Hyperlink In Excel Cell To Locate PDF File With Specific Page Or Topic?
Apr 3, 2014
I need hyperlink to pdf (as this is given in one block how to give hyper link to pdf file).
I want to give give pdf hyperlink in in excel to locate the pdf file with specific page or topic number in pdf file (like pdf file name is 'ABC' and page number '10')
On sheet4 is a list of dates and I named that range as UPDATES2013. Each cell in that range is a hyperlink. Sheet1 cell I3 is a data validation list with the named range UPDATES2013 as the list. When a selection from Cell I3 is made I can get it to follow they hyperlink with the code I have. The problem I am having is if there is no file found, then I would like my Userform1 to show. I have tried several different things with the code, but every time I think Im going to get it to work....it doesn't. It either wont show the Userform at all, or it shows it even if the file is found. I am currently putting the code to run the macro on the worksheet module using the worksheet_change event.
One last thing...I also have hyperlinks throughout Sheet1 that will lead to the same files as in the named range UPDATES2013 from sheet4. I need the same thing to happen if they click one of these hyperlinks instead of using the data validation list in Cell I3. Is there a way to make one code that will show Useform1 if a hyperlink is selected and the file cannot be located (whether it be by the individual cells on sheet1...or the data validation list in Cell I3)?Here is the code I am using right now.
VB: Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) DoFollow2013 ActiveCell End Sub [code]....
Is it possible to do hyperlink to a specific cell in one of the tabs of another excel file? I managed to link to another excel but can't make it go to a particular cell.
I created a hyperlink to a .PDF and it works when I test it. However, when I save the file, go in later, and select the hyper link I am met with a 'Cannot open the specified file' message.
I have had this prior in Excel. The hyperlink works fine in Outlook, Word, and Access...
I have a worksheet that contains two basic columns of data, A and B. What I would like to do is based on the value in column A, I would like to copy the contents of column B to a textfile (preserving the basic line structure and hopefully without any extra characters like quotation marks attached). So for all the values in column A = 'Account', Id like to take all the corresponding values in Column E (for example) and save them to the same file, preferably where the filename itself as 'Account.xyz'. And I would like to do this for all unique values in Column A, that is do it for 'Account' and 'AccountPrivilege' etc. Note Column A is essentially presorted alphabetically already. There are actually 1000s of rows with hundreds of unique A values so Id like to find a way to automate this process.
I would like to write a macro that would insert a hyperlink to another file an would prompt the user to select the location of the file once the macro was run. I am not sure how I would get my macro to prompt the user to define the location (which is located on a network drive).
How do I create a hyperlink in an Excel 2003 file that will open a PDF file with Reader?
I have an Excel file of hundreds of Customer names and invoice numbers. I have a directory of PDF files. The name of each PDF file is the customer name, a space, and the invoice number. I should be able to have a column in the Excel file that contains a formula that creates a hyperlink to open the corresponding PDF file.
I used the HYPERLINK function and built the path and file by concatenating information. When I click the hyperlink, I keep getting an Excel error: Cannot open the specified file.
Do you think this problem is something of my own doing or some "undocumented feature" in Excel?
Actually i've downloaded Tracking report of my SPO and this report is on 4-5 csv files (1 file per week). I have to gather data from these 4 files into one Worksheet. I have to do this with command button on my worksheet; with Open file dialogue box (i want to locate the csv files).

and my Worksheet is like that (With a command Button):
I want to import first 3 columns of csv file on first 3 columns on my worksheet; leave 2 columns blank and then import the 4th column... now for example i have done importing data from 1st csv file and the data is on 50 rows.. i click the command button again, locate the 2nd csv file.. do the same thing (import 1st 3 columns, 2 blank, then 4th) --from 51st Row-- and so on...
I want to apply a bottom page border in my excel file. The page border should be fixed, i.e. if you insert a row above the border then the border should not shift as well.
I have a workbook that has 9 different tabs in it. Once all the information has been completed throughout the workbook, is there a code that could transfer specific data on each page to a different colum on that same page? I need to do this for 9 pages at one time. The information is listed differently on each page. I need to transfer data from the current data column to the previous data column once the entire workbook has been filed out.
