How To Create Mixed Line / Bar Graph With One Data Point
Jan 6, 2012
Ok, so here's the trick:
I know how to create combo or mixed graphs with line/bars on single axis, and secondary axis. I even know how to do mixed stacked and unstacked columnar charts...
But how do you depict in single view graph
a single bar (1 datapoint) with a single line (upper control limit e.g. target).?
And I don't want to to use shapes to draw the target line.
I want the target line to be automatically plotted by Excel...
how to get a line in a graph to become a curved line between 2 data points in 10 point chart. I the pictuer attached I am trying to get the line to curve at the second data point 5(ms) and the third data point at 80(ms). The aftr 80 the line become staright again.[IMG][/IMG]
I am trying to create a line graph that will incorporate multiple columns of data in one series of data. The reason I do not place all of the data in one column is because it could exceed the maximum amount of rows allowed in excel. Also I need the data split up for viewing purposes.
I can easily just graph one column but how do I combine all the columns into one line graph with the data being in separate columns. Basically all the columns will be my Y values and X values are just 1:n.
Example Below:
Column AColumn B Column C159261037114812
Now in the example all of the values are x values.
I tried to modify the above code, so it will refer undefined/dynamic data column, but getting an error during execution "Run Time Error - 424:" "Object required"
I want to use a line graph to display an amount over time - that's the easy part. On the other hand, I would like to have to group the lines based on a value.
A short example: Imagine you own 3 different stores and you're selling oranges. So your table looks like this: http://img179.imageshack.us/my.php?image=orangeshm4.jpg
Now I'd like to have one graph (3 different graphs won't work as the rows increase -I need to select the whole column as data source):
Date on the x axis, Oranges sold on the y axis, and one line per store (e.g. a green one for store A, a red one for B and a blue one of C, doesn't matter).
Showed a line chart using 2 vertical axis where the first was a single line along the graph (ie. 42%) then the second data series was a single data point that was above or below the line which easily showed if the result lied above or below the threshold.
How to get a straight line across the body of the just to be used as the theshold line?
I am reporting on the amount of certificates issued over a period of time. Basically the government stopped released data on the amount of one type of certificate being issued during this period and started releasing data on another type. I am having trouble displaying this other data which starts around half way into the time period. So all the data starts in June 2010... but this other data starts in June 2012.
I want to generate a letter to parents that shares reading fluency data from an excel spreadsheet into a table and a chart. I got the info to post into cells in the table through mail merge. (sample below) Now I want to make a matching line chart to visually show the student's growth over time. I want the data on the chart to change according to the data I put in the cells in the table through mail merge. Is this possible? The data in the cell that says "Cory" and the "88, 100, 112" are placed in this table through mail merge. I want to now be able to take just Cory's information and display it as a line graph. If I highlight those cells and choose "insert a table" it doesn't work.
I am looking for a creative way to display a pie chart within a data point marker of a line chart.
My database has 3 value columns, Type1, Type2 and the Total (Type1 + Type2) these are recorded per day (Date, in Column A)
I have a line chart that displays the total by date, but I want to find a way to display the percentage split of a particular day by type.
I was thinking to load the chart image into the Data point marker, but i don't think that is the best way as the data is updated daily and I would have to do it each day for a few line charts.
The other way I was thinking about was to have a generic Pie chat in the Line chart (Maybe in a corner) and the pie would update depending on way date series was selected or Mouseover'd)
the way that I am approaching it at the movement (Not the best way and by far not the coolest way. Is to have a list of all the dates in a column next to the Line chart and using some VBA, what ever date is selected in the column the pie chart displays the corresponding data. But eh challenge is that when there is alot of dates, I am going to be scrolling up and down.
I am using Excel 2010, but I cant not use the slicer's as the other users do not have 2010, they have 2007.
I am supposed to make an xy scatter graph like the one drawn of paper. The average point need to have a "cross" around it. So far I can just plot the points. I have added the average point as secondary series. I just need to put the "+ sign or cross around" it.
