ISERROR Function With Range Of Cells
Jun 25, 2008How do I use the ISERROR function on a range. I have tried =ISERROR(A1:A10) but this doesn't work, it always gives the "true" output even if there is no error in that range.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to run a match function combined with If and Iserror. I need this because I want to see if a given item number in one cell in one sheet in excel is ALSO located in a given range in another excel sheet. If that number is found, I want the result to say "yes". If the item number is NOT also found in the given range in the other workbook, I want it to say "no". This is what I have so far:
=IF(ISERROR(MATCH($C9,'Case Usage Summary'!$A$2:$A$45138,0))=FALSE,"Yes","No")
The problem so far is that this is actually giving me the wrong results. For instance, the above function attempts to located cell C9, denoted as item number 964, in another sheet called Case Usage Summary in the range between A2 and A45138. If it could find 964 in that range in the Case Usage Summary sheet, it should give an answer of "yes", if it couldn't then it should give an answer of "no". The problem is that it gave me an answer of "no", but I just looked through the list of item numbers in the case usage summary sheet and there IS in fact a item number 964 entered in the range. What is going on here? I tried this for some of the other cells, and it is just giving me "no" for all of them. What is going on?
I am trying and failing to use this
If (IsError(Application.WorksheetFunction.Match(StartAT, GradeArray, 0))) Then
StartAT is a text string that might be blank or a space or other invalid entry, GradeArray is a table which I am using to get a numeric value from a valid text entry. If the entry is invalid then I will use a value from an adjacent cell. The problem is that I get the 1004 error.
I have a worksheet that I want to format based on three different cells. I had it set up with the following:
Code:
For i = 2 To LR
If Cells(i, 13).Value = "Price Mismatch" Then
Cells(i, 1).EntireRow.Interior.ColorIndex = 39
[Code] ........
Worked fine until one of the cells had an error in the result, I want to have this row colored also. I altered the first check to :
Code:
If Cells(i, 13).Value = "Price Mismatch" Or IsError(Cells(i, 13)) = "True" Then
I have tried multiple variations without success. I need to have the row colored if the value in the cell on the row in column 13 = Price Mismatch or is an error.
I have a workbook with several worksheets in the same format. I would like to have a function to output the sheets that have rows in which collumn A = X AND collumn B = Y.
I've been working on this one for a couple days now and I'm not making much progress.
I ahve some range of cells in one Sheet and I have one cel in anonther sheet which will hold the sum values in the range.

I have defined a variable FirstGridRow that will take care of the '4' but I need to find a way to splice it all together. Essentially I am stuck trying to tack on the ":A". The first piece shows where I am coming from and the second is where I am trying to go to.

If an objective is partially met then it is marked with a "/" and if it is not met then it is marked with a "." . I have now created a combined column where I want to collate whether an objective has been met at all across the 6 tests.
For e.g. if in the range H14:M14 there is an "X" then N14 should show "X". If there is no "X" but there is a "/" then N14 should show "/" and it there are neither values in the range then it will show "." .
I tried

but it just came back with a formula error.
I'm trying to write some code that inserts a SUMIF function to a given range of cells:
In simplified form, the code runs as follows: ...
I am trying to use the SUMIF function in excel where I want to sum a range of cells greater than whatever is in cell D8. Here is what I tried to use, but it doesn't work. SUMIF(A2:A10,>D8,B2:B10)
The content in D8 can change because the user makes a choice from the drop-down list and a number pops up in D8 that is referenced to their choice.
I am trying to code a macro that will search through a selected range of cells for key letters, for instance this cell may contain any combination of B, C, Te, Tc, RH, or LH. I would preferably like to search with capitalization being a factor but it is not a deal breaker. Below is a sample of what i have if the cell has a B, C it works for B but ignores the C i need it t o recognize both.
Code:
If InStr(1, ActiveCell.Text, "B") Then Range("O" + CStr(ActiveCell.Row)).Select
With Selection.Interior
.Pattern = xlSolid
.PatternColorIndex = xlAutomatic
.color = 65535
.TintAndShade = 0
.PatternTintAndShade = 0

I'm working on a workbook that will track staffing patterns.
The workbook has three worksheets: Sheet1 "RCS", Sheet2 "HCT' and Sheet3 "Hidden". I've attached the workbook to this thread. The password for the form is "j".
On Sheet3 "Hidden" I have two tables that are set up to collect the SUM of columns on Sheets1 "RCS" and Sheet2 "HCT". I'm finding the SUM of each range by way of the background color. I've set up the following formulas and when the "data collection tables" are in the same worksheets as the original information, the formula's work perfectly:
The following functions are pulling data from Sheet1 "RCS" and placing them into a table in Sheet2 "Hidden"
[Code] ........

