Userform To Automatically Create A Graph From The Data That Is Shown In The Worksheet
Jul 4, 2006
I want to do is use a userform to automatically create a graph from the data that is shown in the worksheet. The data in the work sheet will grow and shrink all the time. Am i right in thinking I am meant to create a dynamic range? I know how to do it but am not too sure what I am meant to be naming. And secondly I am not too sure how I set up the button to produce the graph.
My data is in colunm set #1. I want to create from the data set in column set 1 the data set shown in colunm set #2. I want to automate the process. The program needs to regognize if a name appears only once or more than once. If it appears more than once the data needs to be merged as I highlighted from yellow to green.
A colleague recorded this macro to insert a row into a column of data which a graph is plotted from to automatically update the graph each time more data is added. I can't figure out how to simplify the VBA and stop it adding a row on row 57 rather than the bottom of the graph.
I am trying to create a line graph that will incorporate multiple columns of data in one series of data. The reason I do not place all of the data in one column is because it could exceed the maximum amount of rows allowed in excel. Also I need the data split up for viewing purposes.
I can easily just graph one column but how do I combine all the columns into one line graph with the data being in separate columns. Basically all the columns will be my Y values and X values are just 1:n.
Example Below:
Column AColumn B Column C159261037114812
Now in the example all of the values are x values.
I'm working on a project where column A will always have numbers added every month. How can I get column B1 to automatically retrieve the last number shown?
I have used sumif statement to set up a value by week and then used the drop down list cell reference to display what i want ie week 25 data
What I would like is to display the 8 previous weeks and then use this in a graph, so every time i change the drop down week I see all the data showing the current week and previous weeks.
Now the problem is which formula do i use to to identify previous weeks
I know how to create combo or mixed graphs with line/bars on single axis, and secondary axis. I even know how to do mixed stacked and unstacked columnar charts...
But how do you depict in single view graph
a single bar (1 datapoint) with a single line (upper control limit e.g. target).?
And I don't want to to use shapes to draw the target line.
I want the target line to be automatically plotted by Excel...
I have a sub that is called when the user clicks a button on the form.
The sub takes a few seconds to run, so I have created a userform which contains a single label, which simply says "working ... please wait" in large letters.
A code example is as follows:
[Code] ....
Seems simple enough, but what actually happens is that the PleaseWait userform is displayed, but contains nothing (i.e. blank white - the contents is not being rendered). I'm guessing that I need to call something on the userform to force it to render its contents after the modeless call to show it. How can I do that?
I have an Access program that acts as a dashboard to open Excel reports. One of the Excel workbooks opens a form in the Auto_Open routine. My problem is that control is never passed back to access after the form opens. It appears that the code stops executing until the userform is closed. How can I open the excel workbook, show the Excel userform, and continue processing my Access code?
Set XL = Excel.Application With XL .Workbooks.Open FileName:=FileName, ReadOnly:=True . ActiveWorkbook.RunAutoMacros xlAutoOpen End With XL.Visible = True
' Excel Code Sub Auto_Open() Unload UserForm1 UserForm1.Show ' The code get "stuck" right here End Sub
I am working on a spreadsheet for a client. I am using Excel 2007 and she is using Excel 2000. I have created a emplate for her to enter survey data into. Using the following code, I have created combo boxes for the drop-down menus so the client can tab from one cell to the next while entering data:
Option Explicit Private Sub TempCombo_KeyDown(ByVal _ KeyCode As MSForms.ReturnInteger, _ ByVal Shift As Integer) 'Hide combo box and move to next cell on Enter and Tab Select Case KeyCode Case 9 ActiveCell.Offset(0, 1).Activate Case 13 ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Activate Case Else 'do nothing End Select End Sub.....................
I'm working on a workbook to track staffing patterns. I have two userforms included in my workbook. The first userform (userForm2) initiates upon opening the workbook. It's intended to allow the user to enter a date range and an office location for the report. The second userform (userform1) initiates when a command button (Weekly Summary) is clicked. I've linked texts boxes in userForm2 to cells in a hidden worksheet; this is where I'm holding the dates and office location until userform1 is initiated. I also have labels in userform1 linked to the same cells in the hidden worksheet so that when userform1 is initiated the office and date range appear at the top of userform1.
Here's the problem, when I click command button "Weekly Summary" the office location shows up perfectly however, the labels I have linked to cells in the hidden worksheet that contain dates do not update (i.e. they show the dates that were previously in those specific cells. I have to close userform1 and re-open it to get the dates to update.
