How To Combine Columns D-Y In Column Z Seperated By Numbers
May 27, 2009
How can i merge all the columns from Column D to Column Y in Column Z. The seperator between the Columncontents should be numbers in format "<<1>>" for column D, "<<2>>" for column E,"<<2>>" for column F........
i have a wordlist(arabic from right to left lanuage) containing words and meanings. Column A contains Words, Colulmn B contains Transcription, Column C contains Grammer information and the following Columns up to Column Y contain of Meanings.
!!!The meanings start with Column D which is then followed by E,F,G... Y. If any column cell is empty then it would mean, that the following cells of corresponding columns are also empty. For example if Colulmn D has content but Column E not, then it means that F,G,H...Y are also empty!

Example:
Original:
Column A | Column B
Joe | Client A
Joe | Client B
Paul | Client X
Sue | Client A
Sue | Client X
Want:
Column C | Column D
Joe | Client A, Client B
Paul | Client X
Sue | Client A, Client X
I believe it would be very similar to the code that I was provided inCombine Multiple Related Rows Into One. I tried to adapt it to my current need, but was unsuccessful due to my very limited knowledge of vba.

CELL A1 includes the following sequence of numbers: 1,2,1,0,2,3
I would like to know how to put a formula/function into CELL B1 that sums up the sequence of numbers in CELL A1 (i.e 1+2+1+0+2+3)

I found code on this site after searching a long time that has worked well in a larger macro I'm writing for use in Excel 2003 usage. However, I'm stumped on how to achieve the following on the attached sample: find and remove the number in A2 from the list in E2 then count the individual numbers seperated by commas in E2 and post the results in G2 Repeat the same sequence for C2, D2 and F2

I have 2 columns "H" and "I" from line 6 to 409. Each cell may start with AR , MA or a number. If cell H6 starts with AR I would like to put that cell into B6. If H6 does not have AR then I would like to check I6 for AR, and put that into B6 if it's found. If I don't find AR in either I would check them both for MA, and write the cell that finds MA into B6. If the AR or MA are not found then I would want it left blank. I did try
IF(FIND("AR",$H7,1),$H7,IF(FIND("AR",$I7,1),$I7,IF(FIND("MA",$H7,1),$H7,IF(FIND("MA",$I7,1),$I7," ")))) in B7.

I need two solutions, if possible. One macro and then a "poor man's way" in case the macro breaks down the road. something where I can do it with copy/paste, formulas etc.
I will just use letters and numbers to make it easer.........
Column A might have 10 rows, with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, and 10 as the data.
Column B might have 7 rows with A,B,C,D,E,F and G as the data.
I need column C to have 70 rows, with 1A, 1B, 1C, etc. .......through 9E, 9F through 9G as the data.

I'm trying to combine multiple columns into 1 column in Excel. I've searched a few places but most of them are tailored for a specific sheet and my VBA skills are elementary
My table looks like this (there could be more than 5 columns... it's somewhat dynamic based on the data given). Note that some columns could have no data, and the size may be different, some have 100 rows of data, while others have 5.
Firm A
Firm B
Firm C
Firm D
Firm E
[Code]...
I want to combine these columns into
Consolidated
A
B
B
C
D
E
[Code]...
Is it possible to do this with an Excel formula? If not, a VBA code

Sample file attached. How do I combine the data in columns B-E into column A? Obviously in my sample file you'd use a simple cut/paste but my actual file has hundreds of columns and rows so cut/paste isn't an option. I need to move all the data into column A.

I'm working with a dataset from a survey that has recently taken place. The original structure of certain questions in the survey were multiple choice. The ideal structure for these questions, in terms of variables, is that each possible option for the question (A,B,C,D... etc) have a separate value, with a 1 for yes (reported) and 0 for no (not reported). In other words, if Question1 has multiple possible answers (A,B,C...), then there should not be one variable created from this question, but rather, there should be a variable for each possible response: Question1_A, Question1_B, Question1_C, and so on. And within each of these variables, should be a 1 or 0 depending on if that option was reported or not.
The format I received the data in, though, was a single variable with a list of letters, (e.g. B,D,F) for each option reported.
Variable: Question1
Row 1 A, B, C
Row 2 B, E, F
Row 3 B, D, E
The data I have right now is housed in Excel prior to exporting to SPSS and/or STATA. I need to find a way to distribute these values into separate columns (variables). The tricky part, is that if I simply use "text to columns", it distributes the letters to new columns, but doesn't take into account that the first value reported might not be A. Is there a way to take the list of values in the single columns, and distribute them to assigned newly created columns?

