Import Last Row Of Data Of Multiple CSV File To One Worksheet?
Aug 21, 2013I'm looking for a macro that will import the last row of data of each .csv files from a specific folder, i.e., c: emp, into one new worksheet.
View 1 RepliesI'm looking for a macro that will import the last row of data of each .csv files from a specific folder, i.e., c: emp, into one new worksheet.
View 1 RepliesI have a workbook which, amongst several worksheets, also includes 12 blank worksheets (one for each month of the year).
Is it possible to have a macro that will (a) first prompt the user to select an excel file to import (the excel files to import are provided each month and only have one tab); then (b) select which worksheet to import the data (values only) from the selected file into.
Actually i've downloaded Tracking report of my SPO and this report is on 4-5 csv files (1 file per week). I have to gather data from these 4 files into one Worksheet. I have to do this with command button on my worksheet; with Open file dialogue box (i want to locate the csv files).
CSV files are something like that (I need only first 4 columns):
ABCDE1Name MSISDN Date Location MapLink 2M. Younus Safi "923***550577" "2011-10-07 20:36:18" "ACB Tower Badragah Chakwal. Badraga" "http://asdf.com" 3M. and my Worksheet is like that (With a command Button):
I want to import first 3 columns of csv file on first 3 columns on my worksheet; leave 2 columns blank and then import the 4th column... now for example i have done importing data from 1st csv file and the data is on 50 rows.. i click the command button again, locate the 2nd csv file.. do the same thing (import 1st 3 columns, 2 blank, then 4th) --from 51st Row-- and so on...

The Workbooks.OpenText works for me, but I need to import the text file into one worksheet of an existing workbook. Is there a method to do this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to read data from Notepad into Excel. I found this code on the net and have been trying to modify it for my needs:
Sub ImportText(FileName As String)
Dim X As Long
Dim FileNum As Long
Dim TotalFile As String
Dim Lines() As String
Const DataRowStart As Long = 1
Const DataColStart As Long = 1
FileNum = FreeFile
Open "C:...data.txt" For Binary As #FileNum.................
This pastes the contents of each line into 1 cell but I want to paste each value into a seperate cell. So in the attached data.txt there are 5 records each of 2 lines. For example in the 1st record I want to paste 05-693-1900 into 1 cell then 0040 in the cell to the right of that, Town A into another cell, 000000 into another cell....and so on. For the 2nd line it should be 000000000033 into one cell, AA28816 into the adjacent cell...and each remaining number into a seperate cell. I also want to leave 3 blank lines before going to the next record.data.txt
I have been using the attached to pull multiple csv files into seperate sheets. This takes all files from a user specified directory and dumps them into a workbook. I only need three specific files. How do I request specific files instead of a wild card.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm a novice at Excel trying to create some forms for work. My goal is to have a working workbook that holds all my values from multiple jobs that gets updated daily with additional worksheets that gets sent to me. I'd like to be able to hit a macro in my workbook that allows me to select a file that has been emailed to me and import their values into mine. For example:
While using my active workbook I want to select a file. Then take cells A1:A15 from selected file and paste to cells F1:F15 in my active workbook.
Below is the code I currently use to do the following which creates service reports.
When you click on the command button you can choose any XML file you want to import. This file is copied to a temporary worksheet where i selectively choose cells to populate textbox's which later populate my reports. What I want to do is the same exact thing but with a text file. Not all text files are the same length so it needs to be able to have a range. Here's my working code.
For Each SheetName In Array("Maintenance Data Sheet")
With Sheets(SheetName)
.Range("B127") = ""
.Range("U127") = ""
.Range("AJ127") = ""
.Range("AV127") = ""
.Range("AY124") = ""
[Code]...
Cancel:
MsgBox "No XML Selected"
End Sub
I have 400+ workbooks in a folder. If they are all .xlsm (macro-enabled) workbooks, how can I import a macro (.cls file) to a particular sheet (sheet1) in each workbook using VBA so that when a user on another machine opens one of them, the macro works? Right now, I have this code to loop through all workbooks; I only need the import function to go in the middle. Copying and pasting or importing manually 400+ times is just plain unrealistic!
VB:
Sub OpenfileUpdate()
Dim strFile As String
mFolder = "C:files1Files"
strFile = Dir(mFolder & "*.xlsm*")
Do While strFile <> ""