I need the user to be able to choose a date range and office location when they enter the workbook. Then, I need userform1 to show the date range and office location (without having to open it, close it and re-open it) that the user chose on opening the workbook.
The piece of the script which I'm having difficulty with is this:
Code: For Each cell In Range("B7:B400") If cell.Value = "No" Then MsgBox "If " & cell.Offset(0, 1).Value & " has left R&D, please remember to delete any future resource forecasts" End If Next
When the cell value has changed to 'No' the pop up message appears, but for some strange reason the message is shown 5 times, despite their being only one record. The other problem I have is if I add another record and change the value to 'No' in column B, the message is shown twice, once for the previous record and the second for the new.
I need to reference the projected and actual expenses from the total on worksheet 'expenses' So i did so, however, if I change the drop down on the expenses worksheet to only display housing data, then the projected and actual expenses on my budget worksheet changes as well to the new data portrayed on the expenses worksheet.
I need to reference the cell, without it changing when I change the category display, but I need the cell to change accordingly if I enter new data in the overall tablet on the expenses worksheet.
Or do I need to create a seperate worksheet that has the data in and reference my cells on my budget worksheet to that new worksheet?
I have a workbook with 4 worksheet that store different type of data. It also has a userform that load at start of the application which is to search the data in the workbook. The userform has a combobox where the names of the sheets are stored. when the user selects say Sheet2 in the combobox, it enables the relevant textboxes on the userform and activates the worksheet at the change event. The userform has a search button that searches all the worksheets based on the text entered in a textbox.
The problem: how to search based on 1 textbox. What I want is: say for e.g the end-user selects sheet2 from the combobox, this intern enables 4 textboxes (Name, DOB, Nationality, ID #) on the userform. The end-user should have the liberty to enter data in 1 and/or any of the textboxes. The search should be performed, that if data is only in 1 of any of textboxes then give all rows that fit that criteria and display in a temp worksheet. if say the name and dob is filled by the user than what matches both should be displayed in a temp worksheet. if say dob, name and ID# given so the search button should narrow down to fit all 3 criteria and then display result in temp worksheet. As if mentioned data can be entered in either just 1 or any or all textboxes.
E.g. the worksheet is (Columns are Name, Nationality, DOB, ID#)
row 1 = name: Steven Martin, DOB: 27-may-1993, Nationality: Trinidad & Tobago, ID #: 1234567 row 2 = name: Gary Richards, DOB: 2-FEB-1993, Nationality: British, ID #: 456789 row 3 = name: David Cohen, DOB: 27-May 1993, Nationality: American, ID #: 98765 row 4 = name: Roberto McDonalds, DOB 21-Jul-1962, Nationality: British, ID # 654321 row 5= name: Gary Richards, DOB: 01-Dec-1978, Nationality: Australian, ID # 1234567
Now if the user enters only name as "Gary Richards" and search then row 2 and 5 should be displayed in a temp worksheet. if user enters name Roberto McDonald and ID# 1234567 then it should not display anything. if user enters DOB 27-may-1993 and nationality British and ID # 1234567 then as well shouldn't display anything and should a msgbox "no data found".
I have a client list/table that gets new data each day. (ALL) - see file
I need to create separate lists/tables on new sheets from the main data sheet (ALL) base on certain conditions/criteria...
On the (ID) sheet I need all the clients that have ID numbers to display, on the (Reg no) sheet I need all the clients with Reg numbers to display... etc.
Like I said that the main data sheet grows each day and the lists/tables on the other sheets needs to automatically include all the new clients that's entered.
Is there a way to do this using formulas or do I need code to do this?
I have a quite big database as a result of a study in Excel 2010. There is a special block of data for every participant in the study, including 16 data series in 16 lines. I have to make a unique chart for every line.
One block is bulid up in a way, that every row is the input for a chart, with the exception of one "spacer" row, which is empty.
Name 1 2 3 4 ... A B C
D E F
For example in the sample above, there should be 6 line-charts (A, B, C, D, E, F) next to the block.
Can a macro be written, so I can automatically create the chart-set by selecting the block's upper left cell and running the macro? Or is there any easier method?
I have a spreadsheet created in Excel 2003 (which is what we use at work, unfortunately).
My employees periodically take a test to ensure they have certain items memorized (or are making progress to that end). The spreadsheet rows show all 46 of my employees, and their test scores. The columns are the dates that the tests are administered. I can create a line graph based on the chart data, and interpolate these data with no problems.
