Combine Two Columns And Rows Into One Column

Jan 23, 2014

I need two solutions, if possible. One macro and then a "poor man's way" in case the macro breaks down the road. something where I can do it with copy/paste, formulas etc.

I will just use letters and numbers to make it easer.........

Column A might have 10 rows, with 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, and 10 as the data.
Column B might have 7 rows with A,B,C,D,E,F and G as the data.

I need column C to have 70 rows, with 1A, 1B, 1C, etc. .......through 9E, 9F through 9G as the data.

Combine Multiple Rows To One Row With Blanks In Some Reference Columns

Jun 4, 2014

combining multiple rows of related data into one row but have not seen one that matches my situation. My experience level with excel only includes some basics like vlookup, match and recorded macros, although I have used vba code for a macro that met my needs. I have a parts list for a PCB that has many different parts. Some of the parts are used multiple times across different reference designations("Reference" column in the file). I have shown a desired format and the original format below. Since the item number has blanks across the reference designators I haven't found a solution that would work for me.

Desired output:
Item
Quantity

Combine 2 Columns With 3 Choices Into 1 Column?

Feb 18, 2014

I have 2 columns "H" and "I" from line 6 to 409. Each cell may start with AR , MA or a number. If cell H6 starts with AR I would like to put that cell into B6. If H6 does not have AR then I would like to check I6 for AR, and put that into B6 if it's found. If I don't find AR in either I would check them both for MA, and write the cell that finds MA into B6. If the AR or MA are not found then I would want it left blank. I did try

IF(FIND("AR",$H7,1),$H7,IF(FIND("AR",$I7,1),$I7,IF(FIND("MA",$H7,1),$H7,IF(FIND("MA",$I7,1),$I7," ")))) in B7.

Combine Multiple Columns Into 1 Column

Feb 3, 2014

I'm trying to combine multiple columns into 1 column in Excel. I've searched a few places but most of them are tailored for a specific sheet and my VBA skills are elementary

My table looks like this (there could be more than 5 columns... it's somewhat dynamic based on the data given). Note that some columns could have no data, and the size may be different, some have 100 rows of data, while others have 5.

Firm A
Firm B
Firm C
Firm D
Firm E

[Code]...

I want to combine these columns into

Consolidated

A
B
B
C
D
E

Is it possible to do this with an Excel formula? If not, a VBA code

Combine Rows Within Column Ref Another Column

Sep 11, 2008

I've got a good-sized single sheet workbook (A1:I8851) that I need a fairly complicated (seems like it to me, anyway) macro to get data in line from column to column. Here's what I've got:

Column A is titled "Category", and Column D is "Description". The actual category listings are in merged cells, spanning anywhere from 5-12 rows. Column D has no merged cells, but many (not all) cells in D contain data carried over from the cell above it (instead of wrapping the text, for some reason it just inserted into a new cell). The number of merged cells in A is equal to the number of unmerged cells in D.

I need a macro to combine each of the multiple rows in D into one single row, stopping and starting over when it reaches the next Category row. That way each category will have a single description line without incorporating parts of the description from the category above or below it.

Transposing Multiple Rows And Columns To One Column

Jul 27, 2013

I have a spreadsheet that calculates data in multiple columns (A:AN) and each column has 27 rows of data called "Sheet 1". As it stands, the spreadsheet goes out very far. On "Sheet 2" I would like for all of the data in "Sheet 1", columns A:AN to be "transposed" to "Sheet 2" in column A only. So, column A on "Sheet 2" would have the data from "Sheet 1" A1:A27, B1:B27, C1:C27, so on and so forth. I would like for the formatting to maintain the same order as well.

An example would be:

Sheet 1
Column A B
Row
1 Green Red
2 Blue Yellow
3 Black Cyan
4 Pink Magenta

VBA To Add One Column By All Values Of Adjacent 8 Columns And Three Rows Each

Mar 14, 2014

I have three rows of data (29-31) from columns D to Q.

I would like to take D29 and add each of the values in the adjacent columns exactly once and sum up the value D thru Q

For example I'd like to return not just Sum(D29:Q29) but also Sum(D29:R29)+Q30, Sum (D29:R29) +Q31.

Macro that would add these values?

That is D29 + E29 or E 30 or E31 + F 29 or F 30 or F 31 + G 29 or G 30 or G 31... and on?

Even though I wrote "or" above, i would need the other values to be added in a separate calculation, until all possible permutations of D and the following 8 columns and 3 rows of data are exhausted.

Get All Unique Combinations From 6 Columns (multiple Rows) Into 7th Column

Jul 2, 2014

I have a table with 6 columns (A to F) and multiple rows each, with cells containing words. Taking the words in any one cell from each of the columns in order from A to F will form a complete sentence each time. I need a solution to display all unique possible combinations in column G.

