"If" Function -need Return Data In % Format

Jun 8, 2006

I had more of an excel questions.

Let's say

A1 "=D1"
A2 "=D4"
A3 "=D7"

so baiscally the row reference increases by 3. How could I write a cell formula for A1 and so that I can just drag and drop it down for the rest of the cells?

Index Function - Data Identified Based On A List Of Account Numbers And Return This Data To A New Sheet

May 8, 2007

I have a multiple column spreadsheet (Call it- "Money") whereby I need the data identified based on a list of account numbers and return this data to a new sheet.

In "Money" I have:

IE; columns B, C respectively have cust #A100 & 20.00
columns E, F respectively have cust #B100 & 40.00
columns G,H respectively have cust #C100 & 60.00
Etc.

(above for illustration-there are 100 lines of data in these columns with varied account numbers and respective dollars)

So what I have now is a new sheet I have named "Control". I have listed all my account numbers like A100,B100 etc. in column A. These are the account numbers for ident purposes.

I need the data entered in "Money" identified by those columns B,E,G with respective amounts from C,F,H and based on the list I have in "Control" whereby in "Control" if A100 is listed in column A then the figure to be returned in column B is all the data bits found in all columns C,F,H from the entire sheet "Money". Tough to explain but ie below....

Substitue Function And Data Format

Sep 9, 2006

Var1 is a number, for example (3.2354896), displayed on the worksheet as 3.2
Var2 is a number, for example (3.958846), displayed on the worksheet as 4.0
Var3 is text, for example (lunch program)
BullPoint = "greater satisfaction with Var3 (Var2 vs. Var1)"
Range ("A1") = Application.Substitute(WorksheetFunction.Substitute(WorksheetFunction.Substitute(BullPoint, "Var1", Var1), "Var2", Var2), "Var3", Var3)

The result of this is now:
greater satisfaction with lunch program (3.958846 vs. 3.2354896)

What we want to see is:
greater satisfaction with lunch program (4.0 vs. 3.2)
without losing the ".0" for the 4.0, which happens if we adjust the original data, using ActiveWorkbook.PrecisionAsDisplayed. Our preference is not to use this command, as it changes source data.

IF Function To Return No Data As A Result

Nov 29, 2007

I've created a Database using excel which feeds data to a pivot table I created based on it. My objective is to create a new item in this pivot table (Pivot Table > Formulas > Calculated Item) which calculates the average data for the past 6 months.
The formula I used in order to get a result is this:

=IF(((May+June+July+August+September+October)/6)=0;;(May+June+July+August+September+October)/6)

and the problem is that the answer is 0 when there is no data for all 6 months (for example, there is a customer who hasn't baught anything during the past 6 months), the pivot table displays 0, instead of not showing this customer at all. My goal is for the IF function not to return any data if the result is 0, so that the pivot table doesn't show items with no data.
I also tried:
=IF(((May+June+July+August+September+October)/6)=0;"";(May+June+July+August+September+October)/6)

and also using ;" ";

but these formulas return #VALUE! in the pivot table, given that the Data is "SUM OF Sales" and "" is not a number.

How can I get the formula not to show anything at all?

In addition to this, I was wondering if it is possible to make this formula more automated, so that it calculates the average of the past 6 months, taking into account some type of reference month (rather than having to edit the formula each time a new month is analyzed).

Conditional Format Using ISBLANK Function - Not Disappearing When Cell Has Data

Jun 19, 2013

I am making some conditional formats for a document. One that I am trying to achieve is have a group of cells have a background color, but once the data has been added, the color go away.

This is what my conditional format looks like: =ISBLANK($A$1:$H$22) and chose the Green fill background. So, my understanding is, the cells should have a green background if they are blank, but go back to a standard format, once cells have data put in them.

Lookup Function - Check Batches Of Data / Return Value Dependent Of Multiple Ifs

Apr 3, 2012

Use look up to check batches of data a return a value dependent of multiple ifs?

I have this formula from here

=LOOKUP(COUNTIF(C4:C7,""&0),{0,1,2,3},{19.9,29.9,39.9,49.9})

What I am trying to achieve is using the above can it check

C4:C7 Grouped and named "first"
C8:C10 Grouped and named "second"
C11:C13 Grouped and named "third"

If one from each group is selected it returns 1 value, if 2 of each are selected it returns a second value and if 3 of each are selected it returns a third value?

I thought by grouping them it may give me the desired results but all it does is change if I select more than one from any of the groups.

Vlookup Function: Re-format The Information Into A Horizontal Format By Week

Feb 3, 2007

I have a forecast which is sorted by product code by week vertically. I need to create a lookup to re-format this information into a horizontal format by week. I have started this by transposing the information as my attachment shows but I am hoping there is a lookup formula which will be easier and quicker. I have attached the actual document and the data I want to sort is Sheet 2. I have started in Sheet 1. I want to look up the code in column A, then lookup the week number which would be B2 in Sheet 1 and return the value of that Code in that week from Sheet 1.

DATE Function & IF Function (return A TRUE Or FALSE Based On A Date In A Cell)

Dec 8, 2009

I am trying to return a TRUE or FALSE based on a date in a cell.

for example:

if cell A1 = 07/11/2009

I want A2 to show TRUE or FALSE if A1 is 14 days or more behind todays date.

