I am continually getting data withthe format YYYY-MM however I cant get excel to recognize this as a date. i simply need a formula that converts the format to anything that excel will recognize as a date so that I can apply some other formulas to it.

IF Formula To Recognize Partial TEXT But Out Number

I'm trying to figure out a formula to be able to look at a column of txt and if it finds the word total it need to output the number at the column next to it. If the word total isnt in the text then it should leave it blanks (see below). Basically I want a column that pulls only the totals amounts in the column.

Formula That Will Recognize Date Range And Sum Specified Field Based On Range?

I like to create "templates" for files that I work with on a reoccuring basis, just to make things simpler. The current template I am working on tracks items processed by day and is used for two reporting purposes; 1 totals the pay ending items processed so I have the dates laid out based on the 2 week period with formulas for that. The 2nd way it is reported is by the month. Since this is a template, only the first day of the first pay period for a calendar year needs to be entered and the rest of the dates populate based on that date. What I would now like to do is add columns for January - December monthly totals using a formula that will read something like "if column A (where the date is) contains 1/1/2014 - 1/31/2014, then sum up column L" and than copy that formula for the remaining months.

VLookup Won't Recognize Text

I created a lookup helper sheet to do some data cleanup and serve as a key for future use.

The problem I'm having is that things that I am doing a vlookup on won't find the corresponding value in the key table.

So in the original sheet I had "blueberry" in the helper/key sheet I have "blueberry" as well. But I still get the "#N/A" error.

The key values in the helper sheet were all derived from the original by using a pivot then copying those values so there were only unique values over to the helper sheet.

I had them both formatted as general and tried formatting to text as well.

Get Weeknum To Recognize Change In Year Within Date

Which works fine an counts the weeks from the input date I1239 from the initial start date K1239, however if the input date runs into next year 2014 the result ends up as a minus figure eg -47 instead of the next sequential figure which would be say 5 or 6

Macro To Recognize Date That Is 48 Hours Before Current Time

I have a spreadsheet that contains a list of names/numbers/dates and I have to manually go through the list each day highlighting the row if it contains a date that is more than 48 hours old. How to accomplish this in a macro? Example:

Name.......Phone Number:......Ticket Number......Date Added
xxxx........555-555-5555...........5555555............2/12/12
xxxx........444-444-4444...........4444444............2/15/12
xxxx........123-456-7890...........1234567............2/10/12

That is the layout of the spreadsheet so I would have to manually highlight rows 2 and 4 because the date in Column D is greater than 48 hours ago. The range is A1:D25 and the cells are changed/updated daily.

I want VBA to take an equation that has been entered into an worksheet cell as text and evaluate it. Here's a very simplified example that shows the concept:

Cell A1 may contain the text: "A * B + C"

I would like to do something on the order of this in VBA:

Sub Test()
Dim A As Integer, B As Integer, C As Integer

A = 2
B = 4
C = 6

MsgBox Evaluate(Workbooks("Book1").Sheets("Sheet1").Range("A1").Value)

End Sub

Obviously, this doesn't work, but I want it to show a result of 14. The actual situation is much more complex, but it all comes down to being able to evaluate the text in a worksheet and recognize the variable names that are in it.

Formula To Recognize The Information

=SUMIF($A$2:$A$9,F2,OFFSET($C$2:$C$9,1,0))

It works great.

The issue is that the information (time) that I import into excel doesn't show as information if there is a zero in front the amount of hours. I can physically see the information but have trouble using it. For instance if I add

(A1) 05:25:25
(A2) 10:25:25
(A3) 02:25:25

If I total/SUM this my total is 10:25:25. It will not recognize anything under 10 with a first digit as a zero. So for me to add this I use:

=SUMPRODUCT(B3:B25+0)

This also works great. Now on to my issue.

I am using the 1st formula to grab data i.e. (A1). It will not recognize that as anything. It comes up as zero. I can't figure out what to add to the 1st formula for it to recognize the info.

Possible To Use Conditional Formatting To Recognize Or Ignore Certain Text In Cells?

I am working on the monthly duty roster that is attached. I have the cells at the bottom configured to total how many early shifts, late shifts and off days each Trooper has. My problem is that I often need to add text to show what type of leave is being taken, or numbers to correspond to the special notes section numbered 1-24, and so on.

Is there any way to use conditional formatting to do this so that the totals at the bottom still sum correctly? Badge numbers are used to identify each Trooper. I have included them at the top for reference. The reason that I referenced them to total by cell instead of individual badge numbers is that I am attempting to format this so that any badge numbers can be entered at the top. This form will be used by other groups of Troopers if I can get it to work.

Any Formula To Recognize Value Vs. Formula

Sounds kind of confusing, but here's what I am trying to do. I have a stock template that goes out to MSN Stock Quote and retrieves data each time you click a button embedded in the worksheet. After doing this, the user must click a "FINALIZE" button that pastes the values of what was just retrieved into the same cells, thereby eliminating the formulas. This part works fine. The problem is I want to create some sort of warning sign for the users that lets them know if they have left formulas in the spreadsheet before they send it to others.

