How To Loop Sum Data By Date
Aug 9, 2008
I have 10 min stock values that I need to sum by date (39 entries per day).
Because I have almost daily entries for 8 years, I need an automated formula to aggregate the daily data.
I tried using macro summing, however I could not figure out how to loop the macro to run for each day.

How would I go about writing a loop that can run down rows until it hits, for ex 1/1/2010 (dates are in column A).
Also, would I be able to make a loop run for 30 rows and perform some calculations with two different columns?

How can I use an if loop to return the first number of a date.
For example, if cell A1 has the date: 7/06/2006, I want to say:
If (ActiveCell.Characters(Start:=1, Length:=1).Text = "7") Then
TodayInt = 7
End If
But this is trying to look for a string and its finding a date, so I
get an error...

1st loop Date = 1/1/2008
miss 2/1/2008
2nd loop Date = 3/1/2008
For Each Date In Rng

I am trying to loop through some data in Column B and I want it to report on ALL values that are < todays date. However the loop is stopping at the first date that is less and not continuing on afterwards. I know what is causing this but I am unsure how to solve it.

i'm trying to convert a column (P) from date dd-mmm-yy, subtract 5 days, and paste value as YYMM using a macro. I've borrowed bits from other macros and producted this but it's not working (and i've played around with it to the point it doesn't make sense anymore!)
Option Explicit
Sub ADD_REPORT_DATE()
Dim LR As Long, i As Long
Dim tempValue1
Dim tempValue2 As Date
Worksheets("Report").Select
LR = Range("P" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
For i = LR To 1 Step -1
Set ActiveCell.Value = Text(ActiveCell.Value - 5, "YYMM")
Next i
End Sub

Using online examples I am usually capable to reconstruct whatever I need. However, it's the combination of things I need to do now, which has left me banging my head on the keyboard for days now
Here's the data I am working with:
Sheet 1:
Sheet 2:
And here's what I need to get done:
From sheet 1, select first ID entry from Column A.Find matching ID in Column A of sheet 2On match, find in Column B the earliest date belonging to the concerned IDCopy that earliest date next to the corressponding ID in Column B back on sheet 1Return to step 1 and repeat for next ID entry. Do until end of list (sheet1)
So the result should look as following on sheet 1:
The major issue I am having is the combination of step 3 and 5. Because it probably means something like moving through an array that's within an array through which one is moving. And I am just missing that bit of experience that allows me to make that thinking step. I just keep falling off if you know what I mean...

The code below first asks a user to input a weekending date (which must be a Saturday). The value of the input box goes to cell C1 of my spreadsheet. That part works fine. I also have a function in Cell G1 with the function:
=TEXT(C1, "dddd")
I don't know if this is the best way to test for a Saturday but it is what I have,
Where is goes bad is if the date is not a Saturday. I have a loop to force a new date install via a input box but it won't update C1 with the inputed data to recheck for the Saturday value. Below is the whole code I am working with...
Dim aa As String
Dim bb As String
If Range("C1") = "" Then
Do While bb = ""
bb = InputBox("Please Enter a Weekending Date!")
Loop
Range("C1").Value = bb
End If
If Range("G1") "Saturday" Then
Do While aa "Saturday"
aa = InputBox("Weekending Must Be a Saturday. Please Enter a New Weekending Date")
Loop
Range("C1").Value = aa
End If

I am trying to figure out a way to condense my code (improve my code) Right now I am using a Macro in Excel to go through a workbook by selecting each column individually and if there is something in the header then formatting that column as text. The problem with the way I am currently doing it, is that due to size limitations on the VBA code, I can only select columns A to Z, and if there is more data in the worksheet it is not formatted. Also I would like the code to check the header and if the word date is in there, format it as a date instead. Also if there is a way to delete any invalid ranges in the workbook
Sub Format()
Dim VarFileName As String
Dim VarPath As String
Dim VarSavein As String
Dim wsheet As Worksheet
VarSavein = Sheets("sheet1").Range("C2").Value
VarFileName = Sheets("sheet1").Range("A2").Value
VarPath = Sheets("sheet1").Range("B2").Value
Workbooks.Open VarPath & VarFileName
For Each wsheet In ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets
Sheets(wsheet.Name).Select
Columns("A:A").Select
Selection.TextToColumns Destination:=Range("A1"), DataType:=xlDelimited, _
TextQualifier:=xlDoubleQuote, ConsecutiveDelimiter:=False, Tab:=True, _
Semicolon:=False, Comma:=False, Space:=False, Other:=False, FieldInfo _
:= Array(1, 2), TrailingMinusNumbers:=True..........................................

With Sheets("regrade pharm_standalone")
For Each r In .Range("standaloneTerritory")
If r.Value = "X101" Then
r.EntireRow.Copy
Sheets("X101").Range("A1").End(xlDown).Offset(1).PasteSpecial xlPasteValues
End If
Next r
End With
-------------------
I need to repeat this loop for values from X101 to X151. In all cases, the sheet name is equal to the value I'm looking up (eg: value = X102 goes to sheet X102).
I have a named range called 'territories' that contains the list of X101 -> X152.
I'm hoping to make the code perform the loop for each of the territories without my having to copy & paste and change the 'X101' 51 times as this would seem a rather silly thing to do!