The problem is that there are 46 employees! 46 lines on the same graph make for a very cluttered, hard to understand visual. I want to simplify the view by "filtering out" some of the data.
I have an additional column in my spreadsheet for each employee's work area (Area 1, Area 2, etc), and another column with data based on first letter of last name (the values here could be "A-G", "H-M", "N-S" and "T-Z", for example). I figure i could filter my line graph based on these two columns. For example, somehow select just Area 1, and reduce the number of lines on the graph to 16. Or better yet, Choose "Area 2" AND "A-M" and end up with 7 employees (and therefore 7 lines on the graph).
Here's what i have tried:
1) Select the work area column, and use the Filter, which created a drop-down list at the column heading. When i use this drop-down list, i can easily filter the data in the worksheet by Work Area, but this is not reflected in the line graph, which still shows all 46 lines. The problem was that i forgot that i had set the Calculation Options to "Manual". Setting this to "Automatic" (or leaving it on Manual and pressing F9) solved the problem, as the chart now updates when i use the filters. Calculation options are under the "Formula" tab in 2007, or in Tools -> Options -> [either calculation or formula, i forget what it's called] in 2003.
2) Create several separate line graphs in several separate sheets. I wouldn't want to assign someone else the task of maintaining a spreadsheet of such inefficient design.
I am trying to create a user form that will allow the user to type int values in boxes. Then when the user clicks the submit button the code needs to add the values from each user input box to the existing values in specific cells accross multiple worksheets. Then the form needs to be cleared after the cell values are updated. I can create the form it is the code on the submit button i am lost on. Also it is important that some boxes may be left blank.
If you click the Grey "Qty Form" button on sheet1 the form will open. User data numbers can be entered in the blank boxes. When the submit button is pressed the form needs to add the user entered numbers to the numbers in the corresponding cells in sheet 1 and sheet 2. How to code the submit button to do this properly. Also after the data on the spreadsheet is updated the form needs to be cleared and start the cursor back in the Item 1 box on the form.
I have created an Excel spreadsheet that collects info from a userform; we are using this as a issue log.
However, at the same time, upon completion of the log, the engineer then needs to fill out the essentially the same information in a Word form for sending off to the customer. I was thinking that perhaps this could be done by using a mail merge but from past experience this generally isn't very user friendly or quick.
Is it possible to automate this somehow using VBA such that when Enter is clicked on the form, not only does it fill in the next available line in the log spreadsheet but it also opens Word and populates the required fields with this same info?
We are working on a project at work with our suppliers which will require much redoing of the same sort of things, so I've started to learn and use VBA in excel.
Intro done, I have started a sheet with parts data held on it, and created a user form to allow the operator (me ATM) to input part details into the form, this includes the part number, revision etc.
The next thing I need to do is gather some additional information about the parts. one of the things I need is the number of places each dimension needs to be measured in, the others are sizes tolerances etc.
each part could have a different number of dimensions, and each dimension could have a different number of places to be measured. The operator has already input the number of dimensions on the previous form and this is assigned a variable name 'myDim'
I need a new user form with a number of boxes matching myDim, and labels (letters) to match for inputting the next chunk of information. Once I have this figure out I can replicate for each requirement.
Is there any way to make the number of text boxes in one form be dictated by an input from another form. I can play with the input if needed, it is currently a string, but should be an integer.
I am trying to create a single input sheet that automatically feeds data into several other worksheets within the same workbook. Some of the sheets use the same data, some are completely independent of each other. The point of having this is so that users can go in, fill in the input sheet, and the other sheets will automatically be filled with data from the input sheet.
I am making planning & status board for each project(yard). But in my 1st Stage I am having a problem for creation of Userform & List Box for my Display Sheet.
Problem-1) I want to create userform which can Add or Delete my MasterData.
Problem-2) I want to display & change Block Status of Yard in List View. Yard No will be selected using combo box. List View Should allow addition & Deletion of record.
Note: I am a bit new user for VBA but can copy codes from sample file to use in the files.
I have a simple table with these column: Name, Surname, Address, Date of Birth, etc.
I would like to create a button which open a mask to insert the above data "automatically" in the table/columns.
I tried playing, being able to create the mask UI, but it doesn't work: the command "OK" doesn't insert the data. I am sure it is a stupid thing, but I can't sort it out.