Is there some sort of formula (kind of like an =ISERROR formula) that would recognize if a cell contains a value or a formula?

Date And Text In One Formula

I am trying to write a formula which has text and then a date which is taken from a different sheet in the workbook.

EG the text is "Nav as at 31st March 06"

With 'Nav as at' being the text and the date 31st March being picked up from the other sheet.

However the date on the other sheet is the following month, ie 30th June. SO I would need it to pick up the End of the month and minus it by one month and add it to the text.

The results I want are Start Date: MMM-DD-YYYY End Date: MMM-DD-YYYY

What I am getting is: Start Date: 41537.7083333333 End Date: 41537.7083333333

So excel is give me the numeric values of the date instead of the formatted date. I tried to format the cell as date, but as I expected that didn't work because the cell also has text in it.

I have this formula =TEXT(inventory!I2,"mmm-yyyy") which takes the date from another spreadsheet, but anytime that the date is missing, it susbstitutes for Jan-1900. Is there any way to revise the formula to leave the missing dates blank in the cell? For example, if the date is missing on the other worksheet, in this case, the inventory worksheet, is there any way for a blank to appear, instead of the Jan-1900? Also, anyway for this formula to spell out the month, and not just the abbreviation?

I am trying to put together a report tracking sheet, ie I have different test that take a different length of time to return to the office and I want to be able to see when a test should be back from the lab,ie:

A blood sample takes 1 day, a urine sample takes 3 days.

I need a formula that basically says that if the data in cell A1 = Blood, (and I have the test date in cell A2) then the data in cell A3 should says A1=Blood, A3=A2+1 to give me the test due date

I found the following formula in one of the other posts;

=IF(E5="BLOOD",G5+1,IF(E5="URINE",G5+3,0))

The problem that this will only work with two tests and I have more than two tests, I have fourteen and each takes a different length of time to process.

I need an IF formula, that states if a date is more than a month after the date in the cell then it is timely and if it isn't then it is not timely. For example the date in A1 is 12/11/05, if the cell is A2 is 13/12/05 (or any date after that) then A3 should read Not Timely, if A2 is 12/12/05 (or any date before that, including a date before the date in A1) then A3 should read Timely. Excel 2013 :: Extract Date And Time Info From A Text Cell That Contains Text And Date And Time

I am using Excel 2013. Anyway, the first issue is that I need to pull a date and a time period from text. So, for example, if I see something like Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM, I would want to pull ONLY the "7/6/14 8:37PM" out of it. Each text box could potentially be different, so it might not always be in the same format as "Sunday Prime Time 7/6/14 8:37PM" it might only show just the date and/or the time without all the extra text i.e. 7/6/14 8:37PM. Some of the cells will have text, others might only have just the time or even just the date and the time. The only thing that I am worrying about in each cell is extracting just the date and time. If this is too much to ask of excel, I would be ok with extracting ONLY the time - 8:37PM and not the date, but I would much rather be able to get both the time and date.

THEN, onto part two of my question. After I would pull the dates and times, I need to compare them with each other. So, when I have the same date with two separate times on that date, I need to write a formula to show if those times on that date are less than 30 minutes apart. So, if I have 6 times on 7/6/14, I need to know if any of them are less than 30 minutes apart.

I would need to have the formula say something like "Problem" if the times on 7/6/14 would be 5:30PM, 5:48PM, 7:00PM, 8:00PM, 8:15PM, and 9:00Pm for example. I would like to see the word "Problem" since 5:30PM and 5:48Pm is only 18 minutes apart, and "Problem" after 8:15PM since that is only 15 minutes past the 8:00PM which is obviously under 30 minutes. The times that are more than 30 minutes apart such as 7:00PM and 9:00PM for example are more than 30 minutes apart from any of the other times that were extracted.

I am trying to filter data in one sheet depending on a variable in another. But even though I have the same formatting in both sheets it will not recognize the number. I am having trouble creating a formula to help me recognize the 4 cells that I have.

On C1, I need this cell to identify the numbers in E1, F1, G1, and H1.

On E1, F1, G1, H1 each of the cell have a number.

If all the cells (E1,F1,G1,H1) have a digit, does not matter what number it is, than C1 would automatically place "ABCD" and in white.

E1 = A
F1 = B
G1 = C
H1 = D

any time a cell has a digit, then C1 would tell me which of those cells are used with A,B,C, or D.

ISNA Does Not Recognize #N/A

I realize there are a number of threads on this topic, and I've read through them but have been unable to apply those answers to this problem. I've attached a sample of the worksheet in question. The worksheet is supposed to tell me if messages are supported via a certain Network (BFX).

Column A is the result of a VLOOKUP function, which returns Yes or No if the entry is found, or #N/A if the entry is not found. Column B is my attempt to translate column A into strictly "Yes" and "No", converting an #N/A into a "No". For some reason, the ISNA( function I'm using doesn't seem to work, as highlighted in row 18.
