Apr 16, 2009If cell A1 is the same thing at cell B15 then I would like cell A1 to turn RED. Is there a way to do this?

How do I automatically have each independent row's background color change dependant upon the value selected in that row's drop-down cell box (and update color automatically if a different drop-down selection is made later)?

May 8, 2008I have a spreadsheet that I enter monthly expenditure on.
Column A is expenditure during 24th to 31st
Column D is expenditure during 1st to 8th
Column G is expenditure during 9th to 16th and
Column J is expenditure during 17th to 23rd
Ive been trying to colour the columns grey if todays date is outside the above date ranges each time I open the spreadsheet so its obvious which column my expenditure needs to be entered into.

Conditional Formatting :: Change Colors As Per Dates
Oct 23, 2009I’m sure conditional formatting is the way forward with this but can’t quite get the formula right. I need 2 columns: Column A will have dates that an event happened on. Column B will be blank until we have received back in a letter that went out on the date in column A. At which point the date the letter was received back in will be entered into column B
What I need is for the Colour of Column B to change from green (before and on the date of Column A) to Amber (for the next 3 days) and then red (from Day 5 onwards. This would be until a date was entered in column B (the date the letter is received back in) at which point it would just go back to white. This would keep a check on how long the letter was out for and whether we need to chase it up or not and with an increasing urgency.

Colors Doesn't Change Anymore After Screen Flicker Fix
Apr 17, 2009I attached 2 examples. The first one is before the screen flickering fix I got from Andy Pope. The second is when I added the fix. When you open Example List 1 and you enter 0 at E180, the screen will flicker, but it will change (red) Watching to (green) Planning to Watch in G180.
When you open Example List 2 and you enter 0 at E180, the screen doesn't flicker anymore. The status Watching in G180 still changes to Planning to Watch, but it stays red while it has to become green. How can I have the color changes and no screen flickering? Marco:

Feb 27, 2013I am trying to format certain cells to change colors depending on the date and the content of the next field to show due dates.

What I need is for the contents of au5 to be green up until 10 days before the due date, yellow up until 5 days, and red with less than 5 days until the due date. If the date completed is entered into be5, then the contents of au5 should be black.
Is this possible, and if it is, how do I set this up? I tried to use
=$AU5-TODAY()>=10
And choose green formatting (something I found on yahoo answers), but when I enter the date the text is still the original black font.

Excel Pallet Lost Colors (hovering Displays Colors But Visual Clues Are Not Shown)
Jul 7, 2013My pallet lost color-coding - if I hover over each little scare it displays the names for the colors and if I click on them they color the cells with the right colors, but the palette itself lost the visual display of colors except for 8 colors: black, blue, red, magenta, yellow, cyan, and white.
I use color-coding of cells a lot and I find it difficult to work without visual clues. At least the hover-support allows me to get the work done, but with difficulty.

That text will match a single value in a reference list (i.e. range of cells e.g. Z1:Z26).
When the match occurs (e.g. A1 = Z16), I want the format of the reference cell (fill color, text color) to apply to the cell of interest (A1).
The reference cells are manually formatted.
I know that I could create a long list of conditional format formulas instead of using the reference, but it seems that there must be some way to tell excel: if the cell value contents are equivalent, the formatting should be as well.
Bank Reconciliation - Many To One Matching And Partial Cell Matching
Nov 19, 2009programming 2 macros in a bank reconciliation sheet I am trying to create.
Basically the data consists of two sets: the ledger side and bank side. Both sides consists of multiple columns that include date, description and amount.
The following two situations can occur and which need to be covered with a macro.
Many to one matching
When we make payments to say 100 different suppliers at once, the ledger side will show 100 lines with the different amounts. However on the bank side it will only show one line with a total amount for the transaction. As the description on the ledger side is the same for all transactions done at the same time, it should be possible to have a macro add these lines and compare the total with entries on the bank side. Once a matching amount has been found, the macro should place an ‘x’ next to all entries on the ledger and bank side, in order to show that these transactions have been reconciled.
Partial cell matching
In this case we are only dealing with one line on both the ledger and bank side. The issue is that the description does not always perfectly match with one another. The ledger side might say ‘Brown Corp.’ and the bank side might say ‘Brown Corporation’. I want to come up with a macro that can recognize this partial match and still reconcile the lines by placing a ‘x’ to both the ledger and bank entry. The match however should be done with a combination of description, date and amount as several different bookings might be done for the same supplier in the same month.

Oct 15, 2008I am in the process of reformatting an excel workbook to act as a review tool for different factors in a process. Part of my redesign includes the use of coding that creates different cell colors based upon the cell contents. The new workbooks will be used to handle existing data for this year. I have developed a process macro to open an existing workbook and copy and transfer the original data worksheet into the newly formatted workbook. The data gets transferred to the new worksheet and the resulting workbook is renamed and saved, Heres'' the rub... the newly saved workbook is missing all of the coding for the worksheets... apparently this is a MS bug.
Has anyone figured a workaround for this. One thought I had is to open both( new and old )workbooks and rather than move/copy , i would transfer the data using cell references.
Changing Cell Colors

The color grey I need is white, background 1, darker 25% in the autofill field in excel. I have search other forums they all lead to changing the code, I did this already. just copy pasted a code I found but all cells were selected to change a bright green.

Changing Cell Colors With Vba
Mar 17, 2007I'm trying to have change if the date on it is passed "now()". I am already using the 3 conditional formatting fields and need this one and another one. Here are 2 problems I seem to be having.
First - the code below only works if I change the date on the cell. I want code to either work with Worksheet Active or any other way so the user does not have to redo the date’s everyday.
Second - a record might have conditional formatting already. Is it possible for the target cell in this code can show this color while the rest of the row shows the color of the conditional formatting?
