IsError 1004 & Match Function In VBA Code

Aug 13, 2008

I am trying and failing to use this

If (IsError(Application.WorksheetFunction.Match(StartAT, GradeArray, 0))) Then

StartAT is a text string that might be blank or a space or other invalid entry, GradeArray is a table which I am using to get a numeric value from a valid text entry. If the entry is invalid then I will use a value from an adjacent cell. The problem is that I get the 1004 error.

Run Match Function Combined With If And Iserror

Mar 4, 2014

I'm trying to run a match function combined with If and Iserror. I need this because I want to see if a given item number in one cell in one sheet in excel is ALSO located in a given range in another excel sheet. If that number is found, I want the result to say "yes". If the item number is NOT also found in the given range in the other workbook, I want it to say "no". This is what I have so far:

=IF(ISERROR(MATCH($C9,'Case Usage Summary'!$A$2:$A$45138,0))=FALSE,"Yes","No")

The problem so far is that this is actually giving me the wrong results. For instance, the above function attempts to located cell C9, denoted as item number 964, in another sheet called Case Usage Summary in the range between A2 and A45138. If it could find 964 in that range in the Case Usage Summary sheet, it should give an answer of "yes", if it couldn't then it should give an answer of "no". The problem is that it gave me an answer of "no", but I just looked through the list of item numbers in the case usage summary sheet and there IS in fact a item number 964 entered in the range. What is going on here? I tried this for some of the other cells, and it is just giving me "no" for all of them. What is going on?

Code To Add Nested IF & ISERROR Formula To Cell

Jun 26, 2008

Application. ScreenUpdating = False

For FormulaRemake = 2 To 2000
Worksheets("Data"). Range("D" & FormulaRemake).Formula = ""=If(ISERROR(Data!W"" & FormulaRemake - 1 & "")"" & ""=True,"",Data!W"" & FormulaRemake - 1 & "")""
Next
Application.ScreenUpdating = True

I'm having troubles with the syntax for the .Formula part. I read that when you do this you're supposed to double quote everything, except if you need a "" in it...?
Should look like this when done right: =IF(ISERROR(Data!W1)=TRUE,"",Data!W1) Also is there anything besides ScreenUpdating that will make this code run faster?

Code Causes Error 1004 Then Continues

Sep 8, 2009

I have some code I have created to set page breaks. Depending on a previous option, my report will be either 3,6,9,12, or 15 pages. The info on each page varies in length, but I use table headers to separate the data onto different pages so none of the tables are split into more than one page.

My problem when the code gets to a certain line, it gives me error 1004. I will hit "Debug", then I hit continue and the code finishes. I don't understand why I am getting an error on this line, and why I don't have to fix anything to get it to finish running.

VLookup To Pivot Table Using Match Function - Returns Error If Can't Find Match Value

Mar 11, 2014

I am having some trouble getting a formula to work. I am building a report that pulls figures from a pivot table in another workbook. I am using a vlookup with match function to get the column index to find the relevant data I want. Where I need to add two columns together I am using sum, with the vlookup & match formulas nested in them e.g.:

=SUM(VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("FAID",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE),VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("COMM",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE),VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("BPCM",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE),VLOOKUP(F13,'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C:$AQ,MATCH("COMD",'[PIVOT 156.xlsx]PIVOT'!$C$6:$AQ$6,0),FALSE))

Where:
F13 = Employee number
Column C on the pivot 156 workbook is where the employee number is based.
The Match formula is then getting the column index from the column headings of the pivot table ie. "FAID"

This in itself works fine, as long as it finds a match in the column headings. This is where i get the error as in the above function "COMD" is not in the pivot table. However I need to keep it included as it may appear on a future pivot table. Is there a way of getting the sum function to complete even though later in the formula it can't complete the vlookup? So it will ignore it, or assume the value is zero if it can't find it? The formula probably needs to do this for all the vlookups as some headings may drop off in future pivot tables.

From the attached file, I am trying to match the date and time stamp (in cell A1) with that from the other data (in this example in cell E1) and return the data (from cell F1) to cell C1. So basically any date and time stamp before 04/03/09 04:00 will return a value of 44 (this value should appear, therefore in cells C1 - C30)

I looked at protection and Macro security and checked my definitions (that work in other contexts).

Does DGET need to have criteria and database in the same worksheet? My project is working between two workbooks.

Nesting Index / Match Function Within Vlookup Function?

Dec 3, 2013

let me start by saying that I know an example workbook would be useful here, but the part I'm struggling with is the [managementroster.xlsm] file, and there is A. no way I can release it to the internets and B. its so huge/complicated I couldn't even begin to reproduce a portion of it, scrubbed of data, and hope to maintain its functionality in a meaningful manner.

[Code]....

This formula checks a staff number on this spreadsheet, and then goes and looks at the staff number on the roster. Once found, it returns that staff members roster, but changes any manager codes in the MRC list to Mgr, and changes all other roster codes to Free.

I now need this formula, before altering roster codes to Mgr or Free, to only return codes that are a match for another table (or after really. I don't particularly care, so long as only codes are shown that match data from another table). I think an index/match function would do the trick, but this forumula is already at the edge of my excel ability, nesting another function within it is completey beyond me. The relevant cells for the index/match function would be:

This first Match function targets the column. $E3 is the date required, $BA$1:$DN$1 is the range the dates are entered in
Match: Lookup value = $E3
Lookup array = '[ManagementRoster.xlsm]Vacancies!'$BA$1:$DN$1
match type = 0

This second Match function targets the row. $A$4 is the department name, $B$434:$B$452 is the range where all departments are entered

Match: Lookup value = $A$4
Lookup Array = '[ManagementRoster.xlsm]Vacancies!'$B$434:$B$452
match type = 0

Index: array = $BA$434:$DN$452

So I think my final function is

[Code] .....

But I have absolutely NO idea where it would fit within my first formula, or how to code it so that my original formula only reproduces results that are found in both sheets, or anything.
