I want to write a macro that highlights duplicate values within a single column. I found - on this site a macro that removes duplicate values, which is huge, but sometimes I just need to highlight duplicates values rather than remove them.
In Column A, there are about 2000 plus entries, is there a simple formula to highlight the duplicate values in conditional format, so that the duplicate values stand coloured.
I need to highlight all the duplicate IP-addresses in my sheet except the first one.
What I did:
I chose the range (F column) -> Conditional formatting -> Highlight cell rules -> Duplicate Values. It highlighted all the duplicate values so i googled how to highlight the duplicate values except the first one so I came across a formula =COUNTIF($F$2:$F2, F2)>1
So I added the formula and now it does not highlight the first duplicate but only the second and not the third and fourth and so on.
What am I doing wrong?
Edit: I have sorted them in order and in one IP-address I have 6 duplicates but it highlights only the last one when I want it to highlight all of them except the first one.
I have a set template for 3 sheets. I copy/paste data into all three sheets within the template. Some data are repeated twice within the 3 sheets. How can I highlight the duplicate data between these sheets?
I have a large compilation of data on an excel work sheet (I am using 2013). All cells relate to each other by means of dates, names, and other numeric values such as stock numbers, id numbers etc... In one column some stock numbers are repeated. I would like to know if there is a way to set up the program on this worksheet to highlight all repeating stock numbers, not only in the column but across the cells as well, in lieu of doing so manually.
I would like to check column B and if any of these values match values in column J hightlight the cell on the same row as the match on column E green. I don't know much about excel but this would be a tremendous help because i'm looking through quite a bit of data. I've tried using conditional formatting and i can't seem to get that to work for my needs. Let me know if you need anymore information.
I have two columns that is use to record last name first name. I need a macro that will find matching names in the columns. i have found some examples for searching one column but have not had any luck finding someway to do 2 columns. in the example below i need it to find and highlight The names Smith John.
I am trying to set up a workbook for work that will highlight duplicates. I know how to use conditional formatting to do this, however, I would like each duplicate "set" to be a different color in order to better identify. The area that I need to search for duplicates is E3:E27. How can this be accomplished?
I have a spreadsheet with thousands rows of items on. I am trying to identify duplicate entries based on two or three cells within each row. If those two or three cells are duplicated for that particular ID then the duplicate entry (row) should be highlighted for deletion.
Better still it would be great if there was a macro or formula which would delete that duplicate row.
So for example on the spreadsheet I have attached, I would like rows 6 and 9 deleted or highlighted as the criteria for deletion is a duplication of the entry in the 'YEAR' column AND the 'VALUE' column for the REFERENCEs AB-1234 and AB-9876 which are the unique identifiers for each individual case.
This would leave the end result as per the table below on the attached spreadsheet.
find the attached Sheet, where some values are entered in column A with repeated action. What I need that through an excel function the repeated values should get red colour like in the Column C.
I have a column of data where duplicate records appear, can I get a macro to review the column and delete the duplicate record, I need the line item number to still show although the serial number has been deleted, please see example below-
line_number Serial_number 14FM12A1QWINC-1A 14FM12A1QWINC-1B 14FM12A1QWINC-1C 14FM12A1QWINC-1D 14FM12A1QWINC-1E 14FM12A1QWINC-1F 14FM12A1QWINC-1G 14FM12A1QWINC-1H 14FM12A1QWINC-1I 14FM12A1QWINC-1J 14FM12A1QWINC-1Jdelete serial number in column B, keep line number 1 in column A 24FM12A1QWINC-2A 24FM12A1QWINC-2B 24FM12A1QWINC-2C 24FM12A1QWINC-2D 24FM12A1QWINC-2E 24FM12A1QWINC-2Edelete serial number in column B, keep line number 2 in column A 34FM12A1QWINC-3A 34FM12A1QWINC-3Adelete serial number in column B, keep line number 3 in column A 44FM12A1QWINC-4A 44FM12A1QWINC-4Adelete serial number in column B, keep line number 4 in column A
I created a spreadsheet for use by the shipping department where I work. We are trying to prevent pulling and shipping the incorrect item to the customer. This is how it works. The employee downloads a CSV file containing items that have been purchased from our website and imports the file into the excel. Then the item is pulled and the employee scans the item's barcode into the spreadsheet named "SCAN." Formulas and code on the "reference" sheet look for the SKU number in the list from the CSV file while others create a consolidated list of SKUs that have been scanned, SKUs that have a problem and need to go to customer service, and SKUs from the CSV file that have yet to be scanned. Some of the formulas in this workbook have been borrowed from forums like this and altered to fit my needs - I'll admit I'm not even entirely sure how they work.
Occasionally a SKU is scanned in twice and not always sequentially which will effect the total item count. It can be very difficult to find the duplicates in the list.
I would like for any value that appears more than once in column B of the 'SCAN' sheet to be highlighted. I have tried to do this, but to no avail.
