Formula To Stop Calculation If Redemption Status Is Not Yet To Be Dispatched
Mar 17, 2014
I have a file that tracks orders placed.
Column A gives the request date of the order, based on the TAT in column B the projected dispatch date gets calculated.
Once the order is dispatched and the date gets updated in column Z, the redemption status in column V gets updated as "Dispatched within TAT" or "Dispatched out of TAT" based on whether they have met the TAT or not. If the dispatch date is left blank then it shows "Yet to be dispatched".
My problem is that the column D does not stop calculation even after the order is dispatched. And therefore because of the conditional formatting turns red the minute the number is more than 0. So it is misleading.

I am looking for assistance for 2 vbcode functions that will provide current:
1) Calculation Mode - whether automatic, manual or semi automatic; and
2) Calculation Status - whether a recalc is required or not.
These functions need to work regardless of the calculation mode and always need to show the current status.I have tried creating volatile functions, but the problem I face is that if the calculation mode is manual, the function's return value is not updated unless I force a recalc which renders the purpose of the exercise useless.

I have a IF formula that check if “F13” cell is "+" if not do calculation (F13-E13) and stop, if yes go to the previous line and check if the “F12” is "+" if not do calculation (F12-E12) and stop, if yes continuo to the previous cell and so on until you find cell without “+”
The EXCEL IF formula is
=IF(F13="+",IF(F12="+",IF(F11="+",IF(F10="+",IF(F9="+",IF(F8="+",E8-F8),F9-E9),F10-E10),F11-E11),F12-E12),F13-E13). I'm looking for VBA code with FOR to run and do the same without the limitation of 7 if inside if.

Example: I have Sheet 2 set to autocalculate on activate using vb. So when you click on that tab "Sheet 2" it will autocalculate.
My Question is, I have another macro that is copying information between Sheet 1 and Sheet 2. And I don't want calculation to occur during the macro but since it has to select Sheet 2 it performs the autocalculate. Do I have any options to prevent the calculation from occuring when I run my copy paste macro? I only want it to autocalculate when the user selects sheet 2

I have a report whose calculation time I've reduced greatly by turning off automatic calculation and including in the worksheet code directions to only calculate the impacted range. BUT, it still takes a lot of time to calculate on close, when I turn automatic calculation back on. I'm afraid my users will think their machines have crashed. Does anyone know of a way so that on close, the workbook does not calculate, even though Calculation is turned back on to automatic?
Private Sub Workbook_Activate()
With Application
.Calculation = xlManual
.MaxChange = 0.001
.CalculateBeforeSave = False
End With
End Sub
Private Sub Workbook_Deactivate()
With Application
.Calculation = xlAutomatic
.MaxChange = 0.001
End With
End Sub

attached spreadsheet, columns A-E are given data, col B shows the redemption frequency, col C shows the advanced notice period and col E shows the our first investment date. I would like to display the result in one column showing the next redemption date..
e.g. for Fund 1, it's redemption term is quarterly 30 days notice, which means.. next redemption period will be 30/09/2007 (get money back) and we have to give the redmeption notice latest on 31 Aug 2007 becos of 30 days advance notice to exit the fund
e.g. for Fund 2, it's monthly 90 days notice, which means if we put in a redemption notice today then 90 days from now on will be 8 november, hence can get money back on 30 November 07.
What formula shall I use to display
- next available redemption date
- exit date (get money back)

I have a percentage calculation that I need to ensure excel does not round up the last digit.
My calculation is 2463000(cell:I13) divided by 257000(cell: I14+I15)
Excel calculates this value to be 0.958365759
However I need it to display and re-use only 0.9583657 as my calculation has to be precise to 7 decimal places.
If I use the formula =ROUND(I13/SUM(I14+I15),7) then excel returns the value 0.9583658 - it rounds the last digit up.
I have tried to use the option "Set precision as displayed" and set my decimal places to 7 but this still sees my 7th digit rounded up.
How do I set it so the 7th digit is not rounded up.
My original formula is =IF(AND((L3+L8+L13)<=O3,(L3+L8+L13+L18)>O3),((O3-(L3+L8+L13))*I18/L18))
I have updated it to be =IF(AND((L3+L8+L13)<=O3,(L3+L8+L13+L18)>O3),((O3-(L3+L8+L13))*(ROUND(I18/L18,7))))

This formula is being used in a vacation time spreadsheet. So after each paycheck the if statement is applied and need to calculate the accumulation for that week based on if the person has worked 5 yrs or less. I need to stop the today's date calculation in the if statement after it is used. So that each time the spreadsheet is opened the values are a fixed number not changed based on the current date. However if the if statement is pasted into the next pay week it will calculate based on the actual date.
It is calculating is the following:
C4 = 5yrs Anniversary Date of Hire
3.08= less than 5 yrs
4.62= more than 5 yrs
=IF(($C$4)<=TODAY(),4.62,3.08)

I have some vba code that currently copies a status table out of a worksheet, into a temp file for an email. The status table in excel has a column D which can have different status. I want to select everything in the table except rows that are 'Descoped'. Currently my code looks like:
Set rng2 = Sheets("Execution Status").Range("B2:F420")
This picks up everything without looking at the status. I want to change it so it doesn't pick up the rows where Column D contains 'Descoped'.
In pseudo code I would describe it as:
Set rng2 = Sheets("Execution Status").Range("B2:F420") where value in D5:D420 is not equal to 'Descoped'.
I have tried:
Set rng2 = Sheets("Execution Status").Range("B2:F420").Value "Descoped" and nothing gets selected.