I have to create lists of data in the following format:
123121321,12321215,121351213 (numbers with , with no spaces)
These numbers are sent to me in excel in columns and I need to convert the columns into rows using the format above.
The formula I have been given:
=INDIRECT(ADDRESS(((ROW()-1)*10)+2,1,1,TRUE,"SSOs")) & "," & INDIRECT(ADDRESS(((ROW()-1)*10)+3,1,1,TRUE,"SSOs")) & "," & INDIRECT(ADDRESS(((ROW()-1)*10)+4,1,1,TRUE,"SSOs")) & "," & INDIRECT(ADDRESS(((ROW()-1)*10)+5,1,1,TRUE,"SSOs")) & "," & INDIRECT(ADDRESS(((ROW()-1)*10)+6,1,1,TRUE,"SSOs")) & "," & INDIRECT(ADDRESS(((ROW()-1)*10)+7,1,1,TRUE,"SSOs")) & "," & INDIRECT(ADDRESS(((ROW()-1)*10)+8,1,1,TRUE,"SSOs")) & "," & INDIRECT(ADDRESS(((ROW()-1)*10)+9,1,1,TRUE,"SSOs")) & "," & INDIRECT(ADDRESS(((ROW()-1)*10)+10,1,1,TRUE,"SSOs")) & "," &
INDIRECT(ADDRESS(((ROW()-1)*10)+11,1,1,TRUE,"SSOs"))
currently I only get 10 numbers per row
I need at times for up to 500 numbers to be listed on a row. However even when I try to extend the formula it still only gives me 10 numbers per row and breaks up the 500 numbers to 10 per row.
Is there another way to combine up to 500 numbers in one row?

I have some data that is both text and numbers in the same cell. I would like to split the the data so that the text is in one column and the numbers are in another column.
The numbers are all a fixed length (15 chars) so I know that I can use the following formula = RIGHT(A1,15)
However I am not quite sure how to split the text as the length can vary as as well as the number of words in the string.
For example A1 is 1 word with 7 characters but A2 is 2 words, 14 characters long inc space.
A1 Goodwin 000710280740120
A2 Gillette Ridge 000715058510122
B1 Goodwin
C1 000710280740120
B2 Gillette Ridge
C2 000715058510122

I think I need a macro to do this. Can I use vlookup function for a range of number? lets say I have number 1001 to 1005. i want to combine the result. any other way other than using this formula
=vlookup(1001,table,2,false)+vlookup(1002,table,2,false)+vlookup(1003,table,2,false)+vlookup(1004,ta ble,2,false)+vlookup(1005,table,2,false)
Is there possibility to define a function that works like say =clookup(numlow,numhigh,table,2,false)?

I need a process to combine a set of numbers that have a range of 1 to 48. The set can vary. I need all possible combinations. Example:
out of the range 1 to 48, the set of numbers are (6,11,15,21,22,27,33,34,47). The numbers need to be combined into all possible combinations of subsets of 6 numbers. The criteria for combination is does not include sequencing. In other words the numbers only need to combined into 6 number sets that are in any sequence.

Essentially need a macro to combine the columns into 1 column.
Need a Macro to put everything in each "box" into one column, for example CU is the end of the first box, CV to GP is the second box ect. Essentially a box is the row where the yellow line is to the column where the yellow column is.
The problem is the setup of these colums change, sometimes they are bigger sometimes smaller and the spaces beneth it change. Sometimes I might have a column which goes to row 18 followed by 3 blank rows then the yellow box
I first design the first colum then select that and drag across to complete the rest ( my real file has links ect )
So I need a macro in which it can scan the first column up to the yellow line then put everthing within a "box " into 1 column, each )
then repeat the same process for other boxes with each box being put in its own column ( preferablly leaving an empty column in between )
THe file itself will help clarify any problem, if this request is not possible if it could combine every column into 1 column ( along with the spaces to the yellow line ) that would help also, i could manually cut each box into another column then.

I am using Excel 2003 and trying to create a formula that will combine comma delimited numbers from two or three cells in the same row and output them to another cell in the same row as comma delimited numbers, sorted with duplicates removed.
So the data is something like this ...
Cell A1 ... 1,5,8,19
Cell B1 ... 4,26,1,8,8501
Cell C1 ... 1,6,1301,12
I would like to consolidate these into cell D1, sorted and distinct ...
Cell D1 ... 1,4,5,6,8,12,19,26,1301,8501