The number of rows is different for each column. A successful result in column G has to include cells from all columns (A to F).

I searched this forum and found a few analogous questions/solutions, but nothing close enough for me to apply to my case. I tried using a concatenation formula, but I have to manually edit the formula in each cell to get all unique combinations (and that would mean thousands of times). If I just drag the formula down it will increment all cell rows instead of one cell's row at a time.

Here's an example : all possible unique combinations.jpg

Convert Multiple Rows To Columns And Add Column Headers

Oct 17, 2009

I'm currently faced with a spreadsheet that has data formatted like this:
A
1 RandomRowofData1
2 RandomRowofData2
3 RandomRowofData3
4 RandomRowofData4
5 RandomRowofData5
6 RandomRowofData6
7 RandomRowofData7
8 RandomRowofData8
9 RandomRowofData9

Every 9 rows, a new "set" of data repeats itself (wow, this is so hard to put into words)....

I need to figure out a way to get the data in column "A", every 9 rows, to transpose itself into 9 separate columns.

Transpose Column To Rows - Referencing Columns By Number

Jun 19, 2012

I'm trying to create a macro that transposes data from columns to rows.

My source data is laid out so Column A and B contain item identifiers, and then the header for Column C to Column S contain dates (March, April, May, etc) and the row data below contains quantities for each month. This is on Sheet1.

I need my end data (on Sheet2) to have the item detail in Column A and B, the quantity in Column C and the Date in Column D. If there is a date that has no quantity then it should be skipped.

Sample Source Data (Pipes added for clarity, they aren't in the actual data)

Part |Description |June 4 |June 11 |June 18
A | PartA | 5 | | 12
(Please note June 11 has no quantity)

Sample Destination Data:

A | Part A | 5 | June 4
A | Part A | 12| June 18

Below is the start of the code, obviously I have a ways to go before it's fully functional but hopefully you get the idea how I'm trying to attempt this. Where I'm having issues right now is referencing columns by number. Is there a way to do this so I can do Column = Column + 1 to advance columns to the right? Or any better way to address this all together?

HTML Code:
Sub ConvertToRows()
Dim ReviewRow, ReviewRowEnd, PasteRow, ColumnNumber As Integer
ReviewRow = 2

[Code]....

Split Single Column Into Multiple Columns And Rows

Aug 20, 2008

I have 300 rows worth of data that looks similar to this, all organized in one column:

John Q. Smith
Programmer
2111 NW 13th St
Anywhereville, USA, 55555
(555) 555-5555
Joe P. Snider
Organizer
5645 NW 45th St
Anywhereville, USA, 55555
(555) 555-5555
Patty Williams
Accountant
6454 NW 34th St
Anywhereville, USA, 55555
(555) 555-5555

As you can see it is consistent with the name, position, address line 1, address line 2, Phone number, for every single entry. All my names are already alphabetized so I don't have to worry about it. What I want to do is have the information for each entry translated into 5 separate columns so it looks like this.

John Q. Smith Programmer 2111 NW 13th St Anywhereville, USA, 55555 (555) 555-5555
Joe P. Small Organizer 5645 NW 45th St Anywhereville, USA, 55555 (555) 555-5555
Patty Williams Accountant 6454 NW 34th St Anywhereville, USA, 55555 (555) 555-5555

Supposing I started the sheet in the top left corner at A1, I was just going to have cell B1=A1 then Cell B2=A6 then just autofill down column B but it doesn't work. I have seen some people do something similar to what I want with VBA but I am convinced there has to be something simple in with an excel formula seeing as my information is already so organized and consistent.

Combine Many Columns To One

Nov 17, 2009

Essentially need a macro to combine the columns into 1 column.

Need a Macro to put everything in each "box" into one column, for example CU is the end of the first box, CV to GP is the second box ect. Essentially a box is the row where the yellow line is to the column where the yellow column is.

The problem is the setup of these colums change, sometimes they are bigger sometimes smaller and the spaces beneth it change. Sometimes I might have a column which goes to row 18 followed by 3 blank rows then the yellow box

I first design the first colum then select that and drag across to complete the rest ( my real file has links ect )

So I need a macro in which it can scan the first column up to the yellow line then put everthing within a "box " into 1 column, each )

then repeat the same process for other boxes with each box being put in its own column ( preferablly leaving an empty column in between )

THe file itself will help clarify any problem, if this request is not possible if it could combine every column into 1 column ( along with the spaces to the yellow line ) that would help also, i could manually cut each box into another column then.
