Highlight Matching String In Listbox Based On Textbox Value

Jun 26, 2014

I thought I would get this on my own, but I digress.

I received sample code to populate a listbox from tab names of a workbook, yay!

What I have attempted is to use a user form, enter a string in a textbox and if it match's any string in the list box, then highlight.

Basically, its a simple search engine.

Fill ListBox With TextBox Matches While Excluding Those Matching ComboBox Choice

Jul 11, 2009

I've created a macro that searches the active worksheet for a textboxvalue and copies all full and partial matches to a multicolumn listbox. However, I'd like to install some sort of filter that prevents registrations not containing the value in a combobox from making it into the listbox (so I'd actually like to search for registrations meeting two criteria, i.e. an advanced search). The macro I'm using is:

Private Sub Query_Change()

Dim vFound As Range
Dim strFirstAddress As String

On Error Goto ErrorHandle

Set vFound = Cells.Find(What:=Query.value, After:=Cells(1, 10), _
LookIn:=xlFormulas, LookAt:=xlPart, SearchOrder:=xlByRows, SearchDirection:=xlNext, _
MatchCase:=False, SearchFormat:=False)
If Not vFound Is Nothing Then
strFirstAddress = vFound.Address

I've attached the workbook I'm working on, in case I haven't made myself sufficiently clear in the above.

Highlight Non Matching Rows Based On Conditions

Aug 7, 2007

I am having a problem finding or creating a macro for what i am needing to do. I have a workbook with 2 worksheets (2 months july and august) to figure out a billing process.

I need to be able to First of all search each value in Column A on sheet 2 (august) to Column A on sheet1 (July).

My sheet is set up like this where ID is a buyer and Products 1,2,3...are if they have purchased that product from us

A B C D
1 ID Product_1 Product_2 Product_3
2 100 0 0 1
3 200 1 1 0
4 300 1 0 0
5 400 0 1 0

Better Picture representation attached

Both worksheets are very similar but August may have some changes from July such as new ID's and changed prduct purchases. What I need to do is have each ID in Column A be compared to Column A in the July sheet, but it may not always be the same cell (because of new ID's added they are moved around)..so it need to search for the same ID first then compare. Once it finds the ID, I then need it to compare the rest of the row (the product info) for that ID to see if any products were added or changed to determine billing. And for any changes that are found in the comparison, I need them to be highlighted.

Now in the case that a new ID was added...it wont be in the July sheet, so the whole row would need to be highlighted to notify of a new ID and new billing needs to be added.

This way the billing person can look at the sheet, see the highlited changes and see what is new or needs to be added to a previous ID's billing. Currnelty they are looking at it manually to see if there are changes.

Highlight Matching Cells Based On Manual Text?

Mar 9, 2013

I have a list of names in Column B (Starting at B5) with assignments to them in Column A. I want the people who receive the file, to enter their name in B1 exactly as it appears multiple times in sheet. And hope to use conditional formatting to highlight (change the back ground color) of each cell their name appears in.

I've used a number of formulas in the Conditional formatting including "=(ISNUMBER(MATCH($B5:$B100,$B$1,0)))", Countif's and "Not(isnumber)..." but can't find a formula that picks up the whole text.

Stop Highlight When Listbox Clicked

I have a multiple select listbox on sheet1 and I have changed the colour to match the rest of the report. The problem is that when the listbox is clicked the selection is highlighted but I have set the Liststyle to 1 so there is a checkbox which shows that the item has been clicked.

Is there a way to remove the highlight leaving only the ticked box?

Highlight 1st Listbox Item After Tab To Field

Jul 14, 2009

I have created a form, with a textbox and a listbox, that loads when the workbook opens.

As the listbox is the 2nd field on the form, I'd like for the 1st item in the listbox to be highlighted once the user tabs to this field from the textbox field, in the event that the 1st item is actually the item the user wants to select. Currently, once you tab to the listbox field, the listbox item has a dotted line around it (forgive my not knowing the correct term to use for this; I would guess the item has focus at this point, it's just not selected), but the item is not actually highlighted. If I use the arrow keys to scroll up or down, then the first item can ultimately actually be highlighted.

I've search this message board, but was unable to come up with a solution. I assume I must not have been using the best search terms.

