With the following code I can get shape properties, but I can get it for the linkedcell of the shape.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a form with several combo boxes, and they function just the way I like as far as being able to pick from the list, or typing in them and having it show you the next available item in the list as you add letters. Whats happening that I would like to know how to deal with is... as soon as you type a letter that is not in my lookup range it generates an error. "Could not get the list property - Invalid property array index". I don't want people to be able to add to the list, but I would like a msgbox to pop up. Then allow them to go back to the box and try again.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to select a shape in a cell and place a cell reference into the shape. I know the cell address, but do not know the shape reference. (The row that the cell and shape reside came from copying the row from another sheet and inserting it into the current sheet). I can not seem to come up with the correct code to accomplish this. Right now I have:

Where r+1 is the row where the line finally resides after insertion and "AW" is the column to the right of the cell where the shape resides.
I have tried to put the cell reference into the shape at the location where it is copied from but the reference is not dynamic and I can not seem to get it to be. Another issue that will arise is that the rows in the new sheet will probably be sorted and I question if the cell reference will follow the shape's new location.
I have a couple of hundred string values in column A. I am trying to create the same number of rectangle shapes in column B, each one taking its name from the corresponding cell in column A. I keep hitting the dreaded 400 error code .

I would like the shape to go red, yellow and green but I can't find anything that works.
I'm trying to make a circles size (diameter) change depending on a value inputted in a cell, preferable I would like to have a limit to the sizes too so if that the circle will not have a diameter larger than 20 or smaller than 2 regardless of the values put in. the sheet will have several circles.

It's difficult to explain, the attached shows the situation better. Basically there's a picture that is somehow linked to a cell. But, you can update the picture or the cell and the other one gets updated.

i did this but it selects the first blank row (row 15) and gives me an empty message box 14 times (which is right, but i need 14 values) the reason i need the loop is because the number ov values will always change
I have this worksheet with 2 buttons and 2 textboxes.the first button is named search literally to search the items inputted in the textboxes and the second button is clear which clear all the inputted items in the textboxes and the search field. I manage to code those things however I have a main problem. How am I suppose to linked a checkbox with those items?
For example I searched this particular item so the checkbox corresponding to that item must show up in the left most column of it. and if I searched multiple items those checkboxes must show up too. I am having a hard time coding and trying since I am new in vba. I also attached a sample worksheet. I am using excel 2007.

I am trying to create conditional formating of a cell based on the value of another cell whish is linked to another sheet. I an using the "The formula is =$AA$30=1" where the cell AA30 is the cell linked to the other sheet. the problem is I have to do thiss for approx 200 cells ie =$AA$30=1, =$AB$30=1, =$AA$31=1, =$AB$31=1 --- =$AZ$42=1. Do I have to enter the formulea for each cell or is there a way to automate this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn the attached spreadsheet there is two irregular shapes. "Area1" & "Area2". I need to be able to determine which area the "ball" shape is located in. If the ball is in Area1 then "Multiply 8" gets the ball and "Multiply 9" moves to the blue cell "AH39". If the ball is in "AreaB" Multiply 9 gets the ball and "Multiply 8" runs to cell "S37"
I should be able to do the moving of the shapes using all the samples, its determining which area the ball is in is the problem.
In the real spreadsheet i will probably have around 10 different Areas.

I have a cell with a link to a closed worksheet.
The problem I am experiencing is when the linked worksheet is open the data found and the cell automatically populated.
When the linked workbook is closed, I get nothing.
If I check links/source I get the message Error: Undefined or non-rectangular name, neither of which are true statements.

In A1, other code inserts the name of a Form control (textBox, comboBox etc), and in B1 it inserts the name of a Property that is always valid for the A1 control. I want to concatenate these two items to produce a formula in C1 that evaluates the current value of the Property on the running form and continues to update with each recalc. It's ok if I have to force a recalc to get the latest values.
The code feeding the items to A1 and B1 and which will be harvesting the Property values from C1 is running in the same Form that holds the controls being referenced.
So if A1= "Label1" and B1 = "BackColor", then in C1 I'd like the same result as if in VBA I said X = Label1.backcolor. I think that what I need is the Evaluate function, but I've read Arron's article on it I just can't seem to make it work here.

I have set up a rollover hyperlink so that when I hover over the cell it changes colour and creates a good effect. To do this I have another cell on the sheet that turns to 1 when the cell in question is hovered over.
I need a code so that when that cell displays the number 1. the object (which is rectangle 2) changes from white fill. to a picture I have saved on my desktop.
I cant quite figure out the coding and have been messing about with things like..

I am looking for a macro that will copy the text-based contents of a random cell in the range B100:B135 to a callout text box. The name of the callout is Autoshape 13. The callout should be cleared before pasting the contents of the next random cell into it. This macro will be assigned to a button.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe problem I am trying to solve is to have a cell return a cell value based on another linked cell. The cells I want to link are in separate tabs or could be another workbook.
For example if cell A5 in sheet2 is linked to A20 in sheet1...A5 has formula(=Sheet1!A20). I want the next cell B5 to look at A5 and return the value of cell Sheet1!D18.
So in essence I want the second cell to look at the first cell and return a value that is 3 columns over and 2 rows up.
I have several excel documents all linked to one unique excel document which I will call document A.
Document A is a performance spreadsheet where I have percentages, sales figures and times, for my sales team.
Each sales person has their own unique dashboard (another excel document) that I am currently trying to finalize.
Their personal dashboards have pie charts with text boxes. The text boxes within the charts link up to their relevant cells in document A.
When Document A is open and I open 1 of the sales person's dashboards. Everything looks good and works, however.
When I close document A the dashboard information changes. For example, the dashboard information could be showing 25% but when I close document A it reverts to 0.25
If I close down the dashboard and open document A back up, change it to 30% then close it. The dashboard recognizes the change BUT reads as 0.30. This is the same with them all.
The only fix I have figured out is creating another tab in Document A then duplicate of all the information required for the dashboards then save the cells as TEXT (as opposed to currency, percentage etc).
This kind of defeats the object because I have formulas set up in Document A and don't want to be doing twice the work.
I have to fill out two cells (lets say A10 and A11), with the same data taken from a list of given data. The given data is placed in one column.
I have created Combo Box where the ListFillRange is the given data area and in the LinkedCell I tried to write two cells but Excel doesn’t accept list of two cells.
For example, I tried to write in the LinkedCell A10,A11 and A10:A11 and A10;A11 but none of this syntax worked.
I can’t write A10 only in the LinkedCell and then to write a function A11=A10 in cell A11, because in some cases the content of cell A11 will be changed by another Combo Box linked to cell A11 and that Combo Box will override any function that will be written in A11.

I have several cells in my spreadsheet A which are linked to cells in another spreadsheet B in the same workbook. My problem is that the cells in spreadsheet A only display the link formula in the cell and not the value of the cell in spreadsheet B which it is linked. I have several other cells in spreadsheet A that are linked to cells in spreadsheet B and they display the values correctly.
