Formula To Calculate The Value Over Limit
Sep 13, 2006I need to work out a formula to calculate the “value over limit” in the following scenario:
Cell D11 contains a total balance (input manually)
Cell D1 is the total of cells E to H
Cell A1 contains the formula to calculate the % of Cell D1 against the balance in Cell D11
Cell B1 will used to input a credit limit which will either be blank or the value of the limit
In Cell C1 I need a formula that will return 0 or value over limit based on the following-
Formula to calculate the value over limit: If cell A1 >10% of Cell D11 return the value difference between 10% of Cell D11 and the value in Cell D1
example; cell D11 = £100,000 & cell D1 = £22,000 (cellA1 = 22%): 10% would be £10000 therefore, the result would be £12,000 over limit
However, the comparison also has to take account of Cell B1. If this contains a balance then this needs to be taken into account e.g. in the example shown, if cell B1 contained a balance of £5000 then the result would be £7000 over limit or if the figure was =>£12000 the result would be 0.
If the % in Cell A1 is <10% the value is always returned as zero in Cell C1 regardless of any balance in Cell B1.

Dec 9, 2011I am in the process of creating a template in excel with certain restrictions on the information that can be added to it. I've hunted several sites and forums to try and find a solution but find it difficult to see the best ones for my project. The template is roughly made up of say 10 references to large boxes, each box can hold smaller boxes. The smaller boxes vary in size. For example the large box is 60 inches long smaller boxes vary between 20 inches and 40 inches, can excel be made to tell me an error if i try to put 2 x 40 boxes in columns refering to 1 of the larger boxes as it exceed the maximum length of 60 inches?

Excel Formula To Split Words With Characters Limit Per Cell?
Dec 6, 2010 I am suffering with split a long descriptions into 3 cells with criteria 1st cell not more than 30 characters, 2nd cell not more than characters and 3rd cell will locate the remaining characters there. I think this is quite easy if I use LEN/MID/RIGHT/LEFT formula. However, I wish the formula will smart enough to split word by word. refer to example below:-
"My lecturer replied, that i really did very bad in final, nothing's gonna change my plan."
If I use left(A1,30) formula, the result is "My lecturer replied, that i re"however, the word "really" is cut half way. I am finding the formula that split description to not more than 30 characters and won't cut my string and become incomplete word. Expected result should be 1st cell "My lecturer replied, that i", then "really did very bad in final," at 2nd cell.
Limit Text Length In Cell With Formula By Data Validation?
Jan 25, 2014Can I limit the text length in a cell that contains a formula? You may say "Limit the text length in the input cell". That can't be done because the formula in the resultant cell takes text from two other cells in addition to the input cell. I need to limit the overall text length to, let say, 50 characters.

The output of the formula starts on "Template!23" - highlighted in yellow. I have started to use an array formula but cannot fully utilise it as I need the row reference needs to be variable. Jul 30, 2012I have two cells = A1 and A2 in which there are words.
What I need the formula to do is if in A1 or A2 is "ABC" or "ABC2" , number 3 is going to appear in B1. If A1 or A2 is going to be "ABCD", number 6 is going to appear in B3.
I have this formula so far that works but cannot add any more arguments.
=IF(OR(A1="ABC",A2="ABC"),Table!F12,IF(OR(A1="ABCD",A2="ABCD"),Table!F13))
(The added numbers are found in another worksheet called "table".
Incorporate Several IF Statements Into Single Formula?
Nov 27, 2012I am trying to incorporate several IF statements into a single formula:
=IF(AB5<20,"LR",IF(AND(AB5<30,AB5>25),"C",IF(T5<>"","CLEAR",IF(AND(AB5<240,AB5>40,AA5=1),"B-T1-F10",""))))
What I am trying to achieve with this formula is:
- insert LR if AB5 is less than 20;
- insert C if AB5 is less than 30 but more than 25;
- if neither of the above is true, insert CLEAR if T5 contains something and if not insert B-T1-F10 if AB5 is between 240 and 40 and AA5 = 1.
The problem I have is that the B-T1-F10 is not being inserted where the other criteria are not met so I think I have not integrated the statements correctly?

CNP, CSO and NS are named cells, all named ranges are the same size and the formula is entered with Ctrl & Shift to make an array formula.
Excel 2010 :: Increase Character Limit In Text Box That Is Based On Formula?
Mar 7, 2012I have a text box that is set to "=B1". B1 is a cell from an Access table import with memo format. The text memo is long, probably on average between 1000-2000 characters. I have set up the text box to automatically resize for the text, but the text stops at what I assume is 255 characters, even though cell B1 displays the entire memo.
How can I set it up so that this text box (or any other similar shape) displays the text and retains its resize/wrap property?
This is done in Excel 2010.

Mar 14, 2014I would like to create a function where I would be able to ask and answer 20 questions. When using If statement it only allows me to use up to 7 nests.
I have created an example below with all the statements I need using IF but of course this doesn't work so I would need so how to handle this particular issue with so many questions/answers in one. Even though the delta between 5-4 and 3-2 is same I want different answers. I'm using Excel 2010.

First of all, is it possible to create a Named Formula with combined IF with AND statement such as: =IF(AND(F26>=54,F26<=77.99),"2x3"," ")--I am getting a periodic error message: "Cell with block IF function should not contain anything else."?
