# Formula To Find Data And Return Other Column Value (similar To VLookup)

I would like to find the value from Sheet2 Column1 in sheet1 Column1 and return value from Sheet1 Column2 and Column3 into Sheet2 Column2 and Column3

And if it doesn't find anything just return Not Found

The problem that a Vlookup is not working for me is because I want it to be the exact text from sheet2 column1 but in sheet1 column 1 it should not be exact as it might have some extra text as seen in the illustration above

I need help creating a formula to find data in one column that starts with different letters and counts them up.

For example one column would contain the words amoung others:

DPDE

DNPD

EPRO

EOTH

YBRC

YUND

In the other column I want to count up the amount of times a word starts with the letter D or E or Y. The count comes from another spreadsheet, which the CMRF Tool (See attachment) is pasted at the bottom of.

The Monthly case report file is the file I want to get the count from. These would come from Column O once the data is there. The count would end up in column D of the CMRF tool which is pasted at the bottom of the monthly case report file.

I have one sheet that contains data about products, the product number, the class it belongs to, and many other bits. The data is sorted by product number.

In a second sheet I have a list of classes in column G, I'd like to return a list of product numbers in columns H to wherever is needed.

For example there might be two products in class one, class one is in G1, with the first product number in H1 and the second in H2.

I have created a sheet that contains a new diet program, calculated down to the precise calorie required for my training routine. Please see below for an example of one of my daily meals:

I need a formula that will help me to create a weekly shopping list (as the values in the example above will change on a regular basis). So I need to take all values from the from columns A & B, multiply them by 5 and then show me the totals in another sheet.

Similarly, I need to do the same with columns E & F, only they need to be multiplied by 2. The totals then need to be added to give me the required amount (in grams) for the week.

I am running a Vlookup on a large set of ID#'s that exist accross multiple servers.

The data is structured in (2) columns how you see below , and you will notice that the same ID# can show up on multiple servers.

However, the VLOOKUP is only returning the first match it finds.

Assuming that I want to keep the data structured as is, how do I make the vlookup return all matches?

I am trying to find some missing values compared to 6 base values. For instance, I have a sheet with some names translated to another language, I am trying to find the languages some names have not been translated too.

For example, if I have six languages, Arabic, Japanese, Russian, Chinese-Simplified, Chinese- Traditional, and Korean to compare too, I want to find any names that are not translated in certain languages.

I am trying to create a macro, that ultimately does the reverse of one written a while back.

I have created a macro that exports "Roster_Data" to "envision_Roster" in .csv style formatting. What I want to achieve is reverse engineer the macro to return the data back to a similar state.

I am trying to transpose column D into rows that correspond with dates in column c in a sheet called "OutputView" this in essence is similar if not exactly the same as the original worksheet "Roster_Data"

I have split the macro I am working on into three separate modules.

Module 1 - Initial Export of "Roster_Data" to "envision_Roster"

Module 2 - Format and output worksheet to find MAX date and MIN date and produce top rows of data

Module 3 - Analyse, Undertake Logical Tests of data, and transpose to suit (Replicate the initial "Roster_Data" view)

I'm having trouble visioning this altogether so I've been starting with basic code to output basic stuff, but I still can't relate this back to my data.

I have attached a file to make this easier. Basically I would like to search "Points Scored" (B2:W9) for the highest score (which I already have done) and when it is found return the team's name that is associated with it. Then do this for the second, third, etc. as it can be seen in the "Main" sheet. I'm thinking an index/find approach, but I just keep getting "N/A".

i have is 3 sheets in the same excel document. Sheet 1 is the mater sheet, which is a compilation of sheets 2 and 3, however the sheet layouts are different.

The sheets consist of a list of names and details. Sheet 1 has all the names in the list, however sheet 2 and 3 only have partial lists that are in a different order from the original list. The details listed next to the names in sheets 2 and 3 are different and hence a straight forward row copy and paste will not work.

What i need is to write a vba script that can take the name from the master list, search sheets 2 and 3 for the name and lookup the variables placed in next to the name, then update the master sheet accordingly, then continue to the next name on the master sheet and do the update again, and so on until all is updated. I have already thought about using lookup functions in excel however there is 1000 names on the list and around 60 details so it would be messy.

I have a spreadsheet with multiple columns. (Sheet1) The heading row is my customer name. (Sheet1) My column are the dates. On another spreadsheet, I would like to find the customer in Sheet2 in Sheet1, then do an index to find the relevant data I need, returned in Sheet2.

Sheet2: find customer "ABC" in Sheet1, if found, then find the date that also matches Sheet1 and Sheet2, and return data "apple" .