[Code] .......
I have two more functions that aren't working due to the fact that the source values are percentages and NOT plain numbers. The above functions work great for SUM but not for percentages. EXAMPLE--Let's say, 3 sub percentages it gives me the SUM of the 3 percentages (i.e. 85% + 100% + 100% = 285% instead of giving me 95%.
[Code] ........
How might I use the following functions to find the average of the source fields instead of the SUM?
I need to check a range of cells (B4:B35) and see if any of the contents are less than a specified cell (M1) and then show a message, (the message part I can do). I have tried using For Each but I then get the message for every cell that is below the specified cell (which in theory could be all of them). I have also tried using an If Any statement but didnt work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedLets say the cell I'm working on is D3
D3 = A1+A3+A5 (It's a formula, and sometimes it returns "#VALUE")
I want cell D3 to have a formula and if the result in D3 ISERROR, put a value of 1 there.
I'm running into Circular Reference, and don't know how to do it ....
In Mr Excel's Pod Cast on April 12th, he showed how to use the OFFSET function to define a range inside a SUM function. Then he had Conditional Formatting that would highlight the range that was being summed. Can anyone tell me what the formula would be inside the Conditional Formatting dialog box to get the OFFSET range to have a certain format?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI learnt a new formula from this forum which -> if(n=(a1),a1,"S"). I use another formula -> if(iserror=(a1),a1,"S"). It comes out the same result.
May i know what is the main difference between these two formulae?
I currently use the following formula using IF and ISERROR i.e.
=IF(ISERROR(IF(O12-(O12/100*80)<S12,"",IF(O12="","","Warning 20% or less Cover Remains!")))," ",(IF(O12-(O12/100*80)<S12,"",IF(O12="","","Warning 20% or less Cover Remains!"))))
What I’m after is to add an addition condition e.g. using “IF(O12-(O12/100*80)<S12” and “IF(O12-(O12/100*90)<S12” which would display either Warning 20% or less Cover Remains! or Warning 10% or less Cover Remains! incorporating ISERROR to avoid #N/A
I'm currently using the following code, but it returns #value when the cells don't have anything to concatenate.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAnyone have a way to create a macro that will convert a formula that returns an error into and IF(ISERROR) formula?
I have inherited a financial model in which the programmer did not consider that hundreds of the formula results would be #DIV/0 unless there are entries in the source cells. I would like to create a custom macro that would convert the formula to an IF statement, so that if the formula in that cell is currently creating an error, return 0, if not run the formula.
I require a worksheet formula, something along these lines:
=IF(ISERROR(SEARCH("Cat",OR(A1,A2))),"No","Yes")
The formula is in A3 and I need it to test both cells A1 and A2 for the existence of the word Cat. The word may be in either, both or neither of the cells.
I'm having trouble with a formula. What I want to do is create a conditional formatting so if a cell contains certain keywords, it will highlight that cell.
What I want is if a cell contains the word BOX or PO or P.O. to highlight that cell or show either a true or false.
What I have is =IF(OR(ISERROR(SEARCH("BOX",A1,1),SEARCH("PO",A1,1),SEARCH("P.O.",A1,1))),1,0)
It works if I do it separately but when combined it just stays 1 all the time despite the cell not containing those words. Am I organizing the OR and ISERROR right?
I have the formula below which sums range dv77:dv81, if dy77:dy81 is not an error. Works perfectly.
={SUM(IF(ISERROR(DY77:DY81),"",DV77:DV81))}
However I cannot seem to modify it correctly to work with a sumifs formula. Could someone please show me how it might work?, or a workaround?
For reference the sumifs would sum range(DV77:DV81), if range(E77:E81) is "Neutrogena" and range (A77:A81) is "9".
I want to conditionally delete rows if the date in the row is later than today. For example, I have a table that has a set number of rows and columns, however the dates included vary. The first column of each row has a date. I want to compare that date to "=today()" which is in another cell in the same worksheet.

=IF(ISERROR(1- OFFSET(INPUT70!$A$1,20+B3,2)/OFFSET(INPUT70!$A$1,19+B3,2)-1),0,1-OFFSET(INPUT70!$A$1,20+B3,2)/OFFSET(INPUT70!$A$1,19+B3,2)-1)
In a sister worksheet is this calculation
=IF(ISERROR(1-OFFSET(INPUT71!$A$1,20+B3,2)/OFFSET(INPUT71!$A$1,19+B3,2)-1),0,1-OFFSET(INPUT71!$A$1,20+B3,2)/OFFSET(INPUT71!$A$1,19+B3,2)-1)
The name of the worksheet is all that is different.
I have a function
VB:
Function f1(Matrix As Range)
'Does something and returns f1 = a double
End Function
And a second function which defines and constructs a matrix of doubles to use as an argument in f1 to return a double:
VB:
Function f2(dD As Double)
Dim MatrixRed() As Double
Redim MatrixRed(1 To dD, 1 To 10)
For i = 1 To dD
For j = 1 To 10
MatrixRed(i, j) = i * j
Next
Next
f2 = f1(MatrixRed)
End Function
I get an output error (#VALUE). I think it has something to do with MatrixRed not being a range anymore?
I got this last night, and decided to see if I can combine two equations if possible. Here is what I have:

I am wondering if you could please help me with the below code I have.