For example, I have put a formula in C2 which wud work out a result "Profiler" when the cell in A2 is C1 provided column B has one of the mentioned values as per the formula.
Moreover, when the value in A3 changes to "C002", how do I caculate a different value for Status in the same formula?

Let's say "Wasim" would have completed 7 tasks and would updated the relevant cell as Completed.
Now in a huge data list How will i find "Wasim" and how do i calculate how many he has completed.
I believe Pivot table would be the answer here but is there any formula which would replace the pivot table?

i didn't realize is that my current funcation that calculates vacation hours... will increase after a new year. i'd rather have it not increase until they are "reset" for the new year. how do i stop the function? =VLOOKUP(DATEDIF(A8,TODAY(),"y"),$S$8:$T$10,2)
basically goes to a lookup table with the caculations. PROBLEM: if a user's anniversery date passes, they may go from a 1-2 year status to 3 year bump... this will auto adjust the amount of vacation hours they have. if the reset button is ran to calculate the vacation hours, it might over calculate giving the user 40+ extra carryover hours. anyway i can make this vlookup stop when the current date is or has passed the anniversery date, yet has not been reset? maybe a count down timer, not sure. http://www.ozgrid.com/News/excel-eva....htm#ExcelTips

I have a very large spreadsheet which holds a lot of data, and has a custom reports system built into it, (i.e. running on a load of macro's)... The reports gather their info from a range of hidden cells which run different formula's to provide such results as 1 or 0 so that it collates into another sheet...
however, I have found recently that when I need to update any of the formula's and whatnot, the formula does the calculation and then disappears... whereas I need the formula to be there constantly so that the report is providing the correct information!
one such formula is:
=IF(AND(AC11"No Calc",AC11>=1,AC11

The attached file contains hypothetical data on a basketball player's success from the free throw line. It lists the number of free throws attempted and the number made and then divides the number made by the number attempted to calculate the free throw percentage. However, I keep getting a # DIV/0! error in the games free throws weren't taken. How do I write the code so that when the error occurs, a message is displayed to the effect that no percentage can be reported because no free throws were attempted by checking the cell in column D? How do I use the IsError function to figure this out?

I am looking for the code to keep certain cells from being rested on, they can be clicked on but in order for you to view the formula in the cell you have to hold down the mouse button otherwise it will move you over to the cell next to it. I was using another worksheet a while ago and was trying to view the formulas but when I clicked on the cells holding them it would move me to the next cell, the only way I could view them was to hold the mouse button down as soon as I would release it it would be gone! I do not want to protect the sheet, if there is another way to hide formulas I am open to all ideas!

I am working on a formula that, eventually, I would like to be inserted into cells using VBA's FormulaArray Range function. Unfortunately, in its present state, the formula is too long and clumsy to meet the 255 character limit on that function. While I know that I can easily shorten the current formula with simple adjustments, such as using named ranges, I still am forced to ask whether the design of the formula itself could not be improved.
The heart of the formula is an Index/Match combination which will search if any line on the 'Archive' sheet meets the three criteria on the line specified in the 'Data Log' sheet. If so, it returns the value from a particular column of the matching row on the archive sheet. If not, it returns N/A.
=INDEX(Archive!$E$1:$E$1999, MATCH(1, IF(Archive!$B$1:$B$1999='Data Log'!$A2, IF(Archive!$A$1:$A$1999='Data Log'!$C2, IF(Archive!$D$1:$D$1999=1,1))),0))
In an effort to circumvent this unsightly N/A result I have attempted to use the ISNA function paired with an IF statement. The idea is that if the result is N/A then "Pending" will display instead. Otherwise the result of the indexing formula will display. This approach is outlined below:
=IF(ISNA(index function), "pending", index function)
The problem, of course, is that the indexing formula is rather long, and, with this approach, I am required to put its entire contents in the formula twice. I would greatly appreciate any help in streamlining this formula. Remember, the final goal is simply to search the 'Archive' sheet for a single line meeting three criteria and return a value from a fourth column, or if not return "pending".

I'm trying to create an excel spreadsheet that keeps track of the highest value from a dynamic series. First a bit of background:
A manufacturer produces widgets made from gold. Therefore in order to quote manufacturing prices, they typically get a live gold price using Excel's web services and if the live price is higher that the last gold price they used, then they update their base price list for gold components. If the live price is lower than the last gold price they used, the last gold price does not change.
I'm trying to produce the above logic in Excel using:
Cell A1: [Excel data connection to pull live Gold price] - no problem here
Cell A2: dynamic 'price' that only updates if cell A1 is higher than cell A2
Cell A2 is where I'm getting stuck. I can't think of how to create a formula that updates cell A2 if cell A1 is higher.

If I have a formula that uses cells that are currently blank - and then run a macro that puts data into those cells - the original formula cell ranges change - even if I put $ within the ranges.
i.e.
Cell A1 has formula = sumproduct(e1:e10>10)
Currently cells E1:E10 are empty
Run the macro
E1:E10 now has data in.
But formula in cell A1 now reads something like =sumproduct(E13:E23>10) or could read =sumproduct(Ref#>10)

I was wondering if there is a formla that will delete a formula when it has done its calculation, or stop the formula from constantly updating.
I've got a formula
=IF(COUNTA(A1)=1,TODAY(),"")
When something is typed in Cell A1 the cell with the formula will input todays date.
Is there a formula that will stop this formula from updating, as when you go into the file on a different day the date would have been updated.

cost/(1-G6) and then round result up to next .25

I am using the vlookup above to bring the mail rates to a calculator. I want to add a margin to the mail rates before they reach the calculator.
The margin amount is in G6 of the "data" sheet and the margin formula is "mail rate"/(1-G6)
