Formula For Largest Percentage Related To Reference Number

May 15, 2014

I have data one sheet which is

Date Ref No Type %complete
Monday 1 Erect 75
Monday 2 Erect 50
Tuesday 1 Erect 95
Wednesday 1 Erect 100

On the next tab I am consolidating all the reference numbers and want to capture the latest % complete

I have been trying =Max(if ref no=1 and type = Erect, % complete),1

But when I try it for reference number 2, it just says 100% aswell, when that should be 50%.

Index Matching: Formula To Give "name" Associated With The Largest Number In A List

Nov 10, 2009

INDEX($D$19:$D$22,MATCH((LARGE($E$19:$E$22,1)),$E$19:$E$22,0))

I use this formula to give me a "name" associated with the largest number in a list. But I can't get it to work when I use it on a win/loss number such as
"7-1". It won't read it.

How To Translate Number Into Specific Letter Related To Number

Feb 3, 2014

How to translate a specific number into a specific letter related to the number itself.

I have lots of different numbers for example all going down a specific cell (These numbers I want to separate into 3 different catagories. The positive numbers I want to be calculated as the same Letter that is next to that row directly over to the left of that cell.

So if the letter

B / cell / cell / +9 / Then I want if its a positive number like +9 to answer in the formula with the same letter (B) listed to the right in the same row in a different cell of course

B / cell / cell / -6 / Then I want if its any negative number like -6 to answer in the formula as the opposite Letter of (P) listed to the right in the same row in a different cell of course

P / cell / cell / +17 / Then I want if its a positive number like +17 to answer in the formula as the same letter (P) listed to the right in the same row in a different cell of course

P / cell / cell / -3 / Then I want if its a negative number like -3 to answer in the formula as the opposite Letter of (B) listed to the right in the same row in a different cell of course

and thirdly if its a (0) zero and only (zero's) Then I want the answer to stay (0) zero.

The number can be any numbers it doesn't matter. Only distinction is that positive number of +1 and up repeat and stay the same letter that the cell on the far left is already stated.

and all the negative number of -1 amd below all reverse the letter to the opposite letter of (B to a P) or (P to a B) listed to the right in the same row in a different cell of course

and of course (0) zero would be listed as a positive number and only return a (0) zero as the result of the formula.

Formula To Calculate Percentage Based On Number And Text In Cells

May 14, 2014

I have a form in work which acts as a tick sheet for tasks complete on a construction site. When a task is complete I copy & paste from a key of dates i.e. week ending 11.05.15, this allows me to see what week a task was complete.

Generally I only marked off tasks which were 100% complete but my manager wants me to enter the % of the task complete also, i.e. 80% in the box.

So my question is how can I have the formula assume that any box with a date & shading is 100% and any cell with a number i.e. 80 is only 80% complete. I need it to monitor around 150 cells and give me the overall % complete based on what i have discussed.

VBA To Read Text Formula And Related Constants And Insert As Formula Into Cell

Jul 30, 2014

I have a situation where I have to curve fit data, this can lead to different formulas being used with varying constants.

Is it possible to pickup a TEXT based formula and related constants from other cells, and then place this into another cell as a functioning formula. For Example

Cell A1 contains the formula as a text string whether it be y=a+bx+cx^2, or y=a+b/x, etc
Cells A2:A6 contain the individual constants, a, b, c, etc

I would then want the VBA to read the text based formula and put it into an output cell as a functioning excel formulae.g

In cell B10: =a+b*A10+c*A10^2

I understand picking the constants up and putting the formula should not be too much of an issue, however trying to insert the variable form of the curve fit is the part that I am struggling with, and am unsure if possible.

The database is for a Prison, and an obvious item to search for on a userform is Prison number. I have a serach option that generates an array listing in a listbox, selecting that item then populates the userform - no problem.

The problem occurs when an individual has more than once instance that has been recorded, is it possible to have more than one row generated in a listbox that can be selected, I only want indiviudal rows selected. Return Row Number With Largest Value

May 14, 2007

I've a column that contains numerical values. In my vba code, I have to select a block of cells at a time and get the row which has the maximum value.
One lame approach I am doing is wasting another column that extracts the max from the block of cells using Excel's Max function, and then doing a iterative search in the numerical column to get the cell tht contains the max value, and from it get the row number

Is there a better way such tht i can avoid the looping?

so in a nutshell, i want to get the row number from a range of cells that contains the maximum value

Drag Down Formula But Cell Reference Number Not Updating?

