1. I use this formula to count a number of items in a column per month: =SUMPRODUCT(--(MONTH(B6:B500)=8))
I also have another column C where I put some descriptors against the values in column B. I need a formula to calculate a number of items in Column B, except for those items, which are equal to XYZ in column C.
2. I also calculate a number of items, which were completed in a given month. Completion is marked with "Y" in a separate column (D). I use this formula: =SUMPRODUCT((YEAR(B6:B999)=2013)*(MONTH(B6:B999)=12)*(K6:K999<>"Y")). I can't make it count a number of completed items in January. C

I want to paste a list of customers into a sheet and then have a formula that counts the number of customers. So, even if a customer appears 10 times it would only count it once and and continues down the column and counts the next company name and so on. Then it gives me a total of the number of different companies in that column.

I need a formula which can count the number of items which have been applied to a suspense account in between a set of dates so for example i may need all items placed into a suspense account in the month of october. i record all items in a list so i do have a list of dates i just need to know how to count them and keep a running total as i need to feed it into another spreadsheet. I am trying to count the number of unique items in a single column (~5,000 rows of data). For example, I may have the following data
a1 = apples
a2 = pears
a3 = oranges
a4 = apples
a5 = apples
a6 = apples
a7 = pears
in this case number of uniques items is 3
Right now I am using a Pivot Table to figure out the number of unique items but I am sure there is an easier way to do this.

If i select 3 items from a list 20 items to be show on the cube this is fine and works however if i then add another item to the list i now have 21 items and for some reason it also adds itself to my 3 selected items to become 4 items. Is there anyway I can get it to be added to the 20 items and not to the 3 items..

I know how to use array formulae to create a unique list, i.e.{=INDEX($G$1:$G$760,SMALL(IF(ROW($G$1:$G$760)=MATCH($G$1:$G$760,$G$1:$G$760,0),ROW($G$1:$G$760)),ROW()))}
however this is giving all the unique items from column G and I only want the unique items that have a non-zero value in column H as well. This would be the sumif of all instances that would have to be zero. I've tried to crack it and I've tried to search for solutions but so far no joy.

Im using the following formula to update our prices in our stock list.
=VLOOKUP(C1,'Most Recent Prices 2009'!A:G,6,0)
Column C = Unique part number.
Problem:
I have a tab of 100 or so prices that I don't want to be updated. How can I exclude these pieces of equipment when I drag down the above formula. Assume that these pieces of equipment are in a tab called 'keep' and their unique part numbers are in Column A.

I've got two long columns of dates and names. The dates and names can repeat. Eg:

I want to input a date and create a list of names with only the names from the date I enter and earlier, and excluding names that appear again with a later date.
E.g. if I enter 01/01/14 I'd get:
Joe
Tom
But not Fred, as although he appears on 01/01/14 he also appears with a later date too.

I am attempting to count how many cells have different values in a table while not counting the N/A's and 0's found in the table. From what I'm finding online, I see lots of formulas set up with frequency functions, but none of them are set up to exclude anything - just find unique values. I need to count the cells with values other than 0 and N/A going across each row and not count the same value twice
Here's an example of what the table looks like (the real one is over 1,000 rows and 50 columns) with column C being where the formula needs to go. I put what I would like to have returned in the cells.

In cells v43:v52 I have data which will change often the data is always either a 1,-1 or a 0, I need a way to count from the bottom up and ignore anything that is not part of the chain. It can also contain 0 in rows that are not populated yet but the 0s will always be on the bottom and never in the middle or top.
I.E. in 3 weeks it could be

I would want the formula to spit out 3 because it was 1 3 times in a row..
Now say in week 5 it is

We have one excel file for monitoring of action items generated by the management after the study. As since there were around 3000+ rows has been generated since in the beginning of 1990's till to-date. So I was thinking of instead of getting the result through filter manually, I want to create a formula that will count of how many has been closed this year and this month out of the total numbers of action items.
Is it possible to use the COUNTIF function formula to count the number of items in column A, and date of column B, and closed in column C.
In below, we can see that there were 4 items under Revalidation has been closed this month and the total number of closed this year is 6.

I'm looking for the easiest way to count the number of occurrences within a cell range.
The formula that I'm currently using is:
=COUNTIF(D$5:D$8,"a*")
This counts the number of cells that start with 'a' and returns the sum. It seems to work fine, but when I try to make it look for more values in the range it gives me an error. For example;
When I want to find multiple values in the range and count them all, I use this formula:
=COUNTIF(D$5:D$8,OR("a*","b*","c*"))

I have a spreadsheet that I use to log incidents. In column "A" I have the date in month/day/year format (8/14/2014). I am attempting to automate the graphing process so I have a graph that will tell me how many incidents I had in the month of August. I have attempted the following formulas (and other similar formates with minor changes)...
=COUNTIF('CY14'!A2:A500,"8,2014") and changed around the date format
=COUNTIF('CY14'!A2:A500,"&DATE(8,2014))
=COUNTIF('CY14'!A2:A500,"August")
All of these come up with "0" while I have 17 listed incidents for August. Am I doing something wrong, or is this not possible.

