What formula can I use to accomplish the following, if it can be done.
If B9 is 100% all the rest of the % cell inputs would be 0%
If B9 is less 100% ,lets say 50% all the rest of the % cell inputs would be less than or equal to 50% until any sum of those cells equal to 100%
in which case if I enter 50% on B9 and 25% on D9 and 25% on F9 their total sum would be 100%.
If I try to enter a % on H9 it should not allow me to do it
because then the total sum on O9 would be more the the original amount on A9
Is there any neat little way of preventing a character say '=' from been entered in a cell, kinda similar to the validation but for a 'dont allow' function.
I currently have a monitoring spreadsheet which my staff enter data into each month. There have been some problems with staff entering data wrong so I have decided to build a userform to prevent errors. I have 2 combo boxes one for selecting a month of the year and another for a particular call the user must enter data for. I want the userform to enter the data from the userform into specific cells in a specific area. e.g. If a member of staff entered data into the userform for February, Call 2 then it would appear in the relevant boxes.
I have a created recording sheet (attached) for the purpose of recording moths. I send this sheet out to those recorders who live in my county and at the end of the year they send the filled in sheet back to me. Over time I have put safeguards onto the sheet to ensure that I get the cleanest data returned to me. However, there is still one area which is giving me problems - users entering duplicate records.
Some formula which will stop recorders from entering those duplicate records. There are many columns on the sheet which recorders have to fill in with information, but as far as the duplicate records are concerned it is where the same information is entered into columns C, F and J that I'm having a problem with. It would be great if, when the same information was entered in these columns that the affected cells were highlighted in some way and if an error message appeared saying 'Duplicate record, either delete or alter grid reference'
I have entered two test duplicate record on the 'macro moths' sheet of the attached file : Test Recording sheet.xls
I have created a userform with 3 text boxes. It also has three buttons - clear, Cancel and Generate record button.
User form takes entries in the three text boxes and on clicking the Generate Record button, the values of the three Text Boxes are inserted in Column A, B and C of sheet1. The columns keep on populating with new data on each submit in the row below the last record.
Now it is required to enter data only if the value entered in TextBox1 is new and has not been entered previously in column A. If textbox entry is already aviailable in column A, a message box of 'Record available' shoud be prompted and the text entry must not be allowed until the data entered in TextBox1 is not unique.
I need a formula that can look at to cells, and if they are both the same pick cell A1 but if one of the cells has a higher amount than the other pick that one.
so the formula would do the following
look at the amount in A1 and B1 if A1 is higher than B1 input A1, if B1 is higher than A1 input B1 but if A1 = B1 then input A1,
I have a spreadsheet that I am using to track competitor retail pricing The problem is that I have a list of values and I want to be able to show how many of these values are either higher, lower or the same to a specific cell value. However one complexity that I have is that some of the competitors do not have values for all records (i.e. some are blank) and I want to discount these from the counting.
I am trying to determine how to great a formula for cells E5, E6 of the attached (in pink) that says if the value of the cell above (E4) is equal to or Greater than the value of cell E10, the cell will perform the formula that I already have in E5, E6.
But what I'm trying to do is create a 5 year investment plan whereby the worksheet automatically inputs those values for me if the balance is above our minimum reserve. That way I can play with the default assumptions and see how it changes throughout the worksheet.
I have a formula in a spreadsheet that must be entered by selecting Command (Apple) and Return. This puts parentheses around the entire formula. Example: {=A1+B1}
I have it in a SUM IF formula: {=SUM(IF('Dollars'!$A$2:$A$2546=A116,IF('Dollars'!$B$2:$B$2546=B116,'Dollars'!$E$2:$E$2546)))}
If it's not entered this way, it will not work. You cannot simply hit return for the formula to work.
Since I did this so long ago (4 years), I cannot remember what it's called; why it has to be done that way and how to do the same thing in Windows Excel.
The attached file contains hypothetical data on a basketball player's success from the free throw line. It lists the number of free throws attempted and the number made and then divides the number made by the number attempted to calculate the free throw percentage. However, I keep getting a # DIV/0! error in the games free throws weren't taken. How do I write the code so that when the error occurs, a message is displayed to the effect that no percentage can be reported because no free throws were attempted by checking the cell in column D? How do I use the IsError function to figure this out?
I'm creating a maths workbook in Excel. I want the user to workout the answer in his/her head and enter the answer into Excel. The only problem is, of course, that there is nothing stopping a user from simply typing a formula to obtain the answer! I have tried all data validation, apart from Custom which I can't figure out. Is there a way to prevent a user entering a formula on a worksheet?
i have made a document for other users to use. how can i limit the paste function to ONLY ALLOW PASTE SPECIAL-- i wish to aviod damage to formatting and formula etc
In this file i want the red coloured cells not to show zero (0) or anything unless anything else is entered in the cells above.In other words I want to hide the zero if nothing is entered above.
