Get LastRow Based On Series Of Columns Ranges?
Aug 20, 2014
I know how to get the last row for columns, usedrange... etc but I don't know how to get the lastrow based on multiple column range
For example, find the last row between columns A:M but IGNORE N:O however we still want to check/get the last row for P:Z

I am using Excel 2010. I created a macro to fill a report. Each section of the report is a department, each department has 53-55 (I forget the exact number) lines underneath the department number. So in the macro, for each department I am trying to use the code block
Code:
If Not IsNothing Then
If WorksheetFunction.CountA(Cells) > 0 Then
LastRow = Range("D60:D114").End(xlUp).Row
[Code]....
The font in red is the variable range. The first department has Range("D58").End(xlUp).Row for example. When I run the second department, it finds the empty cell under the first department's section. For example: I go to run the second department with the range of D60:D114, the cell that is selected by the "Address = "portion of the code is D10, because D4-9 has information in it.
What I need is for it to see that D60 (or D61, etc) is empty and paste the copied information into that cell. I am trying to find a way to do this without using "If cell D60 > 0 Then Activecell.Offset(1,0)", because this is a yearly report being filled in every week.

I am building a sheet to display deadlines (rows) by project (columns). I would like to have it automatically hide the rows and columns based on the date of the deadline. If the deadline is today or 1 week from today the associated rows and columns should be visible, otherwise, I would like to hide them.
My table is A1:N9, with A1 being a blank, row names A2:A9, and column names B1:N1.

I have written a VBA procedure which is supposed to hide unneeded columns (based on the a number entered in a certain cell. This is working so far. Since I need to sum only the visible cells in a row i need to clear the contents of a range of cells if they will be hidden. Unfortunately the code i have written runs only to the ClearContents and then starts over from the beginning. If i take out the .clearcontents and put .Select for example instead, the code runs perfectly.
Here is the
Sub worksheet_calculate() 'Hide columns that are not needed
Sheet1. Unprotect
Application. ScreenUpdating = False
Dim i As Integer
Dim r As Integer
Dim s As Integer
Dim rngRange As Range
i = 2

I've created my dynamic named ranges using the OFFSET function, ex.
="OFFSET(SAMPLE!$D$4,1,0,COUNTA(SAMPLE!$D:$D)-1,1)"
I'm now trying to get my chart to use that range. I read at [URL] .... that I need to make sure my series reference is a fully qualified reference. So I've entered that series reference using the name of the workbook followed by the range name (=2012-PIRS.xlsx!SAM_CLAR2DEL). I have two copies of my workbook (one as xlsm with VBA project, and one with xlsx without VBA) and I can't get Excel to accept the series value in either workbook.

- Make sure you've included all parentheses and required arguments.
- To use a function, click Insert Function on the Formulas tab (in the Function Library group).

- If you are not trying to enter a formula, avoid.........

I have a log where I'm recording daily readings of a pipette. Each day three readings are taken and I have each stored as a dynamic range so that I can monitor how in control my process is. However, when I graph it, I would like it to be one continuous line graph (Three readings from day one followed by three readings from day two, etc.). I'm having difficulty doing any sort of combination.

I have a chart in a workbook that works fine by looking at the following data series:
=Workings!$A$2:$C$35
In the data series above...where the numbers are 2 and 35 I have named ranges "CHART_Start_Row" and "CHART_End_Row" which will change dynamically as appropriate and can replace these static numbers - but how do I incorporate these named ranges into the data series reference?

I'm having a problem moving the cell cursor 2 rows down once I find my LastRow (see LastRow code below). My problem is I need to move down 2 VISIBLE Rows down and I'm running into it moving 2 Rows down whether they are Visible or Hidden? If Row 50 is my LastRow, and I have it move 2 rows down, if Row 52 is Hidden, it still moves to Row 52 which can't be seen by the user after I do my stuff to that row? I can't unhide any hidden rows for other reasons. Is there a way to have the cursor move down 2 VISIBLE Rows instead of 2 Rows regardless?
The code I use to select the LastRow is:
LastRow = Cells(4000, 8).End(xlUp).Row
I move down 2 more rows using:
Cells(LastRow + 2, 8).Select 'Then I do some stuff here for the user, so it can't be a hidden row

The problem is that LastRow does not seem to look in the workbook that the macro has open, and always returns a value of 1. If I place the sheet that i want to run the macro on, in the workbook that contains the macro there is no problem. What do I need to do to fix this.
LoopCount = Sheets("Dates").Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
rng = 2
i = 1
Do
Selection.AutoFilter Field:=7, Criteria1:="=" & Sheets("Dates").Range("A" & rng), Operator:=xlAnd
z = Range("B" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
For y = 2 To z
If Rows(y).Hidden = False Then Exit For
Next y
MsgBox y
MsgBox z
Range("H" & z).Formula = "=Countif($A$" & y & ":$A$" & z & ",A" & z & ")"
Range("H" & z).Copy Destination:=Range("H" & y & ":H" & z)
rng = rng + 1
i = i + 1
Loop Until i = LoopCount

I need help creating a macro that will search through my excel spreadsheet and for every instance where column A isn't empty it should cut a range of columns from that row and paste them in a different range of columns in the row before it. It should then delete the row that it cut the columns from and keep searching until it has done this for the whole worksheet. I can modify which range of columns are needed, but it has been so long since I've worked with excel macros that I haven't been able to do it.