I want to insert a text box into a line graph. I want the box locked onto a data point in this graph. The problem I am having is the graph is updated daily with more data so the point moves so I have to drag the box daily. Is there a way to fix this so it works automatically?
finding a function/formula for determining the breaking point (Yvalue) in a graph, that doesn't necessarely equals the maximum value of that curve!
So the curve in the sample is a stress strain curve (tensile test) of a fibre and at the end it breaks and the Y value returns to 0. I would like to determine that Y value before it is 0, so the last Y value before it returns to zero.
I thought of a formula like: display last y value before it drops with 90%... but I don't have a clue how to write it in maths...
I am trying to use a macro to copy a set of cells.
I have successfuly created a macro - the problem is I would like the column reference to be absolute but the row reference to be relative. I can have one or the other but not mixed it seems.
If I have not explained myself well, perhaps this may help - I need to copy cells $J1:$S1 and paste them to $L1:$U1
Currently the macros works if the cursor is in cell J1 when I activate the macro but if I move the cursor to any other cell it copies and pastes the wrong set of cells.
I have put my values into a XY scatter graph but need to find the maximum point i.e when the gradient is zero. I am using visual basic to obtain my data and draw my graph.
i have created a xlColumnStacked chart using VBA in excel 2000. i would like to place a line in the center of one of the Points(). How can i locate a specific point, for example Points(1), so what i can then "draw" a line in the center
I have used sumif statement to set up a value by week and then used the drop down list cell reference to display what i want ie week 25 data
What I would like is to display the 8 previous weeks and then use this in a graph, so every time i change the drop down week I see all the data showing the current week and previous weeks.
Now the problem is which formula do i use to to identify previous weeks
I want to do is use a userform to automatically create a graph from the data that is shown in the worksheet. The data in the work sheet will grow and shrink all the time. Am i right in thinking I am meant to create a dynamic range? I know how to do it but am not too sure what I am meant to be naming. And secondly I am not too sure how I set up the button to produce the graph.
My basic problem is I compile a newsletter for my company. Many people write me E-mails and i paste their "daily accomplishments" into a template. My question is if there is an easy way to insert bullets at the beginning of each line inside the cell. My company wants it prepared with a certain type. I am attaching a sample.
I have XYZ Coordinates for a continuous 3-D line that has numerous segments. I want to input a distance along that line, and have it create the XYZ coordinates at that point. See Image for reference.
Row 2 is my start point - I input the initial coordinates here - this point is the origin of the 3-D line Column B is where I want the calculated Y value to go for each point Column C is where I want the calculated X value to go Column D is where I want the calculated Z Value to go Column E is the how far along the 3-D line that the (to be calculated) point should be at. (MD1) Columns G, H, & I are given to me, and I use this data to generate the coordinates in Columns J, K, & L Column O is the cumulative length of the line at that coordinate. (MD2)
Basically, I had planned on writing a formula to:
Find the coordinates of the point who's MD2 (column O) is before the desired point's MD1 (column E)Find the coordinates of the point who's MD2 (column O) is after the desired point's MD1 (column E)Subtract MD's (column O) to get the length of the segmentFind the distance along that segment that MD1 (column E) fallsUse that distance to traverse along that line to the desired point.
Is there any possible to add a series to a graph table without having the line in the Graph. i just want to show the difference for information and not in the graph?
i have tried some different things (like having the difference in white so it is not visible, formatting the Axis etc)
I am trying to recreate the screen grab that I have copied and pasted in (purple bar chart). I am to create the bar chart, but I am unsure how to create the dotted line which is the national average.
I have created some charts for my work and one of them is a line chart that spreads across one year with values for each month. Well they want the graph to always show one month ahead of where we are out. So there is actuals in for Sep. but then the line graph drops all the way to 0 for Oct. I don't want to have the graph bottom out when there is a zero. Does anyone know how to fix this?