Jan 27, 2014

I am trying to drag down a formula (see below). the cell reference A6 and E6 is not updating to A7 and E7 etc etc when i drag the formula down using the corner thing. it remains constant at A6 and E6.

=HYPERLINK("#INDEX('Shipping Tracker Week X'!$F$4:$F$3000,MATCH(1,('Shipping Tracker Week X'!$B$4:$B$3000=A6)*('Shipping Tracker Week X'!$D$4:$D$3000=E6),0))","Link 1")

im pretty sure the problem comes down to the hashtag and quotation marks that i added, as the formula properly increased the cell references when i drag down without the hashtag and quotations. however, i sort of need it because adding those seems to be the only way i can get the hyperlink to link me over to the other sheet and to the correct cell containing the hyperlink.

part 2 of problem: the hashtag and quotations is currently a workaround method for me. the original intention was for the hyperlink to directly link me to a website, which is referenced from a separate sheet. however, without the hashtag and quotations, i get a "Cannot open specified file" error.

If Formula - Look At All Eight Cells Related To These Courses?

Jun 19, 2014

got a formula that checked C4, then D4 for dates (either in or our of date) and returns a count of 0 or 1, with some cells having tet in them also.

The formula I am currently using is below

=IF( OR(F4 ="enrolled",F4 = "O/S"),0, IF(AND(G4="",TODAY()-F4>730),0,IF(AND(TODAY()-F4>730,TODAY()<G4),0,1)) )

I have a range of four courses (all child protection) that should be attended, some are eleanring, some local authority courses and staff should attend at least one but up to all four of them. Although they all fall under the question are they compliant or not (i.e.0 or 1)i do not want to count them all seperately. Is there any way I can look at all eight cells related to these courses and assess the latest date to assess if they are complinat (in date) or non compliant (out of date)?

I have attached the spreadsheet which I hope will clarify things

=IF(AND(E4="",TODAY()-D4>730),0,IF(AND(TODAY()-D4>730,TODAY()<E4),0,1))

Array Formula To Find The First Related Value

Jun 29, 2009

(Thread: Max array with multiple columns) I got the following array formula:

{=MAX((A45:A47=A28)*(B45:D47))}

Here, where the value in A45:A47 is equal to A28, the maximum value is pulled from the same row, within cells B45:D47.

e.g.

A28 = Apples

A45 = Pears
A46 = Apples
A47 = Bananas

B46 = 10
C46 = 20
D46 = 23

The formula returns 23.

This is great. However, in order to control for a potential situation that will arise, I need to adjust this to find the first matching value within the data set. I do not know what the MAX should change to in order to find the first matching value.

Using the above example, if the data was now:

A45 = Apples
A46 = Pears
A47 = Apples

B46 = 10
C46 = 20
D46 = 23

How do you get the formula to return 10?

The position of "Apples" will change, hence the need for an array formula.

Copy Formula With Absolute Reference & Increment Row Number Every X Cells

Mar 25, 2009

I am creating a spreadsheet which creates a bulk of data from a front sheet.

The question is:
Is there a way to automatically copy a fixed formula for 100 cells using one fixed cell reference such as $A$1 and then automatically after 100 cells replace $A$1 with $A$2, after another 100 with $A$3 and so on?

Explanation with Example:

For example, Sheet1 contains the words "Green Tree" in Cell A1 and Sheet2 will then place "Green Tree" into 100 different sentences such as:

Plant a Green Tree
Grow a Green Tree today

This would be created with the formula ="Grow a "&'Sheet1'!$A$1& " today"

After 100 different variations using the formula I want to change that formula to reference cell A2 on Sheet1.

I know if I place "Red Tree" in Cell A2 and use the formula ="Grow a "&'Sheet1'!$A$2& " today" I can do this manually using find and replace for the 100 cells, but I want to do this for 100 different variations of Green Tree to create a 10,000 different sentences so I'd need to find and replace 100 times!