Scan Below FWD: CS? If FWD: CS, state reason below: Status NOT SCANNED FWD to CS SHIPPED
Horisontaly on the columns we have dates, day by day for a year +
For each day we chose from a drop down who is assigned to the action item. The problem is when there are 30-40 + projects and each have 20-30 lines of ation items it is hard to get the overview and avoid double entry. I would use conditional formating to do this, but firstly each project is separated by a line containing different formulas and I would not like the conditional formation to change these cells, and at the same time to put this up manually for each row would take a long time since there are 365 + rows.
how a VBA code could solve this little challenge? IT would also be beneficial to have it do the check upon cell change, that way we would not need to manually run the VBA to check.
In Column "C" there is a list of numbers ( these number realte to incidentsm and are called incident IDs) and I want to delete the rows that have duplicate incident IDs.
I need a macro or excel formula so that it will remove duplicate products- case sensitive(removing all duplicate prod using using excel, that i know.) i.e. it should not consider Blue BLUE as duplicate. only consider Blue Blue as duplicate.
So the macro should work same as data -> remove duplicate function already exists in excel, except it will be case sensitive..
I've got a column of client company names and because it is based from accounts, the companies names appear many times. I just need to populate a new column with unique names, so I have found a formula to do this:
However when I do this, I CtrlShiftEnter and drag to copy that down, and it's just a copy of the original list - client names are appearing on my new list multiple times. I don't see how this doesn't work... I'm using 2013.
What can I add to this existing formula to look for duplicate values in the entire column (D) and then concatenate the text of column (K) in each of those rows together?
Essentially I want to string all text in column K together, for each duplicate row of column D with the results in column L.
I have following code (see below) which finds the duplicates within columns, but I require copying and replacing duplicate values within different row cells, as I am currently finding this task hard to implement.
I've been looking for a solution to highlight all duplicates within a certain column across all worksheets in the workbook as the entry is made, no button to search for them. I have found bits and pieces, but can't seem to stitch them together to create what I am looking for, still very green with vba.
My workbook is a loading schedule at a warehouse, so there is a tab for each day (the date being the tab name, ex. '12.04.13'.) Tabs are continually added and removed to progress the calendar, and minimize file size. The column I am searching for duplicates in, is column L (or 12, however you wish to identify it.) If a duplicate value is entered, I want at the very least to highlight the value just entered, and the value elsewhere on the workbook, and if possible, have a msg box pop up stating the location of the other duplicate (or at least the tab (date) the duplicate is on.) The message box is more so for an in your face error check, with a built in GPS. Would it also be possible to only search from row 2 to 100, and ignore any further rows on each sheet?
The point of this, is to locate duplicates to make sure an appt has not been double booked, and both entries can be located to verify which entry has the correct information (carrier, delivery appt, etc.)
What i'm trying to do is i would like to compile in 1 column all duplicate values from multiple cells.
ex. A1 to 10 is numbered 1 to 10 respectively, B1 to B10 is numbered 6 to 15 respectively. which means in A1:B10 the duplicate values are 6,7,8,9,10. i could like these number to show automatically in C1 to C5.
I have a excel file which contains dublicate rows. The duplicate rows can be identified based on few cell/column values. I need a macro to delete the duplicate rows when the below condition is satisfied: let us consider row 5 and row 6:
If column 7,12,13,16,17,18,19,23,24,27,28,29,30 in row 5 = row 6 then row 6 has to be deleted. This condition has to be followed for all other rows in the excel used range. Have attached the sample workbook.
I want to do, is search column A for claim numbers that match. When I do have a matching claim number, I want to concatenate the original cells ownership field with the said matching cells ownership field (or move into a column in the same row, I can always concatenate later). Once that is complete, I want to delete the row I took the information out of.
I want to join this data in ArcGIS, but as of right now, it's not a 1-to-1 relationship, so only a relate works. That doesn't help me as I want to display claims by ownership, and this can vary per claim. Company A may have 100% on one claim, and then split another claim 50% with Company B.
This causes a double entry on the claim field in this current spreadsheet I have, which requires me to clean it up by making multiple columns of ownership vs. an additional row for shared ownership.
My problem:
Column A Column B 1235555 Company A (50%) 1235555 Company B (50%) 1235556 Company A (100%) 1235557 Company A (33%) 1235557 Company B (33%) 1235557 Company C (33%)
What I would like to see
Column A Column B Column C Column D 1235555 Company A (50%) Company B (50%) 1235556 Company A (100%) 1235557 Company A (33%) Company B (33%) Company C (33%)
I am able to quite easily count the number of specific values in a cell after the table has been filtered. However, the problem I have run into is that some times the data needs to be placed into the spreadsheet twice (or to be more specific the same subject is associated with several unique data points).
What I need: some way to count the instance of some give value in column D only once based on the presence of a duplicate (unique) identifier in column C. However, when I filter the entire database, it must count *only* the filtered cells and not the hidden cells as well.