In Spreadsheet A Cell H8 is entered as Item Description.
In Spreadsheet B Cell H8 is also entered as Item Description, but if the Item Description in Spreadsheet A has been changed, I need Spreadsheet B to reflect that change, if not it should stay as Item Description.
Need a formula which will allow an error message to pop up in a cell if more than 16 Characters are entered into another cell?
However, I cant put an actual limit on the characters for this cell as if another cell is populated with anything other than bacs then it can allow more than 16. Therefore my formula needs to state something like :
I have a formula in one of my sheets that updates each time a new value is entered...
=INDEX('HR Reports Marco New'!BI:BI,COUNTA('HR Reports Marco New'!BI:BI),1)
The issue I'm having is that Column "BI" has an =SUM formula already in it and the formula above is going to the last value which is 0 but all the way to the end of the year when we are only in July...
There are two worksheets: Finances and Summary. On Finances, there is data input for years, quarterly. There is a cell on Summary that depends on which year is input first, in which case the cells in the formula SUM("cell1:cell4"))/4 is currently changed manually by the user by just checking to see which year data is input first on Finances. I need a macro or a formula function where the workbook finds which year is being used on Finances first, then changes the cells in the Summary formula accordingly.
I am trying to create a simple IF/THEN statement to display profit margin for an order form. I currently have the margin formula set at (1-H14/I14). How should I structure my IF/THEN, to where it displays nothing in the cells, that are empty?
Below is the code. It seems to be creating 50 thousand rows below the data already entered in the worksheet "DELPHI DATA". What I need to do is change it to only add those formulae or pasted values to as many rows as already have data entered in them (which may eventually approach 50000, but may remain at only a few thousand.)
I've got an issue where Formulas Referencing Cells on another sheet are getting changed automatically to refer the the moved cell data. The formulas on a sheet (2) refer to specific cells on sheet (1) within my workbook. I update Sheet(1) data with a macro. When sheet (1) updates, the present data gets shifted to the right.
In other words, I need to prevent the formulas from changing to reference the moved data values and keep referencing the initial cell with the new values. xample of change that occurs with update:
I am using following code to effect a change which works fine:
Code: Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) Sheets("Closed Flts").Unprotect "abcd" Sheets("Faults").Unprotect "abcd"
[Code].....
But when the sheet is unprotected to effect this change the formula in cells ( row I and L) are visible to user and can delete them. Or they can even delete the cell itself or modify formula.
The formule in Row I is Code: =IF(A12="","",IF(G12=1,A12,IF(G12=2,A12,IF(G12=3,A12+1,IF(G12=4,A12+5,IF(G12=5,A12+28,"priority?")))))) And in Row L is Code: =IF(A13="","",IF(I13
Dim rng As Range Dim i As Integer, counter As Integer
Set rng = Range("1:1")
i = 1
For counter = 1 To rng.Columns.Count
'If cell i in the range contains an "x", 'delete the column If rng.Cells(i) = "x" Then rng.Cells(i).EntireColumn.Delete Else i = i + 1 End If
Next
My problem is that I have cells in other worksheets linked to the worksheet that is running this macro and everytime I run it, I get a handful of "#REF" errors. I think this problem might be solved if I could simply delete the contents of the column rather than deleting the entire column. How can I modify my code to do this?
The following attacted program is a name generator. It randomly generates names from the Roster sheet to the shuffle sheet (to be randomized) then displays it on the watchbill sheet. The problem I'm having is that the names seem to be repeating themselves before the entire list is used at least once from the roster sheet. I need all the names to generate at least once then have it fairly repeat the names (but not in the same columns on the watchbill sheet). Can this be done using the formulas I have? I've been trying to figure this out forever, its just a little beyond my level.
I am in need of 2 validation macros (formulas) to enter into the validation criteria formula box when creating a custom validation.
1. A formula that will generate an error if there is a space in the text entry. Example:060107_Halo3CG prev.mpg would be an invalid entry due to the space after CG.
2. The same formula as above but this one also needs a 50 character limit added to the criteria.
I Spoke too soon here, I am getting value errors, how to do it with conditional formating. I tried if cell value is =to #DIV/0! then white (dosent work). Richard this dosent seem to work mate =IF(SUM(F6:V6),"",AL6/SUM(F6:V6))
I have an IF formula on one worksheet that refers to another worksheet (ex: =IF(Page1!$A13="";"";Page1!$A13). The problem is when I move data from one cell to another the formula becomes #REF. (ex: =IF(Page1!#REF="";"";Page1!#REF)).