I have the following formula =HYPERLINK(("G:ProjectTest Project"),"Link". Now this works fine, However I have a cell "A5" containing "Test Project" And I would rather the link refernced the cell contents So the code would look something like this; =HYPERLINK(("G:Project"+A5+"),"Link"). or something to that effect, this obviously doesnt work hence why I am here.
I am back for the unequal length of Sumproduct as I could not find the orginal topic. In the attached file, in cell B10, I just modified * to - - but got error result. Is it because to the unequal length situation, we can use * only?
In my excel file, I have a cell with a hyperlink which points to an intranet portal. When I copy the hyperlink and paste it in the browser's address bar, the site opens. But when I directly try to open from the excel, by clicking on the cell, it redirects to a wrong URL and eventually does open the site.
importing some selective data from txt file to excel. Only the following rows I need to pull out from text file into the Excel i.e. Project row, installation row, and two rows immediately below the installation row. This is my logical procedure..
1. Macro look for the rows that contains the word "PROJECT"
2. Open an excel file
3. Pull the row from txt file to this new excel file.
4. Macro look for the rows that contains the word "INSTALLATION"
3. Pull that row with INSTALLATION AS WELL AS Two rows immediately below the INSTALLATION row.
I work for an environmental company and we do emission testing. We specifically use the analysis software CEMsoft and ProRATA. After each test/run we get a text file (.txt) that we print out which then has to put into a specific pre-made excel data file.
I am wondering if there is a way to export the data from the .txt file and into the specific fields within the excel sheet. Can I encode the .txt or excel file to do it for me? Trying to eliminate the need to manually put in the data from the printed out sheet.
I have a delivery time programm (clients to be delivered the next day) which I would like to run every night at a specific time. Is there any MS tool to trigger the Excel file? Or do we have to use the "old" batch file ( if yes, pls send example)?
I need to build vb that will move threw a folder earch files this source folder will be s:dc eports there will be multiple types of files. If the file ends with .ERR and the file size is > 0.1 KB THEN take file and open it then find the user id this will be 6 didgets .. this then needs to be located(if u look at attached spreadsheet “CTR208088.ERR” and go too column “AB” you will see “FA2 INPUT BY:311752 CODE) and then take and match THIS CODE (311752) to a workbook called “cashfrontieradmin11” there will be a “user name” column ‘A” in a “input names” tab and next to it column “B” “ full name” it will then register name and attach an email to user saying they have error “processing idx file into hiport”.
It will then attach error file to email and send to appropriate user(that is written in error log ) Example file is here ..the only issue I guess is being able to read the character placing(user id) in the message file..to pick this up and map back to admin file I will attach both files
I have a requirement to search workbooks in a particular folder with specific string in file name. For example, let us assume I need to find a file which contains the name 'RR' in it. The position of 'RR' will vary with files i.e. 'RR' might be present either in the beginning, middle or at the end of file name. All I wanted is to search for file with 'RR' and do some activity and close the file and then goto next file. Similarly, the next search has to be performed with the files containing the name 'BB' in it.
I am using Excel 2007. I have pasted my code below. It works fine unless it has a space, in which case it inserts %20. In this case, sRange2 = ActiveSheet.Range("E11") will always have a space in it since this is where i store a job's name.
Sub Macro1() Dim sRange1 As String Dim sRange2 As String Dim sRange3 As String Dim sRange4 As String Dim sFullPath As String
a) run a code that will create a pop-up window with the question, "Can you show me where the CODEMAP.txt" file is?"
b) then the user will locate the file in a pop-up window and be able to click/select the file and there are "ok" and "cancel" buttons.
c) once the "codemap.txt" file is selected, the vba code will automatically change this file to "codemap.csv" so that it will open in excel (temporarily). This file can be placed anyway, even on the desktop because it won't be needed later. This is only temporary.
d) Then on the "codemap.csv" file, everything from sheet 1, cell b1 to cell b700 are copied and pasted to sheet two of this macro
I have a hyperlink from cell M2 in a worksheet to cell B2 in another worksheet. I typed the cell reference on the target worksheet as B2. this works fine. The problem is that when I copy/paste the hyperlink down the column, the reference cell stays at B2. I need the reference cell to change when copied down to B3, B4, etc.