My associates have saved about 2,000 .zip files in a single repository. Each zip file contains a .pdf, and a file called "metadata.xml" - the metadata files are small, only 1-2Kb.
What I'd like to do is import the contents of each metadata.xml file into a single workbook so I can build an inventory of the pdf files.
The full path looks like this:
Z:PrincetonGlobal DataFinancial DataFinancial DataWCFNDL_PRODUCTION128650_TH1X0_ProTechLLC_A_Eng_BBOT__20140317132245.195_bbot.zip
Everything up to and including FNDL_PRODUCTION is exactly the same for each file. Everything after, varies, and is not predictable.
I'm thinking there is some way to say "for each file in repository, import metadata.xml content..."
I am trying to convert multiple tab-separated text files into one worksheet. All the text files have the same format and file structure. I have been copying and pasting these files into an Excel spreadsheet but this is time consuming. I need to find out if anyone has any ideas on how to accomplish this task using a VBA macro.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a single folder for the year 2009 that contains multiple files, identical in nature but updated for each business-day. In other words, the same report is generated daily with updated info. The naming convention is the same for every file (i.e. Daily Net Debt Report 02.2.2009.xls)
My ultimate goal is to have a macro that is dynamic enough that if its run on any given day of the year, it pulls the data (specifically from the worksheet "Detailed Cash" cells C1:E26) from every file included in the folder and places it in a single worksheet in the master file. So, for example, data from 1/2/09 would go into cells A1:C26, data from 1/3/09 would go into cells D1:F26, etc...
I have around 50 text files with similar design per attached file. I need to import the text files with criteria below:-
1. include file name
2. let user choose the folder
3. exclude data from "work in process summary" to "work in process cost totals"
4. only have one title in the excel files which all text files is combined "Item, Line ....."
5. If the text files do not have title like "Item, Line, ..." do not import
Is it possible to have all criteria listed above by running a macro?

I am importing a text file that has a lot more than 256 columns. The data will be updated weekly with a different text file. I know how to get past the 256 column limit when importing a text file like this. This link explains the method I am using to import the text file. [url] Since I am importing onto several sheets I get the dialogue box asking me to choose a file to import from for every sheet when I use RefreshAll. The same file that is used by the first sheet will be used by the rest of the sheets. Each sheet just imports a different section of columns from the text file. I want to avoid choosing the same file 30 plus times (once for each sheet) when I click refresh all. Is there a code that would allow me to choose the file for the first sheet, and the other sheets would follow suite?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have several files from different departments that I have to extract sections of data from and compile into one central file for reporting.
I am very new to VBA but would like to set up a button so that I can import data from closed files in different departmental directories. I have recorded a macro and got it to work if the file is open but I can't seem to get it to work if the file is closed.
My task is to make an excelfile that import data from other excelfiles. These data should then be summarized. There's not always same files. I should be able to add more files.

I am trying to take multiple tables from a Word document and import them into an Excel worksheet. Currently I have found two versions that when combined, could yield what I am looking for. The first one imports the table's data from Word, but does not maintain formatting of the table (font, colors, rows/columns etc.):
The next code maintains formatting, but only imports/pastes one table:
[Code] .........
For the second one, I do not like the fact that it is calling a specific Workbook to paste into. If I could somehow maintain the ability to import/past multiple tables while keeping formatting that would be perfect. An extra bonus would be to import each table within the Word document into individual Worksheets in Excel. I am also using Office 2010.

I have a workbook that contains an 'AllData' sheet. That sheet has 6 columns titled "category, keyword, bid, advertisers, search vol, online". Each category has its own worksheet and i want to put the data for each category onto the corresponding worksheet. I am having a difficult time describing this so I have attached a brief example. I have to do this for 145 categories so I would much prefer to do it automatically rather than manually.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am working on a file that is going to import and then manipulate data from another excel file automatically. I would like this to be as smooth as possible and I am running into a problem. The file I am importing the data from is password protected, so I am opening it in read-only. Also, the file contains links to other excel files.
What I would like to do is indicate in the code to open the file in read-only format so that the user doesn't get a message box asking for the password. Also, is there a way to suppress the message box about updating the links? I have tried application.displayalerts = false but that didn't solve my problem.
I need to summarize some data from multiple files but I can't seem to have the user select the file and import it.
It's a ERA(electronic remittance advice) 835 file that will import with the "Import Text File" routine. I've added the "GetOpenFileName" to it but apparently have not appropriately adjusted my "QueryTable.Add" routine.
I removed the .Refresh Backgroundquery:=False line as this was causing an error and this not SQL data.
The desired files have names like this: C123456.835.EDIPROCESSERPROCEEDED
My simpleton code reads:
Sub IMPORT_835()
' IMPORT_835 Macro
Dim InputFile As Variant
InputFile = Application.GetOpenFilename(Title:="Choose your file", _
FileFilter:="All Files (*.*), *.*")
[Code] ........
No data is imported, Why?
I am using Excel 2013, and I am following the example here: VBScript Scripting Techniques: Read Excel files without using Excel that reads in Excel data as an ADO record set to a classic ASP file using VBScript. I am not able to import all the Excel data successfully, and I need to know what I'm doing wrong. Note that in all these samples cell A1 is the heading text "Column1" and the main data starts on cell A2 (consistent with the example code).
When my source Excel data looks like the following:
Code:
Column1
1
2
3
4
5
6
7
X
9
10
It imports everything OK. However, if I move the X to the next row:
Code:
Column1
1
2
3
4
5
6
7
8
X
10
...the "X" cell gets imported as an empty string. So the imported array looks like this:
Code:
arrSheet[0][0]: Column1
arrSheet[1][0]: 1
arrSheet[2][0]: 2
arrSheet[3][0]: 3
[Code] ....
But if I add another X to an earlier row in the source worksheet, like so:
Code:
Column1
1
2
3
4
5
X
7
8
X
10
...this gets imported OK.
.Find and Replace data
I have a file that I keep importing into Excel that shows up in Column A. The Range typically varies to how short or how long the end of the file is. But every time I import a file in, the last 20 rows are the same. The 20 rows I want to replace with other values on another sheet.
This is a simple example:
SHEET_1
COLUMN A
1
2
[Code]....
I would want to replace the numbers with the letters. The biggest thing is if I can filter or have excel find the end of the file (using a shift+crtl+End) or something and have a formula on sheet2 that it can reference; then replace. Any way to have excel automatically find the end of the file and replace values without manually doing it.
I've never actually had a reason or need to use macros for data import or manipulation. At the moment I'm trying to work on a modeling problem which will output the data in the form of a large text file. The data is divided up using 1000 energy bins, and 1000 timing bins for each tally (unique set of output data) like in this file [URL].....Unfortunately because of the applications for the data I can't reduce the number of bins, and the software being used for the modeling will not provide a more convenient form for the output file.
How to create a macro that can extract this data from the output file and import it into a designated excel spreadsheet. It would be preferable to import each set of tally data from the initial output file into it's own spreadsheet, but as I said I have no experience using macros and I'm not even sure where to begin in making something that would work. or even a basic source for examples
every day i get a .txt file containing data. i need to copy all the data from this file to excel...

