I have a spreadsheet which in the first column has dates for every day of the year(for many years), and figures in the second column. I want to extract the data relating only to the month end dates. What is the best way to go about this?
The month end date may also only be the last working day of the month rather than the actual month end date
I have a sheet with a date and the number of months on it which will change. I need the sheet to list the dates in a column for each month automatically: e.g. Two cells contain date “jan07” and the period “10” months. The rows A1 to A10 should have jan07…jan16 listed automatically. If I change then change the number of month to 11 I would like the rows A1 to A11 to update automatically.
I have a pivot table and and struggling to group these by month as well as to sort thee in escending order.
Pivot Table  ABC3Row LabelsSum of DebitSum of Credit 413/02/201334367.1822844.19513/03/201326475.492219.66613/08/201230307.613541.2713/09/2012 18898.0318065.4813/10/2012 7210.52913/11/201241969.041767.821013/12/201232844.7724041.26
I 've created a userform to search an excel database (that is populated by another userform) that contains a date field. This field is formatted as mmm/yyyy so I can search it by month. All was well until out of nothing my sub can't find specific months.
It finds the related data for january, march, june, july and november, but not any of the other months. In order to try and debug it I've used the exact same data in the other fields of the db changing only the date field to the desired month.
If I use excel's own Find, everything works as it should, the months are found just fine.
I have set up a 'week of' calendar for a year. This allows users to enter data in a cell for the week. For example, the today would be displayed on the calendar, the 11th.
What I would like is, in a separate tab, to list (in list format) only dates with data entered.
How can I write a formula that checks a cell, and displays the data, but if there is no data, it goes to the next cell (to the right). In the new tab, I would like the data to be listed top to bottom even though the calendar is left to right.
It would also be cool if in a separate column in the new tab to display the date, but im not sure how because the calendar isn't of actual dates, but of a few cells on the top with the month, and the actual number is in the cell.
Right now I have this as a start, but it's not much...
=IF(Category!C11>"",Category!C11,"")
I have attached an image of how the calendar is set up.
Is there a formula or code that returns the dates in the month in the current month before today? For example, today is 4th october 2006. so I would like it to return a column of values that include 1/10/2006, 2/10/2006, 3/10/2006, 4/10/2006.
I am trying to count dates from a list using sum product (I found the formula via google) I have plugged it into my spreadsheet but it does not seem to be calculating correctly.
I have attached the spreadsheet too : sumproduct_Error.xlsx
I have created a time sheet in excel (see attached) that will be part of the larger workbook that will be linked with other sheets to auto fill in most fields. I am wondering if there is a way for an user to enter a Month and a Year at the top of the page and that in turn automatically fills in the days of the month by week.
So in attached sheet there are 5 boxes representing 5 weeks in a month. So if we used May 2014 as an example I would like to know if there is a way that once May 2014 is entered in up to top that. Excel fills in the dates in Week #1 with under Thursday showing 1st, under Friday showing 2nd as on for the entire month...
So as the month go by all user has to do is state the month and year and excel fills in the weekly dates for each day in month.
... in A1 a year (say 2012) ... in A2 a month, formatting as "MMM" (JAN, FEB, MAR etc.)
How to automatically get in column A (say from A3) all the dates of the month entered, formatting as "D/M/YYYY" (e.g. 1/1/2012, 2/1/2012/ 3/1/2012, etc.)?
I have a range of dates from 2003 to 2012. I formatted them to the 'Mar-01' option, but when I want to pivot on the month, Excel still reads them as the date - example 3/25/2008, 3/28/2008...and so my pivot table has multiple columns for all of the dates present in that month.
How do I truly format my dates so that excel reads them as the month only so that I can then pivot and show 12 columns (months) per year?
I have some code that is importing data from a text file that contains ~35,000 line items and is ~50 columns wide (this part of the code is working fine).
Once the file has been imported, I need to copy certain line items to a sheet called “output”. The code would be something like this if reading line by line:
If the value in row x, column 5 (it is always in the 5th column) in “AccountList” then copy entire row and to next empty row in sheet(“output”)
The “AccountList” is separate sheet with a list of account numbers in column A with ~250 items.
I am not sure if the code to extract this data should occur while I am importing the data or if I should do it after and run through the data again.
I have data for the distances of cars journeys. I'm looking to extract the 1st journey distance for each date for each car. The car registration number is in column A.
This is an example:
Sheet1  ABCDEF1Reg number Date distance  1st Journey distance 210D1449904/01/20119.271  9.271310D1449904/01/201110.016  1.876410D1449905/01/20119.292   510D1449905/01/20119.629   610D1449906/01/20119.327   710D1449906/01/20113.185   810D1449906/01/201110.163   910D1555506/01/20111.876   1010D1555612/01/20119.534   1110D1555712/01/20111.48   1210D1555812/01/20115.628   1310D1555912/01/20115.356
Basically, I need to extract data from a grid/table (11 columns wide) and transpose it into a list for use in a pivot table. It like sort of reversing a pivot table to access the original data but I only need 5 of the columns repeated for each occurrence.
