If statements, Select Case, and a combination of both but just can't get it!

I have two columns. In column B is the date of "last check". I column A is the date of "next check". I would like to have cell A2 in yellow color 334 days after the date entered in cell A3 and than in red color 365 days after the date entered in cell A3. Same thing for cell B2 related to date entered in cell B3. Yellow color in cells announces that check will expire within 30 days and red color that check has been expired.

I am trying to set up conditional formatting in cell C4 to change the font to a smaller number based on the value of C4. If C4 = 0 then Font Calibri 16, otherwise Font Calibri 24. However, the font size is not availabe, it is greyed out. Is there another way to accomplish this without using VBA? In the worksheet could I use an if() statement to change the font size?

I'm trying to get conditional formatting to change the cell color based on a few conditions.
I want the cells in column D to turn red if;
- The number in column B has a match in column A
- And the corresponding cell in column C is not blank
- And the corresponding cell in column D is blank
In the example below, cell D4 should be red
If there's a match (Column B to Column A) and;
- If cell in column C is not blank and cell in column D is not blank, do nothing.
If there's a match (Column B to Column A) and:
- If cell in column C is blank and cell in column D is blank, do nothing.
Here's the formula I attempted but didn't get it to work.
IF(AND(C2"",D2=""),MATCH(B2,$A$2:$A$15,0),IF((AND(C2"",D"")),"",""))

Excel 2003
On one of our computers at work, Excel is acting especially strange. The conditional formatting in Excel on one of our computers is not working. In addition, we cannot fill a cell with any color or change the color of the writing. We can click a color for the letters and type it in, but immediately after another cell is highlighted, the writing goes black again. When we try to highlight multiple cells with the cursor, the cells are black instead of the normal color. This happens to not just spreadsheets that are new, but existing spreadsheets on our shared drive from only this one computer as well. No other computers are affected this way. All other computers show the spreadsheets fine and do not have any functionality issues.

Via conditional formatting, I am searching to change the color of a specific word in a cell (not the color of everything in the cell, but only that specific word - and the word repeats in the cell). A function such as =isnumber(search("NOK";A1)) colors all the cell values, which I do not want to do. How i can perform this task?

Cell1 = Name
Cell2 = 1
Cell3 = 2
Cell4 = 3
If cells 2, 3, and 4 all match I want the background in cell 1 to change to green.
I've tried (Formula Is =B1=C1=D1 green) with no luck.

I'm trying to update a workbook with a new look and want to change the cell color based upon what the cell color currently is.
I'm having problems with the code that I created. I just can't seem to get the syntax correct for the code.
For the code below, my Range of A5:D5 is just a test range where each cell should change colors. When completed, my range will be much greater.
Code:
Sub ChangeColors()
Dim Cell As Range
For Each Cell In Range("A5:D5")
[Code]....

so what will happen is that the number of rows will continuously increase as the groups of data (Labeled Group #) increases. The data within each group will vary from time to time so some groups may contain only one line while others may contain multiple lines. I have included an attachment that illustrates what I'm trying to achieve. When data is entered in Column A under "Q," the adjacent empty cells in Columns B-F (labeled "R"-"V") will turn red. This is the part I have (i.e. Group 2).

I know this can be done, as I have seen it before, but can't seem to figure out how to replicate it.
I have a speadsheet in which I have a drop-down box for a certain column's values. How do I automatically have each independent row's background color change dependant upon the value selected in that row's drop-down cell box (and update color automatically if a different drop-down selection is made later)?
For example:
Row 1: Cell C Drop-Down Value = "Yes"...change row color to GREEN
Row 2: Cell C Drop-Down Value = "No"...change row color to RED
Row 3: Cell C Drop-Down Value = "Maybe"...change row color to YELLOW