Picture: Column C Column D 111111 M 111111 M 111111 M
[Code]....
Currently calculates: M=9, F=2
Right now it incorrectly states there are 9 "M" from column D when it really should be 5 since 3 are duplicate values. My main difficulty is making sure this continues to work after I filter the entire sheet (say column ZZ) and have a bunch of hidden cells.
Equation currently using to count only filtered values (in this case "males" and "females"): ="M = " & SUMPRODUCT(SUBTOTAL(3,OFFSET(D3:D13,ROW(D3:D13)-MIN(ROW(D3:D13)),,1))*(D3:D13="M"))
1 workbook, 2 worksheets (or tabs). On tab 1, I want a formula/alert that tells the user if any duplicate values exist in Column A of tab 2
Tab 2, Column A, has Unique ID's (6 digit numeric values)
The user manually inputs the ID's on new rows in Column A
Row 1 is reserved and in use for something else Row 2 is my header, so cell A2 says "ID" Row 3-623 currently contain unique ID's
When the user inputs a new ID into cell A624, then they return to Tab 1, I want my formula/alert on Tab 1 to tell the user that they have duplicates in Column A of tab 2. I know the Conditional Formatting, but if the user copies in 100 new values, they won't necessarily see the highlighted cells. My tab 1 is my "checks and balances" and the last place the user is suppposed to look to ensure that they haven't created any duplicate ID's. If the user sees a warning message that says duplicates exist, then I'll tell them that they need to look at column A (for cells that have been conditionally highlighted).
One issue that I'm running into with the conditional highlighting is that I want cells A3:A1048576 to already have the conditional formatting - this way when the user inserts a value into Cell A624, then A625, etc they conditional formatting is already there. Right now with data in cells A3:A623, cells A624:A1048576 are all highlighted with the Red/Bold Red Font (which is okay I guess), but ideally it would be nice to not count 2+ empty cells as duplicates and I'll have to have my formula on Tab 1 not include the blank cells.
I DO NOT want to use the Remove Duplicates feature of Excel 2010. If I remove them I could be removing data in columns B, C, D, etc that belong to the Unique ID. I just need the user to be told in Tab 1 that they DO have duplicates and I'll train the user how to research this and fix it.
The reason I want to look for duplicates in the entire Column A is because the list of Unique ID's will grow over time.
I have a worksheet that has 3 duplicate values in a particular column, I need a macros that will highlight two of the duplicates row and then another macro to delete the entire row. The duplicate element are in column R. find attached worksheet.
I am using the following macro to insert the word "Duplicate" in the first blank column next to a duplicate row. My data is sorted by the first column. Data Example:
12345 a 12345 a DUPLICATE 11111 b 23123 b
Here is the macro I am using and it does not work. It marks the first duplicate it finds then goes into an infinite loop. Any Idea where I went wrong?
Sub MarkDupes() x = ActiveCell.Row y = x + 1 Do While Cells(x, 1).Value <> "" Do While Cells(y, 1).Value <> "" If (Cells(x, 1).Value = Cells(y, 1).Value) Then Cells(y, 3).Formula = "Duplicate" Else y = y + 1 End If Loop x = x + 1 y = x + 1 Loop End Sub
I found this spreadsheet on here and I have been trying to customize it to what I need. I am trying to have scores from skins match highlighted. I want only the minimum score to be highlighted but if there is another duplicate minimum score I don't want it to highlight anything. I also need to find a way to count the skins won by each player and have it off to the side.
For those not familiar with golf a Skin is a game where you try to get the lowest amount of strokes on a specific hole. Ex- 4 people play the hole one. P1 scores 4, P2 gets a 3, P3 and P4 get 6. The skin would go to P2 who has the lowest score on that hole.
Highlight lowest number in each column not highlighting if there are duplicates starting at L6 down to L11 and for each column till AC. And the same for the group just to the right on attached file.
On row 13 and 14 it tells me who won a skin. I want to tally up the total skins won by each player. so if Joe's names shows up twice on R14 I want it to tell me somewhere in the sheet Joe = 2
I have 4 columns in my spreadsheet. I am trying to find any duplicates that may exist in Col A, sum values in Col D, then delete the entire row. So far my sheet before I run my vba code is this.
Col A 100 101 102 105 100 101 102 105
Col D 5 4 2 4 1 2 3 1
After my code is run, I need for my spreadsheet to look like this
Col A 100 101 102 105
Col D 6 6 5 5
I have some code but I still need to do a considerable amount of tweaking to it. Currently my code is only deleting the duplicate values in Col A. I am having difficulty summing the values in Col D as well as deleting the entire row.
Here is my code thus far....
------- Public Sub FindDuplicates() For RwCnt = 1 To (Worksheets(1).Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Row) SrchValue = Worksheets(1).Cells(RwCnt, 1).Value If Len(Trim(SrchValue)) > 0 Then With Worksheets(1).Range("a1:a" & Cells(65536, 1).End(xlUp).Row)