In column A, it contains the monthly salary data of each employee, then in column B, it contains the classification level data, Like Grade A, Grade B and Grade C. In this exercise, it want to find out the statistic as follows:
1. How many employee's monthly salary is below 10K and their classification level is Grade A, B or C
2. How many employee's monthly salary is above 10K and their classification level is Grade A, B or C
So any formulars can do that in instead of using the sorting method?

I want to count unique items in a list with an array formula, like the items is in 3 columns A,B,C are from row 2 to 101. Now i use an array to filter out some rows in the columns of B,C & then count unique items in Column A.
so,
column A has "30 diffrent names repeated from A2 to A101"
column B has numbers 0 to 100
column c has value either 0 or 1
now i use an formula TO filter out rows in column B & c
formula =count(IF((B2:B101>0)*(C2:C101<>1),1))) using ctrl+shift+enter
now what should i suffix or prefix to this formula to count unique values in column A.

I need to identify the number of occasions on which a product type is bought by a customer in isolation from other product types. I have attached a sample to illustrate. The actual data is more complex and is actually medical data concerning issue of oral or IV drugs. There are many thousands of records.
To clarify, in the example, there was only one occasion when Bread was bought on its own by a particular customer on a particular day. The way the data is presented, 'Bread' could be listed before 'Milk' or, as with 'Steve' on the 2/4, it could be in the middle of a series of 'Milk' purchases. I can sort by date/name/type, but I cant work out a formula to resolve the count.

I need to be able to count items if they match a condition in another column, as below

How can I count how many Red Apples there are. The answer should be 4 but when I use countifs I can either count the no of apples in Col. A or the no of colour Red in Col. B.
I have tried every combination of if, vlookup, and count that I can but keep getting errors or single col. counting.

I am trying to set up a sick leave list which will work out the cumulative total for the last 12 months (from last day of last sick entry). The problem I have, as the is is added to, I need a function/formula to work out 12 months from last date and then add up the no. of sick days from then to the last date. Hope this is clear. The next problem is I need it to work out total days and then without weekends. Below is the chart I have to work out.
Column 1 Start date of sickness
column 2 End date
Column 3 the number of days sick in period (column 2 less column 1 in days)
column 4 the number of days sick in period above excluding week ends (column
2 less column 1, less weekends in days)
column 5 total sick days in last 12 months from date in column 2 going back
a year including weekends
column 6 total sick days in last 12 months from date in column 2 going back
a year excluding weekends
What function or formulas can I use to calculate column 3,4,5 & 6. I am a not very experienecd in Excel

I have a worksheet where I capture the date and time of each new entry in column A.
In the next column, it's counting up the number of hours since that entry was made. However, it's including Saturdays and Sundays in this count and I was wondering if there's a formula to calculate the number of hours excluding Saturdays and Sundays? I know that network days would count the number of working days from one date to the next, but really need hours. Is this possible?

Is there a way to exclude outliers when doing a calculation? For example, I am calculating the degradation in sales for a given period. During that period a store may have had an extraordinary sales day that is skewing my slope up/down.

excel formulas and currently have a very large excel sheet with over 1400 rows of stats from hockey games. For reference will call it Sheet A. I have the stats broken down by month from each season, and under each month I have 6 rows of "Totals" for that month which I would like to exclude. For example monthly totals for games at home(row 12) monthly stats away(row 13) etc. columns include stats such as Goals scored, goals allowed etc.
I want to pull highest and lowest numbers (excluding the totals rows) from each column in sheet A in to sheet B which would be a franchise records sheet. I'm looking for a formula to make this happen. I have tried the MIN and MAX formulas but am unsure of how to exclude those abve mentioned totals rows of sheets.

I have formula for working days which excludes holidays :

Code works but I have monthly worksheet and macro for adding days in month. This formula's end date is in AI2 cell, which corresponds to 31th day of the month. Problem is that I get #REF error across all sheet when I delete last day columns, in month which have less than 31 days.
I know that this is the cell reference error because cell AI2 is deleted, but is there any solution for changing networkdays formula or replace It with something else that will work same, with range maybe ?
For now I just hide columns, which is o.k., but I would rather delete columns...