I need a formula to return column header if there is data in the column, any data.But I also need to return the second, third, fourth header with data too

This returns the row 1 header for the first instance of data in row 2 columns M thru T But in B2, I need the second header with data in the column.

I want to get value from reference one column and return value by corresponding row from another column. This can be done by vlookup column. But it find value from 1st column and return value from given relative column. That mean find from Left column and return value from right side given column number.

In the first vlookup it picks up a value. I need to do the same vlookup function but it should also pick up another value in column 9 and should add value in column 7 and 9 and return it. Employee id numbers are in column E in the first page.My formula checks for the employee id in Su sheet and retrieves the value from the seventh column. I need to retrieve also from 9 th column and add them together.

I would like to sum the values of a range using something similar to vlookup. The problem with using vlookup is that vlookup returns only the first instance. I have multiple values therefore vlookup would not work. I have 2 variables which is causing my frustration. I have added an example to explain. On the column where it says "correct answer" is where the formula should go. I displayed what the formula should produce so that it explains what I want as the output. The "static column" which contains variables 1 and 2 doesn't change.

The two variables it needs to search for is shown in the variable 1 and variable 2 columns. And the lookup range is on the left.

So basically it needs to match the two variables in the range and then grab the sum of ALL quantities where the two variables match . quantity amount is found on the leftmost column.

Is this possible. sumif works but only with 1 variable.

The main sheet on my workbook has 3 fields- 'Type' , 'Data1', 'Result'

For a given row, a certain formula will be applied on 'Data1' to calculate 'Result'. The formula will vary based on the value of 'Type'.

So example if Type = A, Result= Data1*10

Type = B, Result= Data1*20.

The actual formulas are a lot more complicated.

I know this can be done using a nested if statement, but I would like to know if this can be done using Vlookup (where the formula is returned and it is applied on 'Data1')?

I don't mind any other solution as well as long as I don't need to write a long nested if statement!

i am looking to create a vlookup but with the ability to easily change the column number index so that i can use different columns.

As an example. In a worksheet i have a table with the names of cars in column A starting row 3. Column B to m Row 1 is headed Jan to dec, row 2 same columns is a country name eg UK. Column N to Y row 1 is Jan to Dec again and row 2 of these columns is a diff country say Germany. This repeats for a few more countries. The data within Row 4 for these columns i.e per car is all prices. The table therefore shows the prices of cars per country per month.

I then have a seperate worksheet for each country where the cars are again listed in column A and Jan to Dec is in column b to M but the data is hard coded being the number of cars. I would like to use column N to link to 1 of these months hard coded counts dependant on what month i decide to forecast on. The easy way being that if i wanted to use Jan count number i would link the count for that car type to =b4 etc. Is there an easy way to allow me to change the link should i decide i want Feb ?

The second question is within each countries worksheet i want to bring into column p the countries related car price for a month i select. It may be that the count number differs from the price i select.

I am using vlookup to return a number from sheet 3. I then need to use the number that vlookup returns in a formula on the worksheet, but since the cell containing the number it returns is actually a formula itself (=Sheet3!A5), the formula returns #value!. How do I get just a number/value that I can use in the next formula?

I'm trying to use vlookup to return multiple values for the same unique identifier. I've read a couple of examples within the forums, but I haven't been able to find anything I understand. I have employee ID's and these ID's have specific access associated with their ID's and each access is listed within a different row. Within a new spreadsheet I removed all duplicates of the employee ID so now I no longer have a one to one match between spreadsheets, so I would like to create a vlookup that will list all access associated with each employee ID. I have attached a sample of the data sheet I am working with.

On sheet1, I want to insert a Vlookup formula that will look in the other two sheets and will return a value (say the variable Y) if two lookup values are met and return a blank if they are not met.

Example. Sheet1. CellA1 = apple CellB1 = 2. I want to search Sheet2 and Sheet3 row by row and if Sheet2 has A and B cells which correspond(a row with "apple" in column A and "2" in column B, return the value Y. If not, return blank. Sheet2 and Sheet3 will never have duplicate values (and if they did, returning a Y would be fine).

I'm looking for a formula to search for a value in the SECOND (instead of first) column of a table array and return a value in the same row from FIRST (instead of the same or another) column in the table array. Formula would be searching for the unique production order number in the column B and return production line id from the column A.

A1 production line_id

I was trying vlookup(504234;B2:A4;2;0) to make formula go search from right columns to the left but then excel is switching the search table to A2:B4 and gives #N/D!

One remark-there is no possibility to switch these 2 columns to simplify. I have to leave them as they are.

Problem is Findstring finds cells that contain "SS1" AND "SS1 EXT". These are separate grades.

I need Findstring to only find SS1. Using xlWhole doesn't work for me, as the cells also contain other data. For example: " SS1 48 /"