I have a workbook with two sheets. One contains raw data without any formatting. I'm trying to link the cells in "Raw Data" sheet to my "Clean Data" sheet.
The data are financial results by divisions and each division by year. So my goal is to do a loop 'Do until or 'Do while by the years to separate the divisions. My years go from 2008 to 2013 repeating itself for each divisions. Doing that way, when I add a year in my "Raw Data" sheet and re-run my code it will add the 2014 financial results to the "Clean Data" sheet.

I have an add-in that can run the code below. It works fine, however, I need it to run whether there is just one row of data, or 100 rows of data. I have headers, so the first row of data starts in row 2, and the last no matter what will be in row 100 (so 99 rows of actual data technically). There are usually only 10 rows of actual data as the rest are usally set to blanks with iferror. The code below works, but I need it to run for however many rows of actual data there are.

I'm trying to get data from one ws to another with corresponding keys, and wondering what the best and most efficient way would be to accomplish this.
INDEX...MATCH ?
Do While Not IsEmpty(ActiveCell)...ActiveCell.Offset(1, 0).Select...Loop?
Here's the setup:2 worksheets: source and target
source ws has 2 relevant col: A and K which are key/val pairs
target ws has x number of col
val from source ws are to be written in 1st avail blank col on target ws
some of the keys will exist in both ws, some only in one
if a key from source ws is not present in target ws, it will need to be added along with its val
The # of the first avail col is targetCol:
targetCol = Cells(1, Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column + 1

What I am trying to do is pretty simple (this is what I imagine)
I have a 4 columns
- the columns 1 and 2 contain a number of days and an associated number
- the columns 3 and 4 contain a number of days and an associated number
My formula should do this:
- if the number of days (col 1 and 3) are the same, then multiply the number in col 3 and 4 together.
- more specifically, for each number in col 1, the formula looks all matching values in col 3 and makes a simple calculation
- result displayed in column 5
Constraints
- col 1 has more data than col 3
- the data in both column are not sorted
Dim x As Integer
For x = 1 To 10 Step 1
If Cells(x, 1) = Cells(x, 3).Value Then
Cells(x, 5).Value = Cells(x, 3) * Cells(x, 4)
End If
Next x

I am working on a macro that opens up a workbook, formats the data by moving columns etc and then spits out the data to different workbooks according to a string in col R (M,C,S etc). I am able to split the file into the workbooks, but it copies the whole sheet and not just the visible cells (its working via a filter). I have tried adding code into the loop to basically copy the visible cells to Sheet2 and then delete (or clear) sheet1 so that I only have the relevant data but have very interesting. This is only the first of a few procedures I would like to add within the loop. Ideally I want to have a prompt for the filename and path for each file, and also another procedure to add a number into each seperate file. If I know why I cant get this simple function to run I will, hopefully, be able to add in the other bits!
Function SplitSheets()

Dim ws As Worksheet, source As Range, dest As Range
Dim daily As Worksheet
Dim sType(4) As String
Dim i As Integer
Dim strSaveFileas As String
sType(1) = "M"
sType(2) = "S"
sType(3) = "C"
sType(4) = "N"
Set daily = Worksheets(1)

Macro which loops through a number of files and calls the same macro in each of them. Unfortunately when I add "Application.Run..." to the code, it no longer loops through the process and instead stops after updating the first file in the loop. If I remove the "Application.Run..." code and add any other code, the loop works fine and it continues through the process repeating all the steps for each file found.
Why it stops after one file when using "Application.Run..." to call the macros?
NB I have a list of path and file names starting in row 8 of columns A and C. Each file in the list has a macro called UpdateS1 and promoupdate1.

I have working code that returns a row number within a for loop based on parameters I set.
Each time the for loop runs I would like to store this row number, then after the loop has finished, delete all stored rows.
Code:
for rowNum = 1 to x (some variable end row number which I already have worked out using End(xlUp).Row)
if x = y then
*storedRow = rowNum
end if
next rowNum
*
Lines with a * are the bits I can't work out. I've been trying to understand arrays by reading posts on what other people have done, but I can't fit (or fully understand) the reDims, or reDim preserves into my code. I've seen what appear to be quite complex ways involving uBounds and LBounds, but unfortunately I can't see how to use them.
All I want is to simply keep adding a row numbers to a variable, (i.e. row 2, 5, 20, 33, 120, etc) and then delete those specific rows.