I have set my 'lastrow' to the last value in column A. The problem is, this code gets run whenever an autofilter is made. As a result, the 'lastrow' records itself as the last row of visible data. In reality, I need it to track the actual last row of total data.
lastRow = .Cells(.Rows.Count, "A").End(xlUp).Row

I need to 'fill down' a series of formulas in several columns - but the number of rows I need to fill down will vary dependent on my raw data.
See attached file.
Worksheet 1 - contains the raw data which is copied and pasted in from an external source. In this example, there are 20 records.
Worksheet 2 - brings in the raw data from worksheet 1 and does some calculations. The formulas are in the first 30 rows - in case the number of records grow. But what happens if the number of records is, say, 40?
I have a much bigger workbook in reality - so having too many formulas will increase the file size.

solve this task with a formula or a macro?
I have this strange number data stored by columns. Each cell contains one number series of different length from 1 to 13.
Needed results 1, Needed results 2
7409998765 7409998766 , 9998766567876, 7409998765 9998766 9998766 7409998766 9998766 9998766567876 9998766 9998766
I need to look-up and bring in one cell for each row only the 10 length numbers separated by space and in another cell the 13 length numbers space separated also.
The number of columns containing data is different from row to row ( from 2 to 60)....and the rows..are thousands..

I am currently using MS Excel 2007. Is there a way in VBA to automatically insert missing columns based on a defined series or range of values?
For example, we have a report that displays columns of: Year 2004 to Year 2012 per column (9 columns in total).
Sometimes, it displays missing a year or years (thus; our report has less columns). For example, it only shows 2008 to 2012 (missing 2004 to 2007). At times, it misses some years in between. What we do is manually add those missing years by manually inserting columns then inputting the missing year as their column headers.
Is it posisble for VBA to check if the columns contain all of the defined Year range (for example, you've initially defined: Year 2004 to Year 2012)? Afterwards, all missing columns are automoatically inserted (in chronological order or based on your defined values or range).

Auto fill series based on Condition.(Excel 2003)
I know very little about macros (basically just concepts). I found this macro suggested in another thread (posted By VoG II…Thanks)
Sub test()
Dim Lastrow As Long
Lastrow = Range("A5").Value + 4
Range("B5").AutoFill Destination:=Range("B5:B" & Lastrow), Type:=xlFillSeries
End Sub
When this macro is run the first time it will fill in the numbers 2 through 15 (as I had hoped). Given 15 is the variable and 1 is the start of the range...

what I am trying to do:
I have a workbook with 2 sheets.
Sheet "A" has a column called "FILEPATH" that contains the complete path to a file (eg. "C:mystuffdocumentsdocA.pdf"). There are about 3500 rows of filepaths on this sheet.
Sheet "B" has a column called "DELETED FILES" that contains a list of deleted filenames (eg. docA.pdf, docC.pdf, etc.), one filename in each cell.
I want to highlight the rows on Sheet "A" that contain a path to a file that is listed as deleted on Sheet "B".

I run a large simulation experiment. I have a loop plotting data in excel of a user defined area. Because of the limit of 255 series I have allowed a maximum of 250 simulations (they all need to be plotted). But the length of each simulation is free. I know there is a limit of 32.000 data points in a graph and I have this as a condition too.
If I set the data range to 100 columns and 3000 rows the graph is produced when I plot by columns. (code below)
But if I set the data range to 250 columns and 1000 rows I get the above mentioned error message. Even though I only have 250 series.
After the data is plotted it is the code below that gets the error:

I just recently installed Excel 2007 and I would like to know if it's possible to change all data points of a chart at the same time. In Excel 2003, I would normally hold down shift while clicking on each of the data points to make a global change. However, it appears I cannot do that in 2007.
I would like to display each data point's series name. When I go to Layout on the Excel Ribbon, and click on "Data Labels", and click on "More Data Label Options", the actual Y-axis values are shown for each data point. However, I do not want this - I actually only want the Series Name, but when I uncheck "Value" and check "Series Name" instead (under "Label Contains"), it only changes it for one of the series. Is there a better way, instead of going through each and every single series to make this change?

A line graph is using a data row to plot the line; works fine. The data series ranges have been named for Week1 (H10), Week1_2 (H10:I10), Week1_3 (H10:J10), Week1_4 (H10:K10), Week1_5 (H10:L10), Week1_6 (H10:M10), Week1_7 (H10:N10), ...etc.
This is the data series formula name example to plot the data series from week 1 through week 7; ='Product Plan Q3 Week 7.xlsx'!Q3Wk1_7.
The series name formula Q3Wk1_7 for week 1 through week 7 is =$H$10:$N$10.
When this name is manually entered as a Series Value for the line graph, the graph plots exactly the way it is expected. The same is true if the Series Value is manually modified for some other ranges such as Week 1 through Week 9 (='Product Plan Q3 Week 7.xlsx'!Q3Wk1_9).
My challenge is to enter this Series Value based on the manually entered week number elsewhere; i.e., we're in week 7, the Series Value should be ='Product Plan Q3 Week 7.xlsx'!Q3Wk1_7. I've been trying to use an HLOOKUP table to select the correct Series Value formula based on the week number. The HLOOKUP works fine resulting in selecting the correct formula. I can also Name the range of data I want to graph and copy the name into the Series Value field with successful results. How do I get such a formula or Named range into the Series Value field without type it in? I want to set that Series Value to a range or name without having to select the line to manually enter the value.

I have a excel sheet of data numbers which blongs a packet of inventory where i found number series like this:
Start Range End Range Qty
2101200 2101499 300
I have to draw this onto a series like 2101200 then 2101201 then 2010202 etc.
but some time these numbers are in qty 30000 or more. I have questions
1- If any macro colud fill series suppose if write number in A2 and qty in B2 so it reads the qty of b2 and fill the series in A. If i write 1 in A2 and write 50 in B2 so the series should be auto fill 1 to 50.
My Second question is opposit of my above question.
2- if i have different number series in column a and i want them to be as start number in column b and end number in column c and qty in column d based like mentioned below example.
Series [b]Start Range End Range Qty
1 1 1 1
3 3 3 1
5 5 7 3