importing some selective data from txt file to excel. Only the following rows I need to pull out from text file into the Excel i.e. Project row, installation row, and two rows immediately below the installation row. This is my logical procedure..
1. Macro look for the rows that contains the word "PROJECT"
2. Open an excel file
3. Pull the row from txt file to this new excel file.
4. Macro look for the rows that contains the word "INSTALLATION"
3. Pull that row with INSTALLATION AS WELL AS Two rows immediately below the INSTALLATION row.
I have a tab delimited text file with more than 256 columns that I would like to place into an Excel worksheet in a specific format using VBA.

This is how I want the data to be placed into Excel:

I want to be able to run a macro that will export some of the data from a worksheet called Generated Report into another worksheet called Matrix. The data will be taken Generated REport and grouped into sections of the worksheet. These sections will be defined by the BRID value.
The Data that i want to export will be from the first 5 columns within the Generated Report(note there are other columns which data is not required from).
The following columns will be exported from Generated Report -
BRID,Requirement, Bug Description, Bug ID and Alt Bug ID.
BRIDRequirement Bug DescriptionBUG ID Alt Bug ID
PQ115 PQ115-Login Bug Description text xihllloloj43712 123
PQ116PQ116-Landing Bug Description text ghghghgoot 43713 126
For Matrix
The data will be imported into Matrix worksheet into the following columns as part of the row headings
- Requirement, Description, Bug ID and VF Bug ID.There will also be other columns (outlined below) which i will use to manually enter data
The data will be grouped and imported into the relevant section by its BRID eg PQ115, PQ116 etc.
I want each section (marked by BRID number)to be separated by row headings.
These row headings are to be generated after populating all data within each BRID number.
When the data has been populated in each row there is a column called 'Status' which contains drop down list boxes which can be assigned.
The default status will be set to 'To Do'. The complete row headings are displayed with Output from Generated Report underneath
BRID Priority Requirment Description BugID Alt Bug ID PC UpdateNotes Actual Result Type of DEfect Test Status Tested by
PQ115 PQ115-Login Bug Description text xihllloloj43712 123 To Do
BRID Priority Requirment Description BugID Alt Bug ID QC UpdateNotes Actual Result Type of DEfect Test Status Tested by
PQ116 PQ116-Landing Bug Description text ghghghgoot43713 126 To Do
So far the macro that i have been using allows me to locate the data for each specific BRID in Generated Report and copy into the corresponding BRID section within the Matrix. I have to repeat this step for each new BRID and i want to be able to whole automate this process.
When I export data from .csv or .tsv file to .excel file then all the preceding zero's disappear and the code 0010 display's like 10.
I know I can manually import data from csv to text(option "fromtext" in excel) but i want to do it automatically.
I have this task to solve:
a) import a txt file to excel formatting it as text
b) in column D remove the preceding space
c) find duplicates in column A and delete the entire row with the older one according to Date in column B
d) then convert data in D according to Conversion table integrated into the code and print conversion results into column J.
e) the last step is to print/copy columns A and J so that it looks like the final table in Sheet2.
Here are files attached.
sample data.xls
sample data.txt
conversion table.xls
To summarize, I need to go from a txt file like the one attached and arrive at the table in Sheet2 of sample data.xls file attached.