I have tried stuff like:

=IF(A1=TODAY()-14,"True","False")

but it just always says false. EDIT: I have just noticed that if I change the date in A1 to exactly 14 days behind todays, it returns TRUE. So, it does work. Do I need to add a GREATER THAN in there?

VBA Will Not Return Date In Right Format?

Feb 6, 2012

Okay - the variable myDTStart is calculated off of this formula and I've put in what I have it testing as now and the result I am getting:

Code:
myDTStart = Application.WorksheetFunction.WorkDay(MyDate, (myBMLT - myAssy - OMSpd), holidays)
MyDate = today's date (coming from a cell - current value of 2/6/2012)
myBMLT = # of days (coming from a cell - current value of 15)
myAssy = # of days (coming from a cell - current value of 3)
OMSpd = # of days (coming from a cell - current value of 1)
holidays = refers to a range of cells that has holidays (Dim as range)

It is currently returning it as a "40998" , but not in the right format in a msgbox. How do I get it to return it in date format "mm/dd/yyyy"? I've tried doing it with a With statement and a Format statement, but can't get it to work.

Lookup To Return Value And Format

Aug 3, 2007

My workbook contains two worksheets a scorecard template and a data sheet. I use the lookup function to retrieve statistics from the data to populate various fields in the scorecard template. The value can be numeric, currency or percentages depending on the lookup criteria. Although the data shows the correct formats in the data sheet, when the lookup retrieves the value it only shows the value as number format. Is there a way the cell can retrieve the cell format information as well as the value and apply it to the cell

Return A Value Based On Cell Format

Aug 9, 2007

I don't even know if this is possible but can you use some formula within Excel to return a value to a cell based on the cell formatting of another cell? Here is specifically what I am trying to do:

Cell A2 has a value of 10. If the font color of that cell is black (or "automatic") I want a formula in cell A1 that will return a value of "+10". If the font color of cell A2 is red, I want the formula in cell A1 to return a value of "-10".

Format Climatic Data From A Weather Station Into A Desired Format

Feb 11, 2009

I need to format some climatic data from a weather station into a desired format. There are a lot of cut&paste and transposing involved. I think it will be easy but tedious for anyone trained in VB to write a macro but unfortunately I am not. I've tried recording a macro but it turns out that it is not general enough to deal with all the spreadsheets that I've got.

I've attached a spreadsheet which shows the original format (in sheet 1) and the desired format (in sheet 2). To briefly describe, I only need the temperature data for 8am and 2pm, the rest of the information in sheet 1 is useless to me.

Double Click Row To Return Data To Userform For Edit Then Return Back To Sheet

I am trying to create a data entry sheet to enter quotes on. When a quote is received, I click on my "Add quote" button and a userform appears. Data is entered into the userform (frmEntryForm) and returned back to the next available row.

I also need to be able to:

Edit a row by double-clicking it. When a row is double-clicked, data from that row is passed back to the userform, edited and returned back to the same row (to prevent duplicates).Validate that all fields are complete within the userform where relevant (i.e. if the work is not complete or in progress then the "Invoice Number" and "Actual Cost" fields are disabled and blanked to prevent entry (I think this is almost sorted judging by my tests)

I have attached my sheet : 2014 Gatwick Quote Log (Macro Enabled).xlsm‎

Function Won't Return Value

Dec 29, 2006

I'm trying to get a "simple" function to return a number and not the #NAME?error!

I'm writing the following vba code. It's located in the sheet1 vba code area.

On the spreadsheet itself, on sheet1, column C, there is data from row 1 down to row 55. I have tried formatting the Column as General, text,etc.

Function Asset() As String
Asset = Range("C1").End(xlDown).Row
End Function

When I type into the spreadsheet =Asset() , I get the #NAME? instead of the number 55.
When I step through in debug mode, Asset shows Asset="55" , but my function doesn't return it!

Using Function To Return A Value

I am trying to use a function to look at the value in one cell and return a value to the cell with the functional equation. I think I use the "IF" Function. But it is a little more complicated than I can do. In my sheet, there is a number in D3. I want to create an equation in D4 that evaluates the value in D3. If D3 is between 0 and 100, I want the equation in D4 to return the value 1; If D3 is greater than 100 but less than or equal to 200, I want D4 value to be 2; if D3 greater than 200 but less than or equal to 300, D4 return 4. I would like this to continue in increments of 100 until D4 equals 10.

Return No Value If The Function Evaluates To An #REF

Feb 25, 2009

I am using an array formula like this in cells A2:H100 of a worksheet:

=INDEX('Source Data'!$A$2:$Q$5000,SMALL(IF(('Source Data'!$I$2:$I$5000>=$O$1)*('Source Data'!$I$2:$I$5000<=$P$1)*('Source Data'!$M$2:$M$5000>0),ROW('Source Data'!$A$2:$Q$5000)-ROW('Source Data'!$A$2)+1,ROW($Q$5000)+1),ROW()-1),1)

The function must be present in all 99 rows to accommodate potential data, but there is rarely enough data to populate the entire sheet, leaving #REF! errors in some cells. Putting aside that using this many array formulae is sloppy programming, how do I craft the function above to return no value if the function evaluates to an #REF! error?