I am looping through each cell in a range and I would like to loop in reverse order.
Dim CELL As range
Dim TotalRows As Long
TotalRows = Cells(Rows.Count, 1).End(xlUp).Row
For Each CELL In Range("C1", "C" & TotalRows)
CELL.Select
'Code here to delete a row based on criteria
Next
I have tried:
For Each CELL In Range("C" & TotalRows, "C1")
and it does not make a difference. I need to loop in reverse order since what I am doing in the loop is deleting a row. I am looking at a cell and determining its value. If the value is so much, then the row gets deleted. The problem is that the next row "moves up" one row (taking the pervious cell's address) and therefore the For Each Next loop thinks it has already looked at that row.

I've built a simple inventory tracking system, and decided a reporting feature would be nice. There are four categories that are entered when inventory is removed...Date, Employee Name, Item Description, Location, and quantity.
Four my reporting purposes I'm only concerned with Date, Employee name and Item Description.
I've been able to write code that does what I want using a multiple Cases and a For loop once the case is identified. However, the more data there is the longer this takes...so I decided to stretch myself and try my hand at arrays (first time really working with arrays), but I'm having trouble figuring out exactly what I need to do.
Here is what I think the steps need to be.
1. Store my data (the categories above) which are located in the Check Out sheet
2. Go through the arrayed data to find exact matches based on my search criteria (here is where the Cases come in)
3. Pull out only that data and write the information to a "Report" Sheet
4. Export that sheet to PDF (this part I already have)
Below is a copy of what my current "working" code looks like (I should mention that the search selections are made from a userform this is what the Cases are deciphering between which ones are blank etc...), also most of my variables are instantiated as Public variables within a Public_Variables module also below.

And the Public Variables...

I am trying to do is use a loop to store data from a range into a 3 or 4 dimensional Array and then output the data from the Array in another range. so for example the i want loop through the data in this range and store all data that is in account 701 into an array and then output this information in another range (tab). The data would have several different account but I only want to see one at a time.
Account Price Amount 701 150 1,000,000 701 125 250,000,000 701 3.25 6,000,000 702 4.25 25,000,000 702 2.35 3,600,000 702 2.55 10,000,000

Input Workseet:
Col A: Date
Col B through M: Headings are employee names, data is how many hours of vacation per DATE.
User will enter a date in column A, and then the corresponding number of vacation hours a person took that day. There are a dozen or so employees, so we're only entering a record on the dates that someone has taken vacation time. Dates are mm/dd/yyyy format. The hours are number/two decimals.
What I would like:
An update command button (hey, I can actually do that part!) that has an on-click that:
Loops through each column B through M, and copies the information to the employee's individual sheet.
The individual sheets:
Columns are:
A = Date of vacation
B through M are months Jan through Dec.
Data starts *paste* in cell A12, where the date of the first vacation day they take should appear. If it was a half-day in February, .5 (or .50) will appear in cell A14.
If it's not clear, I'm happy to send the file! If you put your email here, I'll send it right away. If you email me at home, it'll be a few hours before I can send.
No rush on my part.
Really appreciate it!! I'm not a coder. I know small bits and pieces. When you start talking about Dim, I think of chinese food.

I have a short problem:
I have a list of addresses on Excel which are all in one column like this:
Mr. XYZ
Roadstreet 2
45000 YXYX
E-Mail
Homepage
Details
Mrs.TTT
Woman street 3
45000 YXYX
E-Mail
Homepage
Details
etc.
The field E-Mail, Homepage, Details contains Hyperlinks
Now I want to transpose this list into different columns like this:
Mr. XYZ Roadstreet 2 45000 YXYX E-Mail Homepage Details
Mrs.TTT Woman street 3 45000 YXYX E-Mail Homepage Details
I have a list of more then 1000 addresses and a macro until the first blank would help.
I have already some ideas but it doesn´t work with the hyperlinks.

In my workbook I have about 20 sheets (less in the attached sample), and on most sheets I’d like to query data for each day and find an average value based on the time and then copy that result into another sheet. I’m not sure if I’ll need 2 macro’s for this or if one can be used.
Here’s a quick description:
Assuming that I am currently in the sheet I want to run the macro, then I will either input “1:45” or “0:45” into a popup box, or I could always simply input the 1:45 or 0:45 in the code itself. I’m flexible
1:45:
If I input 1:45, then I’d like the macro to find the first 1:45 in Column B and the value in the same row in Column F will be used in the calculation. Once 1:45 is located, then the macro moves up to find 22:45 in Column B and the value in the same row in Column F will be used in the calculation.....

I have a workbook that contains, say, 50 worksheets: the first two worksheets summarise the data and are static in that they don't move position. However, the next four worksheets contain certain data for any given month. Each time a new month comes along, say, November, I insert four new worksheets after the two static ones as a result October's four worksheets are simply moved down the line in terms of worksheet order.
I need a macro to refer to the first six worksheets only (not the other tabs). I opted for index referencing for each worksheet, ie one - six. Now within these six worksheets in any given month, I need to sort the data by a certain column. The problem: in sheets 1,4,5 and 6 I need to rank by column E, but in sheets 2 and 3 I need to rank by column C. I have stepped through the code, which works for sheets 3-6, but doesn't seem to refer to sheets 1-2.