Currently (a part of) the form's code is:

Dim txtbox_EmplName As String
Dim lbox_Div As String
form_TERdata.txtbox_EmplName.SetFocus

I'm certain this must be simple, but I haven't been able to find a solution. What code would I need to add or change, and where?

Select From Listbox & Highlight Corresponding Row In Worksheet

Dec 29, 2007

I have a userform that does search using Name. If there are multiple records found it displays a message "There are X instances of (value in name)" and shows a list box. When user selects Find All, the multicolumn listbox gets populated. Selecting a row in lisbox populates the corresponding values in the userform. Problem is that selecting a row in listbox fails to select the corresponding row in the worksheet. As a result, if i change the values in the textbox (say for eg. Phone) the changes are updated in the row selected on the worksheet but not on the required row! Pardon my innocense, I am very new to VBA. find the attached worksheet. This is not my work, I found it during research. Auto Merged Post;Sorry the previous file had error. find the updated worksheet.

Searching Listbox With Textbox

Sep 23, 2008

I am trying to write a code that will allow me to search a multiselect listbox. The listbox has 4 column. The first column is Manager's names. I want to search this column by typing the name in a textbox. The code I have will find the name, but the first record that matches appear at the bottom of the listbox. This is the code i copied from another website:

Private Sub TextBox1_Change()
'the change event runs each time the user
'types into a text box
Dim s As String
Dim i As Integer
s = TextBox1.Text
'Note the use of the ListIndex property of the ListBox
'If the ListIndex is -1 means nothing selected
'If 0 means the first item selected
ListBox1.ListIndex = -1
If TextBox1.Text = "" Then 'nothing typed
Exit Sub
End If
For i = 0 To ListBox1.ListCount - 1
'use the LIKE operator to compare
'convert both to Uppercase as well so case does not matter
If UCase(ListBox1.List(i)) Like UCase(s & "*") Then
ListBox1.ListIndex = i
Exit Sub
End If
Next

End Sub

Also I want to be able to copy the selected items in the fourth column to another worksheet.

Highlight Portion Of Text Of TextBox

Mar 27, 2008

The following code highlights part of the time (hours or minutes) that will be modified by a spin button. The code works fine (although maybe a more efficient way). Each time you click in the time it will highlight the hours or the minutes, depending on where you click. When you click on the spin button the control loses the focus so becomes un-highlighted. I thought that just setting the focus back to the text box would work but what I am getting now is it highlights on every other click of the spin button.

Private Sub spnTime_Change()
Dim dtTime As Date
Dim y As Integer
If strTimeChange = "" Then
MsgBox "Please click on a time to modify it"

Search In TextBox, Return In Listbox

Jan 10, 2008

I'm using a Textbox macro to search my database for a specific date, and return the company name of all entrys for that date, into a ListBox.

Now this is the only way I'm prepared to look at doing, and I have managed to do it...... partially - as stupid as it sounds, I cant get multiple results to list in the ListBox itself, and for the life in me I cant find out how to do it.

Also, once the options have been brought back into the ListBox, I then need code which will then populate further locked TextBox's which the rest of the company info, when selected from the ListBox.

I know its asking alot (or maybe not) but I believe, (unless ive done it a really awkward way, I'm not too far away, I just dont know the code to enter, to be able to do it.

Filling A Textbox After A Listbox Is Clicked

I'm having some trouble with the following. On a userform, I have 3 listboxes:

ListBox1Category

ListBox3Category

When I change the value of any one of the Listboxes, I would like to fill the corresponding TextBox. They're named:

TextBox1Amount
TextBox2Amount
TextBox3Amount

So, if I:

* change ListBox1Category, I want to have 20 (for example) in TextBox1Amount
* change ListBox2Category, I want to have 20 (for example) in TextBox2Amount
* change ListBox3Category, I want to have 20 (for example) in TextBox3Amount

So the numbers 1, 2, 3 should match. Does anyone know the code for this?

What my UserForm1 dose is to select the year column with the ComboBox and display in the ListBox the corresponding name from this year selection. Until there all work fine.

Now I have to display in the TextBoxes form the Userform2 all data form my (data sheet) and this dose not work properly.
