I've created several buttons that link to macros that I have put in the first row of my sheet. I've freezed the panes so they won't move so you can see the buttons form wherever you are so you can use them. However, I'd like to describe what the buttons do somewhere so it's easy for users to use them...
I was thinking the easiest way to do this would be when you hover over the button it shows text in a a little pop up window...like if you hover over an image sometimes there is text that appears.
Is there VBA code that I can write to make that happen? How would I then tie it to a button? To create the buttons under developer I just did Insert, Form Control, Button...
I have a Listbox with multiple items (Multiselect property is on). However, due to the length of the items not all the parts of it is visible within the listbox.
Is there a way by which if a user hovers the mouse over an item in the ListBox (or selects an item), the whole item is visible (the way it is done in ControlTipText)
Is there any way I can activate a sub routine when the user passes the mouse cursor over an activeX object.
For example this activates code when the user interacts with an activeX scroll bar:
VB: Private Sub ScrollBar2_gotfocus() Dim A, B, C If OLEObjects("checkbox1").Object.Value = False Then B = Range("B4").Value A = (100 - B) / 2 C = (100 - B) / 2 End If
IS there a "gotfocus" equivalent such that code will run if the user simply passes their mouse cursor over the scroll bar EVEN IF they dont click it?
I created 5 charts and instead of having them spread everywhere in the worksheet, I would like them to be "reduced" to some kind of a link contained in a cell (at the botom of the data of each chart). Then, I would like the chart to appear only if I put the mouse on this cell.
In excel 2007, I have an embedded image on a sheet which I want to make it hidden by default. When someone hovers over a particular cell say cell B3, then image should be displayed below this cell (sort of hyperlinking) and when the cursor or activell cell is not in B3 it should be hidden again. What steps/technique/VBA code will make it happen ?
a button to run a macro but i don't like the standard plain grey buttons that excel offers. i saw a friend using one in his project but don't want to ask him how he did it as it would be considered copying. i will add an image to explain my specifications. there must be an easier way than having to design it and you vba to code the colour change.
I don't have any problem regrading the project but my Problem starts when i tried to make my tool more user friendly
i tried to put comments on conditional cells in form of images but i also want to put these Image POPUPS on buttone also what i desired is when ever mose arrow hover over a button a image pop should appear.
I have a User Form which i want to use in such a way that editing the worksheet directly is not disabled while the userform is running. I would also like to use the right button mouse menu(cut, cpy, paste) while i am using the user form. I am using two Monitors with my PC and i want to work with User Form on one monitor being able to edit worksheet without having to close my User Form.
I have a spread sheet were the area is getting very limited. I need to insert a small icon and when the mouse goes over (like it does in a form tool tip) will show the value of a cell (text value) located in another sheet in same workbook, or I was thinking inset a comment next to the icon and link the comments of the comments text to cell with the text value.

I've look the properties of this to objects and can figure it out.
I don't know if this is possible or not but I am looking for a way to hover over a cell and have an image appear. If this is not possible is there a way to add something like a comment on the cell but have it be an image not text? Currently I have the cell hyper-linked to the image but it would be nice if I did not need a whole other window to pop up.
I have a database that is growing and growing now obviously the more i put in it the bigger it gets
i have a cell that says something like "uk open welsh regional finals" now to cut this down i would like to just put "uowrf" and when i hover the cell or even click the cell it would tell me what them initials stood for
When you hold your mouse over a bubble on a bubble chart, it typically displays the x value, y value and size value. Is there any way to add other captions to display? For example, if my chart is based on sales data and I'm plotting a point based on ease of probability (x axis) and dollar value (y value)....I'd also like to see the initials of the salesperson assigned to that prospect when I hover over the bubble?
I have a spreadsheet where I can change the colour of a cell by clicking the mouse, I also have text in many of the cells.
What I need to do is protect (lock) the text so that no one can change the text in any of the cells, but I still want to be able to change the colour of the cells by clicking the mouse in that cell.
If the user selects French (radio button selection), I want to swap out the existing English text for French and vice versa. One large text box with several paragraphs. Can Excel do this?
Msg = "Enter a number" BOXTITLE = "Number" ANS = InputBox(Msg, BOXTITLE)
This generates 2 buttons. If i click the cancel button how would i direct the code to go to a certain line in my code. EG if cancel button clicked then goto 10
I have about 20 buttons on an excel worksheet. Is there a line of code that will tell me the text which was one was selected? The reason I am asking is because what is being passed into a module depends on what is selected. I know I can do a Case statement or if statements saying if this selected then this, if this selected then this, etc but was hoping for a one liner. This way it will be easy to maitain if other buttons are added as well.
Was thinking it is something like this but not sure how to say which button is selected. strButtonName = Selection.Text
Is there a way to change the text on a toggle button in the code below? Basically I would like for the toggle button to begin with the word "START" on it and then when clicked changed to the word "STOP". Of course then when the user clicks on "STOP" it changes back to "START".
Need coding of command button to output text based on the contents of combobox1 and combobox2. The text should be placed in the next available cell starting in cell b3 for combobox1 and starting in cell c3 for combobox2. Each time submit is clicked the name and number associated with that name should go in the next free cell in the spreadsheet.
So for example the user choses name1 and number6 cell b3 would read name1 and cell c3 would read number6 after submit is clicked. The user then choses name58 and number12 and presses submit again cell b4 would read name58 and cell c4 would read number12.
I have created an ActiveX command button and the text on the button looks crude. I know that is not very descriptive but I am unsure how to describe it. The text looks jagged and some letters are missing chunks of their letters. The font I have chosen is Calibri.
If I create a Form Controls button I do not have this problem but I want the button to have a particular background color so I do not believe I can use a Form Controls button.
I do not know why the other Calibri text on the worksheet looks fine while the ActiveX Calibri text does not. The attached image shows the two buttons with the top one being the ActiveX button while the bottom is a Forms button.
I have around 10 buttons in a sheet and all the buttons have same macro. I am trying to extract the text inside the button which I click (and not the name of the button). How to do it using vba?
I have used the following: buttontext =ActiveSheet.Shapes(Application.Caller).Text buttontext =ActiveSheet.Shapes(Application.Caller).Caption
PS: When I used buttontext =ActiveSheet.Shapes(Application.Caller).Name there was no error but it gave the name of the button not the text inside it.
I'm new to VBA & would like to use the MsgBox() function to display some of the data found in the information pop-up window when a user hovers the mouse over the undo button (e.g. Typing '=ABS(C3)' in C6).
I want to take this text to put it into something like this:
MsgBox("You just " & CODE_FOR_UNDO_TEXT & ".")
This will allow me to remind users of the last action they took.