I have read many internet sources but they don't seems to fit my needs. Here is a solution from a similar question posted on StackOverflow entitled "How to “flatten” or “collapse” a 2D Excel table into 1D?"
The attached simplified mock-up explains what I am trying to do. I have colour coded the data to understand. The number of rows (10) will always be the same but the number of columns (Branches in this case) can extend for many columns.
This will get kind of complicated just a heads up.. I will try to take it in phases.... Without actually uploading my true sheet I will do my best to give a representation of what I'm trying to accomplish. Basically I will have Lists for the Year by Month. In each month the list will compile a list of problems and there corresponding data for each problem. Most of the problems will be internal, however some will be due to external (a supplier). When this occurs the suppliers name will be input into one of the columns. I want to beable to pull out the suppliers from each month and then sort them in order from top offenders to minor offenders by "QTY"
See the attached example sheet. That should give a better understanding of what I need to do.. I am not sure if this can be done with worksheet functions so I posted it under the Programming thread.
Im using XL 2k and working on several worksheets. Im trying to create a formula to do the following.
On Hardware Wksht Tab cell B20 should extract data from HardwareLIST Wksht if it matches to cell C20 from Hardware Wksht Tab. The cell in HardwareLIST A10 is a drop down list of hardware.
C20 Specifies 4 x 8 Only C21 Specifies 4 x 9 Only C22 Specifies 4 x 10 Only
However the drop list contains 3 different types of 4x8's, 4x9's & 4x10s. If selected then B20 should read drop list and match criteria & return the value from HardwareLIST D10. Im having trouble formulating this one.
This excel includes some text data, in each cell there is an email address along with additional text. I only want to get the email addresses from the entire data.
I want a table to display data based on which month i select from a drop-down list, the data is of course extracted from a different table. For example, in my final table( highlighted in yellow), i want to display the revenues, cost of goods sold..etc of April in this table when i choose April from the drop-down list, the data of the entire year is located in another table that i plan to hide, as we only need to review one month.
I have a date as 1/1/11 format in a date-formatted cell A1 for example. I want to extract the month in MM format, i.e. January, or "1" is extracted as "01", etc and just place it into A2.
So far, I've found an option to use format function in VBA and "MM", but I'm not familiar with VBA yet.
I have attached an example spreadsheet which should be relatively intuitive over me trying to explain it.
I am wanting to extract all CJ numbers with the corresponding dates from Sheet 1, into Sheet 2. It has to factor in, engineer name (as stated on sheet 2), the Month (as stated in sheet 2 "May") with the "Attended site" date in sheet 1....
If you see the worksheet it should give you the whole picture with a fair amount of clarity.
I need to extract a month from a field which looks to me like a date field, but as you can see in the file: Month(A1) returns 11/01/1900 instead of 06/11/2013.
I need another column, with just the month specified there based on above dates, so that I can manipulate the complete sheet further using a pivot. Some formatting issue isn't allowing me to use month() function, to derive the month of the date mentioned in the cell.
Using Auto-filter is too tedious, since I'd have to do it 12 times to cover each of the month. Tried recording a macro, but that too isn't supporting much, since it gets specific to cells and hence isn't re-usable in another sheet with similar data.
How can I automate the task of extracting just the month from the above column?
I wanted to determine the number of days between two dates. Specifically, if the initial date is in one month, and the second is in a different month and an output would result a number of days in each month until the final date. BUT I have a large amount of data to do this for in a list view, way to put a formula in excel and just drag down the entire list to get the required information. see below for an example.
The result I'm looking for is the separate the months and only show the relevant months between the two dates in one cell or the adjacent. Something similar to the table outlined below.
I have a value that has a whole number and a decimal. From this number I need to figure the Year and month. The worksheet has constant values from which this can be determined.
Hi Guys, This has been bugging me for a bit now and I just can't sus it...
I have a sample perpetual calender that I have been modifying to fit my own purpose. The calender part works fine.
I have beside that a column for holidays, etc and then a another column for other events.
When I put the date in the holiday or events columns I would like the date to be highlighted in the calender above (different colour depending on which column it came from).
The formula I have been playing with (no success) is:
=MATCH(DATE($R$2,1,C8),$I$41:$I$65,0) - This is the Formula for the 1st column of dates.
The 2nd formula is similar, just changes the column it tries to draw the MATCH(DATE.... from...
Although this formula works fine on the sample spreadsheet. When I enter the formula on my sheet, it doesn't seem to work...
I have attached the spread sheet that I am working on.
Basically I have 2 columns each with a list of dates in no particular order (and containing blank cells too), one planned date column and one actual date column.
What I need to do is plot this on a graph, and since the number of dates has no set limit and I dont want to have to plot maybe 100 dates on the x axis, so i want to group them by week before plotting them, i.e. 10 dates for week ending 10th jan, 25 dates for week ending 17th jan etc
I have a pivot table that counts how many of each date occurs, i.e. 10 x 2nd jan, 7x 3rd jan etc etc but it does not split them into weeks.
im sure theres an easyish way of doing it so i can get the 2 lines on the graph for no. of planned dates each week and no. of actual dates each week, i just cant see it.
